How do I configure that as I am not accessing any sever, its a local machine. And during client tools installation there was no such step for CMS configuration.
Please help.

  • LOVs in Business View Manager

    Hi All,
I know the implementation of dynamic cascading parameters using list of values in Crystal XI.
But i need some information regarding Business View Manager.
Country > Region > City - This is my desired cascading parameter. For creating this parameter, what should be my data foundation?
    Select country,region,city from customer
Can i use this query in my data foundation? I think this will duplicate the values inside country and region...
Please help me in this issue....
    Thanks,
    Meena

  • Updating databae password in Business view manager and CMC

    Hi All ,
We are carrying out a step of changing the database password on which the Infoview reports run.Currently the solution i know is to log on to Business View manager and change the password manually for each promopt. similarly i have to log on to CMC and go to report >Process>Database and enter the new password.
We have 85 reports and their corresponding promopts. So we have to manually enter the password upto 150 times.
Could you you please advise on a more efficient way to change the password.
    Thanks.

  • Error code "A valid key code to use the Business View Manager is not found"

    Hello.
I am trying to resolve this message in the Business View Manager. The message of " A valid key code to use the Business View Manager is not found" appears when accessing a folder in the Repositiry Explorer. I have admin rights for View, Edit and Set Security.
    What am I doing wrong?

Try running this query in the CMS Query Builder tool:
    Select * from CI_SystemObjects where si_id = 4
When the query returns, look for the attribute "SI_CAN_USE_METADATA" and see if its set to false. Or see if something else in there is set to false that looks more suitable.  Your keycode might have the BusinessView manager locked out.  The error sounds more like a keycode restriction than a permissions issue with security.

    Hi Deepak,
You can find Business View Manager at the following path if it is installed on your machine.

  • Using a data source configured in Business View Manager?

    Post Author: Rob
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Hello,We're using Crystal Enterprise 10 service pack 6 on Server 2003 and I'm having a bit of a problem (surprise)!   I've configured a data source in  Business View Manager with the intention of the users not having to enter a password for the data source in a report.  However, the data source has been stored in the repository but is not visible anywhere within Crystal Reports or the Enterprise web site at all. Any pointers as to the usage of said data source would be gratefully received! Thanks in advance,Rob

  • How to find required information in order to log on Business View Manager?

    After Business Object Client installation successfully, I try to log on Business View Manager, but failed. One pop-up windows(Log on BusinessObjects Enterprise) come and let me put the information as below;
    System:
    User name:
    Password:

Could anyone let me know how to find the above required information? Thanks!

You need to find this information from a person who installed server part of this deployment.
System: Name of the CMS server
User name: Administrator or other user name that exist in the Enterprise
    Password: obviously...
Authentication: type of the authentication setup on the server side for the user you will be using.

  • Issue with creating List of Values in Business View Manager

    Hi,
Could any one help me to figure out what this issue refers to?
When i created a List of Values in Business View Manager, it is throwing the following error!!!!
The List of Values used by this parameter cannot be based on a Business View derived from the current Data Foundation or Business Element.
Prior to creating LoV, i've done successfully with creating Data connection, Data foundation, Business element and Business View..
    Thanks
    Viswa

    Hi Visaw,
    Firstly,
    -->Open Repository Explorer,
    -->where you are have related DF,DC,BV,BEand LOV's
-->Right click on LOV's -->There you can find Schedule list of values. Then schedule list of values and check if it prompts for errors.
If you face the same problem, what is the error you are getting.
Else try to use the LOV's and proceed further.
-->Check whether the LOV's are pointing to the same Business View and check the Business view pointing to the same Datafoundation.
If you are facing the same problem then try with the below steps:
-->Try to Create a report at designer level Using then Business view
-->Create two new parameters and select the existing parameters(LOV parameter's)
    -->Check whether it is working.
-->If you  face the same problem ,Update the connection of Business view manager.
Go to Database tab-->Select Set DataSource  location and update it with current Businessview Manager.
Try this ,and let us know.

  • Connecting to a database through Business View Manager

    Hi,
I am connecting to various application databases (Oracle) using the Business View Manager. When does the connection between my Business View Manager Data Connection and my application database gets "released"? If I have scheduled, say a report to run every 0800 hrs, does the connection cease after the report run has completed?

I can't tell from your post if you're concerned about db connections being left open too long or if you want them to remain open for use by other documents.  But there is a setting on the CRProcessingServer called "Allow Report Jobs to Stay Connected to the Database until the Report Job is Closed" which helps control this.  Default is unchecked.  However, I believe a report job when scheduled closes the db connection at the end as part of its closing steps.  It's possible you are seeing a connection left open until the jobtimeout triggers (which is another setting in the CMC on the same CRprocserver page).
You may want to monitor the database while scheduling a new report to see the session open.  And then watch it after the scheduled job finishes to see how long it takes to close out.

  • SAP BW MDX Query - Business view manager

    Hi,
i want to create a list of values in business view manager based on a BEx Query.
But after creating a connection to the BW System, i am not able to get any query shown (no items found).
    Configuration:
    SAP BW 7.31 SP5
    BO 4.0 SP7
Any ideas? maybe a specific bw transport?
    Regards,
    Zaki

If, after making sure that you have the correct transports installed, you still can't get this to show up in BVM, you could try this:
    1.  Create a report that contains just the data that you want to show in the prompt.
    2.  Create a dynamic prompt in the report to show the data that you want to use.
    3.  Publish the report to your Favorites folder in BO, making sure to turn on the option to save repository objects.
This will automatically create the LOV and its supporting objects in BVM.  You should then be able to edit them as necessary to set up the automatic login for the connection and anything else you need to do.

  • Error creating LOV in Business View Manager - cannot be based on current DF

    Hi,
I'm trying to use Business View Manager for the first time.  I'm trying to create a dynamic, cascading prompt to be used by Crystal Reports.
    I've been able to create:
    - data connection
    - data foundation - simple one table
    - business elements - two columns from the table
    - business view
    - List of Values
I am now trying to create a parameter in the Business Elements tool.  The parameter needs to be a Dynamic, Cascading parameter.
When I try to save the new parameter, I get the follow error:
The List of Values used by this parameter cannot be based on a Business View derived from the current Data Foundation or Business Element.
    HELP
    Thanks

    Hi Chris
If you are trying to create a LOV and use that as a parameter, then you need to create LOV as Dynamic Cascading values. Once created then you can use that LOV in the Crystal Reports.
This is the best way to get dynamic cascading prompts in Crystal reports.
Please refer to Business View Admin guide for more information.
    Hope this helps!!
    Regards

  • Is there SDK for import function in business view manager?

Every time we deploy crystal objects to customers' environment, we have to import xml files one by one in business view manager. Now I'm working on a c# program(vs2005) to realize importing a batch of xml files. My design is to collect file names from customers first and import them by calling some SDK of import one by one each time. But I could not find such kind of SDKs. All information I got is related to InfoObjects for BOE. Is there SDK for importing xmls in business view manager?

There currently is no SDK for the Business View Manager.

  • Command Table - Business View Manager

    Greetings,
I'm trying to create a command table, in Business View Manager, that is a view of the FACTS table.
    Command Table:
    Time_ID
    Measure_ID
    Valuetype_ID
    Amount
I want to sum all duplicate fields by amount, so I try to create a command table with the following code:
    select dbo.facts.Time_ID, dbo.facts.measure_ID, dbo.facts.valuetype_ID, sum(dbo.facts.sum)
    From dbo.facts
    group by facts.Time_ID
and I get the error "SQL syntax error returned. Please modify ant try again"
But, if I isolate de expression without the field sum(...) or only with the sum field it returns the result.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks.

    Solved,
I have to put all fields except the amount field in the group by expression =)
    Thanks
