A100/105 recovery problem

Hey there,
I have been trying to get the recovery processs going on my laptop and it starts to load the first disc but then says something about partition creation error and gives 0800000000. I have tried to look this up to see what the error was or how to work around it but have come up with nothing. Has anyone else seen something like this or have any info on solving this?
thank you

Hi SAN111,
I saw your post and I will be happy to help. Would you please clarify a few things for me. So you are running a dual boot system with Windows 7 and Windows 8, correct? Do you have separate hard drive for each operating system or are the two partitions for the two operating system? The recovery disk you are using is one your created yourself, correct? Did you create this before you installed Windows 7?
Thank you,

  • Troubleshooting System Recovery Problems

A System Recovery is a useful tool to return your Windows 8 tablet back to factory defaults. However, what do you do when the System Recovery isn't working!?
A full System Recovery can be a lengthy process as there is a lot of data being transferred. Patience is the key, as a full Recovery can take two to four hours to complete.
For more information check out HP's Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems for Windows 8. This document will help you get your Windows 8 tablet back up and running.
TIP: If you are planning on using the System Recovery make sure that you do not change or delete the HP Recovery Partition as that will make all but impossible to Restore your tablet using the HP Recovery Manager.

    > External Monitor is flickering like a flag going up and down when AC adapter is connected to notebook.
    > When notebook is working on battery everything is ok. What is wrong my AC adapter or my notebook (graphic card) or something else??
I already read about such issue and it looks like a grounding issue.
Try to use a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter, so the AC Adapter is no longer grounded.
Try also some different VGA cables with better shielding from interference.
I found also this thread about very similar issue.

Finally the user solved this using other power cable that came with the external monitor.
    The first one was faulty.

  • Satellite A100 - data recovery from Hard Disk Drive

    Hi,
I have recently tried to help a friend with recovering data of his Toshiba Satelitte A100 that screen has died.
I thought this would be a simply task of removing the hard drive and putting it a HDD caddie and attaching it to another computer,
This does not seem to work.
I can put the hard drive back into the computer and i can hear the computer boot up and was able to see it with a LCD Screen. I have been able to remove the data this way so we are safe.
My question is why can we seem to remove the drive and see it on another computer?
I assume there must be some interface or format that the laptop may use for the recovery section and so cant be seen as a normal drive.
If I couldnt remove the data because say the motherboard died. Is there any way to be able to see the data on another computer.
    Email: [[email protected]]

    >I thought this would be a simply task of removing the hard drive and putting it a HDD caddie and attaching it to another computer
I have done this several times and it works perfectly.
I had full access to all saved data on all partitions.
Similar in on notebook with two HDDs.
I have Satellite A300 with two HDDs inside. On one HDD Ive installed WXP and on another Win7.
Each OS can see saved data on other HDD.
Maybe is there some problem with HDD or with HDD caddie.
Have you tried to connect this HDD to other notebooks to see if the problem is the same?

  • Satellite A100-999: Recovery process (without recovery DVD/CDs) ?

    Hi all,
here is my GOAL: I want to reinstall the original Windows Vista as it was when we bought that laptop.
My PROBLEM: we never succeeded to create that recovery DVDs (just after the purchase), always gave an error... today and to my surprise, I cannot find any recovery tool from the OS either...
1- At power off/on: I tried the "0" key (as read in internet) but did not do anything special..
2- I tried then from this options menu (after F8 at reboot): REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER
Then (after choosing spanish language and logging as user) I tried to lo launch the WINDOWS COMPLETE RESTORE but it said that no CD/DVD found ....(no current issue with this CD/DVD player = working fine)
3- I tried then the other interesting option : HHD RECOVERY (More or less like this, as I have it in spanish version)...Just a pop-up opened (maybe about the recovery DVDs) but without any buttons to follow the process....
    Trickier situation now, isn't it?
    4- INFO:
I could find the hidden partition and unhide it. It contains folder and files: a 'source' folder, 'boot.sdi' file if I remember well..and maybe more..
=> I copied them on a USB key and recorded as well on a new DVD (and the image.iso of them as well) and repeat the above points 2 and 3, but nothing changed...(the content of this DVD is read without any problem on another laptop)
    => QUESTIONS:
    - This folder and files (found in hidden partition) means that the recovery is still there?
    - Is there a special file.exe or process to follow in order to launch these files found?
(my ultimate last chance: order that recovery CDs to Toshiba if still possible)
    Thank you in advance
    S.

    > I understand now that these files (in hidden partition) are those used for showing this special menu (after clicking REPAIR MY COMPUTER) with WINDOWS COMPLETE RESTORE, HHD RECOVERY, ...
    > Is that right?
No, the small hidden partition is created by Windows system and these are NOT Recovery disk files.
The Toshiba Recovery disk files are placed (usually) on the D partition this is not hidden.
    > Then I suppose that I should have a RECOVERY folder somewhere..but I read in some posts that comment type :"the A100 series has not been equipped with the HDD recovery partition"
This might be right since the A100 is older series and the HDD recovery was not available in this time
As far as I know the A200 series and newer series were equipped with such Recovery option.
    > if not available then, I'm already then on this last-chance-step explained above? this means to order the recovery DVD on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
This is the link to the page where you could order a recovery disk for Toshiba EU notebook series but Im not quite sure if you will be able to order such disk no due to the notebook age.

The message means that your internal hard has been damaged. This message always comes up when the file system is corrupted. I suggest to remove it, connect the hard drive into a different computer as an external drive (use usb caddy), perform a backup if possible and the format the hard drive and restore the factory settings. I'm afraid that you have to reformat the hard drive, a checkdisk scan won't help..
The error message means that the Boot Sector is corrupt or has been damaged. It does not mean that the hard disk is damaged.
This is a fixable issue. There are a few command line tools that can be used.
You will  need to make an appropriate version (32-bit / 64-bit) of the Windows 7 repair disc from a working Windows 7 installation. You will need either a USB or CD to create your rapair CD/USB. Follow the instructions on this video to create the repair installation of your choice..You will will be using the manual boot sector repair that is described in this video to repair your Windows 7 Boot sector.  Use the Windows 7 repair disc or repair USB thumb drive that you created earlier to accomplish the repair.

  • Recovery Problem

I have a Dell Latitude X200 laptop (with Windows XP Pro) and a Zire 31.  My use of the Zire is restricted to its Calendar and Contacts features.  On April 29 the Palm data on the Dell was seriously corrupted.  The Zire has not been HotSynced for over a month.  BUT, by using the “Export” option in the Zire’s Calendar and Contacts sections, I had saved those two datasets to a flash drive on April 27.  I want to:  1) Remove all present data from the Dell and the Zire.  2) Copy the saved Calendar and Contacts data from the flash drive into the Dell.  3) Perform a “HotSync” to copy the correct data in the Dell into the Zire.  Is there any hope that I can get my April 27 data back into the Dell where it belongs, and then into the Zire?

    A couple of things:
Reset system bios to the defaults - F2 at start up to enter the bios f9 to set to defaults and then f10 to save.
    then try to start.
Did you have any problems before trying to recover, slow or lagging response, etc. These problems can be caused by virus/maleware and also a failing hard drive.
The recovery may not be completing because of bad sectors on the drive - a failing hard drive.

  • Mac OS recovery problem. Need help

    Hello toevery one.
I have defective SATA cable to HD bay now. And also new clean SDD Samsung 840 Pro 240 GB (without data or any OS on it) installed in HD bay
I've ordered a new cable, but I'd like to use the SSD untill then, if it was possible so I decided to change my HDD (that on working properly SATA cable) and SDD (that on defective SATA cable) in places and restore Mac OS via external HDD with Time Machine image on faster SSD. So now my new SSD on the optical drive bay with working properly SATA cable and HDD on HD bay with defective SATA cable.
    And I faced a problem...
    1. I've made configuration of SSD and erased the contents of the SSD and formated it as "Mac O S Extended (Journaled)" with a single GUID partition.
    2. I chose the most fresh Image on my HDD that has been prepared in advance and started to wait.
    3. The recovery of the system froze on 0,5% and estimated time started to rapidly increase. I've cancelled it when estimated time of full recovery was about 24 hours. System hanged and I turned it off by pressing POWER button.
    4. I repeated all the operations again.
    5. The recovery froze on 3,8% and estimated time started to grow up again.
    6. I've took a look on log file and saw that some host can't be reached or found.
Do you know what is the problem?
    Thank you!

  • USB Recovery problem

I received my USB Recovery device. I followed directions of turning off computer, inserting USB, Hit escape, then I get the startup Menu. When I hit F9 as instructed, I get a Blue Recovery screen that says
Your PC needs to be repaired
The boot configuration data is missing some required information
    File:\BCD
    Error code: 0xc0000034
I can not get past this point. Any help please!!

    Hi McCarterRN.
Did you order a USB recovery stick from HP?
Are you testing the USB recovery device or is your PC unbootable?
If your PC is functioning correctly you can, for additional peace of mind, create DVD or USB recovery media by using HP's Recovery Manager. I cannot direct you to instructions on creating recovery media as I do not know your product number and factory installed operating system (OS). If you have upgraded your OS this will present additional obstacles.
Please provide the factory and current operating system you are using. Please provide your HP product number.
HP product number instructions can be found here.

  • TOSHIBA NB550D-111 Recovery problem due to swm error

I own a NB550D-111 (preinstalled W7 Starter SP1 32 bit, av Security Essentials), used mainly for browsing, chat and Skype. Following the july updates, the OS began greeting me with blue screen at every start. I choosed "Startup repair", and after some 20 minutes and one restart, the OS was up and running. The next restart, the same scenario. Every time I ran "Startup repair", sometimes 3 or 4 times to get the system working.
I did a System Restore, but no luck. Still the same blue screen at startup. I ran Check Disc at startup from Command Prompt with /F and /R switches, no errors found. After four days, Startup Repair was unable to solve the blue screen even if I spent almost 4 hours restarting and either choosing Startup Repair or do System Restore.
I went to Restore Factory Settings OS from the recovery partition. I wanted to keep My Documents folder, I changed the location to the second partition). Imagex gave an error at 70% applying the image (a .ttc file that cannot be copied), and after reboot BOOTMGR was missing. I used the usb recovery stick made shortly after I bought the netbook using Toshiba Recovery media creator, wich wiped clean the HDD (eventually lost my files, that's it), re-partitioned and copied the .swm files in the HDDRecovery folder. When applying the image to C: partition, Imagex also gave an error at 70%, the same ttc file.
I installed a clean copy of Starter, installed SP1 and updates and activated online using the serial number from the COA sticker. At first the newly installed OS was incredibly fast (I have only the drivers and Flash Cards installed, no other application from Toshiba), but after the SP1 update the boot time trippled. From my previous experiences with Windows XP, a slipstreamed SP installation of Windows behaves better than one updated with windows update. I'm thinking of a way to reinstall the Toshiba Windows, even full of bloatware as it is, then stop the programs I don't use trough msconfig and services.msc (just as I did in when I bought the netbook).

    Update:
I installed WAIK and the supplement for SP1 of Windows 7.
I got errors when saving the modified wim. I needed to change permissions and owner (Trusted Installer) in the Windows folder, and after copying the files restore old permissions. The modified wim was saved but at unmount left behind in exactly the folders I tangled with in Windows folder. The other modified folders were saved with no problems.
    So, I tried a modified metod 1:
Downloaded 7-zip portable, expanded and ran once in a folder on the second partition (D:) of the HDD.
Created an USB bootable stick with WinRE image found in the HDDRecovery tools.
Booted from USB, started 7-Zip from command prompt. Opened the SWM file and copied all the files in the second folder to the C: partition. Using 7-Zip as a file manager, I replaced the corrupted files with their good variants stored also on the second partition. This time no problems, all files copied ok, no need to change permissions.
Rebooted from HDD, BOOTMGR missing. Booted from USB, the instalation was found and repaired (in two stages). After another reboot from HDD, I was greeted with the "Preparing your computer for the first use". The factory installation took more than 2.5 hours (installation of drivers in the sysprep phase was very slow), instead of a half hour for a clean installation. At the end of sysprep (just before OOBE phase), after reboot BOOTMGR missing, resolved again as indicated earlier.
It took another 3 hours to uninstall bundled Nero, McAfee and Windows Live +applying updates and installing usual programs.
Hope this will help someone in the same situation.
    Regards,
    Bogdan

  • Product recovery problems on Satellite Pro A200

    Hi
I have a Satellite Pro A200. It is running very slowly and sometimes it freezes up when I log on.
Also the homepage has been hijacked and I have tried several anti spyware programs and they have not worked.
I have the product recovery disc but the problem the DVD rom drive has stopped working.
The light is on but it will not open unless I use the manual release.
I have removed it and checked the connections but it seems o.k.
The DVD/CD rom has disappeared from the device manager and does not show up under hardware.
I have tried system restore but this also will not work.
Is there anyway you can use the product recovery software if you boot from a USB key?
I have tried restarting the computer and choosing boot from CD but it will not give me that option.
I have looked in the bios and the only boot options that it gives are harddrive, CD rom, land and FDD

    > Is there anyway you can use the product recovery software if you boot from a USB key?
No, this Toshiba Recovery disk cannot be copied to USB flash memory stick and used for OS installation. Im afraid this would not work.
But if youve got an Microsoft Windows CD you should be able to create an bootable USB flash memory stick. In internet you will find many useful step by step instructions how to create such bootable USB stick.
But booting from USB flash memory stick should be definitely possible since the BIOS supports following bootable devices:
USB FDD, HDD, ODD, Network(LAN), USB Memory

  • Internet recovery problem

    Hello,
when I turn on my MacBook Pro, a folder with a question mark appears and does not stop blinking. After some research, I tried a few methods to resolve the issue. No matter what buttons I press and hold, it takes me to internet recovery. I attached the ethernet cable to my MacBook (it's faster) and everything was running smoothly - there was a spinning globe and a loading progress bar with a time. My problem is that once the bar loads, the screen goes blank grey and nothing happens. I'm told that utilities is supposed to load.
Can anyone provide me with any suggestions? I am running out of time and do not know how long it would take for my MacBook to get serviced.
My MacBook ran on Lion and was the mid 2012 edition.

Start the MBP with the OPTION key down.  The display should show the internal HDD icon and the recovery partition.  Click on the recovery partition and there will be a 4 option menu.  Select Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
If successful, restart the MBP.  If not, then you will need a new HDD.
    Ciao.
