Acrobat 9 standard e-mail attachment virus issue.

We have users who create PDF documents and send them to customers. For years we have been using Adobe Acrobat 6 standard without any issue. Recently we have upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 9.  The problem is that some customers are not getting the attachment but are getting a virus warning attached to the mail.  I had some users try again using the old version 6 and the mail and attachment were delivered again to these customers without issue. So for some reason when using version 9 certain customers get the virus warning.
Was hoping someone may have come up against this problem before and knows why this is happening.

A work around is to have the users create the PDF with AA6 compatibility (see the job settings). As an alternative, open the PDF in Acrobat and use either Reduce File Size or PDF Optimize to save the file to an AA6 version.
They might also zip the files before sending them.

  • Acrobat Standard 9.4.5 Printing Issues

    Hi Forum People,
    I am having an issue with Acrobat Standard 9.4.5 on a Server 2003 Terminal Server.
    When users try to print PDF files they first get the following error:
    The Document Could Not be Printer
    Next they get:
    No Pages Were Selected
    I have checked some web articles and the sguuestions were to apply the latest updates or to print the files as an image.
    I already have the latest updates and the print as an image did not work
    Can anyone make any other suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Having the exact same issues hear.  Haven't been able to find a fix for it anywhere.  It has the be the last update.  Going to check if I can roll back to the previous update.

  • Does Acrobat Standard allow "mail merge" or do I need to purchase Acrobat Professsional to do that?

    I'm trying to use Mail Merge to fill in an Adobe PDF form with information from an Excel spreadsheet.
    I'm reading some stuff that says Adobe Acrobat Professional has such a tool. Does the Acrobat Standard have this capability?  Is there a free download
    for Auto Mail Merge?

    There are a variety of tools in Acrobat, especially for programmers, but nothing I'd really call a mail merge - nothing like the feature in Word.
    However, you really aren't in the right place for advice. Try an Acrobat forum, CreatePDF is a web service for people without Acrobat. I recommend you include the address (URL) of the web page where it talks about this feature, it could mean several things.

  • Acrobat Standard 8.1.1 Performance Issue

    for a little while now we have been noticing that performance of Acrobat declines the longer that you use it. Unlike the memory leak issues this issue does not get better when you reboot the computer. you would notice that after loading a document it took 5 - 10 sec's before you were able to do anything , i.e. scroll pages. It also seamed to cause issues when doing things like alt + tab between Acrobat screens and other screens.
    We have several apps which use acrobat functionally to display pdf's within them. we found that not only was Acrobat slow but also these parent apps as well as other desktop tasks like switching between windows.
    In the end we found a setting "Remember files in Organizer hystory for" which was set to "Last 12 months". It appears that each time Acrobat is opened or when a new file is opened it reads this file somehow and maybe even writes to it.
    We noticed that the people who were most effected have very large files ( over 30 mb's ), also part of our profiles are redirected ( not cached )to a nas which may have impacted this a little.
    We have actually disabled this setting and after doing so we noticed that Acrobat has returned to it origional performace levels.
    The setting is located under Preferences\documents\open settings within Acrobat.

    I work at a sign company and use Quark to create files (mostly text, some graphics) of all shapes and sizes, from a few inches square to several feet. I then RIP to emulsion film to produce positive & negative images for our silk screeners to burn in. The film I use is 28 inches wide and 200 feet long. My question regards film waste. Is there a way to batch/nest differing Quark file types next to each other across the spread (turning them landscape or portrait as necessary) to fill unused gaps in the film???? Often I can use the spreads feature in Quark, but just as often I only have one file/page to print, accompanied by a lot of waste. Giving up Quark and my Mac environment is not an option. I was told Acrobat might have a program for nesting Quark files after they're converted to PDFs. Would this entail new RIP software?---or is there some plug-in attachment that might work? Currently, my RIP software is on a PC-based platform and accepts Mac-Quark files as such.

  • Urgent: Adobe Reader does not attach pdf-files to standard e-mail software any more!

    Hello,
    Situation:
    Windows XP Pro; SP3
    Office 97
    Thunderbird
    Adobe Acrobat Reader
    When I want to attach a pdf-file directly from Adobe Reader to a new Thunderbird e-mail it starts ALL OF A SUDDEN the setup-assistant for Microsoft Exchange / Outlook! Why? I have no clue (:
    It worked fine until 3 days ago.
    Thunderbird is the standard e-mail software and it works for example fine if I click on an address in the internet. Thunderbird opens a new mail.
    I tried to uninstall Adobe Reader and installed it again (restart computer / ccleaner) but this failure still occurs!
    Does anybody know what to do please? It is really urgent because I need that function all the time... (:
    By the way: I do not work with Outlook; it is not configured.
    Thank you very much!

    > ALL OF A SUDDEN...
    What happened between when it worked correctly 3 days ago, and the time it stopped working as expected?
    Check Control Panel | Internet Options | tab Programs; to what is the E-mail option set?
    If it is already correctly showing Thunderbird, then try a System Restore to a date when it still worked correctly.

  • Acrobat Standard (9.4.6) - Issue: "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form"

    I have Adobe Acrobat Standard (version 9.4.6).  I am trying to create a form but when I start the form wizard, locate the document to convert and click next, I get an error message "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form."  What's wrong?  (I've used this feature before in Adobe Pro so I am familiar with the process but I am using Standard now).  It's not letting me upload my document (an MS Word 2003 document).  Please, someone, anyone, help!  I think I got a bad batch of software here.  Any suggestions?  If it's hopeless, who do I call for a replacement if that's the case?  Is this software under warranty?

    Hello Michael,
    Thank you for your email.  The file I am trying to convert to PDF and create a form with is a MS Office Word 2003 file.  It isn't any specific file; the issue happens every time.  I type my text in the Word doc and then proceed to open Adobe Acrobat Standard and use the wizard to create a form from an existing file.  I tried to repairing the software but it does not help.  Any other suggestions?  Is this version of software defective?  I really need this feature.  I look forward to your reply.  Thanks.

  • Acrobat Standard Markup numbering issue

    Hi,
    I am using Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.4.5 and am having issues with the markup function.
    Whenever I add a comment or mark-up, I get a small sequential number next to it (and sometimes obscuring the text as well).
    It is also in the printout.
    Any way I can turn the display off?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I tried your suggestion but no luck.
    I am uploading a screen print for your information.
    You can see the small numbers to the top left of each mark-up.
    Anything you can do to help is much appreciated.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard XI print issue

    When opening a PDF in internet explorer, adobe acrobat won’t read pre chosen print driver settings.
    When using acrobat stand alone, not in internet explorer, it does read the print settings.
    Specifically the issue is you set up print driver as single sided print under finishing.
    Only when you open PDF in IE, does acrobat choose 2 sided, it doesn’t read your single side setting under finishing.
    This does not happen for adobe reader by itself, with no acrobat. If acrobat is installed in addition to adobe reader, it still happens for acrobat.
    Windows 7 64bit Enterprise
    Internet Explorer - 10.0.9200.16897
    Adobe Reader XI - 11.0.3
    Adobe Acrobat Standard XI - 11.0.0 also tried update to 11.0.09

    Try this KB document:
    Serial dialog box appears | Printing | Version 11.0.01

  • Attach GOS attachments with a standard send mail functionality

    Hi Folks,
    I am here after long time and need your help.
    I have a requirement where I need to attach document with a standard send mail functionality.
    Below is the details:
    From Quality notification 'Action Box', if the user select a perticular action (it is similar to web link), the system is sending a mail to an external mail id provided by the user (In a popup). This mail send is happening through a SAP standard functionality.
    Now the requirement is, I need to attach selected file from GOS (generic Object Services) and attach them to the mail. Sending mail should happen through standard functionality.
    I want to know below two points:
    1) How to get selected files from GOS attachment?
    2) How to attach them to mail? (only attach, sending will be done by standard functionality)
    Hope I am clear with the requirement.
    Please help me to get it resolved.
    thanks,
    Surajit

  • Mail attachment drag and drop issue

    Been facing serious mail attachment drag-and-drop issue since 10.8 (if not from 10.7) and was disappointed to find the same behaviour still in 10.9.
    When I drag and drop a picture file (from Finder for example) into a message window or onto the Mail.app Dock icon, the system's window management somehow gets confused: my next step is to click on the message window in order to start typing. However, the mouse click causes that very window to escape under all other open applications / windows. Further on, I dig under to find the escapee and click again: once more it escapes. This can go on for a few annoying rounds until gets solved in an unexplainable way. This behaviour in not consistent, but has happens in about 8 cases out of 10.
    Apart from Mail.app I do not experience drag and drop issues of any kind.
    Anyone else suffering from this?

    I'd be interested in the answer to this too.
    It only just started happening to me a day or so ago, about the time that I think I did an OS upgrade.
    I'm on OSX 10.8.2.
    Its annoying.
    I can drop and drag in Finder but it just affects email.

  • Mail adapter issue with mail attachment

    Hi all,
    I have a scenario mail to file and i have a problem.
    Is it possible, in a sender adapter mail to use the option keep attachment and mail package at the same time ?
    So,is it possible to use the module payloadswapbean and XMLanonymizer in a sender adapter mail in order to suppress a namespace from the attachment in it ?
    Is the option mail package useful if i am using payloadswapbean module ?
    from what i see, It seems that the XMLanonymizer doesn't work for sender mail adapter with attachment. I've tested the configuration on a sender adapter file and works fine.
    Anyone already tested it ?
    Thanks,
    Jean-Philippe

    Hi Stefen,
    Thanks for the answers.
    The question is, whether the payloadswapbean is useful at all in a sender mail scenario.
    I don't understand this one ! Isn't mandatory in sender adapter mail scenario if you want to read your mail attachment ?
    Yes. If you configure the payloadswapbean correct, the XMLanonymizer works on the attachment.
    It is not easy to set the payloadswapbean in a correct way. IPost your parameters here, when it does not work for you.
    Ok. Maybe my configuration is wrong, please tell.
    Processing sequence :
    localejbs/AF_Modules/PayloadSwapBean => 0
    localejbs/AF_Modules/XMLAnonymizerBean => 1
    sap.com/com.sap.aii.adapter.mail.app/XIMailAdapterBean =>mail
    module configuration :
    swap.keyName =>Content-Disposition
    swap.keyName => Content-Description
    swap.keyValue=>MailAttachment-1
    swap.keyValue=>attachment;filename="MailAttachment-1.xml"
    anonymizer.acceptNamespaces =>http://namespace ''
    anonymizer.quote => ''
    I am on PI 7.1 version and when i am looking in the monitoring(sxmb_moni), it doesn't seems working.
    Thanks,

  • ANNOUNCEMENT: PDF Attachment Virus "Peachy"

    Situation Overview:
    On Tuesday, Aug. 7, we learned that a virus writer from South America named Zulu had created a computer virus called
    OUTLOOK.PDFWorm or Peachy that uses Microsoft Outlook to send itself as an attachment to an Adobe PDF file
    (the PDF file is named find.pdf , peach.pdf, findthepeach.pdf, find_the_peach.pdf, joke.pdf , or search.pdf ). If the attachment to the Adobe PDF file is opened using Acrobat 4.0 or 5.0, it will run a visual basic script (.vbs) file that will identify up to 100 contacts in the users Outlook program (after searching the address book, contact list, inbox, and sent mail) and send the virus to those contacts. At this time, we believe that this virus takes no malicious action beyond that described above.
    The virus only has the potential to affect full Acrobat 4.0 or 5.0 customersit is not a threat to Acrobat Reader® users.
    Full Acrobat 4.0 and 5.0 customers have several levels of protection from the virus threat.
    Anti-virus vendor McAfee has informed Adobe and stated publicly that the virus is low risk. McAfee has created an update
    to its software that will immediately detect and delete the virus when a full Acrobat 4.0 or 5.0 user opens the infected PDF file.
    The update is immediately available to users who contact McAfee and is expected to be included in that companys regular
    signature file update push on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Information about the virus is available on McAfees Web site at:
    http://vil.nai.com/vil/virusSummary.asp?virus_k=99179.
    Q: What protection do full Adobe Acrobat users have against this virus?
    A: Adobe is committed to the security of Acrobat and PDF, and full Acrobat 4.0 and 5.0 users have protection from this
    virus on several levels. Acrobat 4.0 and 5.0 launch a dialog box each time a user attempts to open an attachment alerting
    them that the file may contain a harmful virus and recommending the document only be opened if the recipient is certain
    the document is safe. Further, McAfee has created an update to its software that will immediately detect and delete the
    virus when a full Acrobat 4.0 or 5.0 user opens the infected PDF file. The update is immediately available to users who
    contact McAfee (at: [email protected]) and is expected to be included in that companys regular signature file
    update push on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Information about the virus is available on McAfees Web site at:
    http://vil.nai.com/vil/virusSummary.asp?virus_k=99179. Finally, Acrobat 5.0 users have the option to automatically
    delete all file attachments received in PDF documents (Tools>PDF Consultant>Detect & Remove>Deselect External
    Cross References).
    Q: Is the Portable Document Format (PDF) susceptible to computer viruses?
    A: No. Only files attached to PDF documents can carry viruses.
    Q: What versions of full Acrobat are affected?
    A: Acrobat 4.0 and 5.0 are susceptible to this virus. While Acrobat 3.0 provided the capability to send and receive file
    attachments, the mechanism in that version was architecturally different and is not susceptible to this virus.
    Q: Are Acrobat Reader users susceptible to this virus threat (can Acrobat Reader carry file attachments)?
    A: No. Acrobat Reader users are not susceptible to this virus. Acrobat Reader does not include the code needed to recognize
    file attachments. This virus only has the potential to affect full Acrobat 4.0 and 5.0 users and there are several levels of
    protection in place for those customers.
    Q: Is Acrobat eBook Reader susceptible to this virus?
    A: No. Adobe eBooks are not susceptible to viruses of this type. Acrobat eBook Reader does not include the code needed to
    recognize/read file attachments.
    Q: What impact have the two recent security issues (Peachy virus and Elcomsoft) had on
    Acrobat and Adobe PDF?
    A: No software application is completely immune to the malicious intent of hackers, and Adobe products are no exception.
    With that said, we are committed to the security of Acrobat and PDF, and we use (and will continue to use) industry standard practices in the development of these technologies.

    This issue got on my last nerve for three week with the advent of a new Dell One running Vista Ultimate/WIndows Mail and Adobe Pro Extended 9.
    I googled and found a post by Greg Hughs; his fix worked like a champ.
    Here goes;
    Open up Acrobat; click on edit/preferences; choose Internet uncheck display PDF in browser under web browser options.
    That's it.
    Hope it works for you!

  • Create a Form in Acrobat Standard that can be filled out AND SIGNED using Free Reader

    I am tasked with creating forms that can be read, filled out and signed and submitted electronically by users that have only the reader software. I am using Acrobat 5 standard. I have not yet found a way to successfully create a form field that would allow users to insert a signature of some sort. This signature does not have to be encrypted, or use the digital signature system Adobe Acrobat has where you create a profile, log in, etc. It could be as simple as the ability to insert a jpeg or other image of their handwritten signature. This is to avoid having to have them fill it out, and then print it and fax or scan it in. It would be great if they could fill it out and then just save it and email it. How would I do this, or is it even possible?
    Thanks,
    JOhn

    With AA5, there is no capability to submit a signature - even electronic. You can create a form that can be filled out, signed in the sense of adding a name and date, and submit to a web site.
    Insertion of images is not part of forms with AA5, but I think has become possible recently. Even so, they reader would also have to be compatible with the feature to be able to use it. If the typing of the name and the date would do, then you can add those fields - sort of the limit with AA5.
    With AA5, they can not save the form with the data. They can submit the data as an FDF file to a web site. If you have control of the client machines, then you can consider e-mail since those issues can be worked out locally. Without control of the clients (like a general form on the web), don't bother with e-mail since there will always be some that have problems.
