ACE FTP issues with "inspect ftp"
Hello.
My clients want to access an FTP server, via ACE, and I am having some issues. They can login and issue only one command... the second command will not be accepted an after a few seconds the prompt shows the message "connection closed by remote host".
I have sniffed traffic and I see that the connection between the client and the ACE has a strange behaviour because ACE open connection to data using an source port of 1039 (it should be 20, since we are usind an active mode client); between the ACE and the real server runs in active mode (I see normal ftp-data packets).
Other strange thing is that I have FWSM and they let traffic pass from ACE to client (they should expect traffic comming from port 20 and not 1039)
I am doing source NAT and ACE is doing all the necessary changes on source IP adresses.
Anyone has seen similar behaviour?
Any help would be appreciated.
In attach I send my config and traffic sniffing.
Thanks in advance.
Joao Ribau
P.S. - client is 10.1.44.98; VIP is 10.1.9.150; real server 10.1.36.124
Hello.
I didn´t mentioned this before but the gateway of all my networks is an ACE that is loadbalancing traffic to two firewall clusters. I think this is not important because I have a "catch all" VIP in all my interfaces; I assume that ACE forwards traffic with no restrictions or inspections leaving the inspection job to the firewalls and to the ACE that I use to load balance services.
Don´t think this could be the problem but just to make sure I decided to post it.
Best regards,
Joao Ribau.
P.S. - my configs on the ACE that loadbalance traffic to the firewalls are very straightforward. Serverfarms (interfaces of the firewalls), a class-map with a "catch-all" VIP, policy-map to for the serverfarm, a policy-map to tie the class to the serverfarm and finally a service-policy apllied to each interface.

FTP Server with WEB FTP function
Hi,
which is the best solution for a FTP Server with WEB FTP Service?
kind regards
PieroNo, I am not running this solution at a corporate level; I'm just using this one for home use by maybe a dozen people. At any rate, I looked around for several and this one seemed to work best for me. Here's some others I checked into. I did use PFPFileNavigator before I found AjaXplorer. I went with AjaXplorer because I liked the interface better and it has LDAP support.
PHPfileNavigator
http://pfn.sourceforge.net/
Relay
http://ecosmear.com/relay/
Mollify --- Probably the most "Mac looking" one
http://www.mollify.org/
QuiXplorer
http://quixplorer.sourceforge.net/
eXtplorer
http://extplorer.sourceforge.net/
Rumpus
http://www.maxum.com/Rumpus/HomePage.html
BarracudaDrive Web Server
http://barracudaserver.com/products/BarracudaDrive/
I hope this gives you some ideas. I spent about a week Googling, installing, and testing before settling on AjaXplorer. I tried PHPFileNavigator (but didn't have LDAP support, other than that I liked it), Rumpus (didn't like this as it is commercial, and, uses it's own built-in web server), Relay (not enough features), and Mollify (again, no LDAP support).

Having issues with Simple FTP configuration
I am attempting to set up FTP behind this new CISCO ASA 5510 we just bought. I haven't configured a cisco device in 5 years, so I am having issues., i think i am close, but need a little help to get me over the hump. If I FTP from outside (fixed) IP it connects and takes the password but hangs on PASV and gives no data connection below is my configuration. Can anyone help? I am hoping it is simple since I seem to have the connection inside correct. and yes you can connect to the FTP server from inside without issue.

Issues with Seeburger FTP adapter
Can one of you with Seeburger FTP adapter experience share some information on these issues I'm facing
1. Do I need to setup resource management in Seeburger workbench. If so, do I need to configure, resource, server and reservations. Do you have more information and what parameters I need here.
2. In the Seebuger FTP adapter, I have
Module Key - exit
Parameter Name - JNDIName
Paramter Valu - deployedAdapters/SeeXIFTP/shareable/SeeXIFTP
JNDIName, should I be replacing this with some other name. I'm trying to get Seeburger FTP to work and in the messaging monitor, I see the message as passed to Module Processor but it does go anywhere from there.
Can one you throw some light on this subject...what to expect from this definition.
Thank you for all your replies,
ParimalaI'm resending this since I did not have any luck with it the first time.
We also have an oss note waiting to be responded on this subject.
When I send messages using Seebuger FTP adapter, I see the following information in the SAP message monitor -
"Message entered module processor exit bean and will be transferred to JCA adapter".
But does not get to IBM VAN mailbox. How do I trace from this point onwards.
Should I use Seeburger monitoring tool for this? If so, I don't see anything in Seeburger monitoring (used all criteria).
Please let me know if you have any information on this subject.
Thanks,
Parimala -
Issue with Native FTP on IronPort WSA S670 when using FileZilla
Hi All,
I am using IronPort as Proxy in Explicit Forward Mode.
Currently there is an issue related to Native FTP. When we use FileZilla to access an FTP server, it does not work. If we try bypassing the proxy it does work without any issue. Also, FTP over HTTP works well throuhg Proxy.
We tried with Checkpoint authentication and Raptor authentication formats but to no avail. The configuration seems perfect as I have verified it agianst the Admin Guide. I have attached the same for reference.
In the logs it does say 'Allow' however I get the below error in FileZilla:
Status: Using proxy X.X.X.X:8021
Status: Connecting to X.X.X.X:8021...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 Test
Command: USER *******@X.X.X.X:2021
Response: 331 User name okay, need password.
Command: PASS *******
Response: 421 Service not available, closing control connection.
Error: Could not connect to server
The proxy details are as follows:
Model: S670
Version: 7.1.4-053
I would really appreciate if anyone could assist me with this issue.
Thanks in advance
FaizHi Faiz,
Please take a look at the following KB
Article #1401: How do I enable native FTP proxy on FileZilla? Link: http://tools.cisco.com/squish/4Ed0c
If authentication is not enabled, you need to use one of the following configurations depends on your current FTP proxy authentication format settings.
Native FTP FileZilla configuration without authentication and using "Check Point" authentication
USER %u@%h
PASS %p
or
Native FTP FileZilla configuration without authentication and using "Raptor" authentication
USER %u@%h%u
PASS %p
ACCT %p
Hope it helps.

Hi All,
When i tried to send the file to other FTP server with host name i am getting below error.
Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool: com.sap.aii.af.lib.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled
resource: UnknownHostException: ftp.kms.telnet.vector.com.
But i am able to send the file successfully using IP address.
Can anyone pls suggest if any additional settings needs to be done in file adapter.
Or any other setting needs to be taken care.
Please advise.
Thannks,
SwethaHi,
Basis people are not aware of adding in host file, for that reason i am asking input here.
My XI ssytem runs on OS level i.e on AS400.
Basis team tried to reach host file by mapping into server, but they are unable to find host file. Do i need to ask OS level expert to add entry in host file.
For my knowledge, can you pleae give me the path of host file at OS level if you have any idea.
Please advise
Thanks,
Swetha -
FTP issues with DW CS5 that don't happen with an FTP client or MX
On a mac OS 10.6.4, using DW CS5 to login to an existing site using FTP. It connects fine but then all I get is a .txt file with a note indicating that FTP can't be used when Frontpage extensions are activated. I checked on my webserver status (at 1&1) and they aren't active. So I tried with an FTP client like cyberduck and all the files are there. Likewise, I used an old version of DW (think it was MX vintage 2002) and all the files show up server side just fine - (I just can't download the site due to version incompatibility so DW rejects it). Does anyone know what could be going wrong here? As far as I know the site was created by DWMX (think that was 2004). Thanks
I assumed that if I was using an older version of DW then it wouldn't download pages authored with a later version but I guess it's just code...
Yep - it's just text files containing HTML, CSS, javascript, and links to other files.
When using FTP through DWMX I see the server side of the site
You can see the files listed on the remote server?
I can send you the details if you wish, I'm not sure what's going on here...
You can try sending to forums at domain dot com (replace 'domain' with 'great-web-sights') -
FTP Issues with Leopard.
Ok. This is bugging the crap out of me, so hopefully someone will have some ideas!
Whenever I open a ftp connection to my website (hosted with network solutions) and try to transfer a file, the connection times out. I can do everything else on the FTP server (delete, rename, etc.), but I cannot transfer. I have tried OneButton FTP, Fetch, the terminal FTP command, everything. Leopard's firewall is open, my router firewall is open, my cable modem is in bridge mode, etc, etc. I have a PC laptop on the same network that has absolutely no problem connecting and transferring to my website using FTP. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!I'm glad I found this post... I just got off the phone with my ISP this evening because I thought it was an upload problem with them, but it seems that I only experience problems uploading with my MBP. This happens with Dreamweaver, through Firefox or Safari while attempting to upload video to YouTube or to Blogspot, and using the Flickr Uploadr or Flickr through the browser. I was able to upload the same file through DOS on my XP machine without a problem. I am operating on a wireless network with a Netgear router, but this happens on other wired and wireless networks with the same MBP. I haven't always had this problem with this machine - just the past month or so. Just thought I'd give my experience and a bump.
Thanks. -
Production Issue with Receiver FTP Adapter
Hi all,
We have so many interfaces with ECC To FTP via XI, working fine.
We had problem with one particular Interface, FTP Owner is saying that we did not received any files since last night for this interface. But that receiver channel's log is saying clearly that file has been written to folder with given name.
Nearly 140 files needs to be received at FTP site. Suddenly they told that received all 140 files at a time with time all with stamp 11:40am
What might be the cause for this?? has any one faced this kind of issues??
Please share your thoughts
Regards
SumanHi rajesh,
Thnx for replying, there is no receiver channel on scheduled
Receiver communication channel time stamp is showing as same as time ecc generated with idoc.
But received at FTP is different time( more time difference)
Checked with FTP Admin, and there is no issues or downtime with FTP at that time.
>>use messaging system and search with message id for knowing this step time stamp.
How to check this, please let me know the link.

Have a 4400N wireless router, which has the current firmware & IPS signatures loaded on it. A client wants me to exchange some files with them via their FTP site. I am able to connect to the FTP site, but the upload & download or files is extremely slow. I have a Mediacom cable modem coming into my 4400N router, my laptop in this scenario is connected with a wired connection.
Funny thing, I reboot the router and then as soon as it comes up I connect to FTP site and upload/download is very fast, speed I would expect all the time. Then I disconnect from FTP, come back hours later or next day and FTP speeds are extremely slow again. Reboot router and connection is fast again. My browsing speed and e-mail download speed is solid all the time, and very quick. Appears that only FTP is affected by this router reboot.
Not sure why this is. Any ideas or explanations?I'm also having issue's but I'm unable to upload anything at all. Even a tiny .html file with about 5kb, will time out when performing this step "commmand: STOR index.html, reply: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection." A few kb are transferred, sometimes more sometimes less but never enough for the whole file.
I opened all ports, I tried different programs, I know everything should work anyway as I can access the ftp at university or every other internet connection but at home it wont do.
Are you honestly telling me the top notch router from linksys isnt able to perform ftp uploads -
FTP issues with Dreamweaver CC v 13.0
Hello,
I've been having multiple problems with DW using ftp. I've been using DW since it was a Macromedia product, and am familiar with server settings. etc.
The biggest issue comes from my using DW at work and also at home. I make changes at work, then when working from home I try to 'get' a particular folder so I have the updated code, and DW fails as follows:

... and so on
These errors occur from Mac computers running 10.7 and 10.8 which connect to different ISP's, and I am working with the hosting company to see if there are issues there, but just now I made a change to a file and tried to upload it. DW failed multiple times.
I work with, say, entry.php, live on site. I want to rename my local file to entryR0 and the use save as but the file does not get uploaded to the site, only locally, I then have to add a space or something so I can use Save, then maybe the file is uploaded.
I have Transmit, which works flawlessly, but I don't want to stop my workflow to use it for one file.
Any and all suggestions are gratefully welcomed!
Thanks in advance. Thanks for your reply Srivatsa. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
I am posting two items; the FTP log from when I launch DW then connect to the remote server, and the background file activity info which resulted when I just now tried to get the meals folder files which I changed at work.

Fetch / Cyber Duck / Transmit FTP issue with Lion
Since upgrading to Lion I've been having an odd issue. When I attempt to connect to a certain client's FTP server I cannot see folders that reside on that machine. The first time I connected with each of those apps I could see and interact normally with their folder structure. In subsequent connections this is not the case. I'm able to connect to the server without issue.
Side note: I'm able to connect with iDisk and another FTP server I have and this issue works flawlessly.
Anyone have thoughts / ideas for how to remedy?
ThanksI have exactly the same problem with Cyberduck. First the connection works then a couple of weeks later it quits working without touching the connection protocols. I have the right User ID and password but it won't connect with File Zilla either.
A couple of other ftp connections weren't working either. They had things like the user ID and the IP address changed but I don't know how this could happen as I certainly didn't do it. These ones are now working again. -

We have one server where all users are (for some reason) able to use FTP to not only read, but write files to their desktops. I have logged in as two different uses. Both users have read-only rights on the folders I am accessing, but they can browse the folders and copy items straight to their desktop as if they have read and write access. For the time being, I have turned off FTP on the server because I do not know why the OS is behaving this way. Any ideas? Thanks for your input. As well, the users are not in any groups if that helps.
I don't understand the question - users should be able to read/write their own home directory, regardless of the method they use to connect (e.g ssh, FTP, AFP, etc.).

Hi All,
We are seeing an issue with the FTP Adapter Communication Channel in SAP PI 7.1. When the communication channel is connecting to a FTP Server and if the connection request timeout ( ex: SFTP Server down ) we see a connection error .
However the overall communciation channel status doesnot refelct it and it is still in GREEN status. The status being wrong doesnt raise an adapter CCMS alert. Also we are seeing that the communication channel stops all connection attempts after the failure for that communication channel.
Wanted to check if anyone has seen or encountered the issue and how did you get past the problem.
Thanks in advance..
ArunavaHi,
Could you please let me know whether it is sender communication channel or receiver ?
Also please check below.
1. Java messaging system queues are free or hanged ?
2. Please mention time out paramter in the channel.
3. Did you try Start/Stop the channel.
Please get back to me.
Regards,
Sachin
