About PDF Portfolio layouts in Acrobat X

I would like to know if Adobe would release layout that is less cost CPU?
I found myself that the latest PDF portfolio is TOO sophisticated for my computer + I need / use more simple PDF Portfolio layout which release in version 8 & 9, especially "• List with File Preview: Adds quick previews to List View "
OR
could someone tell me how could I install the layouts of ver. 9 into ver. X?
Thanks

At this time I can't say if there'll be "in-product" additional layouts, but we gained some extras for Acrobat 9 in the mid-cycle patch and there's no reason why the same thing can't happen again.
AcrobatUsers.com is also hosting a Portfolio Exchange where users can contribute their own templates, layouts and themes. Right now the content is for Acrobat 9 only (as the Acrobat X SDK has only been out for a couple of weeks, developers haven't had the time to get to grips with it yet) - however in the months to come you can expect a lot of Acrobat X content to be added, some of which will come from the programmers at Adobe.
As to the speed of display updates in edit mode - I agree it's more CPU-intensive than it was in Acrobat 9, and that's an unfortunate consequence of the complexity of the new navigators. As you've already seen it only affects the edit stage, as once the portfolio is saved, displaying and reading it is much faster in Acrobat X and Reader X.

  • Trouble adding a custom PDF Portfolio layout to Acrobat 9

I asked this question over in the Acrobat Windows and Mac forums, but no luck. I think I was in the wrong place...anyways...apologies for cross-posting, but I'm stuck and up against a deadline!
I've developed a custom navigator for an Acrobat 9 Pro PDF Portfolio. However, I’m having trouble getting it to show up as a layout option when I open Acrobat to create a PDF portfolio. The basic layouts are there, but I can't find my layout or the "other layouts" category.
I've tried this in both Windows and Mac environments on two different computers. In Windows, I tried installing the .nav file in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat9\Navigators directory; on Mac, I tried both /Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0_x86/Navigators/ and Applications/Acrobat 9 Pro/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Navigators/ directories. I've shut down Acrobat and reopened the application, as well as restarted my computer. I still can't get the new navigator to show up.
Is there perhaps a plug-in or something from the SDK that I need to install into Acrobat first in order for my custom .nav to show up? I'm sure it's something simple and obvious that I'm overlooking - but I haven't been able to figure out what. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I thought so. I followed the instructions in a tutorial I saw on Acrobatusers.com. I updated the config.xml, navigator.xml, and the assets (arrows, background), then used WinZip to open an existing .nav file as an archive and swap out the files I changed. Maybe the mimetype file is getting compressed when I close WinZip? Is there another/better way to create the .nav file?

  • Viewing PDF Portfolio using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro in Sharepoint Foundation 2013

When opening a PDF Portfolio, created using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, in Sharepoint Foundation 2013 the pages are blank in the default Layout view but you can see the contents in File view. How do we correct that so the files appear in both views? Local IT stated it is an ADOBE problem.

  • PDF Portfolio Layouts - How?

I have Acrobat 9.0.0 and I'm trying to create a PDF Portfolio, but I am unable to change the layout. Every internet search I have found, shows the Layout toolbar automatically appearing, but I don't have that toolbar. I don't if my version doesn't allow it or I just don't know how to find the toolbar.
    Please help!

So you don't see this menu in Acrobat Pro X or Acrobat Pro XI?

  • What is a PDF Portfolio? | Learn Acrobat X | Adobe TV

This video explains how to create a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro.
    http://adobe.ly/yLb9tW

This video has the title "What is a PDF portfolio?", but instead of starting with a brief explanation of what is a PDF portfolio, it goes right into describing actions which I assume go to making such a portfolio.
This problem of skipping initial basic explanations permeates the computer world.  People who makes these videos jump over the explanations that people who want to learn don't know.

  • How do I install the complimentary PDF Portfolio Templates for Acrobat XI

I download the complimentary PDF Portfolio Templates.  How do I install them to Acrobat XI?

It depends on the OS you are working. Navigator files (Portfolio templates) usually go in the following locations:
    Windows
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Navigators
    Mac
    /Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro/Contents/Resources/Navs/

  • Question for graphic artists about PDF Portfolios...

I'm finding it difficult to get a graphic portfolio PDF under the required 5mb without sacrifice a little too much in quality.
Could the graphic artists in the house with portfolio PDFs let us know what their Photoshop PDF export settings are? (more specifically, DPI and JPG settings)
Naturally, this is for screen. But the people opening these files who ask for portfolios in PDF format will likely have quality gear.
    Thanks!

  • Bring back PDF Portfolio option to Acrobat Standard!

We are refreshing some department computers with newer models through Dell.  These new computers come with Adobe Acrobat X Std on them.  This works fine for most people until today.  Our one department had their older XP computers replaced with new Win 7 machines and Adobe Acrobat X standard.  They were dependant on a feature to right click on a bunch of PDFs and combine them.  They need the portfolio option because a regular combine will overwrite values in forms because "they have the same name".  This worked fine on the OLD machines with Adobe 9.5 Standard.
So on the new computers with Acrobat X Standard, this portfolio option is gone!  This is needed for their job!
Now I am scrambling to deactivate and uninstall X standard from the new computers ,and deactivate and uninstall 9.5 from the old ones.  Using Belarc Advisor to obtain the product key, I can reinstall it on the new computers, along with running all the umpteen patches to get 9.0 back up to the latest version.  Not only that but the right click context menu is gone, so I had to research that and find the command to get it back -> regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu64.dll"
After doing some research it seems you have to spend extra money on a X or XI "professional" version, just to get a feature that was included in 9 STANDARD.  Shopping around the best price I could find was over at NewEgg for $120.  Multiple that by the people who need it, were looking at good amount of money to get back a single feature we had before!
So were going right back to Acrobat 9 standard because it does what we need it to do.  My plea to adobe is to bring back the portfolio feature!  Either that or don't screw up the contents of forms in a standard combine!
Is this the latest trend that new versions of software are designed to take away features or functionality that people depend on?  I mean even Windows 8 takes away the start menu (I know there's freeware to get it back).  Please don't stoop to Microsoft's level and remove thign's people depend on.

We are also going through some of the issues with Acrobat standard being gutted. In acrobat 9 standard we have some processes that used a function called "Export Multiple Files.." This allowed you function through a wizard to select as many files of many file types as you wanted and export them to a ton of file formats. I use this on a daily basis and now i am being told it is not available in the standard version. If i buy the PRO version it is available, but what will keep Adobe from from removing this from the Next version of PRO and call that PLATNUM or somthing. This not the way to treat long time customer who pay for and have developed many process using the tool. It is also sad to learn that Portfolio option is no longer available. We will have to go back to 9 until they figure this out. What a massive screw up.

  • PDF Portfolio Layout

In Pro 9, I have lost the Layout button and function in the Portfolio. Does anyone know how to restore?

I thought so. I followed the instructions in a tutorial I saw on Acrobatusers.com. • Why is my PDF Portfolio blank?

I just used Adobe Acrobat XI 11.0.10 on Mac OS X 10.10.2 to create a PDF Portfolio. Acrobat let me choose the click-through layout, select files from two folders, and then displayed the PDF Portfolio window.
I would expect the Portfolio window to have a row of thumbnails along the bottom, and a big preview at the top.
What I saw instead is that the Portfolio window is blank.  I don't see any of my files there.
Clicking the Layout and Files tabs have no effect, the portfolio is blank either way.
When I try to re-add the files to the portfolio, I get an alert saying that 'the portfolio already contains a file with the name "myfile.pdf". Would you like to replace the file "myfile.pdf"?' So it seems that at some level the files are in the portfolio, but they aren't visible.
The portfolio size is 8MB, which is consistent with the size of the files I have included in there.
I don't see any troubleshooting tips about Portfolio blankness. The forum didn't suggest any relevant topics for me to read first.
Where is Acrobat going wrong?  How can I make it handle this portfolio properly?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Jim,
You need to have full Flash Player on your system to view content in PDF Portfolios when using Acrobat/Reader 10.x or 11.x.
    Please refer https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/flash-player-needed-acrobat-reader.html

  • Create Folder with DDX in PDF Portfolio or add files to Folder

can I create folders in a PDF file same as we do with the Adobe Acrobat Portfolio using only DDX? I tried using PackageFiles, but had no results.

The Assembler service in LiveCycle ES (8.2) does not provide a way to specify folders within a PDF portfolio.
For more information about PDF portfolio capabilities in LiveCycle 8.2, see Using Assembler to Create PDF Portfolios.

  • Does Office Web Apps 2013 supports PDF Portfolio Documents

    Hi Team,
Could you please let me know whether office web apps supports Adobe Acrobat X PDF Portfolios (Preview PDF portfolio files through OWA 2013 in SharePoint 2013).

    Thanks! Palani K

    Hi Bharat,
Quote from the link you provided:
The original files retain their individual identities but are assembled into one PDF Portfolio file. You can open, read, edit, and format each component file independently of the other component files in the PDF Portfolio. Depending on the circumstances,
PDF Portfolios offer several advantages over merging multiple files into a single PDF.
Since the issue is related to third party product, I'd recommend you also contact their support engineer for more sufficient resource and assistance.

  • Downloaded free PDF Portfolio, no Create PDF Protfolio option from File Create

Downloaded free PDF Portfolio, instructions say to load via> File, Create, Create PDF Portfolio,  there is no option for Create PDF Portfolio in my Acrobat XI

(Actually, I think this question is about Adobe Acrobat, not CreatePDF.)
Do you have Acrobat Standard? If so, I think it is a mistake that you were offered this, as portfolios are a feature of Acrobat Pro. At least, that's what I remember.

  • PDF portfolio works in what versions?

How do I know what versions or Acrobat or Reader my PDF portfolio will work in?
    Will it work in reader?

PDF Portfolios will work in both Acrobat and Reader 9.
    In addition,
"By default, PDF Portfolios created in Acrobat 9 will open in earlier  versions of Acrobat and Reader and the PDF Portfolio will make the best  use of the features available to it. When opened in version 8, the PDF  Portfolio will act like a PDF Package and in version 7 and 6, the  contents will appear as attachments"
