About ready to scream! 2nd Nano in ONE DAY!!!!

Okay, I've downloaded the CD to my PC (by the way, I have a mini, that I've had for over a year and it is just fine except a crappy battery..so I know its not my PC). and it asks me to restart.. then I hook up my nano after the restart..and it seems to be all happy w/ the update.. and then the installer for "Ipod Updater" just sits on "initializing" and my ipod sits on "do not disconnect". IT is fully charged.. and now, when I go to my computer to "eject it", it says "removeable disk". I've read some posts..people say put it in "disk mode" *** is that? I'm so mad..I'm ready to take my ipod back and get a flippin samsung or other MP3 player!!! What is w/ this??

Connecting 2nd nano to one pc (2 user accounts)

My girfriends nano was set up (and works) several months ago. I have set up a new user account on the PC for me for my nano. Have tried to run the set up cd (under my account), but was asked if I wanted ro delete the exisitng I-tunes? Didn't want to do this as might delete girlfriends copy? Have saved some songs from CD's onto I-tunes (under my account), but dont I have to register my seriel number? Do I have to set up anything under my user account?
Have read the "how to use multiple Ipods with one Computer" factsheet, but this doesn't really help me.
Any suggestions......?

You only need one instance of iTunes on your computer. The program resides in C:/Program Files but each user account will have an iTunes Folder in My Documents/My Music. If you have imported CDs into iTunes you should only need to connect the iPod and it will walk you through the insatllation and update automatically from your individual library.

About had it with this nano ipod

Some months ago, I bought two ipod nanos for myself and my wife. Some time after, my wife's started to skip songs that I'd downloaded from iTunes while playing songs I'd imported from disks. I reset it, I reloaded software, I reloaded songs, I created a separate library for my wife, etc. After each "fix", it works for awhile and then starts doing the same thing all over again. I'm about ready to invoke the "lemon law" on this thing. My ipod does not have this problem. I've read some of the email threads that espouse solutions such as those above, but nothing seems to work for any length of time.

Did you Restore it in iTunes?
Also, try this: in iTunes go to the Store Menu and Deauthorize the computer. Now play one of the songs (in iTunes) that is skipping on her Nano and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password, then Resync her Nano.
If this doesn't work hers may have a hardware problem, it happens. If it is under warranty have it serviced.

New PC, 2 iPhones, 2 iPod nano's (one first generation) same account

I have a new PC with windows 7, my old PC had XP home both with 10.4.1. I have two iPhone 4's (mine and my wifes), I have two iPod nano's (one is a first generation). I have always used them with the same iTunes account I have never even had more than one account.
With that being said my problem is this: I installed iTunes on my new PC and tried to sync my iphone to it. It prompted me to back up my library and I did. Asked to authorize this computer and I said yes, it then proceeded to load my songs. After it was done which took for ever it promted me to erase and sync so I did. I did the same to my wifes iphone and the second generation iPod. That is when I notice it didn't copy all of the library, still short about 100 songs. These are songs purchased from iTunes not ripped from cd's.
When I plugged in my first generation iPod nano, I tried to upload the library from it to my iTunes on my new windows 7 PC. It prompted me to autorize this computer for this account. When I tried to authorize it a window said that 5 computers were already authorized for this account and I would have to deauthorize one. In iTunes I proceeded to check my account under the store tab. It said I had only 3 computers authorized of the posible 5. I tried this multiple times shut down and restarted my computer, still the same information, nothing.
I found a couple of items on this site that said I could "deauthorize all computers" from this account, but to becarefull you can only do this once a year. I tried that and went back authorized my new PC again, plugged in my ipod nano still prompted the same that 5 computers were already authorized but when I went to the store tab it said only 1 was authorized.
I then took the nano first gen and went back to my old PC with xp home. I had already removed iTunes from it, but pluged in my nano. It loaded right on it and installed all my music. I took my other nano plugged it in and it asked if I wanted to authorize this computer I ck'ed yes and then prompted to load purchased items ck'ed yes and it loaded right up. ITunes then wanted to erase and sync so I did that. After that was complete I took my first gen nano to the PC with windows 7. plugged it in and the window prompted to load or erase and sync. I ck'ed load purchased music. Window popped up with the authorizing this computer again. I ck'ed yes to Authorize it. Again stated "5 computers already authorized"
Again I went to the store tab and checked there. there are only 2 computers authorized.
What is up? Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure of the exact steps, it's been a little while since I've worked in that part of windows 2000, but here goes.
1. Go into the control panel from the start menu or My Computer
2. In the control panel there should be an option for computer management. Open that up and you should see a tree of options on the left side.
3. Right click on Users (or something like that) and then select add user. Then you assign the user name and password (blank is allowed under the defaults)
4. Once the account is set up you want to be sure that it is part of the Administrators group so that he'll still be able to install programs and such. If you highlight Groups you should be able to right click on Administrators and add the new account. You can also do this from the account setup screen as well, but I don't remember the specifics.
Like I said, that may not be exact since it's been a while, but that should at the very least get you in the ballpark.

No. Since Apple power converter work from 110 to 240 volts, no power converter is reguired.
You will need a pin adaprt. I have found my local Ace hardware store to have the best deal on them.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select
File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

While I can see computer #1 listed under 'shared,' when I click on it the only songs I can see are those that I already have on the 2nd computer. Hopefully that makes sense. Basically, the library from computer #1 isn't loading up.

Also I have tried authorizing my computer to play the songs I purchased off of iTunes when I had an iPhone 4 and it will not allow me to play them whatsoever. I now have an iPhone 5 and wish to load these past song purchases onto my new phone. How do I solve this issue?

what you're missing to export multiple files is the batch export command available in the file menu or by control clicking on the items in the browser. You can export multiple sequences/clips at full resolution with this.

Correct. That box is typically checked by default. There are other default settings you could change that would not result in a full-quality version, but what I meant was hitting that option from the pull-down menu, then changing nothing and hitting ok.

About ready to chuck this pancake across the room!

My powerbook locked up one day so I had to hard re-boot it. Since then, the colors on the display are really off. In all applications, everything is darker. For example, in iPhoto, the pictures look like the brightness has been turned to very dark. The same is true in iMovieHD...video that was once crisp, clear and sharp is now dark and dingy. I've tried just about everything. Has anyone had this problem before and know how to fix?

You can adjust the contrast some with Apple Option Control + , and .
Also check your brightness and your colorsync profile and recalibarate if necessary. System Prefs > Display will do that for ya.

When you attempt to print the end result is extremely tiny print that has each letter spaced thre or four spaces apart. Darn near impossible to read ! I am about ready to cancel the beta !

My eyes mat be 72 years old but I'm not blind but I seem about ready to go that way. I don't know why Firefox 4 beta affects whatever I try to print but it sure does ! every letter is about four spaces from the next letter. You should try reading the mess. w h y d o e s i t d o t h i s ? Y o u s h o u l d t r y r e a d i n g a f u l l p a g e !

That weird spacing is caused by a Bug in 4.0b12. It was fixed for the 4.0RC version due out this week. As far as the size of the letters being printed, that can be changed in File > Page Setup - '''Scale''' = 100% or Shrink to Fit is normal, but it can be made larger by going over 100% or using a '''Custom''' setting in Print Preview.

Roland UM-ONE CD-ROM does not mount on iMac OS 10.8.2 Roland driver for 10.8 installed as directed. No power ready light shows when connecting UM-ONE. System Profiler shows it, but not configured. Older UM-1X works fine. UM-ONE works on Dell Windows XP.

Got latest driver from RolandUS.com (um_1mx8d_v100), installed as directed.
No power ready light shows when connecting UM-ONE.
System Profile shows it there, but not configured.
With Audio MIDI Setup opened to MIDI Studio window, UM-ONE does not appear.
Tried many things without success. Tried swapping UM-1X (formerly on Dell laptop) with UM-ONE. UM-ONE installed and worked there without any issues. MIDI instrument communicates fine.
The UM-1X works without complaint and as expected when connected to any USB port on either the Dell or iMac, even a hub or keyboard port, just as it formerly had before changing operating systems, etc. It is old, but reliable.
Upshot is, for now, that UM-1X works with either the Dell or the iMac, but is currently attached to the iMac. UM-ONE (2011 model) only works with the Dell (Windows XP).

Somebody please give me a reason NOT to cut bait on iCloud.

iCloud Mail is down. Has been for a while. I would hope this will be resolved soon.
I agree with you. iCloud does not seem to have anywhere near a 99.9% uptime. :-)
