About the Sound Blaster Live!

Ok.... Can you not buy this card anymore? Cause every place i go to order they say the manufacturing is no longer supplying them or some crap. I ordered one and waited for almost 2 weeks finaly i e-mailed them and they were no longer available (from buy.com) and so other places they say it was in inventory so can you not buy the Sound Blaster Li've! 5. anymore? :'( cuz its the card i need =(

I've searched around for some options for you. Here is one that may do the trick, but it's not a simple PCI sound card. You may want to contact one of the sound card makers you are planning on purchasing from and ask them. You can contact Creative Labs from this page and they may be able to give you a better answer.

  • Linux and the Sound Blaster Live

Ive got my hands on a SB Li've 24bit external sound card and after some fiddling around I seem to only have standard stereo and no 5. Audio.
My question is has anyone got these things to output 5. on Linux yet.
I'm going to have to return it back to the distributor as I seem to be miss informed that it would work in Linux.
Im getting this feeling that most Creative stuff is not "Linux friendly" and may not recommend their wares in future,
Looks like its time to start a Linux Audio device company, 40 million users is a nice market.

    Hello,
Please bear with me as I'm a complete novice on this.....
    I have the laptop, and whist re-decorating the room, I have?run?6 cables (sub woofer to be at the?rear of the room) to a wall mounted connector plate. So I think I need the following;
. Software to convert the sound within my laptop to 5. format (if not already done) and to get it to a USB. Installed sound card should be capable of this.
    2. USB?cable from PC to ?The Sound Blaster? Li've!? 24-bit External?
    3. The Sound Blaster? Li've!? 24-bit External?
    4. Maybe someting else to amplify and distribute the audio
    5. 6 short leads to my wall mounted connector plate
    6. Speakers
Not sure if the aboe helps?and perhaps there's another way of doing it instead of using the?Sound Blaster? Li've!? 24-bit External?
    Many thanks

  • Question About the Sound Blaster Ca

I haven't yet read all the info on ever one of your cards, but was hoping one of you Creative Labs guys could answer my question for me. I looking for a card either now or maybe one you guys could think about to do more than one sound at a time. Meaning... Say I'm playing a PC game and have the game playing on my computer speakers.. or in my case. On my Home Stearo system. And I have a program, which in my case is Ventrilo. (Which is a Computer Specking program used to talk with other players online that are in our server) Now Looking for a card to play the game on the stearo speckers and the sound from vent (people talking) on my headphones. So You are hearing the game on the speckers in great 6.7 7., 5. sound.. and the talking is all coming though on the headphones.. so you can hear the people easyer when they are talking. Also making it more realistic. Sorry about my spelling also. Hopfully you guys will be able to see where I'm getting at. Maybe the card could do up to three different sounds on three different soucres. So is this card real? Something that could come out? Or just somehing that couldn't happen on a PC card. Thanks for reading.

If you can specify which soundcard the program uses when you talk to other people, I have a setup that might work for you. Instead of trying to combine all of that into the soundcard, use the soundcard just for the game. Then use a bluetooth headset and a bluetooth network adaptor for the voice chat. The bluetooth antenna I have shows up as a second soundcard called bluetooth audio. If you can't specify which soundcard the program uses though then this most likely won't work.

First off your operating system version is obsolete and not being updated for security issues from Apple.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
So at least you need to upgrade to 10.6.8, and that will make your machine secure again.
However if you decide to upgrade further to 10.7 or 10.8, be forewarned your PPC based software of old is not going to work any longer. and your machine may require more RAM.
Check here to see and download the free MacTracker to see your machines true RAM potential and specs. There are videos online at YouTube, it's really easy to install yourself.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
I checked out the z-5500, apprantly the optical out shouldn't be a problem, however the surround sound decoding is a problem as the Mac doesn't do it, just passes it through for decoding on a receiver via the optical out port if your Mac has one.
Use the free MacTracker to find out or when you upgrade OS X, there is a option in the System Preferences > Sound.
    https://logitech-en-ap.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9693/section/trouble shoot/crid/409/lt_product_id/224/tabs/1,3,2,4,5/cl/sg,en
The Sound Blaster Live 24 bit doesn't do Dolby 5.1 according to Wikipedia. More info on it is here.
    http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&prodID=10702&pr odName=Live!%2024-bit%20External&CatName=Sound+Blaster
If it's able to accept optical toslink cable from the Mac's toslink stereo mini port (if it has optical output) and then send that to the z-5500 via the analog speakers, then you should be fine.
I'm afraid you'll have to do some more digging to get it to work.
The only surround sound your going to get is by playing DVD movies that have it, then it can't have Dolby 5.1 as the Live 24 bit can't decode it.
So do your research on what surround sound formats the Live 24 can decode, then compare your DVD collection for those movies that have it, then get it all connected and enable it on the movie preferences at the menu.
    Good Luck

  • Start SOUND BLASTER LIVE recording from the command li

    Hi everybody!
I have a Sound Blaster Li've card and have installed Creative Wave Studio ver 4.06
I leave the computer turned on all night long. What I would like to do is find a way that
the Sound Blaster Li've card could start and a way to stop recording automatically at
a set time; for example start recording a radio show at 4am and stop recording at 5am.
( For now I am using Windows task scheduler to call up a program I wrote to begin
the recording by issuing keystroke: "control r" but I am having problems stopping it by
    issuing "control t")
Could someone tell me if there is a way through command line to start and stop?
Perhaps just writing a batch file?
    Thanks,
    Frank

Well, I found that one of the problems was the screen saver kicked in and would
keep certain software from getting its Windows Message through to the acti've
window. So now I am experimenting with no screen saver.

  • Sbl-soundfonts: soundfont midi lib for sound blaster live

Something I needed for midi tests of my sound blaster live card.
The first soundfont file was suggested as the best general soundfont library available for free (8MB). The second is from my sb live install cd (4MB). If you only want the first one remove second source file and second md5sum. You will need asfxload from awesfx package (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=77155) to load the library.

I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).

  • Tried to install Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 but won't wor

    Hi,
I tried to install a Li've! 5. card i recently bought, and the guy from the store told me i wouldn't need a CD-ROM because XP auto-installs it.
So i opened my pc, and plugged the sound blaster into a free motherboard slot.
When i try to startup, it just won't work, and when it does, XP simply says no sound card was found..
    What did i do wrong?
I know nothing at all about computers, so don't ask me any specs; i only know my computer runs on XP..
    Thanks for the help!!
    ps.
I only use a windows for flightsimming, and since i'm a member of a virtual airline, i have to do at least flight per month, or i lose my membership and my saved flight hours.. So i need a solution as fast as possible.. Thanks!

  • BA7500G + Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit + Windows 2k = no sound

Similar to the thread for Win XP, I have inherited a BA7500g speaker system, and purchased a new Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit card for my Win2k system. Cannot get the speakers to work, although the speaker test works from the BA control unit. Noticed the digital audio input cable is color coded, and I don't have the original card that matches this scheme. Could this be the problem?

I have installed a new (not used) Soundblaster Audigy SE and BA7500G speakers and I'm running XP Pro. I'm getting no sound even when I change to Digital Out only? Not sure what to do? Is this sound card not compatible with my speakers? Do I need to purchase the Digital I/O Module that Creative is currently not in stock? I can find the Digital I/O module on Ebay if need be but not sure that's the solution. Please help!
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Take a look at the following thread:http://forums.creative.com/creativel...message.id=994?That is the best you can get. Did you run WindowsUpdate to get the drivers installed? If you did, just change the speaker setup to?4 speakers, then check and uncheck the?Digital Output Only checkbox to get sound back.

  • Sound blaster live! 5.1 with a Audigy1 I/O Drive bay

OK, heres the deal. i've had my Audigy with I/O dri've bay for a while now and have been very happy with it, shunning on-board sound throughout numerous upgrades of my PC. the thing i love about it the most is the dri've bay because i used it to record samples and songs in general as well as hook up my decks and have my friends use it as an amp for his guitar when he comes around to jam with me. now heres the snag, over the last couple of months my computer has been shutting down as and when it pleases. When i consulted my computer expert friend he was convinced it was the sound card dying, I refused to accept it (obviously). But sure enough, 2 months down the line, its toast. Understandably im devastated and would have gone down to the shops to buy a new one if i was not a student and real short of the green stuff. I had an idea of a tempoary measure that would?keep me going until i have the cash. So I went through my huge box of obsolete computer boards and found a soundblaster Li've! 5. which i notice has the same AUD_EXT pins as the Audigy . Is it possible to?connect the SB li've 5. with the audigy dri've bay? and if so how can i do it'sAny help on this matter would be extremely appreciated. Thanks - disgruntled student DJ?PS The SB li've has the model no. ?SB000

job done! i spent all night looking through forums and doin homework on it to make sure, before i stuck it in and, knowing my luck blew up the entire PC lol.the SB Li've! 5. is the same as the platinum version of the same model?but without the 'Li've Dri've IR'. the main difference between the Audigy dri've and the li've dri've being the inclusion of a firewire port on the Audigy version. So i've lost a Firewire port? Not exactly,?i had a slot gathering dust on my motherboard which the cable slotted nicely into. Score!I went and got the Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Platinum drivers from the Creative website and installed them instead, which as far as i could see were probably the same as the non platinum version. they installed without a hitch. followed by playcenter, and the rest of the garbage i didnt bother with. except the remote center, because the remote is another useful tool. but?for some stupid reason, creative?felt it nessesary only to release an update for the remote center and not the full install. It would tell me that i needed a full version of remote center to continue. so another 2 hours of looking for the full copy of the remote center ensued. Eventually, i ?went to the one and only DriverGuide.com (which is a god send) and found version .40. This for some reason didnt want to complete installation and i had to shut it down via task manager. but enough of it had installed so i could install the Update and have a fully funtional, bodged up Audigy/SB Li've! with operational firewire and remote! im happy, but im goin bed lol.just thought id post, just in case anyone else happens to be in this crazy and unlikely situation.Happy student DJ!
