Acrobat 7: Warning 20225- Setup unable to create PDF Port Printer

I had to replace my computer and I am trying to install Acrobat 7 Pro on Windows 7. I read a comment that said it's not compatible, but others say it can work.  Since Adobe closed the activation server for CS2 & Acrobat 7, Adobe tech support gave me the link for the non-activating version of the exe file and new serial #. I was successful at installing CS2. Acrobat says the installation is successful and I am able to open Acrobat but at the end of install I got the Warning 20225: Setup unable to create a new item- Adobe PDF Port Printer. I tried to uninstall and change compatibility to XP, SP3 which is what my previous computer ran on, but still get same error every time. I don't use most the features of Acrobat so it doesn't make sense for me to buy a new version. Mostly, I just need to be able to print files to pdf (from Word, Illustrator, web). Any ideas of how to get this part working?

Thank you so much, Mylenium. I'm not sure if I'm setting up the printer right so please let me know where I am making errors.  I clicked "add a printer" and when it asks to choose a port, I left it as "use existiing port" and selected "File: Print to file". In the window to choose a printer, I clicked "Have Disk" and browsed to one of the .inf files (I ran a search in the Acrobat folder and found four .inf files shown below. I don't know which to use so tried each one)  but each time got the error message on the second screen shot below.
Do you know if there is a newer driver that is compatible with Windows 7?

  • Acrobat 8 can't locate scanner to create PDF from printed document using OCR

    Hello,
I have an Epson scanner that is my default scanner on my OSX (10.6).  Every program I have locates my scanner perfectly except Acrobat 8.0.  Is there something I can do?
From the home dialogue box I click "Create PDF from Scanner".  The next dialogue box opens and the Tab "Please Select a Device" doesn't let me scroll to find my scanner.  So the scan button is greyed out and I can't do anything.  Is there something I can do to make Acrobat clearly find my scanner?
    -Luis

Check to see if they have a Native (not universal Binary) Twain Driver. Adobe refuses to allow universal Binary Twain Drivers in their programs.
Either use a Software package from the SANE/TWAIN Project. (look up on Google). Or use a Pakage Like SilverFast.
Before downloading the SANE/Twain Driver you have to look and see if the have a package for your current  OS  and for your particular Scanner. Stayaway from the SDK's unless your a Programer.
Then when you install all the pieces and set up open Acrobat and go to document Create PDF from Scanner choose SANE/Twain. Should be able to scan with it.
If you use SliverFast it is a standalone package  Just scan and save as a PDF then open in Acrobat.  or save as a Tiff or jpeg. Acrobat hasn't worked with a scanner since Macs went from OS9  to OSX.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro now unable to create pdf files

Been using Acrobat 8 for well over a year.  Installed new release of AutoCAD 2012, now unable to create pdf files from AutoCAD or MS Office programs.  Can anybody help?

You may still want to at least give a repair a shot. Won't hurt and sometimes customer suport (I assume you mean Adobe customer support?) will miss some things. I believe in your version you can find it under the Help menu.

  • Unable to create pdf files after upgrade to acrobat dc, acrobat crashes

Since I just upgraded to Acrobat DC I am not able to create PDF files any more. Whatever program I tried, the PDF-printing process always crashes. Deinstallation and reinstallation does not help in any way. Even worse, there is no option to install any former version of Adobe Acrobat through the Creative Cloud App. Any office or CAD software from which I am trying to print also totally stucks from the PDF printing process. I am a freelancer and have some urgent deadlines tomorrow, so the last thing I need right now is trouble with my pdf-printer. Any help is highly appreciated. (Windows 7 Professional, HP ZBook 15 Mobile Workstation).

For those of you who are Creative Cloud members and are facing the same problem, this is the way to reinstall Acrobat XI Pro (you will not find this option within the Creative Cloud App):
    1. Make sure you uninstalled Acrobat DC.
    2. Log in with your account data on https://creative.adobe.com
    3. Go to https://creative.adobe.com/de/products/acrobat
    4. Choose Acrobat XI Pro from the dropdown menu and click the download button.
    5. An event handler will ask you in a popup window if you want to open the link within the Adobe Creative Cloud App. Choose CreativeCloud(URIHandler) from the list and hit okay.
    6. The Download will now apear in the Apps list of the Creative Cloud App and can be installed by hitting the Install button.
Took me some time to figure that out and I would prefer to use the latest Acrobat version. But as long as Acrobat DC causes my other applications to crash, Acrobat XI Pro will do the job.

  • Reinstalling adobe acrobat 7 prof after upgrading OS but fails create pdf port

Used download manager to reinstall adobe acrobat 7 professional after upgrading OS to windows 7. Install ends but fails with error "Warning 20225. Adobe Acrobat 7.0.5 set up was unable to create a new item Adobe PDF Port & Printer". Adobe is installed but I can no longer print to pdf nor use Adobe directly to create pdf from file. This feature was available before this reinstallation.
    How do I fix this?

    Hi myee.somers,
Acrobat 7 is a 32-bit application and while it can successfully be installed on a 64-bit machine using SysWOW64 (which enables 32-bit apps to work on 64-bit machines), there are some known limitations. One of those known limitations is that 32-bit printer drivers will not work on 64-bit machines.
So you can install the main Acrobat 7 application, but you won't be able to installer the Adobe PDF Printer Driver.

Even in the 64-bit versions of Windows XP  the Acrobat 7 printer driver was not supported.

  • Unable to create PDF from scanner

My office uses a Canon iR-Advance C5035. I previously had a computer that was running an older version of Windows (XP, I think) and Adobe Acrobat Standard (6, maybe), and I was able to create PDFs with the scan function on the Canon.
This year we bought a new computer that is running Windows 8. I just purchased and installed Acrobat Standard XI, but I am unable to create PDFs using the Canon scanner. I keep getting a "Either scanner driver is not installed or scanner is not connected." error. When I look at the "Custom scan" option, the Canon doesn't even seem to be detected. I'm not sure how to address this problem and any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
    -Paul

Look under Control Panel>System>Hardware to see if the scanner appears. If not, then try Add Hardware (or whatever the option is in Win8) to install the driver (if available from Win8). If the cannon is on a network, you may have to go to additional steps to install it since the OS may not see it. The idea of looking for a new driver is also a good idea since Win8 (just like happened with Win7) is not shipped with a lot of the drivers.

  • I am unable to create pdf using adobe printer to a redirected folder on a server running windows server 2003

I am unable to create pdf using adobe printer to a redirected folder on a server running windows server 2003

In the app-server-ant.xml file, as indiacted in the error message i am getting, at line 145 it is suppose to get the path to \bin\asadmin.bat from the value of a paramater called 'asadmin'. This value is being set in the beginning of the file.
The parameter value of 'asadmin' is further referring to value of another parameter called 'javaee.home' which is being set in tut-install/javaeetutorial5/examples/bp-project/build.properties
I have checked the values of both these parameters and they are set correctly, so since it is still giving me problems, at line 145 i hard coded the path instead of the parameter name:
    I replaced line
    <exec executable="${asadmin}" failonerror="${failonerror}" dir="${javaee.home}">
    with
    <exec executable="c:/sun/appserver/bin/asadmin.bat" failonerror="${failonerror}" dir="${javaee.home}">
    This works.

  • Unable to create PDF files from any application in any Acrobat version

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me find a solution to a problem I am having creating PDF files.
I have searched the Internet for a solution to this problem and can't find any information that helps me.
I am running OSX 10.8.5 on a 2.5 GHZ Intel i5 Mac Laptop
I cannot create PDFs from any program, Quark, Word, ect.
When I try to print to the PDF printer, the printer pauses when it tries to open the Distiller. When I click resume, it pauses itself again.
I have tried to save the document and create the PDF from within the distiller itself and get this error log:
    %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: MMXPR3 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
I was originally using Acrobat 8, But I installed the trial version of Acrobat 11 and it has the same problem.
The problem seems to be something to do with the distiller. I have a lot of Adobe software so I am trying to avoid a clean/re-install of Adobe software but will do it as a last resort.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Unable to create pdf's in Excel since Acrobat updated 23rd April 2010

Since Acrobat updated this morning myself and several colleagues are no longer able to create pdf's in Microsoft Excel.
    Using Excel 2003 SP3 and Acrobat pro 9 V9.3.2
The excel file to be pdf'd includes text boxes, graphics and the usual spreadsheet data.
    I have restarted etc...
Has anyone else had this problem? Know of a workaround?
    Many thanks,
    Matt

I have not had the problem, but how are you trying to produce the PDF for those that might be able to answer the question. There are several methods and the answer may depend on your answer. Also, can you not create one at all, or is it that either PDF Maker or the Adobe PDF printer do not work?

  • Unable to create PDF from dwg Files

    Hi All,
I suspect this question is old hat but if anybody can provide a solution it would be greatly appreciated. Acrobat 8.3.0 professional edition Windows XP sp3.
It used to work a long time ago but when I try to convert a dwg to PDF the message "An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF". I looked at the "create PDF" options in preferences and only security options are shown for Autocad files so I know something is amiss.
I have tried adding a printer using the ini file in the xtras folder in Acrobat and when I look at printing preferences (before and then after the install) all the boxes are blank - again an indication something is wrong?
I have tried the repair function in the control panel - still no good.
Any (polite) suggestions other than buying X?
    Many thanks

Interestingly, "PDFMOUTLOOK" is apparenly related to PDF Maker for Outlook. It has also been suggested to be Malware (not good). That would suggest you may have some corruption. I am not saying you do, but just what is hinted at by a web search.
In terms of the printing process. The Adobe PDF printer creates a PS file. With Acrotray active, this PS file causes Acrotray to activate Distiller in the background and complete the conversion of the PS file to PDF. That is the basic conversion process used by Acrobat to create PDF files. Distiller is always in the picture, it just may be running in the background. If Acrotray is not active, the process will stall. Since you are seeing a Distiller log screen, your process seems to be working.
PDF Maker is basically a preprocessor for the Adobe PDF printer. The preprocessor inserts PDF Marks into the PS file that is created to allow the conversion to PDF to include bookmarks, links, etc. My suggestion about PDF Maker (since the print process seems to work) is that there may be something in PDF Maker that is causing the problem. From the web search, it appears it may even be a virus type of aspect that hit your PDF Maker. Again, I am not saying that is the case, only suggesting it as a possibility. If you can create the PDF from the printer, then the basic process of creating PDFs is working and it is then a process of checking out the problems with PDF Maker. For that, I typically suggest turning all of the options off and then adding them back in to see what triggers the problem. You are basically in a trouble shooting mode and need to isolate the problem.

  • Unable to create PDF conversion file

I'm trying to convert to PDF a PPT presentation with my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro which I already installed some years back.  I never had any problems with it just of late.  It stopped being able to convert and so I uninstalled the program and installed it again.  Tried to use it but I keep getting this Error Message: Unable to create file.  Missing PDF maker files.  Would you like to repair the program (or something to that effect)?  I click YES, and go through the same long process but then again, it doesn't convert.  This makes it so frustrating.  I only installed the program on one computer.  What should I do?

    Acrobat Cleaner Tool
Run it, reinstall. Could still not work, though. Could simply be a security update in Acrobat or Windows/ Office that prevents this from working.
