Acrobat 9.4 / Outlook 2011 – Attach to email not working

Acrobat 9.4 / Outlook 2011 / OS 10.6.4
I am having a very annoying issue with the "Attach to email" feature in Acrobat 9.4. I keep getting the error below every time I try using this feature. I don't have the same problem if use/switch the email client Mail from Apple. Just wondering if this is an Adobe issue or a Microsoft issue.

Yes at one time Acrobat only supported Entourage, a ver obscure program called Mailsmith, and Eudora, and Apple Mail. (Eudora was taken over by Mozilla Or rather the R&D for it was handed over to Mozilla.)
Yet most everyone on apple side of equation use ThunderBird, SeaMonkey, Even Opera.  the message I receive is That Seamonkey or Thunderbird doesn't know how to talk to your email clent. Yet in their specifications Mozilla products show they are Mbox compliant.
On PC side they will talk to just about any Email except Mozilla Products. Its as if they put in features yet don't support software that can handle the features so most people are stuck un able to use the fetaures. Why can't Adobe get along with other software vendors. Is there Software Devopment staff so out of touch or have such a low skill set That they don't know how to write code but those name applications?
I put a Bug report for support of Mozilla Products for uears do it about once or twice a year for last 10 years or so. Goes in one ear and out the other.

    I've created a pdf document for users to fill out and then click a SUBMIT button which attaches the document to an email and sends it back to me.  It works great with Windows users, however, it fails to create an email for Mac users with Outlook 2011.  It opens the program but doesn't create an email.  I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.5
    Can someone please help in fixing this matter as there are people that use Macs.

    Yes the Acrobat PDFviewer Plug does nt work with anything but Safari on a Mac. In OS9 days it would work with any web Browser.
    But Adobe has decided That they will only support Webkit Browsers and refuses to support despite pleading with Adobe by people using Ecko based browsers. This leave more people unable to use the adobe PDFviewer plugin, than can. A fellow from Germany called Schubert has come up with a PDF Browser Plugin that can use any Browser Webkit or Gecko except Internet Explorer. The one caveat is that you can't fill out forms. And he is banned from putting that feature in, by Adobe.

    Hi All,
    I have Adobe Acrobat 9 and I am trying to attach a PDF to my email program which is the new Office 2011 - Outlook for Mac. Acrobat comes up with an error stating that "An error occurred while trying to create a mail document. Acrobat is unable to complete your request." - not sure what needs to be done here, Outlook is defined as my default email program. Initially it worked for Apple Mail, but I changed the default email program to Outlook once I installed Office.
    Is there a workaround for this? Any help would be grateful.

    Brady - I'm still not convinced - you've only repeated what has been tested before as regards clean install, etc and:
    C. I upgraded to Reader X and it didn't work with Outlook 2011.
    If it works between Reader X and Entourage 2008 then surely it has to be the Office 2011 update? However...
    AbhilashaSr and Phillip Jones in earlier posts state that Entourage and Outlook are two completely different programmes and that it's Adobe's fault. To some extent this is true as regards Reader X and Outlook compatability - Adobe have had years to prepare for the Office upgrade and should have supported it as an email client with the Reader X version. If they haven't done this for Reader X then it's pretty sure that they wouldn't also release an update to version 9 which affects me enormously. Microsoft should have stated though that the upgrade to Outlook 2011 would mean that ANY Adobe users would no longer be able to use this 'key' function in my opinion.
    I am totally unimpressed by either Adobe and/or Microsoft for this.
    I work on a Mac in a busy internal studio
    I have loads of data gathering forms in pdf format created in Quark, saved as pdf with fields and functions added in Acrobat Pro 9.
    These are posted online or stored on a sharepoint server and some are sent to external clients.
    Upgrading to Office 2011 means that these forms cannot be sent attched to emails.
    Upgrading to Acrobat X does not solve this problem.
    The company (500+ employees) is now having to reconsider whether to upgrade the PC version to Office 2010.
    If it came down to it they would ditch the Adobe method in preference to a product that works with Office - that is sure - it's a case of numbers.
    From a compliance point of view we are required by law to have a copy of every email and attachment - we can when the servers are ours - using any of Adobe's online solutions introduces extra dimensions that quite frankly the company won't accept - it also makes it harder than simply filling in a pdf form and clicking a button that says 'Submit'

    When i open a pdf-file and click "Attach to email.." nothing happens.
    It is the same Problem in Acrobat Reader 9.
    In all other applications send by email opens MS Outlook (my default Mailprg)

    Please post on the Office for Mac product forums that Microsoft hosts. It's their product and they can best troubleshoot the issue.

    @Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
    UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
    Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
    You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
    Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
    Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
    Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
    IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
    You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
    Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
    I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • Sharing by email not working in PSE10

    Hi there.  I upgraded from 6 to 10 yesterday and things were going relatively smoothly until I tried to email some attachments.  I'm operating on a Windows 7 computer and was trying to share via email attachments.  I select my photos and the contact that I want to send it to and then it just goes into limbo with the little moving circle.  One time the actual message box came up, but then my attachments were too big, so I reselected some and I haven't been able to get the message box to come up again.  Just been trying to do one picture as a test, so its not a size issue at this point.  With an old computer I used to do it through Outlook, but don't have that on here as it is a work computer and we use Notes, so I was using the Adobe Mail Services option tied to an email which did get verified.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Amy

    Thanks for trying, but what you have suggested did not work.  Every time I try to share photos via email, the software crashes.  This is extremely frustrating.  As far as I am concerned, this software has been a huge waste of time and money.

    1. Launch Organizer.
    2. Under 'edit' menu select 'edit->preferences->Adobe Partner services'.
    3. Click on 'clear online service data'. Press 'yes' followed by 'Ok' in coming dialogs.
    4. Close and launch Organizer again.
    5. Again Under 'edit' menu select 'edit->preferences->Adobe Partner services'. Now click  on 'refresh' button. Click 'ok' in coming dialog.

    Deleted the SMTP setting
    Recreated the SMTP using the same settings
    Able to send emails now
    No logic - as usual - just a bug!

    You don't. Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them. Instead of creating a new ID, change the primary email address on your existing ID.

    Am also facing the similar problem....any iputs are highly appriciated.
    Issue..
    1) Defined the attachment type in IMG.
    2) Added the attachment type "SFREEATTM" by selecting other attributes---> Attachment Types.
    3) Attached the excel file in the design.

    The Issue is when testing through tcode nwbc in the inbox the attachment tab is not visible after selecting the particular form.
