Acrobat 3D- PDF's in Flash

It's in my biggest interest to let my users view my 3d-models using Flash Player, while maintenancing the interactivity. Is this possible to do?
Benefits:
1) "Everybody's got Flash Player installed"
2) You can embed an interactive 3D-model direct into a webpage.
As far as I know, you can't embed a pdf into a webpage like you can with a swf.
- Jon

Displaying a 3D viewport via Flash Player is not going to happen yet. Although FP10 is promoted as having "3D features" it's strictly a 2.5D kernel - there's no internal concept of Z-space, just perspective and rotation arrays to make it look like there is. Dropping a U3D or OBJ into a Flash timeline would be nice, but you'll have to wait.
Meanwhile, Acrobat 9 can do it perfectly happily, and R9 penetration is quite good - not as deep as FP, but it's a different demographic. People who use the Web for CAD-type business will almost certainly have it, but a kid surfing for games may not. It's also extremely simple to handle legacy visitors to a page with embedded 3D PDF content; we've been doing it since 8.5 launched and our server logs currently run at around 65% having R9 on arrival, and 15% installing it and coming back.
There are other 3D browser plugins and OS applets such as Right Hemisphere's Deep View, but in general visitors get the point of installing R9 as they've heard of Adobe. Pushing them to another install, however good and safe it may be, is far harder if they don't recognize the name. You also have the advantage that it's a lot more work to drag your original model out from a PDF, whereas some of the third-party viewers simply push the raw mesh file to the visitor.

  • How do I open the Special Edition Acrobat X PDF Portfolio themes?

I chose these themes as my complimentary benefit when I installed Acrobat X, and downloaded the ZIP file to my hard drive without incident.  I then extracted the files within the ZIP file.  However, when I open Acrobat, and attempt to import the four themes, my browser won't recognize that the files are there - and I have no option to search for "All Files" or otherwise change the three-letter extension.
Am I going about this the wrong way?
    Tom

In Acrobat X PDF Portfolios there are two levels of "templates" to customize the style of the document interface.
A Layout (internally called a "navigator") has the file extension .NAV and controls the layout of the Portfolio, the way the cards animate, where the scrollers are, and so forth. Layouts are written in Flex.
A Theme is a SWF file "skin" which is applied over the top of a Navigator - this is what's in the Special Edition pack. Standalone Themes are usually drawn in Flash Pro or Illustrator, and contain no code. They're simply a collection of graphics with pre-defined symbol names.
To apply a Theme, create/open a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro, and from the Edit Pane, choose Visual Themes -> Import Custom Theme, and select the SWF. It will be embedded into the PDF Portfolio, but won't be permanently-added to the Acrobat panes. Themes can be applied to almost any Layout, but each time you change the Layout your theme will be reset.
There's a detailed video explaining how all these things work on AUC.

  • Displaying PDF in Flex/Flash

Is there a way to display a PDF document within a Flex
application without launching the Adobe Acrobat Reader? Just
    thought...Adobe...PDF...

AFAIK, there is no PDF solution for Flash. Macromedia was a
recent acquisition by Adobe and I don't think they've had time to
integrate the technologies. Rumour has it that there'll be a
combined PDF/Flash viewer at some point, but who knows...

  • Acrobat portfolio pdf wrapper lost when viewed in tablets (ipad, android)

    Hello,
Is there a way to keep the acrobat portfolio pdf wrapper when you view it in a tablet?. I just can see the list of pdf´s but loose the nice wrapping.
    Thanks for your advice,
    Paloma

The Portfolio navigators in a PDF are written in Flash, which does not work on the iPad, and which Adobe has recently stopped developing for Android. So we will not be able to add support for PDF Portfolio nagivators in the future. We may be able to make a nicer way to list the documents than we currently do, however.

  • PDF Saved As Flash

Is it posible to save your pdf as a flash file...?

There are a couple of products that'll convert basic "text and images" PDF pages to SWF, but they can't handle anything complicated like layers, video, 3D, forms, scripting, etc.
Acrobat doesn't have an "export to SWF" option, and is unlikely to ever introduce one given the limitations of SWF over PDF. You're better off exporting a SWF from the original application where possible (e.g. from InDesign).

    '''Problem Solved FINALLY !'''
    Solution:
I just updated my '''Adobe Acrobat X Pro''' to '''Version 10.1.0'''.By the way, I have to complain, Adobe is really slow in solving this problem...
Here is the official link for the Adobe Acrobat update.[http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135 <click me!>http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135<click me!>]
After update, the extention changed from "Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0" into "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1". And the '''"Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1" is compatiable with the firefox 4.0.1'''. A screenshot is attached as a proof.

I am able to use Acrobat using a wireless router.
    Try the following:
Get the latest update from Manufacturer. Then go to printer setup utility and remove the current version. ( Do this anyway even if the same version).
Next plug Printer into a direct USB Connection. Now install Driver. Go back to Printer Setup Utility. and add Printer.
Now print a document, to verify printer works.
Now quit application, then shut down Computer.
Now switch usb printer connector from USB connector on computer to USB connector on your router.
    Restart Computer.
Now open an application that uses a printer and open a document. go to Printer and Look for the Following:
Disregard the printer I have listed here that's my printer. If you see a Printer like this add to list by choosing the printer.
Now go to Printer Setup verify it has been added. Make it the Default printer.
Now Acrobat "should" be able to print from you printer.
(Please note information is given by an Experienced User of Acrobat. I am not an employee of Adobe.)

I have the same problem for a couple of months, and I had to use a plug-in in Firefox to print a web page. I really need the web page address in the footer for reference purposes which Chrome print (Ctrl+P) does not produce.
The error message is: A supported version of Acrobat could not be found. Please install or update Acrobat to 11.0.9 or higher."
After updating to Acrobat 11.0.10 and repairing the installation the problem did not go away.
Deleting and re-installing the extension did not help either.

  • How to export to acrobat 9 pdf file to acrobat 5 pdf file ?

    Hello,
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended
while exporting acrobat 9 pdf file to PDF/X( to open it on earlier version)
    it is giving following message
"The document has been saved, however , it could not be converted according to the selected standard profile: Convert to PDF/X.
Please use Preflight with the profile 'Convert to PDF/X' in order to identify those properties of the document which prevent it
from being compliant to this profile."
when opening this converted document to Acrobat 5.0
    it is giving following error
"There was an error while opening this document the file is damaged and could not be repaired.".
    Please help me.
    Thanks

You mention PDF/X. Have you tried to convert it to one of the other Acrobat standards? As I recall, AA5 does not have PDF/X as an option (at least it is not in my list for AA5). That is likely the problem that you are being told to fix. It suggests using PreFlight to fix that issue and then possibly save the PDF to version AA5.

  • How to auto-fill data into Acrobat 9 PDF created from scanned paper form/document

    Hello,
I am new to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.  I have scanned a paper form/document that
originally  had various data lines to be written on using an ink pen.  I saved
the scanned PDF as an Acrobat 9 PDF.  I have added various pertinent text fields
and checkboxs to PDF form and saved it with appropriate extended setting to
allow end-user to type on PDF and save a copy.  At the bottom form there is a
name/signature text field for end-user name to be typed and a calendar text date
when name/signature text field is entered .
I need to send this PDF form to various end-users using (Groupwise/Novell) email
to have them sign or type their name and date at bottom of form.  Is there a way
that Adobe Acrobat 9/PDF will recognize the email sender and allow the
name/signature field to automatically fill-in signature/name textbox.  Are there
tools like javascript, etc. that will help me accomplish this task?
I don't know where to begin. I am a newbie.  Please help!
