  • Acrobat Hangs With Vista

Right now running Vista Business Premium (fully updated) and acrobat standard (8.1.1). We have some forms which we fill out then save as pdf's to print when needed. 99% of the time, when selecting addresses [from a drop down in the from] or a date acrobat just "hangs" and we have to do a manual shutdown (press and hold the power button) as the entire computer just hangs up and refuses to respond (even after letting it sit for a while)
I have no idea how to diagnose this problem, so any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a problem with Acrobat Pro in Vista hanging for 30-90 seconds then working OK for a while, then hanging repeatedly for 30-90 seconds. I have noticed that the error log in the roaming\adobe\acrobat\8.0 logging an error as follows when this happens:
080216 13:34:25 [Warning] Can't open and lock time zone table: Table 'mysql.time_zone_leap_second' doesn't exist trying to live without them
    080216 13:34:25 [ERROR] mysql_embedded: Can't find file: 'files.MYI' (errno: 2)
    080216 13:34:25 [ERROR] mysql_embedded: Can't find file: 'files.MYI' (errno: 2) . . .
Any ideas how to get this to stop?

  • Acrobat 9 in Vista

    Hi,
I tried to install Acrobat 9.1 in Vista and it got hung up. Now whenever I try to complete the install, repair the install or uninstall I get the following message:
Error 1500. Another installation is already in progress. Complete that install before proceeding with this installation
I have done what Acrobat tells me to do (modifications to registry) but its not working. Can someone please help? I broke down and purchased 9.1 because 8 worked so "wonderfully" (NOT) that I just had to get it in order to do anything.
    Thanks,
    Abbie

I was reading that I might have to give Windows/TEMP folder full-rights for the PDF conversion to work. I did that, but it is still a no go. I also tried to run Distiller 9.0 standalone (right-click Run As Administrator) once to see if it can create the temp folders itself, but no-go... How are other people running Acrobat 9 on Vista without problems?

    17. Restart if requested to do so.
This fix worked on Windows Vista Business Edition (32-Bit).

I have windows XP media center. I uninstalled Acrobat 8 to download Acr 9 pro extended. No adobe printer was installed .
Tried the steps given here by Steve Lionel. I was able to add the "Adobe PDF Converter" as printer. Although after the 7th step in Steve's fix, the wizard asked me to search for some files (from XP CDrom) which I was able to locate in the Windows folder-drivers folder and the system32-spool folder.
I went to acrobat, opened a pdf file and tried to print with this printer and saved it on the desktop. A file appears, but adobe cannot open it however it activates adobe illustrator and opens in that program.
Lots of time has gone. No solution yet.
    Appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks
    Update!!!
I tried printing on this printer from a webpage and it converted the webpage like charm.
I am more than happy even if I get to use this printer to convert webpages to pdf as now I don't have to install those shady pdf converters and printer drivers.
This is good as the fix given here works even for XP.
    Thanks for this wonderful solution.

  • Install acrobat 7 onto Vista laptop

I am trying to successfully install
the old acrobat 7 onto Vista laptop
but I end up with error messge - missing pdf maker files - when I try to use it.  Also the pdf icon does not appear in the excel icon display at the top of the screen. This Acrobat 7 has previously been installed on the office PC & runs successfully but I use the laptop more as I am more mobile these days.  I must be doing something wrong - would appreciate if anyone can advise.

    Hi,
Adobe Reader and Acrobat support for Vista started with the update patch for release 8 in early 2007.
    Adobe states:
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Acrobat 7.0 and earlier will not support Windows Vista.
Acrobat 7.0 and earlier will not support Office 2007 or Office 2007 files.

  • Acrobat Problem with Vista X64 OLE calls

Acrobat Problem with Vista X64 OLE calls - CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc") does NOT open its window in the CreateObject("AcroExch.App") - but opens a new (invisible) window. Works correctly in XP x64 and 32 bit Vista - happens with Acrobat v8 and v9.

Again, I contend that something changed between 8.1.2 and 8.1.3.
    refer to http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6fe7c
To show the viewer, use the show method after the document is opened.
In 8.1.2 you did not have to perform this extra step.

  • Acrobat 7 and Vista

I have read a number of reports of the problems people were having with acrobat 7 pro and vista so I thought I would report how I got it to work for me. My hardware is a new notebook running Vista Home Premium SP1 with all current updates. After installing off the original disk acrobat 7.0 would not start. I went to adobes site and downloaded the 7.09 update but when I ran it I got the message it could not find a program to update. Then I downloaded update 7.05 and it installed fine and the program worked without a hitch so I made a restore point in Vista. Acrobat started to update itself to version 7.10 and I decided to let it to see what would happen. After the update it opened fine and all the features I normally use work fine. Must say despite all my apprehensions Vista seems to be working fine for me. All my old programs are working including lots of specialty programs( marking, testing, cad) even my 7 year old version of autocad is working fine in wind 2000 compatibility mode. Crossing my fingers and hoping this continues.
    topryan

It may seem to work fine, but you will likely have problems along the way. The activation issue may be that you did not deactivate it from the previous systems before you installed VISTA. If that is the case, you may be out of install rights. If you still have the older systems, deactivate Acrobat there.
As mentioned, you may still not have luck with AA7 on VISTA. Acrobat may open fine, but most likely you will have to use the print to file feature when printing to the Adobe PDF printer (if it even installs - in that case use a PS printer and possibly rename it to Adobe PDF). You would then have to open the file in Distiller to get a PDF. To automate the process a bit in such a case, you can set the printer port to file, rather than PDF Port. If it works without such changes, you are lucky. Even with the changes it may not work correctly. Good luck.

  • Trying to install Acrobat on a Vista laptop, but can't find the installation icon in the Adobe Application Manager

Hi, trying to get Acrobat installed on my Vista laptop but can't seem to find an icon for it in the Adobe Application manager.  I have a CC license and it installs fine on my Win7 but can't seem to figure out how to install it on my Vista laptop.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Normally if something does not appear in the download options it means the machine does not meet the tech specs for the product.  In this case, Vista is not in the tech specs for Acrobat Pro XI if that is what you are trying to install.  For whatever reason it skips from XP to Windows 7.

  • Can't download and install Acrobat on Windows Vista

    Hey there,
I hope that someone could help me. I bought a subscription for Adobe Acrobat yesterday evening. Now I tried to download the software from this page: https://cloud.acrobat.com/acrobat. And it failed - saying that "i don't have the right language or platform / stage" - . But I checked the standards on my computer before. I got Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (they say i need minimum Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3). Central processing unit, Hard Disc and RAM are also ok.
So - I really don't know what to do right now - sitting here since hours trying to make it work.
    Thanks for your help,
    Monika

Thanks a lot for your answer. But: What the fxxxxx - that is really one of the worst offer of a service I've ever seen. So I have to check if I could update or "downgrade" my Computer System. Otherwise I have to cancel my order.
    Wish you a good Sunday.

  • Acrobat XI and Vista 64

Has anyone successfully installed Acrobat XI on a Vista 64 system?  The system requirements do not list Vista 64 as a compatible OS.  Thank you.

While Microsoft Vista is not a supported operating system, many users have successfully installed Acrobat XI on it.  I would advise updating the OS to SP2 if you haven't done so already before installation.

  • Acrobat Pro 8, Vista and Office 2007 - No PDF printer available

    Hello,
I try to install Acrobat 8 Pro on a Vista professional based machine with office 2007 but I can't generate any PDF docs.
I try to install acrobat with my account (group administrator) or directly with the administrator account with the same result : no PDF virtual printer was created and it's impossible to add one using an existing PDF port or by creation of a new one.
I try to update my installation with the 8.10 update but no changes... Can someone help me with this issue ?
    Thank you.

Here is a more complete description of my problem and the things I have tried. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No pdf printer driver is installed. When I print from an Office 2007 saving as adobe pdf I get the following error message:
PDFMaker cannot locate the Adobe PDF Printers printer driver. Please re-install Adobe Acrobat 8.0.
The printer driver is in fact NOT installed. I look at the system printers and there is no PDF printer driver.
I have re-installed several times. I called support and they wont help me because I purchased a volume license and it will cost me $40 to get support.
I have searched user groups and Adobe knowledge bases to no avail.
I have tried to install the driver myself with the .inf files located in the dir C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF there are the following .inf files. None of them will install when I try to add a printer and select have disk and select any of them.
