Accessing performance counters in CUCM version 6 and above

I do know that the older versions of CUCM allows access to windows performance counters using perfmon as explained in this doc
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/service/4_0_1/ccmsrvs/ssperf.html
However in the later versions of CUCM which runs on Linux OS, is there any way that these counters are made available apart from the RTMT?
I  have included monitors for CUCM using SNMP, however certain error conditions such as DB replication etc are not available using SNMP. What is the best way I can capture these parameters if I dont have the RTMT?
Thanks in advance
Roycey

  • Saving PDF for versions 4 and above

How can I save a document to be compatible with versions 4 and above of Acrobat?
    FayeC

Assuming you have the proper version of Acrobat, you can use FILE>Reduce File Size or use the PDF Optimizer in another menu. Both of these allow saving in an earlier version. They may only be in Pro and only in a version newer than what you have.
A third option is to reprint the PDF with the AA4 compatibility selected. I think there is maybe a forth option in AA8.

  • Non Administrators can not access Performance Counters

I have a problem with the ColdFusion performance counters in
    CF8 - 8,0,1,195765 enterprise version installed on Windows 2003 R2
Standard Edition SP2. The counters appear for administrators, but
they are NOT available for Non administrators that are members of
the "Performance Monitor Users" group. All other perfmon counters
are visible by these users but not the CF8 ones. I do NOT want to
give all users Admin access to my servers, just so that they can
monitor the servers performance! Does anyone else have this
    problem?

Hi Charlie, yes this is the same post. I have seen this
technote and have followed the recommendation there but this has
not fixed the issue. I'm using a 32bit CF and OS. The perfmon
counters for CF don't seem to work the same way as the other
perfmon counters do which is NON Administrators must be a member of
the local "Performance Monitor Users" or "Performance Log Users"
group do access perform or perform logs.
    Thanks for your reply though!

  • Cannot play Adobe Access Protected Content in Chrome (version 30 and higher); Error 3321/3322?

    Symptom:
An end-user cannot play Adobe Access protected content.  The client application returns a persistent 3321 (Individualization Error) or 3322 (Device Binding Failure) error code.
    Root Cause in Chrome Browser:
Adobe Access DRM must create a unique machine identifier (I.e. "token") to identify the the device.  This token is provided to the Adobe Access license server during a license request to view DRM protected content.  If Chrome Browser disables the ability for Adobe Access DRM to create a unique machine identifier, playback of Protected Content will fail with a 3321 or 3322 error code.  By default, this setting is enabled and available to toggle in Chrome Browser version 30 and higher.  Unchecking this option will prevent Adobe Access DRM from properly functioning. A 3321 or 3322 error that persists after a call to resetDRMVouchers is an indicator that this setting may need to be changed.
    Resolution:
    In your Chrome settings:
    •             Click on "Show advanced settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Privacy" section, click on "Content settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Protected Content" section, make sure that the following box is checked "Allow identifiers for protected content (computer restart may be required)".
We are working with Google to allow better detection of this condition, so that the client will return a 3368 (User cancelled or user settings disallow operation) error code when the box is unchecked.

  • Performance counters from nginx, Varnish Cache and Elastic Search on Linux

Hi, we would like to monitor our few Linux devices with SCOM 2012 R2. The OS counters are working well, but we are running on Linux the applications nginx, Varnish Cache and Elastic Search from which we need the performance counters as well. Are there any
Management Packs available to read the data from these applications?
Thank you very much for any hint.

I'm not aware of any pre-built management packs for the applications you have listed.
While you could build your own management packs using OpsMgr's management pack authoring capabilities, if your monitoring needs are fairly straightforward, you could create some shell scripts to retrieve the information you want (for both health and/or performance),
and then use the Linux/UNIX script monitoring wizard in the OpsMgr console to create the monitors you want.  Creating the monitors/rules is super-easy once you have the shell scripts.

Any one with an idea of which IOS versions or images on WS-C4503 switch and  12404/PRP routers support any EEM version 2.0 and above?

You would need 12.2(40)SG and IOS-XR 3.6 and higher to get EEM 2.x support on both of those platforms.

  • How to access performance counter directly?

What I am going to do is programming with hardware performace counters of UltraSPARC T2+ processors in Solaris 10. I programmed a loadable syscall to invoke the hv_niagara_getperf or ultra_getpic, trying to get the counters' data. But there just comes a panic, unresponsive without any text notice, and then reset. I don't know what's the real causes because I am not very familiar with SUN servers.
I did some experiments both in primary domain and logical domain. In primary domain, both hv_niagara_getperf and ultra_getpic lead to panic, and in logical domain, hv_niagara_getperf return the ENOACCESS status and ultra_getpic lead to panic.
    My question are:
1, If there is some initialization works or privilege settings to do to prevent panic?
2, If Logical Domain can be set privileges to access hardware performace counters? (I read the Hypervisor api manuals and it says only one domain can access performance counters. But vcpus is divided and allocated to different domains, every vcpu has its performace counters, how can I do to access their own performace counters in different domains?)
3, I know there are methods such as libcpc, cpc module, and pcbe module for users or develpers to get performace data. What I am working at is to make some threads performance tuning on UltraSPARC T2+, Is the overhead acceptable to use these library or modules supported by the OS architecture.
Please help me, indicate my fault and give me some advice or instruction. Thank you very much.

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.
    See http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/ and http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/help/
You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.

  • Performance Counters in Oracle Data Provider Version 11

    Hi,
I'd like to be able to monitor some of the new Oracle performance counters added in ODP Version 11. What do I need to do to make these performance counters visible in Windows Server 2003's Performance Monitor?
    Do I:
    - upgrade my ODP install to version 11
    - modify the web.config file for my ASP application to enable these new performance counters.
This assumes that Oracle is maintaining these performance counters in the background and requires no application level changes. Is there anything else I'm missing in order to be able to leverage these new performance counters?
Or, do I need to make changes at the application level in order to leverage the new ODP performance counters?
I'm hoping that it is the former set of requirements, as the application is a package and we'd rather not have to try to make changes to it, but we would like to be able to leverage the new ODP performance counters to help monitor and diagnose some resource consumption issues that the application seems to have.
Thank you for any advice that you can give me,
    - Bill -

    Hi,
The performance counters are new to 11.1.6.20 so you need at least that version (not the 11.1.6.0 version that comes with the 11g database).
You enable them simply by changing the value for PerformanceCounters in the ODP part of the registry (see the 11.1.6.20 odp docs for more info).
There is/was an issue with using them in an IIS app, so you'll need to apply at least 11.1.0.6 Patch 4 to the client machine if that's what you need them for.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

I have upgraded Apple Aperture from version 2 to version 3 and I'm having a problem with the "Highlights and Shadows" adjustment. According to the user's manual, I should have access to an advanced disclosure triangle which would allow me to adjust mid contrast, colour, radius, high tonal width and low tonal width.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to access this advanced section, I'd be most grateful.

    Hi David-
The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

  • No performance counters and other issues

The title is my main issue, but beating my head against a wall here. Anyone with enough patience to read through my issues below is a saint.
Following every guide out there, myself and our Linux admin have gone over in detail everything that needs to be done to monitor our RHEL 6 servers in SCOM, but alas, we are having issues.
First, we tried it on three different servers, all running RHEL 6.6. The servers appear as green and healthy in SCOM, and we get "some" alerts from them such as unauthorized login attempts. However, when we try to open a performance view,
there are no counters displayed on two of them. One of them displays all the counters you would expect, but none of them have any data collected, except for one lone three hour period from two weeks ago. Before and after that: nothing. That's my biggest confusion,
because for some odd reason, it managed to work for that time period, so what changed?
Next, I should mention that I have also had to flat out disable the unix/linux heartbeat monitor because when it's enabled, after about 10 minutes all 3 linux servers will go grey, and no alerts come in for them.
Digging through all of the posts here, I've come across multiple things to try that have worked for other people, but all with no luck. For starters, theres the whole port 1270 thing. There is no firewall on either the management server or the linux
servers, and checking for listeners shows the scom agent listening on port 1270 on the linux server. Should there be something listening on port 1270 on the Management server? Because if so, there isn't, and I cant find any posts that say how to make that
happen. I've attempted to run simple winrm commands from the management server to attempt to gather data from the linux servers, however, when running the command below:
    winrm e "http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/SCX_Agent?__cimnamespace=root/scx" -r:"http://<server>:1270" -auth:basic -username:<user> -password:<pass> -encoding:utf-8
It fails with the following error:
Message = The WinRM client cannot process the request. The authentication mechanism requested by the client is not supported by the server or unencrypted traffic is disabled in the service configu
ration. Verify the unencrypted traffic setting in the service configuration or specify one of the authentication mechanisms supported by the server.  To use Kerberos, specify the computer name as the
remote destination. Also verify that the client computer and the destination computer are joined to a domain. To use Basic, specify the computer name as the remote destination, specify Basic authentic
ation and provide user name and password. Possible authentication mechanisms reported by server:
Anyone have any ideas why there are no performance counters, or why winrm requests fail? Is there some missing hidden step or configuration need on the linux end to make the winrm queries work?
    Please help!

    Steve,
I've never seen any alerts from SCOM in an event viewer log. If you're talking about errors about communication, there arent any coming in. By all accounts, it appears as if SCOM "thinks" it's working fine. As for the agent going "grey",
they only go grey if I have the heartbeat monitor enabled. Even when they're grey, I can still run tasks in the scom console against them to get top processes etc.
I've tried changing some of the winrm configs already to attempt successful connections, but with no luck. Here's the current output of winrm get winrm/config:

We started the trace on the linux server, and it does appear to be hitting it, but I can't really tell from the logs what exactly it's trying to do. Every 5 minutes it appears to be hitting the /var/log/secure file but im not sure what it's looking for.
Below is the log activity for the first 20 minutes or so after we began the log. From what I understand, the management server should be attempting to grab performance data every 5 minuts, but I don't think that's happening.

I have a Mac computer and am trying to use a Photoshop CS4 program, but after accessing my desktop files through Adobe Bridge and clicking twice on any of the pictures to get into Photoshop, instead of entering photoshop, I get on the lefthand side an enlarged version of the picture with red, yellow and green buttons on top. Any suggestions on what is wrong, or what can be corrected ?

And there is the problem. Your pictures are opening up in Mac's own Preview app.
Do you want all your jpegs to open in Photoshop, or only when you are in Bridge?
Selecting a program to open a certain file is called: File Type Association.
You can choose this at the MacOS level or the Bridge level.
    Here's how to do both:
Either MacOS or Bridge has the wrong app associated with the jpeg. Let's start with MacOS
Close Bridge and Preview. Select one of your jpegs, and press Cmd i, That will bring up the file info window.
Go down to the "Open with" section of File Info.
Choose Photoshop CS4 and click on the Change All... button to apply this choice to every jpeg on your Mac.
Then open Bridge and see if double-clicking opens it in Photoshop.
Now that means all jpegs on your Mac will open in Photoshop.  Maybe you don't want that.
You can set your jpegs to open in Preview when Bridge is closed.
When you open Bridge, there is Preferences > File Type Associations where you can direct Bridge to open the jpegs in Photoshop when you are viewing in Bridge.

  • Is any difference in the CDR output format of CUCM version 6.1.5 and 7.1.5?

    Hello,
Customer has a CUCM 6.1.5 cluster which is getting upgraded to 7.1.5. currently the CUCM CDR is sent to a external system (performix) which generates required reports. I would like to know if there is any difference in the CDR output format of CUCM version 6.1.5 and 7.1.5/ its vital to confirm this prior to upgrade as the performix is managed by a different vendor.
    Please advise !
    Shahid

You can review the CDR documentation here to find that out, most likely there might be some changes

    - Unable to load performance counters from my system or any other system. please reply with details.

    Hello,
I did the same, new DB is listing for me :)
Steps I followed are as below:
Using an elevated administrator command prompt perform the following steps.
Change the path to the BINN directory of the SQL Server instance you desire to correct.   (Ex: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQL2008\MSSQL\Binn)
    2.       Execute unlodctr  <<REGISTERED SERVER NAME>>    For
    example: unlodctr MSSQL$SQL2008 or SQLAgent$SQL2008, …
Execute lodctr /T:<<perf-sql* matching the counters you desire to load>>    For example: perf-MSSQL$SQL2008sqlctr.ini or perf-SQLAgent$SQL2008sqlagtctr.ini
for SQLAgent, …  The /T is important to load the SQL Server performance counter provider as a trusted provider.
Cycle the remote registry service  net stop "Remote Registry" and net start "Remote Registry"
Force a WMI synchronization using   winmgmt /resyncperfctr "<<PID>>"  where PID is the process id of the WinPriv.exe (you can get this from Task
    Manager)

We installed a new Exchange 2007 CAS on Windows 2008R2. Got rid of old CAS on Exchange 2007. Now seeing this error. Does anyone have an idea??

    Hi,
If the issue persists, I recommend you install Exchange 2007 SP3 RU7 and check the result. Also, ensure that Exchange 2010 SP2 RU1 or later version is installed. Old Exchange version may lead to the CAS-to-CAS proxy incompatibility.
