Accessing windows explorer through portal

is it possible to access windows explorer through portal. or is there a way to access the files in the computer thro portal. i mean something similiar to windows explorer.
can we access windows explorer itself or we need build an application for this. can someone give me an idea on this. its urgent.

a. Access through Windows Explorer. User should be able to do all required operations related to document handling through Windows Explorer (Check in, Check out, etc.). all these must be done thro portal.
b. Integration with MS Office and other popular softwares like Visio, MS Project, etc. User should be able to open, save, check-in, check- out document from within these applications. the corresponding file when clicked should open in ms office or word with all the tool boxes enabled.
c. allow the users to categorize the document repository to different categories.
d. should support versioning of the documents.
e. should have predefined user levels / category.
plzz look into this , say me which is possible and which is not possible. Thanks in advance

You cannot block explorer.exe when you do not replace the shell - the
desktop you see effectively IS explorer.exe...

User is locked in R/3 but still access the application through portal

We are currently on NW2004s SP10 .
We locked the User A in R/3 SRM backend system and from Enterprise Portal the same User A login and try to access the SRM application in backend . The system is allowing to access which we want to prevent .
The authentication ticket type is "SAP Logon Ticket" . The User A is trying to access ITS services through Portal.
Do we have specific SSO parameter which needs to set in backend SRM application .

Portal Runtime Error while accessing BW reports through portal

We are facing portal runtime error(An exception occurred while processing your request. Please send the exception id to your portal administrator) while accessing BI reports through portal frequently.
We are unable to trace the error in the 'default trace' log file and although refreshing the cache solves this issue, it is difficult to explain this to every user individually.

We have implemented the FPN using RRA.
This error comes only for few users when they navigate in Portal. After clearing the cache, it works for all. Kindly help us to resolve this issue.

Hi I have just installed Windows Server 2012 and trying to give access to the users. The users are on windows XP Pro SP3 remote desktop client (Shell and control version 6.1.7600 with Remote Desktop Protocol 7.0 support).
I have enabled the windows server 2012 remote desktop users through "control panel -> systems and security -> Remote access" for the users. When I try to connect to the windows server as administrator, it is getting connected.
But when I try to connect as other users I get the following message.
"To sign in remotely, you need the right to sign in through Remote Desktop Services. By default members of the Administrators group have this right. If the group you're in does not have the right, or if the right has been removed from the Administrators
group, you need to be granted the right manually."
Is there any other setting to be done to eanble the Remote Desktop for the users.

Have you tried adding those users to the "Remote Desktop Users" group? It's in Active Directory Users and Computers and it's a Built-In group. Might want to give that a try ...

Not able to Access Webdypro applications through portal

We are using iviews created using in SAP Web Dynpto iView template in SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0.
Resently, we have migarated server from 32 bit machine to 64 bit machine.
After migration We are facing some problem with web dynpro applications.
Web Dynpro applications can be opened from internet but not from intranet.
We want that applications can be accessed from intranet as well as internet.
Address of Web AS specified in system used by web dynpro applications is in the form <proxy hostname>.<domain>.<extension>:<port-SSL> like xyz.company.net:SSL-Port-Number.
Translation rule is defined on proxy server for converting this address to actual address in the form <server host>.<domain>.<extension>:<port> like serverhostname.company.net:WebASportNumber.
This rule is working when appication is accessed from internet. However, address traslation is not taking place in case of intranet.

Now every time i try and start windows like I used to, the computer restarts but then i get a black screen with text on the top left saying something like "no system disk". Accessing windows application through WCF service under IIS

I am developing a system where user interacts with WCF Service hosted in IIS server. The WCF application then have to fire-up winform application along with some parameters. This winform application do some processing and then load a application(software) installed
in the server. This application will create some output documents and put it in the share-able folder where user has a access to.
It is working fine in development environment i.e. output was being created but when I deployed it in IIS, it started throwing errors. I tried loading the WinForm using two methods:
Winform is loaded creating a instance of WinForm from WCF host
Instance of WinForm is loaded (.EXE) using System.Process.Start()
Both operation failed and throws "System.UnauthorizedAccessException". How to achieve this using IIS?

ITunes crashes every time it accesses windows explorer

I've got a problem with iTunes crashing every time I try to sync photos to my iPhone (3GS, OS4.0). When I hit the change folder button to select the folder that I want to sync from it immediately crashes. I've had this problem with my iPad as well. Any ideas what causes it and how to get my photos to sync?

Maybe it's down to internet speed - as I just realised my speed had dropped to virtually nil.
It's now back up to a fiull 1.86mbps upload.

Can't view LR metadata modifications on Windows Explorer? What gives?

Hi all,
This is my first question to the community, I searched for the answer to this problem here and elsewhere but not able to find out why, hope you can help.
I'm coming to grips with managing data in LR but I've stumbled upon a snag. I'm using LR 5.7 and adding metadata to CR2 and JPG files and wanted to check whether the metadata modifications showed up on Windows Explorer. It appears as if they don't. My workflow is detailed below, could you point out if I'm missing anything?
What I did was fill some IPTC and EXIF fields on LR 5.7 and click on "save metadata to file". The fields I added data to was headline and description (IPTC), user comment (EXIF) and title and caption fields (Lightroom's own fields I presume).
However the metadata I added does not display on Windows Explorer (upon right click/properties/details). I'm using Windows 7 and MS website says Explorer is able to display IPTC and EXIF fields. This however does not seem to be the case. Did anyone else come across this problem or am I doing sth wrong.
To test it further I modified Title, Subject and Comments fields on Windows Explorer (through file properties/details tab),.I don't know whether these fields are an official part of IPTC or EXIF standards but they don't display on LR either.

My Windows File Explorer (8.1) does show some of the metadata that LR 5.7 writes, but not all. I no longer have access to Windows 7, but I'm certain that it does too. LR 5.7 will also read metadata written by Windows Explorer.
Some general caveats:
- Be sure to Save Metadata To File in LR, or better, set the option Edit > Catalog Settings > Automatically Write Changes Into XMP.
- When you make changes to metadata outside of LR, be sure to Read Metadata From File to get it back into LR.
- When you make changes with the Explorer Properties window, make sure you click OK or Apply.
- Use the free Exiftool if you want to examine metadata authoritatively. Virtually every other program, including LR, Windows Explorer, and OS X Finder, has significant problems and limitiations with metadata.
I can't explain all that you're seeing. If you can't figure it out using Exiftool, then I suggest taking a sample pic you've written with LR, upload it to Dropbox or similar, and post the link here; we can take a look.
The LR metadata fields you mentioned map to these industry-standard fields:
Title > XMP:Title, IPTC:ObjectName
Caption, Description > EXIF:ImageDescription, XMP:Description, IPTC:Caption-Abstract
Headline > XMP:Headline, IPTC:Headline
User Comment > EXIF:UserComment
Windows File Explorer doesn't show Headline, and it has somewhat different mappings for Title. You can experiment for yourself with Exiftool.

OfficeJet 4500 and Problem with Launching Windows Explorer (XP OS)

I installed HP OfficeJet 4500 wireless printer with XP operating system on my desktop PC in Wireless mode. Printing works fine from desktop and wireless laptops. However, when I try to access Windows Explorer on my desktop PC, using the desktop shortcut or executable file name in the "Run" menu, the screen flashes, goes blank (blue screen) then refreshes the desktop but will not launch Windows Explorer. This also occurs when I go to My Computer or Network Places and select "My Documents" or click on the root of the C: drive. The only way I can access my files is to use the actual program they were created in (i.e., Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.) I used System Restore and restored my computer to a date prior to installing the printer and this solved the problem. When I reinstalled the HP OfficeJet printer, the problem recurred, so it is definitely associated with installing the printer. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks for your help.

I haven't seen that issue specifically. I would download and run the HP Printer Diagnostic Utility. There might be some file conflicts during the installation that are not resolved that this utility might fix. I have a C309a AiO that had some other issue that the Diagnostic utility fixed.

Hi,
one Bug i discovered in the TP Build 9879:
Longer Internet Explorer Downloads are running (some GBs), then after some time the Clock and Notification Icons disappear. If i'm trying to start the Windows Explorer it hangs up and also strange parts appear on the desktop. If i restart then the Windows
Explorer through Task Manager all seems be working again until after some minutes the same problem returns.
Can you see same problems?

There are several long threads about this and has been widely reported. It
isn't just IE downloads, it happens whenever an icon in the taskbar
displays a progress bar. There is no fix yet beyond killing and restarting
explorer.exe.

Windows Explorer: access to network drive is denied

Hello
When I open Windows explorer and type in the address bar a location that points to a drive (local or networkdrive), I get the error message: access to drive is denied.
The network drives points to an DFS location. The personal user drive is assigned through the users account name in Active Directory, the other drives are mapped with an logonscript.
When I browse to the drives (local or network) with command-prompt, there is no problem. The users have sufficient rights to their folder.
Also I have tried to remap the drive manually with net use, but the problem still exists.
Anyone an idea?

Could you access the local drive directly from Windows Explorer which show every your local drive?
Like Forest suggeation, please get the enough permission of these drive firstly.
If the issue still persists, please try this(Note: backup the registry entry when you modify it):
1. start -> run;
2. type regedit to open registry;
3. go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoint2\;
4 now you can see keys like

{4bdd4abe-fe4b-11d5-8453-806d6172696f}
5. if you see any sub folder in it like Shell;
6. delete Shell folder;
7. confirm the issue.

Windows Explorer access to Xserver G5 Directories / Files

In the office there is a XServer G5 machine. I have a Windows XP PC. Using Windows Explorer, I need to have access to XServer Directories / Files. The internet explorer, email and connection to other non-apple computers work fine.
Any ideas ?

I’d like to thank you for your time.
My computer was purchased a couple of weeks ago, when I started to work here. The software was preloaded by Dell. I do not have to logon when the pc boots up. My computer does not see the XServe at all. A connection to another computer, Unix based, works fine through putty, or telnet.
Email, network printer and Internet services work fine.
Below, I answer your questions.
Is the problem computer able to see the XServe at all or can it see the server and just not access the folders and files? (NO, my computer does not see the XServe at all.)
Since you're a small organization, do your Windows computers require logins? (In one of the Windows computers that “sees” the XServe’s directories and files, the user has to login in. The other Windows computer that also “sees” the XServe’s directories and files, does not require a logon, when the machine boots up. I don't have to logon to anything when my pc boots up.)
If not, then I would suspect that the account automatically logging in on the problem Windows machine does not have access to the files and folders on the server. Add this user account to the correct security group on the server and that will probably solve your problem. (I agree with what you suggest, however, I don’t know the administrator account/password on the XServe machine to add the user account. Nobody else knows anything about that machine except the consultant who set it up and disappeared.)
I have an understanding about what has to be done, and I’d like to ask you something. Is there any default system or administrator account where I could login to XServe and do the addition? “For example with the Oracle DBMS there are several default accounts/passwords supplied by the vendor, so that authorized persons can use them to do certain things.” What about Apple?
By the way, the XServe is in a small air conditioned closet-room, where there is not even a tiny console or other display connected to the server. I guess that in the past whenever, whoever did something either brought in a laptop, or connected to the server from an existing computer, or from a remote location.
