Acrobat cannot bring in a word document.

Acrobat could not open 'FILENMAE.docx' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF
Any suggestions for a fix on this situation?

The reason for the section breaks is precisely what you mentioned, going from portrait to landscape for some unwieldily tables. This happens several times in the documents.
Any suggestions for how to deal with it for this circumstance?
P.S. How do you know so much! You are amazing.
Well I've been dealing with Acrobat since version 3, and Word since Vers 6.0. both about around 94  and  there reports of the problem in earlier versions
Try that utility I suggested Cups-PDF see what happens.

    Hi johnb69345359,
I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. Lets try to resolve this issue.
I would require few details in order to diagnose the issue correctly :-
    1) Are you able to launch Acrobat XI pro ?
If yes, please try Help -> Repair option to repair Acrobat XI pro. Then try to perform the covert operation.
    2) Let me know the Operating system installed on your computer.
    3) Is there any error code or error message?

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Importing large Word-Documents

    Hello together!
I have a big problem with my doctorate thesis. I would like to import a large Word-Document (2.28 MB, about 300 pages) into Acrobat 9 Pro. That doesn't work at all. I can't beleave it. Is Adobe even worse than Microsoft?????!!!!!!!!
It starts to import, but at the point of 7% everything is finish. I tried everything, but I can't import that document. Does anyone have a good idea? That would be really great...
    Thank you very much!!
    Chris

If it is changing the indices, then you likely have printing metrics turned on (they are off by default in WORD 2007 and on in previous versions). If you want to change the printing metrics, you will have to search through a whole list of choices in the options for WORD. I the meantime, select the Adobe PDF printer and then use ctrl-A, F9 to update your pages and layout (I assume you are using styles and such). The print out should then be correct. The disadvantage is that you would have no bookmarks unless you add them manually in Acrobat.
When you have problems with PDF Maker, open the preferences and start turning off every things (you might want to write down the settings first so that you new what you started with). Then add things in until the PDF creation is broken. Then you know what the major cluprit likely is in the failure to create a PDF.

  • Cannot convert PDF to WORD document

Why doesn't my PDF file convert?  The message states that there is an error.

It could be the PDF is secured and does not allow the conversion, though I would expected a message saying that rather than error. What is the error message? What OS and what version of Acrobat.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Will Not Print Word Document with a Rotated Table

I have a MS Word document that is mostly text, but include a table that has been rotated in a text box to fit on the page.  When I try to print to PDF using Acrobat Pro XI, the document crashes at the page the table is on.
I have tried several attempts to print using the Acrobat Printer, convert to PDF feature and trying to print just the page alone.  Acrobat will simply not print word document with a rotated table.
Any idea how to fix this?
Word 2013, Windows 7, Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.06

In the full document, the print to PDF goes only as far as the table, then ends - not printing the table.  The remaining pages are not printed.
For example, I have trimmed the file down to just the table page, and included links to it, and a copy of the PDF it generated.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/60543835/Forums/Table%20Sample_140903.pdf
The error message I now get when I try to print is: "There is not enough memory or disk space to repaginate or print this document."
However, with the Task manager open, the memory never seems to get above half of the available (the graph bar fluctuates a little, but stays stable")
The page prints to a regular HP or Xerox printer with no problems.

Easiest way with Acrobat pro, is save the Word document, then convert the document to PDF with Acrobat, rather than doing a "save as" in Word itself to PDF.
Do you have Acrobat full version or Pro?

  • Word document links won't open in IE 9

I got a user who cannot open up a word document link in sharepoint online that should display a word  dialog box basically in IE 9. When clicking, nothing happens even if pop up blocker is off, but he can access the word documents from the link in Firefox.
I also found out that I am able to open it up under my windows profile on that machine so it must be a corrupted windows profile.
    I reset IE
    Cleared cache
Verified in registry in class roots that .html is set to htmlfile
Anything I can do besides redoing the user's windows profile?

Can you try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away? You can restart in Firefox Safe Mode by either:
    * Clicking the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and selecting ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled'', or;
    * Holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration.
Let us know how you get on.

How to read word document which is stored as BLOB column in table.
I want to read it word by word. Please explain me how to raed using DBMS_lob
    package and substr,instr.

You cannot. A Microsoft Word document is in a proprietary binary format. You cannot treat it as a text file and read "word-by-word" from it.
As for examples - refer to the [url http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/toc.htm]Oracle® Database PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference manual. It describes DBMS_LOB and its usage in detail.

  • Cannot import a set of comments in the PDF to a Word document

I'm desperately trying to import a set of comments in a PDF to a Word document and cannot do so in Acrobat9. Time is of the essence. I keep getting the following message:
When PDF was created, the content and it was not tagged.  exporting comments into a Word document will only work if the PDF is a tagged PDF.
To create a tagged PDF, you must select "change conversion settings" from the Adobe PDF menu, and check the box labeled "enable accessibility and reflow with tagged PDF."
I had no idea where to look to make this change--where is the Adobe PDF menu??? I tried doing research in the Adobe help information, and it directs me to go to: advanced > Accessibility > Add tags document. However when I click these menu items, the menu item "add tags to document" is gray and cannot be selected.
So now I've got a 1200-page draft filled with comments and I can't get them to the owner.  I'd appreciate anybody's help. I never had a problem importing comments in previous releases of Adobe Acrobat.

Just to add a bit more information:
We use a tool called the Arbortext Editor to write our source and use the transform tool to automatically create a PDF of the source.
