About Service for Objects in PO

Hi dear,
I know in Service for objects we can attach a document to Purchase Order,Production Order etc.
But this document can be deleted by any user.
Is it possible to set a condition (via SPRO or any functional module) so that attachment will be deleted only by that log on who had attached it to that Pur Ord or Prod Ord and not by any other logon.

Hello ,
Through ME22N attached documents .  The file is attached or not you will confirm through  table SRGBTBREL(Relationships in GOS Environment). In this  field INSTID_A   enter Purchase order number , you get the result PO has having the attachement or not.
or else you can use this function module  SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1  to get the result.

  • Difference in storage method for DMS and Services for Object

    Hi-
Our R/3 version is: 4.7 Enterprise.
In most (if not all) of the transactions users execute, there is a feature where they can attach a file using "Services for Object" from their PC to the associated record (i.e. material master, purchase orders, service notifications, etc.)
What I would like to know is where the document is stored.  From what I found on help.sap.com it says that it is a link from the user's PC.  But I would guess it is storing a copy of the file as a blob on the R/3 server somewhere.  Is this true?  Or is there a risk if the user's harddrive dies, that the file is no longer available for viewing?
I am trying to determine the difference between using the Services for Object feature vs. DMS and setting up an object link for the specific object type (i.e. material).
    Thanks!
    -Jenn

I found the following about Services for Objects:
    Business Workplace
The documents that were appended to an object using Create attachment and Create note are stored in the Business Workplace. There, for example, you can make settings for where the documents should be stored (R/3 System or Web Server) and which document classes may be loaded in the SAP System (for example DOC, but not EXE).
Sending is also carried out internally using the Business Workplace. Messages are created that contain a link to the object as an attachment. By double-clicking on the attachment, the users can call the default method of the object. This is normally the display method.

  • How to get "Services for Object".

    Hi,
We are on SAP R/3 4.6C with SAP GUI 6.40.
I don't know much about "Services for Object". In fact, I just noticed the feature.
Some of our user do not see the feature even though they are on SAP R/3 4.6C with SAP GUI 6.40. While others see the feature but not all the time (ex. see in VA22 but not in ME22N)
Is the "Services for Object" some thing individual need to set in the user profile? Or in the SAP GUI or durring SAP GUI installation or is at via roles.
    Thanks in advance.

You can do it yourself without basis help. Follow the following steps.
From the VA22 go to System -> User Profile -> Own Data
You will reach a new screen. Select the 3rd view "Parameters"
Add one more line with Parameter ID as SD_SWU_ACTIVE and parameter value as "X". Save
Now when you go to any document with VA22. Services for Objects will appear to the left of "CHANGE Quotation  xxxxx : OVERVIEW".

  • My workflow is not listed in the GOS (Services for object)

    Hello Experts,
I developed a workflow and linked the BO ZBUS2081. This is sub type of standard BO BUS2081. I am using the custom event INVOICEBLOCKED to trigger the workflow. The workflow is triggered propely when the invoce is created (with block) thru MIRO and I can see the workflow in SWEL or SWI6 or SWI14.
But, the workflow is not listed in the services for objects button of the invoice display using MIR4.
If I use the standard event 'BLOCKEDQUANT' as starting event, the workflow is triggered and I can view it in services for object.
In the table SWW_WI2OBJ has all entries about the workflow triggered using standard event or custom event.
How can I make the services for object in invoice list my workflow that was triggered using custom evet?
    Appreciate your help.

    Hello Fractel,
Are you get rid of this issue?
We have just implemented some of SAP packs/patches and few users face this issue.
When I tried the same, I did not face this issue.
    Please suggest.

  • Add attachment to services for object

    Hi All,
What is the meaning of Add Attachment to services for object, is it the only providing the services like
    Private note,
    send object with note,
    Display relation ship,
    work flow,
    My objects etc.
can any one suggest me on this.
    Thanks&regds,
    Srinivas.

    Hi Srinivas,
I have seen you asking a lot of questions all about the same scenario in my understanding. It seems you like to send a picture or an attachment from/to the mobile device, is this correct? I get this impression because your questions are mostly around the MAM30_080 syncbo.
Could you specify the exact problem you have a little more in detail?
Sending notes,..... either you enhance a SyncBO. This is not to difficult and you do not have to do the complete basic ABAP development for your own. You still have to do some coding on the R3 side, but the SBUILDER stuff in the middleware is not necessary.
On the other hand, you can easily develop your own SyncBO. This is perhaps the best solution in your case.
Relation ships in SyncBOs are done with the cascading. See in SBUILDER for MAM30_001 - it has a relationship to MAM30_010 fo example. This is a process you do at design time. Here the MDK helps with some instructions about it. If you have an oject with a short text, just fill in the short t.ext, the long text is a splittedt structure inside the BO. If you want to see that, it is really simple:
Create a notification on the device. Enter a long text with more then 500chars. Then save.
You need to check the data structure on the device then. When yu open MAM from the MI home screen, the URL usually ends with /start. Change this to /start,jsp - in MAM30 this name has changed to /start_.....jsp,have a look into the project, you will find it - and you select the syncBO MAM30_010 on thqt screen. Then you see the complete data structure on your device. Search for your new created entry. Then you see that the long text is saved as a child structure and it has an index so ther backend can put it back to one long text in the correct order.
The same way you have to go if you want to send some data that is longer then 250 Byte.
Hope this helps to switch on some lights.
    Regards,
    Oliver

  • GOS - Services for Object attachment icon

I may be posting this in the wrong forum, but my question is this.  Is the Services for Object button ICON supposed to change colors or something when there is an attachment?  How can you tell if there is an attachment for the object?

Thanks for the reply.  This is true, what you say.  But I was talking about the the Services for Object Icon.  I want to know if an attachment exists without having to click on on the button.  I would expect the button to change colors or something if there is an attachment.

  • Advantage of DMS over "Services for object" functionality

    Hi Experts,
I have got very basic doubt about advantages of DMS Over existing standard functionality of SAP.
We can attach documents or files to SAP Objects using "services for object" push button ( Next to title bar).
So please answer for my below queries
    1. What is the disadvantage of using Services for Object??
    2. If I use services for object, then file is stored in SAP Data base or in my local drive??
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kiran T

    Hello ,
    DMS Vs GOS
    DMS- Document Management System
The Document Management System (DMS) in SAP R/3 offers the following distinct advantages over the current procedures and systems.
u2022     It avoids data redundancy, maintains consistency of data and minimizes the workload involved in entering and updating data.
u2022     In order to use large databases to the full, it is required to exchange data quickly and securely.  Data can be accessed directly using electronic search tools, or find documents using known parameters.
u2022     Document distribution functionality  (SAP-Workflow functionality is required)
The SAP R/3 Document Management System meets all these demanding requirements.  In addition to managing documents, it also coordinates document processing.  It is possible to automate the entire life cycle of a document: from document creation to document storage, its access and its update.  Each document can be accessed immediately from any computer on the netwerk.
    GOS-
All these DMS advantages are not available with GOS.
The Detailed PPT of comparison is sent to your id.

  • SAP Document Attachment - Services for object

    Hello Guys,
Find the below attachment about a PPT on " services for object"
    <a href="http://verbellacmg.com/asug_2006_walls_404.ppt">Services for object icon - ppt</a>
    Would be highly usefull.

    Reward if its Usefull.

Hi, There is no standard report or transaction to get this other than looking at the object through the transaction that creates those attachments, also you can go through SAP OSS note 530792
Refer below link for creating a report for your requirement
    http://it.toolbox.com/wiki/index.php/GOS_Finding_Attachments_or_Links_to_an_Object_in_SAP/ABAP
For second requirement it can be handled by Authorization, discuss with your basis guys

  • Unhide "Services for object" tab (MM02, MIRO, ...)

    Hi, everybody!
I'm in trouble with "Services for object" tab. I need it in transactions: MM02 and MIRO, but it is hidden.
I'm not sure about it, but I guess this could be solved with the right authorization. Just don't know which one.
    Could anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I guess BADI GOS_SRV_SELECT could solve the problem. You may disable the change button and other functions (perhaps using authorizations as a trigger).
    *Structure IS_LPOR contains
*INSTID * Obkey := keyfields of Business Object
    *TYPEID * i.e. BOR TYPE 'ZDGF_DG'
*CATID * i.e. 'BO' for BOR
Be carefull - It is used for all kind of objects - so add CASES for combinatons of CATID/TYPID and call an own function/method for each.
    Kind regards,
    Holger

  • Services for object - authorization/customization

When you enter an employeenumber in eg. PA30, you get access to "Services for object" where you can add comments, files etc. to the employee object (PREL I guess).  The problem is that these services are not object to any kind of authorization control. So even if our users are limited both via P_ORGIN and structural authorizations, they can enter any employee number (if they know it) and read all information about the employee they don't have access to (and enter comments, attachments etc.)
We don't want this option to be open, so we removed authorizations.  But I have 2 questions:
    1. Is there a standard way to hide services for objects. Customers never like to have access to a feature and be stopped by authorization.
    2. Is there a way to ensure authorization so that if you do not have access to the employee-number, you cannot enter or read anything from services for object.

  • Service for Object - GOS

    Hello all,
My client is wanting to use Services for Objects (GOS) to store comments about documents, notifications, etc.  One disadvantage of GOS is there is no visible way to tell if an attachment has been made.  I have been told there was an enhancement to the GOS that if an attachment is made to the GOS, the Icon would change color (or something visible) to indicate there is an attachment.  Can anyone help me with this?  I have searched OSS Notes but no luck so far.
This site is running SAP version 710 Patch level 6.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I know this is an old post but for reference, this is what we currently do.
implement badi gos_srv_select, in method select_services
    (code snippet)
      zstat = cl_gos_attachment_query=>count_for_object( is_object = is_lpor
                                                         ip_url = ' '
                                                         ip_arl = 'X'
                                                         ip_private = ' ' ).
      describe table zstat lines znum.
      if znum > 0.
message s888(sabapdocu) with 'At least one note or attachment exists'.
      endif.
I'm sure there are many other ways, this works good enough for us.

  • How to upload mass text data (note) on Service for Object

There are 2 long text fields on this screen about equipment
is Description and Intern.note which I can import long text by using LSMW tools.
But I need more fields to upload 3 kinds of text (are long more than 500
character), so I decide to use note on Service for Object as the image
    show.
There are more than 5000 notes to upload into system , can you suggest or
teach me any way to do this task.
    Many thanks and regards,
More information: As I know, those text I want to import will store in table SOOD (SAPoffice: Object definition) and SRGBTBREL (Relationships in GOS Environment)

Please check this thread:Mass Upload Image to Equipment Master
Above speaks about uploading images but you will need to modify to upload text files, etc. Also, you need to be aware that if you use 'Service for Object', you are eating into the SAP Database space and is not a highly recommended approach.

I tried to login to other PC and it worked.
Just wondering what is missing on my computer.
    Your response will be helpful.

    Hey,
I have the exact same problem as you have described. I also used my ipod as a watch but starting from today, whenever I unlock it the screen turns white until a reset is done. Even a factory reset through itunes didn't fix it.
    Have you found any solution?
    Bah, this is annoying.

Please try the following step to figure out.
    1) VA03
    2) At header of report (on the left hand side of 'Display S/O SysB SDI xxxxxxxxx:Overview' ) has a button called 'Services for Object' (GOS)
