Acrobat - Error# 16820

When trying to update Acrobat, and after manually downloading Adobe AIR from adobe.com in order to start the download, the update failed with an Error# 16820. Can you please advise what this error is and how I can fix it? Thanks

Sounds like you have the Acrobat.com desktop (AIR) application installed.  This application is no longer supported.  I would suggest you uninstall it and simply use the web interface (http://acrobat.com) moving forward.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • I can't launch Acrobat XI. I downloaded it and a mandatory update gets an error message: Error 16820. Any suggestions?

I am very frustrated that after downloading Acrobat XI I can't use it. I get a message that I must install a mandatory update but the update won't download. I get an error message: Error 16820.
    Any suggestions?@

I think this is a mandatory update for something which (confusingly) is nothing to do with Acrobat XI. See Mandadory update 2.3.0.0 gets error 16820

  • Mandadory update 2.3.0.0 gets error 16820

I've just started getting the error 16820 when I run Acrobat 9 Pro on my Windows Vista Home Premium.  Included are the two screenshots.  I reviewed the solution at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4315635#4315635 which recommends deinstalling the Adobe Desktop Application because that is what's causing the problem.  However, it doesn't say how to do that and the program isn't listed in control panel.

Thank you, I actually did something different.  I couldn’t find the desktop application in the control panel so I couldn’t de-install it.  however, I repointed my start menu shortcut to acrobat.exe and now I’m fine.  Thanks.

  • Mandatory download will not download cites error #16820

I have not idea what the problem is.  But Adobe will not open, and the mandatory update will not download.  How do I determine what error no. 16820 means?

First of all, by posting in the correct forum, this is an Adobe Connect user forum and you are citing an Adobe Acrobat error. And then second, by Googling.

What version of OS X? Some people have luck by clearing their caches. This can be done with Applejack in 10.5. Onyx will work in SL.

What email client are you using?  Are the Acrobat preferences configured to use that email client?  Is it running when you try to send that document?

  • Acrobat error 130:11

What is the Acrobat error 130:11? it says there is a problem with my creative cloud license. I just started and paid for my subscription and it has been working fine since I installed it one week ago.

It only took me a day to experience the same issue. I'm taking the same, long, unistall and reinstall tack to try and fix it again. This time I also uninstalled Acrobat Reader X figuring maybe there are some shared registry entries that may get reset on this new install. The download is taking forever compared to yesterday's effort. By the way, why can't the Application Manager invoke uninstallation? It's not much of a "manager" since it only appears to do installs. Again the install failed, this time I'm capturing details which follow:

Great. Third install attempt also failed. I run my system as an admin, but I'll see if I can restart Application Manager with sysadmin priveleges. I don't know what the "OS requirements..." messages are about.

Can you try to download the latest AIR runtime from http://get.adobe.com/air/ ? Make sure all applications are closed when you run the installer.
