Acrobat printing certain PDF's with 8 - 9 lines across the pages.

A few Acrobat user's are seeing thin black lines on the printed pages.  We do not see the lines on the PDF on the computer screen.  I am unable to reproduce the issue with Acrobat Pro 10.1.3, I upgraded the user that brought this to my attention to Acrobat Pro 10.1.3 and she is still seeing the Black Lines on her printed pages.  I had another user test to the same printer and we did not see the lines on the printed pages.  She is using Acrobat Pro 10.0.2.
At this point I think it's a user setting?  Any ideas or suggestions?
I attempted to upload examples in PDF format, PDF's are not allowed????

Hi,
Please share the files.
Are you facing this problem on particular machines?? And is this problem reproducible with every PDF document on these machines?
Also provide the information about which OS are you using on the machines where this problem is occurring.
Thanks.

The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year of 2013.
Acrobat 9 support of MS Project via PDFMaker stops with Office 2007.
For Office 2013 support you must use Acrobat XI (11.0.1) or newer.

  • HP Laserjet pro P1606 wont print certain pdf documents

My HP laserjet P1606 won't print certain pdf docs.  It's connected via USB to my imac (OS 10.7.5; Adobe Reader 9.5.5). My wireless HP Photosmart 6520 has no problem printing my pdf docs.   Not sure why some pdf's are able to print on the P1606 and others can't.  Any solutions?

    Hi @JL_MAC,
I understand that you aren't able to print all the PDF documents from the HP Laserjet P1606dn, but the Photosmart 6520 can. I can help you with this.
Run all the Adobe Reader updates to see if that helps. The latest version is 11.0.
It might be a issue with the printer language.
The Laserjet P1606dn printer is hostbased and the Photosmart 6520 printer language is PCL3 GUI.
    Hope this helps.
    Have a nice day!

  • Printing problems (PDF files-HP Color Laserjet 1518ni: return the printer?

Hi everyone, I recently switched platforms and became a Mac user and had to buy a new
printer because my old HP deskjet is not compatible with my computer. So, I bought an HP
Color Laser printer, supposedly Mac compatible, but every time I try to print a PDF file it only
prints the first page. And then stops printing. I spent hours with the HP customer service, reinstalled
the driver, changed configurations, but it still does the same thing. The customer service representative could not solve the problem. I was wondering if there is any one else who had a similar issue with printing? Is it Mac OS X 10.5.5 that causes the problem? I am about to return the laser printer; it would be so helpful if I got some feedback. If it is a printer issue, then, which printer would you folks recommend that is not too expensive but efficient (I use the printer a lot and need an efficient one) and a printing speed of around 12-20ppm that actually does work with the Mac?
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for calling my attention to the Adobe issue. I did try and print a PDF file with Preview and it worked! How was the issue solved with Adobe 7? Maybe Adobe pro7 also similar bug issues; is it to Adobe that I should be reporting this or to Apple?
    Thanks again.
It's definitely an Adobe problem. The only solution I ever saw was either to print from Preview or to use later versions of Adobe Reader 8 or any version of Reader 9. I asked Adobe support what the problem was. I never got a reply.
You should know that Preview (and any other application which reads PDFs using Apple's PDF engine) has a problem with displaying Times Roman Italic, and only Times Roman Italic when launched under OS X 10.5.5. All other fonts appear to work normally; at least I haven't found one which has a problem, including other Times Roman font faces, including Times Roman Bold Italic. Preview seems to print properly, but the on-screen display has problems. The same files display properly with apps which don't use Apple's PDF engine, and also with apps which use Apple's PDF engine under versions of the OS earlier than 10.5.5, going back to at least 9.2.1. Apple is aware of the problem.
There seems to be at least two problems with the main PDF engines for OS X, Apple's and Adobe's.

  • Can I use the pdf fax with a DSL line

Can I use the pdf fax with a DSL line and, if so, how do I get the pdf fax modem to appear in my printer options? No Modems appear in my Modem pop-up menu.
    Thanks,

Should I be able to fax using the internal fax software if I set it up with the proper settings?
Yes, if it's not a purely Digital line, dial that FAX number on your Phone, does it answer with a screech?
Must I disconnect all my other lines in order to use this?
No, you shouldn't need to... do you have DSL Filters on all lines except the DSL connection, like these...
    http://www.twacomm.com/info/DSL_Filters.htm
Oh, it's not clear, do you have 2 actual Lines/Phone numbers, or do they share the same line?

Make sure that '''''Print to File''''' isn't selected in the native print dialog box ''(see screenshot below)'' middle-right, and make sure your Printer is selected at the top of that dialog box.

Not sure if it's any better in the version you have, but in earlier versions, you would have to manually select alternating rows using cmd-click in the row numbers and then fill the cells with the lightest possible shade in the fill palette.  Again, in an earlier version, it is possible to use the format painter (use your Excel help for details) to select several rows formatted with the shading and paint that format to an equivalent number of rows elsewhere.

did so now, only now I'm getting a slightly different error: could not find udevd no such file or directory. I checked both grub.cfg's and my mkinitcpio.conf and there's no listing for udevd ....which I've never heard of, so I assumed it was a typo?
For clarification: udev is in the mkinitcpio.
I'm not sure whether I yet have a good intuition for how you have your machine set up, but I suspect you need to include a cryptdevice flag to the kernel in your grub config. The file isn't found because the kernel doesn't know your root directory needs decrypting first.
My setup is an LVM over LUKS over LVM sandwich. To boot into my system, the grub.cfg contains the line:
    linux /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/mapper/cryptvg-root cryptdevice=/dev/mapper/vg-crypt:root rootfstype=ext4 pcie_aspm=force acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1 i915.lvds_downclock=1 ro
Now, most of those flags don't have anything to do with your problem, but note the cryptdevice. It tells the kernel it's dealing with an encrypted filesystem sitting in a logical volume called crypt on a volume group called vg. The bit after the colon tells the kernel to associate this encrypted filesystem with /dev/mapper/root.
As for how to fix your system, I'm afraid I still feel a bit fuzzy about how your LVM and encrypted layers relate to each other, whether you have LVM over LUKS, or LUKS over LVM, or something else. Was there a particular how-to that you followed?

  • HP 3055 Prints a line down the page

I am having some trouble with an HP Laserjet 3055, when I print a page while the printer is 'cold' , a small strip 1/8" thick of garbage prints down the entire length of the page..  If I print more than one page the error gets smaller and smaller and around the 4th page the printer prints perfectly...
If I wait over a minute before printing another page the 'line' resurfaces.
I've tried different toner cartridges and have done the printers cleaning command, nothing has helped...   Does anyone have any idea ?

I have similar problem with HP LaserJet 2430.
While printing, characters from each line are repeated at 3 inch intervals along the length of the paper at about 2 inches and 7 inches from the left margin that appear as two grey bands on the printout. The widths of the bands are approximately 2 characters and 8 characters. For example when a single line is printed the characters at 2 in and 7 in locations from the left margin repeat at 3, 6 and 9 inches down from the printed line and the intensity of the printing decreases.
For example if I print a printer test page, the HP logo at the top right corner will repeat with reducing intensity at 3, 6, and 9 inches from the first logo print.
Similarly if I print a word document with just one line of numbers 1234567890 repeated for the width, the numbers 23 at 2 inch and 67890123 at 7 inch from left margin will repeat every 3 inch along the length of paper (portrait mode) with decreasing intensity.
While printing documents with multiple lines this causes two grey vertical bands along the length of the paper.

  • Issues with lines across the screen, as well as freezing

Issues with lines across the screen, as well as freezing
    Hello all
Got an iMac since January 2008 and I do like it a lot, even though it has some issues:
-- It displays (quite often) lines partially across the screen
-- Lines appear as well when opening applications or when menus come up
-- The system freezes more than I like to admit (more than my Windows/Ubuntu box)
I don't know if the freezing has to do with the lines that are shown on my screen. But I assume that both issues relate to some video card problem. I can't be sure - but that's what I assume from living with this issue day to day.
The line on the desktop (most of the time it is there before login) I can always get rid of by changing the display resolution to something else and then changing it back. Normally the line is gone, or, reappears on a different spot on the desktop. But repeating the procedure removes the line.
However, this does not mean that the lines are not showing up again when launching apps or displaying menus!
And since those lines appear to happen randomly, I think it's safe to assume that we're not talking dead pixels here, either...
    About the freezing:
My iMac freezes sometimes when I move the mouse around, when switching desktops using "spaces" or when the zoom function of the Dock kicks in. Sometimes the screen goes completely black, sometimes completely white. The mouse, however, always works. But the system requires a reboot.
Again, this happens too often to feel comfy about it.
With my little knowledge of Mac troubleshooting I assume that there's something wrong with the ATI card that's built into my Mac. On the other hand, some people say that they started getting similar issues after updating their OS to Leopard. Again other people say that such issues stem from an ATI revision that is too old and the Mac should get a new ATI card. And how would that work? Isn't that an "all-in-one" machine with everything soldered onto the mainboard?
So, any help in this matter is greatly appreciated...
    Cheers,
    Rainer

Here are a few screen photos I've taken (not screenshots, as the lines are not visible when taking screenshots. I used my digicam to snap those...).
Here's the link to those screen photos displaying some of the many lines I keep having:

Needless to say, as I typed this message here, I had a nice line going across my Safari window..

    Every time Firefox opened

Go to the "File" menu, then "Print." The window that appears will have three drop-down menus at the top.
    The first is labeled "Printer",
    The second is "Presets".
The third is unlabeled but has "Copies & Pages" selected by default.
Click on that third menu and select "Firefox" near the bottom of the list.
