About Query

What are the steps involved in creation of query using SQVI.
Whic option is to be selected  i.e Table or Table Join .
Also what is the significance of Basis mode and Layout Mode .
Also for already existed queries in system how to find which is the user who have created the query and whether queries are user specific. Means if i wanted to do some modifications in query whether it has to be done thru the same user who have created the query.
Please guide.

  • About query Operator in find page??

    hi all~
    I hava a trouble about query operator.
    for example:
    In find page , there are some attribute for query.
    attribute BRAND for query the vender's name,
    Assume database has the follow data:
      BRAND
    =================
    1.IBM
    2.RedIBM
    3.BLUEIBMCO
    Case 1:When i input IBM in BRAND attribute and press Find,the result is :IBM
    Case 2:When i input %IBM in BRAND attribute and press Find,the result is : RedIBM,BLUEIBMCO
    How could I get above two result just input IBM??
    I want to serch the value of BRAND that contain IBM whether it location at the frond or middle.

    Spray Lin,
    I'm afraid that this time I do not quite understand what you are after.
    When I understand you correctly, you are saying that the current behavior is not what I think it should be, for example IBM results in IBM and IBMblue. That is strange indeed.
    Furthermore is it that when you try to find on IBM it should find everything with IBM in it? Said in other words, entering IBM should have the same result as entering %IBM%?
    If that is the case, you can achieve that by adding an extra property to the find form bean: "wildcardUsage". Setting this to "surround" will result in a "%" being put in front and at the end of the value you enter.
    You can look this up in the JHeadstart Developers Guide in the section Model-Aware Form Beans.

  • About Query returns no results?????

    Has anyone had any luck getting an about(xxx) query to function as described in the documentation? I'm sure it works....but I can't seem to get anywhere.
    I created a table "TEST_HELP". Columns Help_id, Help_Text
    I put a handfull of records in the table, populating the column Help_Text with data such as
    1, This is a document about animals.
    2, This is all about the wonder world of dogs.
    3, This is why fish suck.
    4, Cats and why they think they rule the world.
    5, Creature of the deep.
    ok, next I created a small thesaurus with terms defined as:
    animal
    syn creature
    nt dog
    nt cat
    nt fish
    I load the thesaurus.
    I create a CONTEXT index on TEST_HELP, utilizing LEXER preferences:
    INDEX_TEXT= YES
    INDEX_THEMES= YES
    I can issue a contains query using the thesaurus operators SYN, NT and get the results I expect. However if I issue an about(animal) query I would expect to get all 5 records. (Based on the expansion of all SYN and NT)
    So, can anyone tell me if my process is wrong? Are my expectations wrong? Does it even work?
    Working with Oracle 9.2 on a windows 2000 server platform.
    Thank you all for you time.

    Alright, I recreated the table, thesaurus and index (in that order)
    and the about query appears to be working.
    When I recreated the table I added more robust data to the help_text column.
    (Don't know if this had anything to do with it or not)
    Is there a specific order of creation that needs to be followed? table, thes, index

  • About query not using extended knowledge base

    Hello,
    I compiled a small thesaurus to the knowledge base:
    ctxkbtc -user dcenter/dcenter -name THES_PLACE
    It contains:
    GERMAN
    USE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY
    UF FRG
    BT EUROPE
    NT BAVARIAN
    I have 2 record, 1 containing GERMAN, 1 containing BAVARIAN.
    Field is indexed with a context index, and the index is synchronized.
    I'm using 8.1.7.2 english.
    Using an ABOUT operator, I always get 1 hit.
    SQL> select count(*) from file_info where contains (places, 'about(BAVARIAN)') > 0;
    The (9i) doc says:
    When you augment the existing knowledge base with your new thesaurus, you query with the ABOUT operator which implicitly expands to synonyms and narrower terms.
    How can I get the ABOUT query to expand to the narrower term in 8.1.7.2? Is this a bug, do I have to upgrade, or am I missing something?
    Thanks

    Hello.
    Did you load the supplied english thesaurus as your DEFAULT thesaurus using the command line utility ctxload (or some other method)?
    I had the same experience until I loaded the sample thesaurus in $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/sample/thes/. Now my ABOUT and SYN queries work as expected though I still have a concern about the incomplete nature of the sample thesauri (I'll open a new thread on that topic).
    Hope this helps.

  • About query generator.

  • Problems about  query filter (BEx).

    Hello there,
    I have some problems about  query filter (BEx).
    I have master data and I want to use attribute in this master data to dynamic filter in query(BEx).
    But this attribute is key figure. I can't done it now. TT
    Is this possible? If yes, could anyone advise how this is to be done?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    In BEx there is option as 'Exceptions' & 'Conditions'. If you go in condition, you can specify range for key figure output. This is either predefined or by user selection. You create the condition as per your requirement & it will show you filtered data.
    How to create conditions you will find easily on this site.
    You can create as many conditions as no of filters you want. You can create these at query level also at report output level.

  • About Query Data Source Columns property

    Hello everyone,
    I'm new to Oracle Forms version 10.1.0.2.
    When I create a data block based on a table using Data Block Wizard, the block's Query Data Source Columns property is automatically populated with column definition entries corresponding to the columns of the base table.
    I tried making changes to these entries, for example by changing the data types to wrong data types or even deleting them, and I found that those changes had no effect on the block at all. The form was still working as I wanted.
    Please explain what is exactly the role of the block's Query Data Source Columns property.
    Thank you very much.
    p.s: The F1 key help says "The Query Data Source Columns property is valid only when the Query Data Source Type property is set to Table, Sub-query, or Procedure". So, please explain in each context of Query Data Source Type.

    p.s: The F1 key help says "The Query Data Source Columns property is valid only when the Query Data Source Type property is set to Table, Sub-query, or Procedure". So, please explain in each context of Query Data Source Type.
    IMHO those properties are very self-explaining: It is the data source of the block, or in other terms: how it is populated.
    Table means the data block is based on a table and subsequently will be populated by
    select col1, col2, col3 from your_table
    With sub-query the block will be populated with your subquery; forms will issue
    select col1, col2, col3 from (
      -- this is your subquery
      select col1, col2, col3 from tab1, tab2 where [....]
    With Procedure in short you'd have a stored procedure which returns a ref cursor and the block will be populated by the ref cursor.
    As for your question about the name: this actually should matter; the default is NULL which means that there needs to be a column which has the exact name as the item so in the above sample with table the item associated with your_table.col1 should be named col1. If it isn't the property should be named like the column. If this property also doesn't reflect the name this shouldn't work IMO.
    cheers

    Thans for the reply Urs,
    by changing that query as you suggested, i got different plan, although i can't fully understand if it means that it's better in the mean of faster execution time because i can't(yet) run those queries to see.

    what do they mean?
    I think that it would be good to make statistics on that table , do you guys agree ?
    Also shoud i consider parallel hint option for that query ?

  • Help about query performance -Thanks

    Hi
    I have a j2ee web application with oracle database.
    I finish the function implementation by put all caculaton inside oracle query ( funciton (todayData - avg(historical data )) / std(historical data) and using group by and sub query .but performance is very slow about 3 minute whick is far from client's 10 second requirement.
    My question is if I take raw data from database and do the caculation part in Java will it be faster. Is there some other way to speed up the process?(historical data is big)
    Thanks for your time and help

    create a function index. after creation, see your sql using the function index
    this will be faster

  • ABOUT query not affecting results or not using knowledge base

    Hello again,
    Another question here,
    I've searched through the forum and have found other
    posts on the same problem but no solutions, though
    the problem isn't always the primary topic of the
    forum. I've put this post up to hopefully put this
    to rest as I'm pretty sure this is just a
    configuration issue.
    I am using an ABOUT operator in a CONTAINS query and
    the query seems to return the same results as the
    same query without the about operator, eg:
    SELECT SCORE(0) AS scr,
    file_repository.file_id,
    file_repository.file_title
    FROM file_repository
    WHERE CONTAINS(index_url, 'ABOUT(australia)', 0) > 0
    versus
    SELECT SCORE(0) AS scr,
    file_repository.file_id,
    file_repository.file_title
    FROM file_repository
    WHERE CONTAINS(index_url, 'australia', 0) > 0
    I have included documents based on the default
    knowledge base should be found. For example I have
    three documents, one containing the term 'Tasmania'
    another containing 'Australia' and a third with
    'Pacific Area'. The first query above should return
    all three of these documents, but it only returns
    the one containing 'Australia'.
    I have used other examples from the default knowledge
    base and have had no success. I have not attempted to
    extend the knowledge base with a thesaurus as, from
    what I can tell, I shouldn't need to do this for it
    to work.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Basic question about querying georaster tables

    hello all
    i have a table with georaster column containing georeferenced images covering large area. can i query the table to get an image covering any user given cooordinates . the user given coordinates can span more than one image in the table. is this possible
    thanks

    Hi,
    Yes this is possible to operate with several GeoRaster images in one or several tables. But before this you should create specific GeoRaster metadata structure to join those separate images. You can find information about this procedure in GeoRaster documentation.

  • Meta Data About Query

    Hi Friends,
    If we create a query , where meta data about this query will be  stored ?
    was it stored in bi server ,if it stored how can we find?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramnaresh.P.

    Hi,
    Meta data means data about data
    it will show the technical information,description and graphical view of any object which is a part of Business content or activated objects in BW.
    The meta data will be stored in the meta data repository,
    To see the meta data > go to RSA1 > Meta data repository > you can see the Business content objects and activated objects.
    if you have a technical name for the query , you can find out and double click on the description of the query, for which you want to see the meta data and you can anlalyse here.
    you can also use RSRT t.code to see the information for the query.
    i hope it will be helpful for you
    Thanks and regards.

  • Clues about query's - Search for date type at INBOX

    Hello Everyone,
    At IC Webclient, does anyone experiment to add a new search date type at INBOX, at "search for date" search parameter?
    I added a new date type at Date Management, ZDATA_PR.
    When I try to assemble the query parts, I use something like this:
    CL CL_CRM_QUERYAUI_RUN_BTIL
    METH READ_BUSINESS_TRANSACTIONS
    CALL METHOD cl_crm_report_qupart=>get_qupart_by_token
        EXPORTING

          iv_date_type = 'ZDATA_PAR'

          iv_to        = ls_query_aui-to

          ev_qupart    = ls_qupart_range-querypart.
      APPEND ls_qupart_and   TO lt_query.
      APPEND ls_qupart_range TO lt_query.
    However, I'm rewarded with an error message telling me that I have problems with the query.
    Does anyone can give me clues how to perform this action? I'm clueless and there's not almost no information about this...
    Thanks and Kind Regards
    Bruno Garcia

    Just to solve a mistake at example code:
    CALL METHOD cl_crm_report_qupart=>get_qupart_by_token
    EXPORTING
    iv_token = 'DAT'
    iv_date_type = 'ZDATA_PR'
    iv_from = ls_query_aui-from
    iv_to = ls_query_aui-to
    IMPORTING
    ev_qupart = ls_qupart_range-querypart.
    APPEND ls_qupart_and TO lt_query.
    APPEND ls_qupart_range TO lt_query.
    does anyone has a suggestion or a clue to give?
