Acrobat Error - need help! - Acrobat 9 Pro

When I try to open an acrobat files my it trys to Open EVERY acrobat file on my computer and does so until I get the following message
"There was an error opening this document. The maximum number of files are already open. No other files can be opened or printed until some are closed"
Then I have to force quit.
This just started happending a few months ago
I am on a Mac OSX
I need help! Any suggestions?

Need Help - Acrobat 9.4 won't open scanned documents

I have a computer in my office that will not open scanned documents in Acrobat 9.4. Acrobat opens but is just a grey screen. Documents that were converted to PDF from Word/Excel/etc. will open just fine.
Adobe Reader 10X is also installed on the computer and will open scanned documents, but user needs to be able to go in and edit documents, so Reader is not enough for him.
Any troubleshooting ideas greatly appreciated.

Since scans are images you need to go to Edit > Preferences > Page Display and put a checkmark in the box for "Show large images" This should allow you to see the scans.

I think you need to configure proxy for the JRE
If you are using windows Go to control panel , you will find an icon called java plugin. if you have installed multiple JRE you will find multiple icons . Select the one which is configured to browser.
You will find a proxies tab in that window , add the proxy details there

Acrobat-ics, need help soonish

Hi,
I'm going a bit crazy over Adobe Acrobat. I'm quite sure I have the compatible version for 8.6 and for Netscape 7.02.
It's seriously frustrating. When I try to open a PDF it goes to the intended PDF website but the screen's blank. Nothing downloads, and more than occasionally there's a scary freeze.
If you could help, I'd really appreciate it. I found some directions that I need to download or at least open.

PS It's probably version 3.01. That's the newest, most recently modified file of it. I also probably have more than one version. Could that be the problem--I'll try deleting older versions; no, moving them. I'm afraid to delete them in case I need them.

More than likely this is caused not by your version of Acrobat, but rather by the creators level of compatibility. PDF files have to be told to be compatible with pdf 1.3 (Acrobat 4 or earlier) or they simply are created for the creators current level. A major change happened with pdf's when they changed from version 4 to 5. These changes involved fonts, licencing and transparancies. None of the changes are supported by Acrobat 4 or earlier versions. You will need to upgrade to OS 9.1 or 9.2.2 for Acrobat 5.5 to work. Acrobat 5 was very glitchy and patches brought it to 5.5 within a few months, but at least it supports most of what is being created and written from version 6 and 7 (don't know about 8 yet, I have not even tried to use it)

Need help: Acrobat has disabled Preview

Previously, whenever I clicked on a pdf file in Safari, the file would download to a specified folder and it would open with Preview. Recently, I made the TERRIBLE mistake of installing Acrobat and then uninstalled it. But now when I click on a pdf link in Safari, nothing happens. Nothing downloads and nothing opens. Somehow Acrobat has damaged the link between Safari and Preview and I can't seem to fix it. Has anyone encountered this? Can anyone help???

Piggy-backing on colin's suggestion of Firefox, Camino has an almost identical interface as Safari and you should be very comfortable in it. It offers security features, like Firefox's Adblock, that are easier to use and more automated. I use it along with Firefox, and almost never use Safari anymore. Downlown and try it. It's free, if it does what you want, that's all that matters.

Acrobat Livecycle need help

I am having a problem with Adobe Livecycle 8.2.1 i create a form then choose distribute the form has a email submit button but when user clicks submit my email I get this screen and it tells me if the user would like to submit the form via Desktop application or internet email on the internet email it tells me
"You will need to fill out the form and save it and manually send it to [email protected]"<<<<< Where do I change this [email protected] it's driving me crazy because thats not the right email address

Since the Distribute feature is part of Acrobat (not LiveCycle), this is a good place to post. You can change the email return address under Edit > Preferences > Identity panel.

Need Help- Acrobat Forms

I work at a school and created an adobe form for student write ups.
We have it hosted on our network and I created a submit file and a response file.
Right now when I open the response file I can update and edit and save. But when my principal opens it, he can only see what I have saved and cant do any updates or saves.
Is it possible for 2 accounts to have full rights to the response file? If not is there a better way to do this. We want to both be able to see, update, change and save the files.
I feel like I have tried everything but nothing seems to work.

OK, and this may not be any more help, but another thing I would check is if anything is locked on the form when you go into the form wizard and edit fields... especially if when you go to the save button or save the document it automatically locks it. If you place a signature on it it automatically locks the document and I am not sure how to get around that. Also if you are submitting the form to like an intranet page, make sure if you export it as an FDF you check "Incremental changes to the PDF" and probably comments
Finally (nearing the end of my 30 second Adobe class I went to) if you are saving it as a PDF document to sent to the other party, then it automatically locks the document for security reasons (please correct me if I'm wrong)... and as a last resort or a workaround he could probably bring up typewriter and just type what he wants in there and save it that way. If refilling fields and adding data is a requirement I think the only real way to do that is to distribute the form as an FDF.
Hopefully in all that jibberish you found something that is of use...
As far as setting up admin users, I was not aware of any feature like that... I thought if you originated the form then you were the super user as it were... if the other document works just fine and they are both made the same way then I am not sure... sorry to not be of much help

Alert message error - need help

I'm very poor in the javascript department when developping PDFs and I would need a little help with this issue.
On one row, I would need field C to check on exit if Field A is larger than field C. If field A is not larger, then I need an alert message to pop up and say "Field C cannot be larger than field A." and then the cursor would return to field C, and the value of field C would become 0 (zero).
I've tried a few ways, but I do not seem to be getting it right. Any one have a clue how to do this effectively?

It would appear that there isn't. The sample I posted worked for me, which makes me think there are other factors involved such as:
1. What version of compatibility are you saving the form as? (I saved it as compatible with 8.1 or later)
2. What program is being used to open the pdf? (I used Acrobat 8.1.6)
3. Is the user actually clicking the button with the mouse or simply hitting the Enter key to answer the pop-up? (I clicked it)
4. Machine OS (I'm using 64-bit XP, Service Pack 2)
Something else is going on that is making the pdf perform differently, maybe something as simple as the form moving outside the environment it was created in. No matter what the reason is, controlling the focus is the issue and it doesn't look to be something we can control reliably.

User Error Needs Help Correcting - Repeatable Tag on Custom Section Attribute

OK, I have v.6111. Today I am manually putting the supplier_eq_create tag on all the the existing attributes in our custom sections so suppliers can add them when we send eQs. Unfortuately, I accidently clicked on the Repeatable tag instead of Supplier_EQ_Create in a couple of instances in our Export/Staging Environment. When I try to remove the Repeatable tag, I get the error that says " row's Repeatable status cannot be altered after the row has been activated" ... we have not actually used the repeatable functionality of the tag. I need to know how I can remove this tag from active attributes due to human error before I import to PROD. Can the forum help me?

As long as you are sure that no-one has consume this you can remove this tag with a database script.
As with every script make sure that you backup your data.
With the following script you can find the rows that contain repeatable tag for a particular section template
select rowTemplate.* from eaSectionDynamicTagJoins rowTTagjoin

Tags are linked to custom section row templates using eaSectionDynamicTagJoins table.
You can remove the tag from a specific row using the following script
delete from eaSectionDynamicTagJoins
where fkEAS = '<pkid of the row>';

Insert object (pdf) in excel getting error. need help

When we try to insert a PDF file as an object we get the error. could not load object.
This is what we are doing
insert - object - create from file - display as icon.
We select the file and get the error.
We are on a windows 7 64-bit system with Office 2010 but project 2013 and Acrobat reader XI.
Any Ideas as to why?

Where did you get the PDF file from ? Did you create it yourself? What software did you use to create the PDF file?
Does this issue happen the all PDF files? Please try to save a Microsoft Word document as PDF file and then test this issue with this PDF file again.
In addition, please try to temporarily uninstall the Adobe Reader and then test the issue again. Also make sure you have the latest adobe reader installed.

Getting this error, need help: No Name Available via DNS

i was wondering if someone can help me out. i m being getting this error message xserver servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no name available via DNS for 192.168.0.XXX . The server is set up stand alone server, only being use to host Filemaker Pro Databases. i type hostname to see what it show me, it show me fmserver.local. the internal ip assign to it, it is static and the WAN IP is also static.
any help would be appreciate it.

if you change your network interface's DNS to point to yourself, then you should add your isp's nameservers to the "fowarders" options in your /etc/named.conf file, so your nameserver, when it can't find a local or cached record to answer the query, can still use your ISPs nameserver to lookup the information...
