ACE Certification Query

Hey,
I'm interested in giving the ACE exam for Photoshop CS4 but I don't know how should I prepare.I already have the Exam guide and it only has few sample questions. Please some one suggest me any book or blog or anything which can be helpful in the preparation.I also wanted to ask, till when the exam will be available ?
Thanks.

One need the knowledge of
using the application and the theoretical knowledge of the application
as well. I don't remember having to answer questions based on theoretical knowledge of the application (perhaps you mean something else?).
Many questions I had on Ps Ace exams were about keyboard
shortcuts, positions of certain elements within Ps interface etc.
I think an "expert" should know keyboard shortcuts and how to assign them as well. Likewise, knowing where commands are located is essential. As I said, most people find commands intuitively or use KBSCs so much that they forget where commands are located.
On
the last exam for CS5 I had loads of photography questions that
required the knowledge of Photography not Photoshop so without
experience in photography I wouldn't know the answers.
There was a time when you could get by without knowing anything about photography but since the advent of digital photography and the addition of Camera Raw and features such as Photomerge and Merge To HDR, you need to know something about how to originate files in order to process images, make the best panoramas and HDR images.
One can look at the Ace Exam Preps that can be found online, they may help as well.
One can but you will need the ability to desipher the topics and time to find appropriate pages in Help. For example, how many people will know what's meant by the following:
•    Given a scenario, use Refine Edge/Mask to capture increased detail both soft and hard edges.
Above is the very first topic in the recertification Prep Guide for Photoshop CS5 ...If you get stuck at the first topic...

  • Regarding Adobe Flex ACE certification exam

    Hi,
Iam planning to take Adobe Flex ACE certification exam in 2 weeks . Iam currentlydeveloping web based application in social Retail 2.0 in Flex 3.0
But I have no practical knowledge in Adobe AIR.  I planning to read theory alone regarding AIR modules. Is it possible to get thru the flex certification if i dont have practical knowledge in AIR ?

    Hi,
Have you tried out the Attest 1.5 AIR app? It's a sample exam engine for the Flex 3/AIR Certification that can help you prepare for your certification.
The types of questions shown for the AIR APIs etc should be fairly representative of the types of questions and content you will need to know for the actual exam. At the end of your exams, the questions you got wrong will have feedback and links to open up documentation to help you understand why you got a question wrong. We are currently adding more questions/exams to it as well as some UI tweaks, so you should be seeing a 2.0 version coming soon !! It's FREE for developers, and you can install it here: http://software.pxldesigns.com/attest/
Hope it helps ~ please feel free to provide feedback to Dave or myself either at PXL Design's site or mine, thanks!

  • ACE certification- practice tests, study materials?

Hi, I'm looking to get the ACE certification in Photsohop. What would be some good materials to study and is there a place that has practice exams to give me an idea what the test is like?
What kinds of questions are on the test, are they all multiple choice?
I have the Photoshop CS5 Classroom In A Book from Adobe, is that a good study material?
Any information you could give me regarding the test would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea what to expect.

    Hi Thomas,
Good question.  We are working on putting together a document that will identify different learning vehicles to help meet the different objective areas for the exam.  Goal is within the next week to have something ready .... it would be a living document as learning content is always popping up ... docs, whitepapers, demos, training, etc.
In the future, as Adobe releases more Enterprise certification exams this kind of learning map will be available when the exam is announced.
It will be posted to the Adobe site but I will be sure to post here this one time in specific response to your question in the event that the publishing process would cause delays.

  • Do the ACE certifications only focus on new features in the version of the software.

    Hello everyone,
A bit confused about adobe ACE certifications.
right,  i was looking at using some of the revision notes from ucertify, and was a little baffled you see, in the notes theres is only 200 and something questions on the photoshop cs5 exam and when i looked on the photoshop cs4 exam prep there was like 600 and something?? most of these companies say that there prep kits feature 95% of the material required to pass the exam so looking at this it would be easier to pass the cs5 exam than the cs4 exam?
as i've never taken one of these exams before so this makes me think that the exams are only based on new features with the version of the software not a complete overview of the software.
is this right? or do they just not put it in the prep material as they expect you to have learnt it all from the previous exams?
    very confusing.
    hope someone can help
    tom.

yea thats what i thought, thats the most sensible answer that they expect you to
    know it.
but... have you taken any of the them? would love to hear from someone thats taken a few, i wasn't even sure if i'd put this post in the right forum to be honest.
just seems odd why they say 95% of the material is in the prep stuff seems too easy.
i'd have thought that since the cs4 exam had that many more questions that the cs5 exam would have even more prep material but obviously not so.

  • Dreamweaver ACE certification exam

I would like to take the Dreamweaver ACE certification exam. Can you recommend study materials and practice exams. When will the Dreamweaver CS6 exam be available.

I'd recommend that you consider the practice exams from ExamAids - http://www.examaids.com.  I expect that the Dreamweaver one will be available within the next 2 months. Meanwhile, you can learn a great deal from the Adobe Dev center articles, and from reading this forum, for that matter.
Disclaimer - I am associated with ExamAids and have been responsible for the last several versions of the Dreamweaver exams.

  • ACE certification

    Dear wise one,
    I have a personal question.
If I want to prepair myself to do the test for ACE certification, will it be enought if I study and practice all available After Effects tutorials (at Lynda.com)?
Or will there also be truobleshooting questions? (since we are the technical support agents). If this is true, how can I prepair myself for such a test?
    Kindest regards
    Umed

The ACE exams require you to attend at least 1 or 2 praparation courses with other certified instructors, AFAIK, so just learning everything about AE you can find for free will not be enough. Anyway, just send an inquiry at the ACE pages here on Adobe.com, they can give you all the details. How useful it will be for you acting as technical advisors, is anotehr question. Aside from the fact that I simply don't have the money for ACE, I never felt the need for it. AE and I are on a first name basis anyway, and some sort of diploma or certificate will probably not add anything to that relationship.

  • After Effects CS5 ACE Certification ?

    Hello.
Not sure if this is the right forum to talk about, but can someone provide accurate information on when will be ready the CS5 Certification or Re-Certification, for After Effects and Premiere?
Right know there are only a few products with available CS5 ACE "Re" and Certication, but the main exams are mostly still on CS4. Is this apparent delay normal, for releasing updated exams?
Thanks for your time, and have a great kickstart 2011 to all.
    Regards

It's published on the Adobe official page for the Certification List.
Each test and certification type has its proper value, from 50 dollars to 150 dollars.
I think the prices are fixed, being you a student or not.
    Check it on:

  • Does reading ACE certification study guides help me understand photoshop?

There are plenty of tutorials online teaching people how to do this and that; but for a newbie like me, the biggest problem is, I can follow the recipes, but most of the time, I don't understand the reason behind them. I have been wondering if these things would become more obvious and intuitive if I have a fundamental understanding of the tools first.
Adobe seems to give out certification exams.  I am just wondering if it would be helpful to buy a exam study guide and read it through (not necessarily going for the certification).  Has anyone done it?  What guide is the best? Or do these guides are just more advanced recipes without explaining anything either?

I would suggest that you look at Adobe Classroom in a Book Photoshop CS5, Adobe Press.
It does a good job of sharing the "why," almost as much as the "how." I feel that too many books, and tutorials skip the why, while only concentrating on the how. Many of the ACE questions come from the chapter review material, which is in Q&A form.
    Good luck,

  • ACE Compression Query

                       HI,
i have one query what the difference between compress default-method  ( deflate / gzip ), and if you can give an example when we can use deflate or gzip?
    Thanks

    Hi,
GZip is just a wrapped set of headers around deflate.
Deflate includes a few small headers such as any initial data that will get better compression always, the compression rate (none/normal/best), etc. Deflate also includes an Adler32 checksum at the end.
GZip adds some additional headers to the start (algorithm always deflate anyway), file name etc and a CRC32 checksum to the end. This means that deflate will always be slightly faster (less to initialise, no CRC32 checksum) and save you a few bytes (no GZip headers) just the deflate headers that are inside the GZip headers for GZip compression anyway).
Now you need to see what is client coming with in "ACCEPT-ENCODING". If client comes with both GZIP/DEFLATE then ACE uses the configured method. Example below from TS guide.
    policy-map type loadbalance first-match L7_COMP_SLB_POLICY
      class L7default-compression-exclusion-mime-type_CLASS
        serverfarm SFARM1
      class class-default
        serverfarm SFARM1
        compress default-method deflate policy-map type loadbalance first-match L7_COMP_SLB_POLICY
      class L7default-compression-exclusion-mime-type_CLASS
        serverfarm SFARM1
      class class-default
        serverfarm SFARM1
        compress default-method deflate --------------->Configured method
Both methods are supported and good and generally "Deflate" is considered to be better because of less overhead and as a result less bytes. I don't have examples when to use which.

  • Oracle 11g Certification Query

    Hi all,
I have given my Oracle 11g exams for OCP certification. Now, i need to take one of the mandatory training to fulfill the requirements for certification. I am in Kuwait and when i select the country as Kuwait, the cheapest training course is of $1230. I am an indian, so when i select the country as India on the oracle site, the price reduces down to $540 for the same course. This is for the Live Virtual Class (LVC) rates. Can i book the LVC with India as country. Do I have to be present in India for the LVC training or only taking a course is compulsion.
    Kindly advice.

  • WCF certification query

    Hi there,
I wanted to ask whether the following material is still applicable to prepare for Exam 70-513:
MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-503): Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5—Windows® Communication Foundation
Is there a reason why this hasn't been updated yet? Can anyone suggest alternative materials that Microsoft have?
I only found few examples on the MSDN forum. Currently i am reading WCF book that was written by a third party.
Secondly, do candidates get informed what the format of the exam will be on day of the exam? Or do they not get informed about the exam format at all?
    Kind Regards,

Thanks for the link.I clicked on the link and it states the following:
Credit towards certification: Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified Professional
    Developer (MCPD)
Does that mean if i complete the course i won't get a certificate? Also does it mean i have to pass several exams to achieve MCTS or MCPD?
