About language setting in owb 11gr2

I have a problem in the owb language setting, that all the message of error codes can not be correctly displayed.
It reads like this:
XOQ-01400: ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
Maybe that's because my OS is in Chinese version, so Oracle or owb chooses by default to output the message in Chinese, which could not be correctly displayed.
Is there anyway I can change the output error message language to English? Is this an issue with Oracle language setting or owb language setting or both? Thanks very much for your kind help.

Hi Carsten,
Thanks for your help. I tried your approach, but it does not apply to my case. I guess it's because the messages were not encoded in English when they were generated from the server side, so merely changing the client side ide setting is not enough.
I wonder if there is a way to change the language setting on the server side, but I don't want to reinstall Oracle or OWB, which is an onerous task and causes loss of data.

    I've just migrated from owb 10.2 to 11.2. In windows, OWB 11.2 design center is configured in Spanish by default. How could I set it up for English?

  • Getting NullPointerException while executing OMBIMPORT in OWB 11gR2

    Hi,
    When running BSC Expert in OWB 11gR2 along with 11.2 Database, getting the following error:
    "PUB03302: Failed to connect to user null in source database null:null:null:java.lang.NullPointerException"
    while executing the statement
    OMBIMPORT FROM METADATA_LOCATION FOR IMPORT_ACTION_PLAN 'BSC_C_$G_OBJECTIVE' .
    Since I am totally new to OMB+, I have no idea about why this is happening.
    Could anyone please give some pointers/solutions for this problem. Because of this issue we are not able to proceed with our certification.
    Thanks,
    Karthik.

    Looking at the exception, looks like the metadata location for module is not set.
    Did you set the metadata location for the module? metadata location is different from data location. metadata location is used for reverse engineer. Please open the module editor, switch to metadata location panel, check if the metedata location is set.

    Hi there.
    I had install Oracle Warehouse Builder g11 R2 32 Bit version on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit version.

    Hi Deb
    With the code that's out today I don't think the compatibility mode works, from what I can read from users' experencies on LinkedIn discussions.
    Customers have used Windows XP mode for Windows 7 (for example), this installs a Windows XP virtual machine in which you can install and run OWB 11gR2 on your Windows 7 (64-bit) workstation. Windows XP mode can be downloaded from:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
    You should also increase your XP mode virtual machine memory (RAM) allocation to at least 1GB for it to perform at an acceptable level. This will get you going until there is a better option.
    Cheers

  • [BUG] Editing contacts with italian language set

    This behaviors happens only when WebOS is set to Italian language:
    1) when editing an existing contact, it shows up as a blank one, as if I was creating a new contact from scratch. Actually, the contact data is there, but somehow hidden! When changing it (so, actually, writing back from scratch), it does change, but can't see the original contents.
    2) When creating a new contact, I can't add a phone number, while I can add other items (email, address, URL, etc). Saving it and then editing it, goes back to point 1. Thus, the only way to save a phone number is dialing it, then saving it from the Phone app.
    I have an European GSM Pre, WebOS 1.4.1

    First, when you do create a new contact (in Italian), what happens when you try to type in the Phone Number field? Does the cursor appear, or is the field grayed out? Does nothing happen when you tap on the "+ New Phone Number ..." field?
    As long as I tap it, the field become dark grey, as it was somehow activated, but when I release my finger it comes back to normal and I can't type in it (no cursor).
    Besides that, I can add a new contact. Other fields are working fine, but in the Email address and IM address field, the cursor doesn't appear on the very left (beginning) of the field. It stays almost in the middle, as it's keeping room for a button, and actually if I click on the left, it pops up something like an empty list or menu. Besides this glitch, I can edit those fields.
    By the way, the phone number field is the only one that is 2 lines long (in italian). I don't know if this means something, but maybe this screws the interface up.....
    Second, what happens if you change your language selection from Italian to English, then try to edit an existing contact? Are you able to see existing text then?
    Yes; it works perfectly.
    Also, try creating a new contact with your language selection set to English. Are you able to enter a phone number at that point? How about editing a contact created with language set to English while still set to English. Can you see existing data within the contact editing screen?
    Yes, everything works fine, as long as english (US) language is set.
    Next, switch back to Italian and view the contact created under English. Can you edit existing information without it blanking out?
    I can't see the existing information; I can't edit any phone number obviously, because the field can't be activated. If I try to overwrite data by writing on those field that I know they contain data, it doesn't work: name of the contact doesn't change, and editing the email address (ie. writing it back from scratch) adds another address.
    Hope this helps,
    Stefano

  • Process Flow Restart Logic OWB 11gr2

    Hi,
    I know OWB 11gr2 doesn't provide PF restart logic and one has to come up with his/er PFRL deisgn and implementation logic. Just wondering if any one has done it sucessfully and can refer me to a proper documentation or design.
    Thanks

    Read about error handling in Oracle Workflow:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/workflow.102/b15853/T361836T362426.htm
    You can use ideas of Workflow default error processing for designing custom system for notifcation administrator about fails in OWB processflow and to provide tools to restart failed activities (it is impossible dirrectly use default Workflow features becuase - restart is possible at whole process where error occured and OWB mapping errors is not produce error events in Workflow).
    I guess you need design (I am not a big Workflow expert so maybe better to follow Workflow develoepr guide or ask question at {forum:id=72} forum):
    1) procedure for generating "OWB mapping error" event (this procedure should be run periodically, say every 10 minutes)
    2) Workflow processflow (and maybe addirional procedures) for processing "OWB mapping error" event
    3) suscribe designed processflow to "OWB mapping error" event
    Regards,
    Oleg

  • Foreign language setting??

    It seems crazy, but I can't figure out how to put pages into a setting so that I can write in Spanish without red underlining every word...there MUST be a way...right?
    If you have any idea how to change the language setting, PLEASE let me know! It would be much appreciated :):)
    Also -- does anyone know anything about getting a word count?
    Thanks!
    Julie

    "Same problem, but where is "inspector > text > more > language" ?"
    Short form of:
    Click the Inspector button to open the Inspector window.
    Click the Text button (T) in the Inspector window to open the Text Inspector.
    Click the More button to expand the Text Inspector.
    Choose the desired language using the popup menu in the Language section of the expanded Text Inspector.

  • Language setting of browser and Application Primary Language

    Hi,
    my browser is currently set to German, that's why the APEX builder is also displayed in German. Brrr, I like development environments when they are not displayed in English - sometimes you don't understand this translations :-)
    But my problem now is that I have created an application and set the Application Primary Language to English (en).
    I would now assume that all the text APEX is creating during wizard actions will be created in the Application Primary Language and not in the language the browser is currently set to. But all the text is created in the browser language!!!
    I think that's not a good behavior, because if you have a multi user/multi country development, the developers have to change there browser settings so that we get a consistent application. But to archive that I have set the primary language for the application.
    Patrick
    Check out my APEX-blog: http://inside-apex.blogspot.com

    Patrick,
    The resulting "defaults" strings which are displayed/used in the wizards should be Estonian, because that's my primary language of the application. Does it really make sense to show them in English/German, ...? Because the result language of the application should be Estonian.A) And how exactly will the Builder obtain the Estonian translation of these strings or of the translation of these strings into any of the hundreds of other languages we know nothing about?
    I think the answer is that the Builder should maintain an awareness of the language setting of the application being developed. During the generation of possibly translatable text, the wizards should use a translated message for that text/language if: a) the language is one of the ten languages in which we make the Builder application available, and b) the developer has installed that "language version" of the Builder application (even if they are running a different language version at the time of text generation). If either condition does not hold, then the text should be generated in the Builder's primary language (en-us).
    The builder is no genius (or not yet ;-) ), so that's up to the developers when they are changing the primary language during development.B) I don't understand your point (what is up to the developers?). The point I was trying to make was that even if we concede that generated text from the Builder should ideally be in the language that is the current primary language setting of the application being developed, the Builder would not be able to make that accommodation during the execution of the portion of the Create Application wizard that creates pages (with generated text in some language) because this occurs beore the language selection is made. Of course, the answer is that the Create Application wizard should be changed to allow the language to be selected before any text can be generated. Wizards would then be able to generate text in the appropriate language according to the rules proposed in (A).
    Why does the builder/wizard not use substitution strings (eg. #APPLY_CHANGES#, #NO_DATA_FOUND#) for this type of default text instead?This would result in "code" in areas of the metadata from which translation strings would be extracted into the XLIFF file. Translators would ignore this code so the ultimate translated application (and the primary) would need a repository in which to hold the desired text for each language to be supported and a method with which to dynamically lookup the translated text at runtime. I don't believe the current architecture supports this (apart from the fact that we don't currently do it this way) and I think the performance implications could be significant, but I could be mistaken on both points.
    Wouldn't it help to translate the application too?I don't understand this suggestion.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Nokia 5300 chinese language setting missing

    My phone is Nokia 5300 Express Music. The first time i'm using Nokia PC Suite, going to update some software. The software is firewall update. After updated, i realized my phone language setting is changed. Chinese and Malay language is gone and others language like romana, deutsch and something else was appear. I think maybe is the software updated so the language setting also changed. So i might need help to change the language setting back to chinese cause i need chinese language to use for my phone book in chinese words.
    Anyone is know about any software to help me fix my problem???
    Hope to hear some good advice and help from nokia supporter.
    Thanks & Regard!

    Your phone was intended for sale in a part of the world other than where you are. The importer/retailer installed the appropriate language packs for you but didn't tell you that this was the case. If you have a gripe against anyone, it's against the importer/retailer.
    We can't direct you to the Nokia care points for your country because we don't know what your country is. What you can do is go to http://www.nokia.com and follow directions to support for your country from there.

  • OWB 11gR2 in ORACLE DB 11gR1

    Hi,
    I have a 11gR1 DB in a server. I want to work with cliente OWB 11gR2 so I have installed it in my PC. I have prepared the DB executing several scripts from my local installation (like clean_owbsys.sql, cat_owb.sql, reset_owbcc_home.sql and unlock the OWBSYS and OWBSYS_AUDIT accounts). When I try to create a new propietary of repository, OWB send me a message that say that I have to install 11gR2 in server. My problem is that I don't have access to de DB server. It is really necesary to install OWB 11gR2 in DB server?.
    Thanks.

    Go to the location for the schema and make sure it has the correct version (10.2). By default 11g will set this to 11.1, and than you get the version check mismatch.
    We check this because we generate different code between versions. So for example in 10.1 we did not support DML Error logging, but in 10.2 we do. So that is why we check.

    Hi David,
    Is there any patch for it ? I checked on metalink but did not found anything related to bug.
    We have one more issue with importing objects in MYSQL. Most of the tables have primary constraints with name PRIMARY in MYSQL.
    When we select multiple tables for import, only the first table gets imported succesfully and on the other tables the constrainsts section blow up with error -
    creation failed (name already exists)
    On pressing ok, OWB throws an error - API2216: Cannot drop database link. Please contact oracle support with the stack trace and the details on how to reproduce it.
    This is corrupting the flatform. We get this error everytime we import an object. But the object gets imported.
    On the table which gets imported successfully , when i look at keys (constraints) there i dont see any columns under the constraint PRIMARY.
    Error Details -
    API2216: Cannot drop database link. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and the details on how to reproduce it.

  • How to migrate 10gR1 repository to OWB 11gR2?

    We are trying to migrate OWB 10gR1 repository to OWB 11gR2?
    But are being faced with version compatibility issues.
    Is there any work-around for the same?

    This is a bit before my time, so I'm not very familiar with how the repository worked in 10gR1, but you might have a look at this... assuming you at least have the database credentials for the repository owner, it looks like you can perform user management tasks through this helper package that might get you an OWB user that can access everything, and let you move your design into 10.2 (from which you can migrate on to 11.2).

    Maintaining Repository Users
    Multiple identifiable Warehouse Builder users can access the same central repository schema when they are registered by the repository owner.
    Warehouse Builder includes utility procedures for the following maintenance tasks:
    * Update the role protecting password
    Although the repository owner does not explicitly use the protecting password for the role, it is recommended that the repository owner change the password often.
    The repository owner must connect to the repository schema using SQL Plus and issue the following statement:
    Call WBSecurityHelper.updateRolePwd('newpwd');
    where'newpwd' is the new password used to protect the role chosen by repository owner. The changed password encryption appears in the table called OWB_ROLE_INFO table.
    * Register repository users
    Warehouse Builder users must be database users located in the same database instance as the repository. The database user's default role should not be ALL. Use 'After user xxx DEFAULT Role x' to set the default role property.
    To register a repository user, execute the following statement in SQL Plus:
    call WBSecurityHelper.registerOWBUser ('username')
    * Unregister repository users
    To unregister a user from a repository, execute the following statement in SQL Plus:
    Call WBSecurityHelper.unregisterOWBUser('username');
    * List all repository users
    The repository owner must connect to the database containing the repository and issue the following statement:
    Set serveroutput on;
    Call WBSecurityHelper.listOWBUser( );
    Set serveroutput on is required since listOWBUser() uses the DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line for the output to dump the data to the user interface. Otherwise, DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line only dumps the output into an intermediate data structure.
    The preceding user maintenance tasks should be performed in the repository by the repository owner.
