Access Web App - Need some advice with query (text to number problem)

In an Access Web App I want to create a query.
I have two tables which are related but in a bit complicated way. For some reason I have a text field in which I save a number. This number relates to the ID of another table. When I combine these two tables in a query, it's not working because the textfield
cannot query the (ID)number field.
Is there a way, in this query so that I covert the text field to a number so the query will work?
I tried to do it with the "Parse" function but no luck, so far.

Based on the description, you want to create a query by joining a text filed with number filed?

Need some advices with OBIEE

Hi guys,
At the moment I am doing an internship somewhere, and I am supposed to visualise some data from an Oracle database into a Google Map.
The data should be fake, because the application will be a showcase.
I need some start-up hints, because actually I don't know where to start and with which programs.
First of all a little background.
The following programs are installed on my laptop:
- Oracle DB (1013)
- Oracle Example Schemas
- Oracle WebLogic (103)
- Oracle BI enterprise (101340)
- JDeveloper
This is what I want:
- Create a database or schema with fake data. The fake data should consist of addresses. (for the Google Map)
- The combination with BI enterprise is a requirement, part of the internship programme.
- Combination with Google map functionality.
Maybe someone can give me some advices in how to begin. Which techniques I should use or some useful tutorials.
I would really appreciate if someone can give me a heads up!

The [Oracle by Example|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/index.html] website has many good step by step tutorials on OBIEE so that would be a good start. Having said OBIEE doesn't support "heat maps" or overlaying data on maps out of the box. They are some 3rd party tools out there but I don't think you want to go there. From my point of view anyone asking you to use OBIEE to overlay data on Google Maps doesn't know what OBIEE should be used for (and probably doesn't know Google Maps either).

We have a great idea for an app, need some advice

my wife and i were joking around about something and she came up with a great idea for an app. we don't know anything about programming or developing so any advice on how to proceed? i guess we need to find an app maker? to propose our idea to without it being stolen. any help would be great, i scrolled thru the first 5 pages of this thread and saw nothing related. thanks.

One option is if there is a similar type of app available via the iTunes app store that you like, contact the developer for the app. Without providing much detail about your app idea, ask the developer if they would contract their services to build your app - along with regular maintenance and app updates, etc. Keep in mind that Apple makes the final decision if an app will be available via the iTunes app store - the overwhelming majority of app submittals are approved, but not all based on Apple's written requirements.

A few questions I need some advice with.

I know how to put an image on an applet but my problem is how do I put an image in a JFrame?... rather than just using the boring set background color options.Example I have matrix.bmp and I want that as my background image on my java application/frame how do I go about doing that.

When I try the SCJP certification in x amount of time in the future, if I get a job as a Java programmer - would theye expect me to use a full blow API or IDE, or would theye just let me use a text editior?
The reason I ask that is because I preffer using a text editor and want to know if i'll have to learn how to use an IDE in the future.

I cant seem to find a good native compiler! (I can use a search engine so no smart comments please) i've found two, one is useless and the one I found on sourceforge cant seem to find the correct compiler once I attempt to create a Java exe. (link me a freeware one if you can please)

Is it possible to create a Jar file with anything other than an applet? i'm guessing you can but I keep getting a manifest error message... thus an explanation on why mine and a lot of other jar files (even in the java sdk) get that message and how to get around it.
I have some more questions about socks ect but i'll leave that for now.

Need some advice with indexing and search server in multihomed environment.

I want to introduce the JISS (java indexing and search server). We have an multihomed environment with two frontends for convergence and imap/pop proxy service and two mail stores in a cluster HA environment
(Sun cluster 3.2, messaging server 7u3-15.01, convergence 1.0-12.01 running on glassfish 2.1.1). The directory servers (multimaster) are on speperated servers.
I viewed the jiss deployment pages in the wiki (http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Indexing+and+Search+Service+Deployment+Planning), but they are more confusing than helpful.
My questions are as follows:
Can I put the jiss web service on the convergence server (to share the same glassfish server?
Is it better to put the indexing part of JISS on a seperate server or on the convergence server or better on the mail store servers?
Can I run the JMQ broker in an HA environment on the cluster? Is it possible to run JMQ together with messaging server in the same cluster group?
Can JISS index two mail stores (I didn't find anything in the config guide)?

Oracle Apps - need some advice

I would like to get into Oracle Apps. I am planning to learn and give some certification in Oracle Apps. I went through most of the pages in oracle.com, but couldnt get the information I am looking for. Where should I start to excel in Oracle Apps. I have already given PL/SQL certification and working in a similar track. So I would be grateful if anyone of you can advise me.
What are the pre-requisites for giving an Oracle Apps Certification exam? Should I have some specified amount of IT experience before I sit for the exam? Please help me friends...

Need some help with query

Hey all, I have the following scenario,

So basically I need to compare in a way that the combination of the values in A AND B match the recordset in C as such,
select column1, column2 from Table A, Table B
where a combination of both those columns exists in Table C. Therefore in the above example, this query should return "2,7" as the output. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Need some advice on how to approach a problem

I have a Jpanel, in which i use paintComponent() to draw a lot of things....
I pretty much have a large grid...and within this grid, i have lines, which are connected by points....The lines are moved around by dragging the points.
To check if a point is grabbed....i just get the x,y coordinates from the mouse listener....loop through my list of points, and check if the x,y coordinates of the mouse click fall within a rectangle of the point....this is pretty simple...especially since the points are rather small...
I now have to figure out a way to enable a right click popup menu to appear if the user right click on top of a line (give or take a few pixels)....now I could take the approach mentioned above...and loop through all the lines....but i would not be able to do 1 check per line...since the lines can be long/short, and take any angle...thus its not as simple to just check a specific area around the whole line (because this area might turn out to be too large)....
so what i was thinking is to create my own component, which would draw a line, and have its own mouse listeners...and the popup menu would only occur if the mouse listener for the component went off....
im not so sure of this idea...thats why i am posting to this forum....any and add advice is greatly appreciated!

thanks for your help...i read the distance formula...and i tried to implement it...but i couldn't get it working....I think i am confused as to what the distance formula is returning...here is my math:
we have a line between points: (105,239) & (153,239)...this is a straight line across the x - axis....and i click on a point: (140,230)
first thing i need to do is convert these points into Ax + By + C = 0....so:
y = (A/B)x + C
A = (y1-y2); ==> 0
B = (x1-x2); ==> -48
C = C*B; ==> 239 * -48 => -11,472
now we have our equation Ax + By + C = 0 ==> 0x - 48y - 11,472 = 0;
the distance formula states: abs(Ar + Bs + C)/sqrt(A^2 + B^2)....using r=140, and s = 230...we get:
abs(0 - 48*230 - 11,472) / sqrt(48^2) ==> approximately 469....
now this doesn't make sense....since the point is actually only 9 pixels away from the line (in the Y direction)....

I need some advice, i kind of have a problem

my ipod video was stolen out of my house the other day and i have a pretty good idea who did it and who has my ipod. The only problem is like the stupid college kid i am when i got my ipod i never registered it and cannot find the serial number. The one thing that i do have is a "Genius Bar" document from when my old ipod died on me. On the document it has the serial number of my old ipod but not the new one, however it does have the item number of the new ipod that apple gave to me. Do you think if i go to the apple store they will be able to take that number and figure out what the new serial number is or no? and if there is any other way to find the serial number please let me know.

If you haven't hooked up another iPod since the one that was stolen, then the serial number is in iTunes.
Open iTunes, go to preferences, click on the iPod tab. It will say "No iPod Connected". Click on that message and it will then change to say "Last iPod: xxxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxxx is the serial number of the iPod.

I had created a Z table with the following fields :

ABGRU.
I had written a select query as below :
select single vkorg abgru from ZADS into it_rej.
IT_REJ is a Work area:
DATA : BEGIN OF IT_REJ,
        VKORG TYPE VBAK-VKORG,
        ABGRU TYPE VBAP-ABGRU,
       END OF IT_REJ.
This is causing performance issue. They are asking me to include the where condition for this select query.
What should be my select query here?
Please suggest....

Having some serious issues with my iPhone and need some advice

I'm going to these two issues which have been occuring with me for the past weeks-
1.) I am facing a problem with my iPhone 5's lightning port or the cable. This started happening all of a sudden; one second my phone is charging, and the other it is not. Even if it is slightly moved from its position, it would stop charging, and further shaking starts it again, so on and so forth. At first I thought the issue might be with my cable, so I asked my friend to bring his lightning cable to my house so we could test that. It happened again- one shake the phone will charge, another shake stops it. (Note that any kind of movement does this, not only shaking) I'm a bit skeptical about his (my friend's) cable too, though- it shows NOT CHARGING on his iPad while it is in fact actually charging. His cable is only 3-4 weeks old though, so this confuses me even more. I think the issue might be with my port, but as of now I cannot draw a valid conclusion to my problem.
2.) The second problem is that I've noticed my battery drains a **** lot faster now- ever since the first issue started. I manage to get my phone charging by placing it very carefully on the table and it charges overnight. However, when I pick it up in the morning, and read some news, it drains from 100% to 99% in ~60 seconds. This never happened before. Before this, it used to be at 100% for at least 10-15 minutes (might be even more). If I reboot my phone, it shows 100% again, but it still drains a lot faster now. I know because I've been using this phone for the past 4 months now, and I know when it drains and when it does nots
Please, help! I need some advice as to how I should approach this problem. My phone is in the warranty period, however, I would like to have an expert's opinion first.

First: I've experienced the same problem with my iPhone 5. I've bought a new charger and it still did the same thing. I went to the Apple Store to get my iPhone checked out and they said that the pins inside my iPhone we're damaged, and I had to get a replacement.

Macro Timeout Error- MS Access Web App 2013

Hello everyone,
I have a MS Access Web App built with a lot of different tables and everything works fine. I have this one table with a number of fields (70 different fields), and some of them are lookups to other tables or a dropdown menu. In our company
we were using only SharePoint earlier and now we are migrating to access web app. I need to copy or import all the data that we had previously into that one table and then be able to do different types of data manipulations.
I have created a data macro to copy all the records even the lookups (a separate thread is available if anyone is dealing with that problem). When I try to copy say 500 records this works fine. But, when I try to copy more records it throws me a timeout
error. It only works for 60 seconds and then it stops and throws an error. Is there a way I can increase the timeout? Or has anyone else faced the same problem?
Please advise.

The recommended way is to use an Access desktop database and connect to the Azure database behind your App. The firewall and connection information is under File> Info > Connections.
You can then have linked tables to your SharePoint lists and to your Azure tables, and write append queries to copy the data over.

I'm not familiar with how Access Web Apps work. However, on the SharePoint side of things, it looks like a workflow will be your best bet. Are you using Visual Studio? I've created a few tutorials on sending email notifications in Visual Studio 2012. https://youtu.be/JFdiQEyDkEk

Will Office Web Apps Server 2013 work with SharePoint 2013 sites hosted in SP2010 compatibility mode?

We are planning a upgrade of a SP2010 farm to 2013. There has been a bit of customization so we wish to run the old sites on the new SP2013 platform in SP2010 compatibility mode.
So my question is will Office Web Apps Server 2013 work with the old sites hosted in compatibility mode?

According to your description, my understanding is that you need to know whether Office Web Apps 2013 is working with SharePoint 2013 sites which is in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode.
For my test, Office Web Apps 2013 with SharePoint 2013 sites which is in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode is working fine.

How do I show/refresh data from an Access Web App in an Excel spreadsheet saved in a Document Library on Sharepoint 2013 online

I have an Access 2013 Web App in my Sharepoint 2013 online website. It contains a query to report on its data (several, actually, but let's keep it simple). I want to connect an Excel spreadsheet to the query, visualise the data in pivot tables/graphs/whatever,
save the spreadsheet in a Document Library, and let other team site Sharepoint users open the spreadsheet (preferably in Excel online, but with Excel client if it has to be) and see/copy the data, refreshed with the latest information from the Access Web App.

The way I'm doing it at the moment is to create an ODC file to connect to the cloud-based Access 2013 database, save that ODC in a Data Connection Library in the SP site, and use the saved ODC file as data source in the Excel spreadsheet. This works and
successfully keeps everything 'in the cloud' but I can't get it to refresh in Excel Online, and if I open the spreadsheet in Excel Client I have to enter the database password every time to refresh it. I don't really want to issue this password to everyone
who might want to view the data. There must be a better way than this ODC method, I suspect.
Googlings on this have led down various blind alleys - Excel Services, PowerPivots, Web Parts - but I'm stuck on which to follow through. Please, someone, point me to an article/book/website that explains how to do this step-by-step in simple language..

I don't see any quick way of achieving it - at least there's no such functionality exists in SharePoint. All you can do, develop an event receiver that will update the fields in the list item once the excel file is added/updated. You can use OpenXml API
to manipulate the excel file.
