About JavaScript and LiveCycle Designer generally

Conditional statements have to get structure strictly, i. e. else has to followed after if. Never without, otherwise you will get confused solution!

You should be able to open the form. As far as edits, you will have to go to the FORMS menu. The TOOLS>Forms is for the AcroForms, not LiveCycle. The FORMS menu is generally your entry to LiveCycle. If you do not have that, it is apparently an issue with Std (I thought they had added Forms to AA9 Std).

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 and LiveCycle Designer

We have had some outside help creating forms and they have been using LiveCycle Designer and we would like to make some changes however since we only have Acrobat 9 we are not able to open the form to edit fields. When looking at the help menu in Acrobat is stays that You can use LiveCycle designer to edit forms that were created in Acrobat, however Acrobat can not edit forms fields that have been opened and saved in LiveCycle Designer.
With that said, do we have LiveCycle and we just dont know about it? Our outside help seems to think we should have it? does anyone know a work around? Thanks!

  • LiveCyle Forms and LiveCycle Designer - Merging data

    Hello,
    I´m using the following products:
    Adobe Professional/Reader/Livecycle Designer = 8
    LiveCycle FormServer (Forms) = 7.0
My questions are about using livecycle forms with livecycle Forms. I think this is the right forum because the functionality I´m getting seems to be more designer related.
The goal: merge data with template and execute some code (server side) while letting the template dynamic at client side.
    1) Merge a xml file with a xdp file
The data is well merged. The code is executed at client and at server side.
    2) Merge a xml file with a dynamic 8 pdf file
    I get this message:
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html
I think this is "normal" because the version of LiveCycle Forms I´m using is 7.0. But if I want to work with pdf 8 files, what is the right version of Livecycle Forms? Do I need to whait until version 8? Where can I update (or download trial) of the latest versions: 7.1; 7.2?
    Used:
    RenderAtClient=true
    FormPreference = "PDFForm";
    3) Merge a xml file with a dynamic 7 pdf file
Doesn´t work: data will not merge; code will not run at the server and client side code will not work, too. However, if I try to merge the data with a dynamic pdf form created with livecycle designer 7.1, the data will merge.
In my opinion there are incompatible differences between how a liveCycle 7.1 pdf form and a Livecycle 8 pdf form (saved with version 7) is worked by LiveCycle Forms.
Despite this, there is some bugs in Livecycle Forms when working with PDF files. It woks well with xdp but not with pdf, maybe because a xdp is more simple to work with...
Is this solved in other versions? Where can I get them?
    Thank you

Forms are forms. They don't change just because you upload them. While it has nothing to do with LiveCycle as such, FC should be able to open your frorm and convert it. In any case, ask such specific questions in teh relevant product forums.

  • I installed Acrobat XI through the Creative Cloud and without notice it remove my perpetual license of Acrobat 10 Pro and LiveCycle Designer.

It all worked okay when I had Acrobat 10 and 11 installed from perpetual licenses, it's only when Creative Cloud got into the mix.  Anyone find a way to keep Creative Cloud from breaking this?

Thanks for the explanation Sabian, now can you share with me how I can get Creative Cloud to do a custom install so I can keep it from removing LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat 10.  When I installed it from CDs I had no problem & got everything to work just right.  I don't really care if it's supported by Adobe or not I just need it to work.

  • Trouble with WebServices and LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.1.3

    Hi,
Eventually I want to create a rather complex form that users will use to create a Change Request in our ticketing system through a webservice exposed by the same ticketing solution.  However, right now I'm just attempting to create a very simple form as proof of concept.  It's connected to a webservice that accepts two inputs a string and a datetime and returns 4 or 5 values that aren't necessary to display on the form but would be nice.
I've made the Data connection using the wizard and input the correct WSDL location and ES2 does see the webservice and pulls in the fields, including the execute button, that corresponds to the webservice.  However, once I populate the fields and attempt to execute the call with the pre-packaged button, nothing happens. No errors and the call is never sent to the server.  I've independantly verified that the webservice is reachable via the computer that I'm testing with and also that's it's accessible via others on the network.  What appears to happen is that the call to the webservice is never sent from the PDF.  If I change the execution option from Client to Server then I get an error message as such "Couldn't post data to''.  Which makes sense, I think, since I don't have a LiveCycle Server.
Can anyone help?  What am I doing wrong?  I'd attach the file, but I don't seem to have the option.
    Thanks,
    CJ

Are you testing in Acrobat or Reader. My guess is Reader.....Reader does not support Web Service calls on its own. You can Reader Extend the form to allow Reader to do the Web Service call. To be able to do that you will need LiveCycle Reader Extensions server to do the extending for you.
For testing I suggest that you download the trial version of Acrobat (it does not have this restriction) and see if it satisfies your needs. Then you can decide if it is more economical to buy Reader Extensions server or buy copies of Acrobat for your users.
    Hope that helps

  • LiveCycle Designer vs. LiveCycle Designer ES

    Hello,
Is LiveCycle Designer same as LiveCycle Designer ES??
I received an "extra" application when I recently bought Acrobat Professional. The title bar says it is LiveCycle Designer. Everywhere I look for information on Adobe site all I see is LiveCycle Designer ES. Even when I purchased I tried to find out more about this extra product and found the site very confusing.
I don't trust Adobe enough to assume the two are the same.
So far, I have found Designer to be hard to work with and it has crashed several times, generally during copy/paste of page elements. It's so bad I thought perhaps the product I had was a beta or very early version and went to look for service packs or updates. My Acrobat Pro says it's the latest version and LiveCycle Designer doesn't seem to know what it is...
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hello,
    thanks for the reply.
Why the heck don't they put ES on the title bar then and eliminate some of their confusion?
Someone at Adobe needs to step back and take a look at their business from the perspective of people NEW to Adobe. I for one have only ever used the Reader and Acrobat in the past.
Seems like their marketing department has mastered technobabble.
Perhaps users are either Adobe or not Adobe. I for one find adobe.com and the Adobe product array terribly confusing and unorganized.

  • How can I get LiveCycle Designer 7.1?

I'd like to know how I can get LiveCycle Designer 7.1.
I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and LiveCycle Designer 7.0.
    How to update?
    Please tell me about infomation.

LiveCycle Designer 7 was packaged with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.  I would suggest buying the latest version of LiveCycle that suites your needs.  Check out http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle

  • Why not include LiveCycle Designer with Creative Cloud subscription?

Creative Cloud offers quite a few premier Adobe products - which is great !! So how about Adobe offering LiveCycle Designer with Creative Cloud? It would be awesome ...

I wish I had enough time to tell you the hell I went through to get a my copy of LC3.
Long story short: Company purchased CC with CS6 and Acrobat 9 that comes with LC2. Saw a new version of Acrobat X released and LC3. Upgraded to Acrobat X and figured LC3 would come along since we had ALL Adobe applications because of our CC. Installed, noticed my LC2 had been uninstalled due to Acrobat X upgrade... TOOK MANY MANY MANY Custome support call to to find out NO ONE knew anything about LC2 and LC3 being on CC..., ended up with upgrade to LC3 after filing form to receive physical copy. Still angry at the whole thing.
Not only this, but LC4 is now out and it is not a free upgrade. But this is fine because nothing much changed from LC3.
So note. LC2 Came with first Creative Cloud due to Acrobat 9, then removed when Acrobat X released. LC2 deleted, no LC3 upgrade.
Message was edited by: TDRonline: Forgot to mention the downtime we had because we had to wait for our physical copy that took 2 weeks to arrive.

  • LiveCycle Designer ES alignment issues...

    Hi,
I have created few forms in Adobe Output Designer (IFD). I have converted those Adobe Output Designer (IFD) files to Adobe Livecycle ES (XDP). I have successful converted those IFD files to XDP, but I found some alignment problems in XDP files.
It’s not matching 100% with the IFD files.
    Any suggestions are welcome.....
    Regards,
    Jayakumar Sriram

    Hi Carl,
    Thanks for your response.
When we compare the printouts between Adobe output Designer(IFD) and Adobe livecycle designer ES (XDP), there seems to be difference appx 0.030 (X axis) and 0.064 (Y axis). But the position in output designer and livecycle designer are same for both. Every form we are adjusting the positions and compare the results between adobe output designer and LC designer.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Populate a PDF done with Adobe Livecycle Designer

I have a pdf from an institution and I have been asked to populate it directly with data saved in an excel file. I have found that the pdf was done with adobe livecycle designer and with that program I can see the name of the fields in the form.
The pdf can be found in:
    https://sedeelectronica.bde.es/f/websede/content/SPA/Form_TRA_clientes.pdf
I have thought to use a VB macro in the excel file to populate the pdf. I have been searching on Internet but by now, I am only able to read the values of the fields, but I can't change them. I know that the code below doesn't work with XFA Forms, but I have read a lot of documentation and I can't find anything else.
    Here is the code:
    Set gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.app")
    Set avDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
    If avDoc.Open(FileNm, "") Then
       Set pdDoc = avDoc.GetPDDoc()
       Set jso = pdDoc.GetJSObject()
    jso.Getfield("FrmSolicitudTransferenciaEuros[0].FormContent[0].ordena nte[0].datosOrdenanteExterno[0].ordenante[0]").Value  = "new value"
        pdDoc.Save 1, FileNm
        pdDoc.Close
    End If
    avDoc.Close (True)
Can anybody write an example explaining how to do that with XFA?
    Thank you in advance.

You might want to instead use an XML schema to map cells in your Excel spreadsheet to fields in your form. Then you would just export the XML data from your spreadsheet and import it into your form to populate the fields.
That should get you started. Refer to Excel and LiveCycle Designer documentation for further details.

  • Acrobat Professional versus LiveCycle Designer

I am looking into some training for LiveCycle Designer to be able to create a form that will be accesible for my volunteers via email or a webpage. When they fill out this form I want to be able to transfer the data into an Excel spreadsheet and filter to my reporting need. There is an institute offering a bundle which includes Adobe Acrobat Professional level 1 and 2 and LiveCycle Designer. I can also just take LiveCycle Designer but I don't know if knowing Adobe Acrobat Professional will be beneficial to know to what I want to do. Can some one please explain the major difference between each? And would you recommend me taking both trainings for Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer?
    Thank you,
    D.leon

Personally I would say that this sounds like the right "bundle". Creating forms in Designer for publication (respecting the EULA) will require use of Acrobat to "extend" those forms and then capture the data back into a local table (pdf, excel, acrobat.com, etc.).
If you were just creating forms to be pushed into an enterprise distribution system like LiveCycle, then just Designer would be fine. In your scenario it sounds like Acrobat would be the distribution and data capture mechanism so both courses are a good idea.

  • Is it too much to ask that a Mac user can just OPEN and USE a PDF form created by LiveCycle Designer PC software?!?

My problem is just that- I have created all my forms using LiveCycle Designer because it is easier to make the forms accessible to individuals with disabilities.  Apparently it doesn't make Mac users have access to the forms.  I've received complaints from Mac users that cannot complete or submit the forms that I created.  I'm not asking how to recreate using another software, I know how to do that.  I'm asking is there a work around to allow a Mac user to open a PDF form or even XML (bedded within an HTML page) on a Mac computer WITHOUT having to use bootcamp, parallels, etc. and be able to complete the form and submit, print or email it?????  I've exhausted all my knowledge on this thus far and I'm hoping to find something that will help.  So far all forums talk about how Mac users need to have a PC side to their computer.  Isn't there another way?
I've attached an example form that we are no longer using (though still created exactly the same as the others)
    Thanks!

Hi, as far as I can infer, that term means it's not loading any resources until needed, opposite of this...
    -bind_at_load
Sets a bit in the mach header of the resulting binary which tells dyld to bind all symbols                when the binary is loaded, rather than lazily.
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/ld.1.html
    Load resources lazily.
You should never load a resource file until it is actually needed. Prefetching resource files may seem like a way to save time, but this practice actually slows down your app right away. In addition, if you end up not using the resource, loading it wastes memory for no good purpose.

And, higher OS versionsare even worse with Bonjour/mDNSResponder, but might see this...

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it came with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES.  When I create a new document with Acrobat 9, it takes me right into LiveCycle for the design, which I do not mind.  However, the properties for each field are very limited in comparaison with Acrobat 9.  So, the file I create with LiveCycle I want to be able to open again with Acrobat 9 and reach the field properties with Acrobat 9, but the system does not allow me to do that.  What am I doing wrong?

To force uppercase, enter the following in the change event as JavaScript (make sure JavaScipt is selected in the language dropdown list at the top right):
    xfa.event.change = xfa.event.change.toUpperCase();
As you can see in the picture, there are many palettes available on the right side to edit fields. Hope this helps.

  • I have downloaded a trail version of adobe acrobat pro and when I try to use it, it says that it cannot be edited in acrobat, please use adobe livecycle designer to edit this form. I can't work out what I need to do?

I have downloaded a trail version of adobe acrobat pro and when I try to use it, it says that it cannot be edited in acrobat, please use adobe livecycle designer to edit this form. I can't work out what I need to do?

Acrobat XI is not distributed with Designer. Designer is now a separate product. You can create forms in Acrobat as an AcroForm or using Forms Central (an online forms program). You can print the form to a new PDF and then recreate the fields in Acrobat using the recognize form fields. You will likely have to fix the form fields, but that would be the process. Generally, once a form is taken to Designer, you can't bring it back without such steps.
Designer is available with AA8 - AAX, but since is a separate product as I indicated.

  • LiveCycle Designer 7 and Rights-Enabled PDFs

I'm trying to find out more about how to create and save a fillable PDF with the rights-enabled so the user can save and send the PDF instead of senting the ugly data file.
I'm confused because the info I find says to be able to do this you need LiveCycle, and I have Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7, so what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    You need Acrobat 8 Professional.
