  • Learning Java proxies - landscape question

    Hi guys,
    I could use a little help to learn Java Proxies, I'm just starting to get familiar with Java, I'm coming from the ABAP side.
    First and foremost what do I need from the system point view?
    We have an XI box and using file/FTP/IDoc adapters and also ABAP Proxies, I wrote some Java (mapping)functions, I am familiar with these.
    But for a Java proxy, I would need a separate Java server(?) to run the application on, is this correct?
    Can I use my own PC for this? (for learning purposes), I have NWDS installed on my PC.
    What are the steps to write a small simple Java Proxy.
    I would very much appreciate some help, guys, how do I start?
    Thanks a lot,
    Viktor

    Hi Viktor,
    You can work from your own machine. Becuase in Java Proxy scenarios, you are deploying EAR files in the XI server, and thru XI , you are executing the method written in the Java Application.
    Just check these links-

  • What is ABAP/JAVA Proxy and whats the use of it?

    Hello All,
    What is ABAP/JAVA Proxy. And why do we need to use them? I am not sure of the definitions given on help.sap.com. Thats the reason I am posting this question. Right answer will be rewarded. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Farooq.

    HI Farooq
    <u><i>ABAP Proxy</i></u>
    ABAP server proxy is created for the inbound interface creted in XI's Integration repository proxy should be created in the business system for which the interface is created .
    U can reference following link :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/02/265c3cf311070ae10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    Server Proxies are generated for Inbound Message Interfaces. These are used to Process the Data coming into SAP System from an external application.
    Sproxy is the transaction to generate Proxies.
    Plz refer to this blog on abap server proxies

    <u><i>Java Proxy</i></u>
    Java Proxoies are used to allows your java Applications ( j2ee, j2se applications )to interact directly to the Integration Server of XI without any special adapters.
    All documents are available on SDN itself .

    Proxies help you achieve non-standard functionality for which the out of box XI adapters do not suffice. Just to give you an example, consider a system with which XI has to integrate , the only interface the system offers is a TCP / IP socket based interface. You could write a Java proxy which would interact over sockets with your target system, which is not possible with other standard adapters which are shipped with your XI installation
    You can refer demo on SDN TV, on this link

  • Java maping and java proxies

    Hi
    Can i use in the java mapping proxies classes generated for interfaces?
    Or i can get in trouble because of library reference.
    Florin

    Proxies are essentially the APIs, or the programming lines of code, that are generated for the target application language like ABAP/JAVA/.Net.
    In some of the real time applications, each time it's not necessary to have particular Business Systems for send/ receive messages with SAP XI.
    Sap XI provides diff. options to generate interfaces with ABAP / Java Applications such as as Proxies.
    <b>ABAP Proxy :</b>
    1. With ABAP proxy generation function it will be possible to generate ABAP proxy objects to an SAP system from an interface description in the SAP Exchange Infrastructure Integration Repository.
    2. ABAP proxy objects can only be generated for SAP systems that are based on SAP Web Application Server 6.40.
    If you use ABAP Proxy , you can reduce the overhead calling the function again and again.

    <b>Java Proxy:</b>
    1. JAVA proxy is used for J2EE based systems communicating with XI for sending or processing msgs in those J2EE based systems
    2.It allows java applications to interact directly to Integration server with avoiding the configurations for the special adapters

  • Creating Java Proxies

    Hi all,
    We have a scenario for RFC -> Xi -> Java Application. We need to inoke certain functionlities provided by the java application through RFC. As per my understanding, i need to create the relevant interfaces and then invoke the java application by writing Java Proxies.
    Can any body please suggest if:
    1. My approach is correct? if no, then what is the possible solution?
    2. If Its correct then how to create java proxies. Can any body please provide me a link to a blog with sample application?
    Any help will be appriciated.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Kulwant Singh

    Hi Kulwanth,
    Java Proxies are Java Class files to access the R/3. If u create an RFC Model for a BAPI/RFC enabled FM the system will automatically create Java Proxy classes for ur R/3 connection.
    The Java proxies for the message interfaces are generated using the Integration Builder tool (Design) in the menu Tools --> Java Proxy Generation and subsequently by selecting the message interfaces
    Java proxies, the Integration Builder tool is used
    1) The Java proxies for the message interfaces are generated using the Integration Builder tool (Design) in the menu Tools ---> Java Proxy Generation and subsequently by selecting the message interfaces.
    Using the Java Proxy runtime we can Receive messages or Send messages to the Integration Server. The Java proxy runtime supports J2EE applications on the SAP J2EE Engine using Enterprise Java Beans 2.0. Synchronous and Asynchronous Outbound and Inbound communication is possible with Proxy Beans.
    Check some links on proxies.

  • ABAP & Java Concepts required for SAP-NW XI/PI

    Hi Experts,
        As a fresher, I want to start a career in SAP ans SAP Netweaver- XI/PI. After going through some blogs, forum, sap stuff etc, I came to know the prerequisites for XI is both ABAP and Java...
    But I am not sure which concepts in ABAP and Java are required for an SAP XI consultant, as I see SAP itself is an Ocean. So Apart from XI concepts , what are all the concepts needed in ABAP and Java.
    As for XI concepts are concerned there is a lot of stuff in SDN itself. Only thing is, one shd have patience to search and proper guidance while learning.

    something quite common a question but here is a small desc.
    ABAP -
    for scenarios involving, IDoc, RFC, ABAP proxies and ABAP mappings
    Java -
    Core java - UDFs in graphical mapping
    advanced - java mapping, adapter modules, java proxies etc

  • Problems in Dialog instance installation for ECC6.0(ABAP+JAVA)

    Does anyone can help me what should be a procedure of installing Dialog instance for ECC 6.0 with both ABAP + Java Stacks.
    When installing app server do we also choose ABAP and Java or just ABAP. Installation manual does not cover this and when we run the sapinst we have following problem:
    <u>The following are the activities that I have done as pre-reqs on the standby on the server that is to host dialog instance</u>
    I have mounted the following file systems on ddrsap02. Created the local filesystem /usr/sap/DSP/D00 and NFS mounted the others…
    /dev/appsaph      5505024   5503856    1%        5     1% /usr/sap/DSP/D00 <b>(is this required or SAPINST should create it itself)</b>
    ddrsap00:/stage   419430400 149761708   65%    90835     1% /stage
    dprsap01:/sapmnt/DSP     4718592   2888416   39%    12790     2% /sapmnt/DSP
    ddrsap12:/usr/sap/trans     2752512   1084932   61%     5107     3% /usr/sap/trans
    Then when I run the sapinst from ddrsap02 to install the DI I get the following error

    Am I missing some pre-reqs or variable definitions?
    I was going through the documentation and it says that  /sapmnt/DSP/exe should be a local filesystem for a DI on a separate server. Will this create a problem ?
    Also they talk about starting sapinst with the variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME set to ddrsap02. I have tried this also
    We are also not 100% sure about the settings for parameters:
    rdisp/mssserv
    rdisp/mssserv_internal
    Accorss Devault Instance and Services Instance profile.
    When we define it as per installation GUIDE (Abap+Java page 64) we get the popup message in SAPINST:

    Other errors follow shortly.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi ,
    are you able to resolve this error :Profile parameter rdisp/msserv_internal is not set for instance DVEBMGS01/DSP on host dprsap01.
    You have to set the parameter in the default profile and restart the instance.

  • In ABAP+Java system installation

    Hi,
    I installed ABAP+Java system On that i installed XI 3.0 SR1.I after applying the J2EERTOS11_0-20000118.SAR patch on J2EE engine.This patch consist of lot of bugs.I just stopped the installation of patch.After again when i log on to J2EE engine with port 50000.Its showing no page dispaly on localhost.I checked the J2EE instance.J2EE instance running properly.Even i can't log in to SDM and J2EE administartor.
    Before patching I can able to log in.But now its loging failing.
    May be the error is at 50000 port.I installed everything on one Central instance.
    Need urgent reply.

    Hello,
    i think that you want to patch your j2ee-server. Therefore you have to download four parts for PATCH SP11.
    Support Packages and Patches > SAP NetWeaver > SAP NETWEAVER SAP NETWEAVER 04 > Java Server:
    J2EERT11_0-10001982.SAR (Part 4/4)
    SAPINST10_0-20000118.SAR
    J2EERTOS11_0-20000118.SAR
    CTRL<database>11_0-20000118.sar
    You have to download all these files and extract then in one folder - there you have to use the sapinst and install the patch.
    I hope i understood your requirement the right way.
    Regards,
    Andr'e

  • SSO within an ABAP+JAVA on the same host

    Experts:
    We have a dual stack (ABAP+JAVA) NW04s on the same host.
    The usage type EP7 is enabled.
    From this EP7 we want to access its own ITS thru SSO.
    We configured the SSO just like we did for the EP7 + ECC on 2 different hosts.
    However, we are always asked for an ID/password when trying to test the SSO from the EP7.
    The error is:
    "SSO logon not possible; browser logon ticket cannot be accepted"
    Please advise. Points guaranteed. Thanks!

    hi,
    I also tried to do the same, but i think it's not possible.
    I read somewhere that SAP recommends to use different instances of ABAP and Java. I installed seperate ABAP and Java instances on the same host and then configured SSO using the Configuration Wizard in NWA configuration. and it works perfectly.

    Ankur

  • SSO To J2EE engine of ABAP+JAVA Addin Install

    Hi all,
    I have setup an SAP system as a ABAPJAVA Addin Install.  The system is running NW04s SP11.  I have an SAP Portal installed on the JAVA side to support some BW functions.  I would like to do SSO from the users desktop directly to the portal component.  Is this possible with this type of install?  I have setup Kerberos / SPNego with a JAVA only install connected to a Microsoft ADS.  I have also configured the system to use MYSAPSSO2 tickets from another SAP system, but that requires the users to go to the other SAP system before going to ABAPJAVA Addin system.  I would like the users to go directly to the ABAP+JAVA Addin system via a URL like http://server:port/irj/... and get single signed on to the system.  Is this possible?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Russ Scherbarth

    Hello Russ,
    yes it is possible to configure SSO using SPNego Loginmodule (Kerberos) for this type of system as well. You also can use the SPNego configuration wizard to get the configuration work done, but you need to perform some manual follow up work as well.
    So my recommendation is check the online documentation for wizard based configuration AND manual configuration, perform the wizard based configuration (more or less the same as you did for the other system) and afterwards (depending on your JDK) you might have to perform some manual follow up activities.
    Select as user resolution mode prefixbased, the attribute to be used is uniquename. In addition you need to create the service user in the portal database (when using SUN JDK), as you do not have direct connection to Active Directory.
    With best regards,
    René

  • Error while applying Java Patch 16 on WAS 640 ABAP+JAVA

    Hello Masters,
    I am in process of applying Patch 16 to my BW 3.5 WAS 640 ABAP+JAVA systems.  I have successfully applied ABAP patch level to 16.  Now I am applying to J2EE Patch 16 to system. I did prerequisite check and everything is okay.  Platform - Sun Solaris 9, Oracle 9.2.0.6.  When I click on apply Patch 16, it goes thru central instance profile, java home directory okay. After this it is asking me to supply file for JCE and I gave path for file "jce_policy-1_4_2.zip".  after that it extracts this file to Java_home/jre and at point when it tries to extract visual.dat, it throws following error :

        if (!this.hasJ2EE()) {

            return undefined;
        var fmgt = new FileMgt();
        var instanceProfile = this.getProfile();
        var javaHome = instanceProfile.get("jstartup/vm/home");
        if (javaHome) {
            return javaHome.value();
        var pname = this.getDirInstance() + "/j2ee/cluster/instance.properties";
        var pNode = fmgt.getNode(pname);

    Hello Digesh,
    The firt thing please go to os level prompt for <SID>adm user and type echo $JAVA_HOME. What is the value that is reflected after issuing the above.
    Also please check that your SAP-J2EE instance is running properly or not.
    The JCE is used for Weak and strong encryption.
    Also please check the instance.properties file. Does it contain proper parameter as per your SAP installation.

    Hi,
    - go to the install dir (/tmp/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install)
    - unpack the J2EEINSTALL.SAR via
    /sapmnt/FND/exe/SAPCAR -xvf /sapcd/java/J2EE_OSINDEP/J2EE-INST/J2EEINSTALL.SAR
    then retry. It works!
