Access SQL-Server Data from Oracle 10gXE

Hello,
I want to access sql-server data from oracle 10g XE. I need the same functionality provided by Sql-server by Linked Servers, by which we can query on any data source(oracle, Excel, Access).
do, Oracle 10gXE provide us with same functionality ???
any pointers ???

Yes, it does work with Express Edition.
Here is a thread from the XE forum with examples.

Calling SQL Server Function from Oracle Database link

i have some data from a old SQL server i would i can access with a database link but i cant call function from my database link.
i would like to do something like

Problem accessing Sql server Procedure from Crystal with JDBC driver

I have some Crystal reports using SQL Server procedures, most of them are working very well; however, I have 2 that have problems accessing sql server procedures. These reports are working using OLE DB connection without problem, but when I try to relocate the connection to JDBC Crystal generates an error like that the procedure not return records.
The procedure is working with other products including OLE DB connections from crystal.
What can I do?

I have discovered that the procedures create and work temporary tables. In other cases when is working ok, the procedures have not working temporary tables.

Migrate MS SQL Server data to Oracle

We need to move our data from SQL Server to Oracle, the thing is that we already have db schema for SQL Server and Oracle, so there is no need to migrate the schema(Actually our application relies on the existing schema, we don't want to change that). Is there any way to migrate the data only with the predefined db schema?

I think best for you should work to create some bcp and sql loader migration scripts, similar to the ones that SQL Developer Migration Workbench creates when moving the data in offline mode.

You should be able to call it like you would any other procedure:
dbo.procedure_name@dblink(parameter_list);

SQL Server Connectivity from Oracle Solaris 9.2

We have data in SQL Server 2000 database and we need to transfer this to Oracle 9.2 database in SOLARIS environment. To do this, we would like to connect to SQL Server from Oracle Solaris, we explored options like
Transparent Gateway and Hetrogeneous Services.
We doubt whether it is possible to do so from Solaris environment to SQL Server, which runs only in Windows OS.
We tried connecting from SQL Server to Oracle Solaris, which we could not able to do it successfully.
Please guide us the various methods available to accomplish the same, thank you.

ODBC connect to SQL Server 2005 from Oracle 10.2.0.3 32bit Linux

I’m unable to establish a connection from Oracle 10.2.0.3 32bit Linux to SQL Server 2005.
The ODBC driver is the 32bit DataDirect 5.3 drivers and when I do a status on the listener it does have a handler for SQLDB
Any help is appreciated.

The error message is indicating problems loading the driver manager.
A common issue on Linux (especially on Suse Linux) is related to library caching. First of all make sure you add the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to your listener.ora file to guarantee the correct libraries will be loaded. Your SID section will then look like:

If this does not help enable strace and check out from which location libodbc.so is being loaded.
Please be also aware HSODBC has been desupported 15th of March. As you start a new project you should proceed with the follow up product DG4ODBC.

JDBC to access SQL server 2000 and Oracle.

I have the following requirement. I have an oracle database which contain sql data including BLOB and CLOB. Firstly, I should migrate the data to a SQL server 2000 database. That is, i should be able to have two databases, one on oracle and the other on sql server 2000. the two databases should contain the same data, which includes BLOB data. I guess, sql server 2000 does not have a BLOB data type. What is the equivalent data type i can use to save the Oracle's BLOB data in SQL server?? Should it be image type?
After i migrate the data to the sql server 2000 database, i should be able to connect to the two databases, oracle and sql server 2000, using the same JDBC code to retrieve, insert, update and delete the data. What are the drivers that i should use. I guess, the MS JDBC driver does not support BLOB and CLOB. Is there a driver that can support BLOB for sql server 2000 and is also free???!

I shall try to map a BLOB data column in oracle to an IMAGE data column in sql server 2000. I am using oracle jdbc driver and microsoft's jdbc driver for connecting to the databases.
My question is, can i use setBlob() method in the preparedstatement in jdbc code for setting data to the sql server 2000 image column?
rs.getBlob() and preparedstatement.setBlob()code works fine for oralce's BLOB column using oracle's jdbc driver.... Will the same jdbc code work for sql server 2000's image column using microsoft's jdbc driver??
