About to buy new 2013 iMac, can i use bootcamp?

I am about to buy a new iMac.
I need to know which version of windows is the most robust using Bootcamp. I am reading the forums and it seems people are having all sorts of issues.
1. I need native windows as I need to run 3D Studio Max and have access to the Windows version of Steam (Games frontend)
2. Looking at a 32Gb iMac with 3TB Fusion Drive and a 2TB Time Machine.
3. 1TB will be reserved for Windows.
I don't mind either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, whichever is the most realiable.
Is this possible and fully supported using OSx Mavericks?

Windows 8 is supported (64 bit) 8.1 is reported to work also.

The answer would be in your software license agreement for Aperture. However if you cannot locate it you can ask in the Aperture forum, the link for that is:

However I believe you can have Aperture installed on two machines however only one may be using it at a time.
On the new iMac launch the Mac App Store - Purchased - look for Aperture and download to your new machine.

Yes it will work. I've done it for a few users in my small office. As with anything, there are quirks that you may or may not experience. Most quirks are app-related, due to app developers hard-coding absolute paths into their apps for things like temp files (Photoshop). Strategies for resolving these sorts of quirks can be found via google. You would probably have seen these quirks already when using server-based home folders for your kids. If you haven't noticed them, then you're probably fine.
The tech note you cited should be fine. It doesn't explicitly say so, but you'll need to enable ssh on your server, at least temporarily, so you can upload your home folder to the server using scp, rsync, etc. Don't try to copy the files up to the server via Finder.
Once all your files are transferred to the server and in the right place, make sure to chown them on the server, so they are owned by the userID you created for yourself on the server.
As with anything this involved, make a good backup of your laptop first.
Note I have one user that isn't too happy with the responsiveness of the periodic mobile home syncing. She has about a decade of e-mail in her home folder, probably 50 to 100 emails per day, many with attachments. Mobile home syncing takes a long time to check and sync this huge tree of itty-bitty files, eevn with server-side file tracking turned on. The other users are happy.
The nice thing about mobile home syncing is that when a user "graduates" to an age where they've earned their own laptop, you can change them from a server home user to a mobile home user, with a minimum of fuss. Also, if you lose or break a laptop, you can add a new replacement laptop to your network, and pull-down a replica of the home folder from the server, with almost no downtime.

Do I need a new hard drive & can I use Leopard?

I have a PowerBook G4 17" 1.5Ghz with OS X 10.3.9 on the original 80GB hard drive, I've been getting a lot of problems with the computer acting very slowly and getting 'hung up' with the color wheel spinning endlessly, during which nothing responds, I can't force quit, the only thing I can do is force a shut by holding down the power key. Sometimes it takes a long time to start up. I've tried re-installing the OS but still the same problems. I ran the Apple Hardware Test which gave this error code "2STF/4/3:ATA-100 ata-6-MASTER".
Does this all mean that my hard drive is going down and I need a new one?
Can I use any size hard drive e.g. a 250GB one?
Also - If I put a new hard drive in can I then install Leopard?

That code means there are problems with your hard drive. If you look at Disk utility (on your hard disk in applications/utilities) you may see that the S.M.A.R.T. status shows a problem. Or if you have SMARTreporter installed, it may not be green.
You can certainly use up to a 160GB hard drive. There was a discussion recently suggesting a BIOS (basic input output services) limit to 160GB ... I don't know if that's real or not.
If you do replace your hard drive, you might consider the slight price premium for a 7200rpm drive. You'll appreciate the extra snapiness in response time. And yes, you can install Leopard on it. After installing the new hard drive, boot from the DVD drive and use disk utility to format the hard drive in mac os extended (journaled) format. Then you can install Leopard.

You need to put the Tiger Install Disc in the 2011 iMac, boot the 2011 uMac into Target mode...

Boot the G4 holding the Option or alt key, hopefully the Install Disc in the 2011 iMac will show as a boot choice.
We just want to use the 2011 iMac as a big expensive FW Optical drive, it cannot be installed osing the 2011 iMac itself.

I'm sorry, I should have said thru Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi. I want to use the mini as a base station and the iPad like a laptop that I can sync when I'm home and carry with me when I travel. Another thing to note is that if your cell plan/carrier supports it (it's free with Verizon Shared plans), you can also use your mobile phone as a mobile hotspot (Personal Hotspot on iOS devices) and use your phone's data to access the internet on the iPad. I purchased an iPad 3 with Verizon 3G/4G cellular built-in but have never activated it. I instead use Personal Hotspot with my Verizon Wireless cellular (phone) plan. If you go this route, you can save money over purchasing a Wi-Fi/Cellular iPad and just choose the Wi-Fi model. But also realize that if you choose to at some point to use the iPad when you're away from Wi-Fi, you won't have the built-in cellular capability that a Wi-Fi/Cellular iPad would have.

So it seems the issue is when iMovie is wanting to creat thumbnails, if I ask it to ignore then it's fine but if not it hangs up searching for the video file.

Read the system requirements for the programs you listed. Match them against the specifications of the machine you propose to buy. The more RAM the better, your hard drive size requirements and video card specicications may require the upgraded, not base, model or may eliminate the MBA as a platform.
