A505-S6025 has no display when powering on (Solved)

The other night I had my computer set up to an external monitor via HDMI. The display setting were set up as an extended screen so my friend could watch a program while I was working on other things. We let the battery die after the program was over because I had forgotten my charger. Upon plugging my laptop back in I powered it on. There was no display. The lights for the media controls light up but that's it. The fan runs, the cd drive I can hear trying to start up but that's it. The hard drive light flicks on when I pressed the power button but after that remains off. I tried to hook up my friends external screen to my laptop again but both screens are blank. I remove the power cable, turned off the laptop, took out the battery, held the power button, plugged the power cord in, and still no results. I did those steps again even plugging the battery back in before the power and still nothing. The laptop had been working just fine before hand. I let the laptop sit turned off and charging over night and this didn't resolve it either. I'm all out of ideas and I'm over seas on deployment and really have no way of getting it serviced. Any help?

I found the solution to this issue this morning. I took a good look over my laptop and thank goodness I had the schooling on how to do all this. I took out the hard drive, powered on the laptop and immediately the display came up. It then gave the error "no bootable device" which I knew was going to show since i had removed the hard drive. I turned off the computer, reconnected the hard drive, and now it works just fine. I just wonder who in the world designed the laptop to be fixed like that. It was ridiculous! Luckily enough I had a mini screwdriver set in my workshop or I would've been stuck...

Telnet has garbled display when I type

When I'm typing commands in to Telnet they're coming back with an echo type of display and it doesn't always make sense. It can skip characters or I can type too fast and they will display out of order.
Example:
I type SET ?
I see SEST ET ?? or something like that.
All commands in Telnet work though, just the display is bad. Is there a way to turn the echo off?

Hello Jake,
It looks as if you have your local echo turned on. This means that your own computer is also echoing back what you type on the screen. This can be switched off as the remote host also sends any character back that it receives. That's why you are seeing all characters twice.
I cannot give you specific hints about turning local echo off. The exact setting depends on your telnet emulation but when you walk through the menu's, you should find it somewhere.

Mac doesn't display when powering on

Everytime I power on my Mac mini, my monitor doesn't display the Apple logo, it is black. Then after a while, It shows the desktop. Can there be something wrong with my system?
My monitor is connected with a mini display port to a VGA adapter on a VGA monitor? The monitor is a dell 1704FPT

Content Canvas not displaying when form entered

I have a form that has not been updated since 2009. Some time between then and now the key block has stopped displaying when the form is entered. I can get it to display if I do the previous item key. I have tried setting the Raise on Entry to Yes but that did not work. Any thoughts on what might be the issue would be appreciated.

The KEY_BLOCK has 2 navigable fields and a display only field. When I bring up the form, the tabular block is showing but the Key_Block is not. I navigate backwards into the last field in the key_block and that is when the block becomes visible. It does not stay visible at all times after I see it for the first time. I have not mapped out the exact circumstances where it disappears again. This seems to have become a problem after we moved to 11g. Any thoughts?

27 LED Cinema Display Audio and Brightness when powering MacBook Pro

When my 27 LED Cinema Display is powering my (or another) 2009 13" MacBook Pro, I have experienced three issues:
1. The dropped audio problem other users have mentioned. Shutdown, then disconnect power/usb/displayport, then wait ~15s, then reconnect and reboot temporarily fixes the problem.
2. I also have the sluggish keyboard behavior when adjusting the volume that others have mentioned.
3. I have experienced shifts in display brightness which are obvious when the display is dimmed. I have disabled the ambient light sensor as well as any interfering power management or energy saver settings. Opening apps, scrolling and other normal activities seem to aggravate this behavior.
This last strange behavior inspired me to try using a power adapter for the MacBook Pro instead of display's laptop power connector. *Doing so seems to have resolved all three issues.*
It seems that this may indicate an underlying problem with the display's power supply. Can anyone confirm?

(1) I have never had any deaths associated with my screen, but on rare occasions my display's brightness will flicker when I manually adjust the brightness. The hotfix you said is for Microsoft SQL Server 2008. So it will not work on your scenario since you are using SQL Server 2008 R2.
Based on the limited information, we cannot give you the exact reason that cause this issue. In order to narrow down this issue, you can apply the latest Service Pack and Cumulative Update as GregGalloway said. Besides, you can troubleshoot this issue by
using the Windows Event logs and msmdsrv.log.
You can access Windows Event logs via "Administrative Tools" --> "Event Viewer". SSAS error messages will appear in the application log.
The msmdsrv.log file for the SSAS instance that can be found in \log folder of the instance. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Log)

Can the sounds of an active hard drive be heard at some point (indicating a normal startup)?
There is a problem with the graphics processing unit (GPU) and its ball grid array (BGA) on some iBook computers, leading to similar symptoms. Reflowing (resoldering) the BGA is a work for specialists, and is going to be expensive. A web search will return a number of more or less realistic alternative attempts to solve the issue. Outside pressure applied to the affected area has sometimes been used for troubleshooting, or even as a temporary "solution".
It is of course possible that the iBook in question has a completely different fault, such as a broken display cable.

This happened to me and I was baffled for a bit. I went to my contact list and that contact (that was now a number) had disappeared. Then, multiple contacts started disappearing. Subsequently, they reappeared but in duplicate and sometimes triplicate. I believe that it had something to do with iCloud sync. I ended up removing the contacts (in settings) and then bringing them back in. Everything seemed to work after that.

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II. How do I connect? 4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI. 5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one. I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI. Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870. That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.

I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can. From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance. The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs. Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA. I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000. Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected? I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are. I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4. Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

My safari will not open after downloading librooksbas.dylib plug in. message that is displayed when i try and open is "safari quit unexpectedly while using the librooksbas.dylib plug in" i can either re-open or ok the error to which neither work :(

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
8. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
