Acrobat Pro 8.2.6 with Win XP on SP 3 - Illegible Printing Issue

I'm using Acrobat Pro 8.2.6 with Win XP on SP 3.
Several weeks ago my PDF files, whether received via email or generated by scanning, cause a problem when I attempt to print.  When the PDF is printed to either one of three printers or to Adobe PDF to create a new PDF, the document changes to a dark grey background and the text ends up with a halo around it causing the document to be illegible. I don’t believe the printers to be part of the issue as they are multiple makes / models, of which two are network printers and the remaining printer is attached via a serial port.
I've used the original software to patch/repair several times, which works in the short run.  Once the PC is shut down though, or goes overnight, the graying-out issue resumes.
I have also used the "Optimized Scanned PDF" function, under Documents, which clears up most of the issues but any bolded or italicized text still has a residual halo so that portion is illegible.
Any ideas how to fix this ongoing issue?
Thank you,

>only fails on a certain account
That would SEEM to indicate it is a permissions issue
Different software, but with Adobe Encore on Win7 I can create a single layer DVD the "usual" way, but to create a dual-layer DVD I must right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator from the pop up option list
Give that a try... or, maybe, go to the Acrobat EXE and right click and select to always Run as Administrator (if that option is there for WinXP)
Note that for Win7 (maybe for WinXP ???) simply BEING the Administrator seems to be different than using the Run as Administrator option

I don't think so.  You will probably not be able to activate that old of a version anyways due to it no longer having a supporting activation server.

(Previous installation got corrupted) Continually getting message ‘Acrobat has detected another process which has not yet completed…’. Have now closed system both cold (full shutdown) and warm (restart) over 10 times. Every time I go to reinstall I get message.

  • Barbara Brundage, can you help with PS Elements 11 and Epson R2000 printer issue?

Seeking help with PS Elements 11 which does not work with Epson r2000 printer.  Epson tech support could not fix, said it is PS e11 problem.  Receive prompt on PS e11 screen when I try to print stating "not compatible or settings are not correct.  Have set PS to manage color and printer manages color to off.  Would appreciate any suggestions.  Thank you.

    Hi,
Sincerely appreciate your help.  Running Windows 7 on a  Dell XPS420.  System has been very stable for years.  Before purchasing the Epson r2000, I owned an r1800 which was an excellent printer but after seven years started to exhibit paper feed problems.  The r1800 worked with all applications and I was well satisfied with the saturation, contrast, etc. printing mostly 8x10 and 11x17 prints.
Thank you for the information about the # of installs for PS E11, will try uninstall/reinstall this morning.
Will let you know how things go.

I cannot print a PDF from Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader.  I tried on both MacBook Pros we have here, both now with Mavericks.  Error message says "Opening printer connection failed.  Unable to open printer connection . . . • Acrobat Pro 9.5 conflict with Adober Reader 9?

I am using Acrobat Pro 9.5 on my Mac running OS X 10.6.8. I am having problems with an online learning site I need for a client. It wants me to install Adobe Reader 9. Will it create a conflict to have both programs on my computer?

    I already have 9.5.4.
I have over 500Gigs Free space on my HD
I print to B&W, and Color and just back to the Adobe Driver (to create another PDF as a test-and still crashes if I attempt more than about 200 PDFs). I have tried it with 6 Different Printers, even at Economy printing. I always keep all my drivers (like software updates) to the latest and greatest. in fact, I checked to make sure they were all when I got the 1st crash.
If I select more than about 200, the entire program crashes, it doesn't even attempt to start printing.
    Printer Spooling Not on.
    Just printing simple B & W line drawings (at 8 1/2 X 11)
Here are just a few printers I have tried...
Kyocera TASKalfa 520i KX PS and PCL
    Xerox 4110 PCL & PS
    Xerox 4112 PCL & PS
    Xerox 7545 PS & PCL
    Xerox Phaser 7760

  • Acrobat Pro 9.5 crashing with Multiple prints

I have Acrobat 9.5 pro on multiple machines in my office, when trying to print to ANY printer, even to another PDF, if I select more than 200ish pages (8 1/2x11-simple prints), it crashes Adobe Acrobat. This happens wether its a binder or a portfolio. Also when when printing from Acrobat, it really hogs down the systems.
Says no repair is needed, and I know my system is strong enough (these are built for High graphics CAD use)
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel i7-2700k CPU @3.5GHz  3.90 GHz
    16 GB ram
    64bit OS
Any Suggestions or patches would be grateful. I would really like to be able to send my 400+ page PDF and walk away.

  • I have Acrobat Pro 9 and Macbook with no CD drive

I've seen other threads about this with no resolution. I got as far as a page here on Adobe and found Acrobat Pro 9 "unavailable" to download.
Arghh...I have my serial numbers (small business with only 3 of us, and need it on my home laptop, but can't load from original media).
    Suggestions welcome.

I am signed in to Adobe, followed the "Click «HERE» to visit this page first" link, (which goes to a download page for Elements 13),
I then clicked "See all downloads" at the bottom (figuring that's how I'm going to find Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac)...
    Nope.
You missed Step 3 in the prodesigntools instructions.
"3. Now close any windows that popped up and cancel any downloads that started."
In following that (deliberately tricky and non-intuitive) step, you have tricked the Adobe server into placing a trial version cookie on your hard drive. Now you're ready to download Acrobat 9 - not directly from adobe.com - but from the Adobe servers via the prodesigntools website download links.
So, then, go back to the prodesigntools page and click the download link for Acrobat 9 for Mac.

  • Will Acrobat Pro 9 be compatible with OS X 10.7 Lion?

Will Acrobat Pro 9 be be compatible with OS X 10.7 Lion?

Roaring Apps is indeed the source
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/p/1
The claim on the site is that it was tested on Lion and "does not work properly," which is to say there are major, not minor problems.
I spoke with someone at Adobe today who tells me that version 10.1, or at least a modified version of 10.1 that is Lion compatible will be available when Lion is released.
That leads me to believe neither version 9 nor the current version 10 will run properly under Lion. I do not know the extent of the issues. Since I use Acrobat Pro often, I'm not thrilled with having to upgrade, so I'd love to find out that the Roaring Apps post is incorrect. But there was no indication from my discussion today that the old software would work on the new OS. Quite the opposite.
I did mention that I thought $199 was a steep upgrade cost for making the program work with a Mac OS update that Adobe has had access to for a fair amount of time. Particularly since Apple has made it clear for years that they would be dropping support for coding based on the old Power PC architecture.

  • Acrobat pro 9 in combination with acrobat reader X

In our company we have acrobat reader 9 installed on all desktops. About 5% of the users also make use of acrobat pro 9 and have both the pro and reader installed.
We now want to upgrade to acrobat reader X. This will work fine for the users who only have the reader, but can reader X and acrobat pro 9 coexist on the same system or do we get issues?

This will work. However, even though it's supported the installation of different products with different version across an enterprise environment introduces many variables, and there's no way that Adobe can test what soon becomes an infinite number of environments.
That said, the reason Reader X was designed to work with Acrobat 9.x (the later the version the better) is because its sandboxing features make it far more secure. So upgrading to Reade X is recommended. It would be wise to test your deployment on a few machines for a bit before deploying to all your users.

  • Acrobat Pro XI and 64 bit Win 8.1 installation problem

When I try to install Acrobat Pro XI on my 64 bit Win 8.1 system it's not able to find some files.
    For example:  Xtras\AdobePDF\Amd64Vista
If I skip that file, and the others, it says "Installation Failed". If I try to run it I get error 16.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Silent Install of Acrobat Pro 7.0 fails with Error 1404

    Hi,
I'm trying to silently install Acrobat Pro 7.0.
I have created the MST using the Installshield Tuner 7.0, and use the following command line to install:
    msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=mytransform.mst /qb
I am getting the following error message:
    Error 1404.Could not delete key
    \software\Classes\CLSID\{CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}
Verify you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
If i repeat the command without the /qb, and do a manual install (msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=mytransform.mst), it installs without error, so the problem only exists in a silent install.
    System Specs:
Windows XP SP2 with all MS patches to march 2007
    Acrobat Reader 8.0
Base image created by SYSprep, and then using Altiris Rdeploy.
I'm suspecting that a MS patch has locked down that part of the registry, and the Acrobat Pro MSI doesn't have the code to handle this in a silent install.
I have opened the MSI using Wise installer Pro, and can't see anything strange in it.
Any help/pointers would be a great help
    Thanks,
    -Mark

    Hi,
Just Pro 7.0.0 (I'll integrate the patches to 7.0.9 later)
I'm not keen on an Admin install, as this poses problems when patching (i.e. you have to do a "reinstall=All"). I prefer to integrate released patches into the silent install package, and for subsequent patches, just package them for silent install and push them down to the client.
Reader 8.0 is on the machine only.
The base build contains Reader 8.0, the we deliver a package to the machine to silently install Acrobat Pro 7
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat Pro XI not installing with packager

    Hi all,
Anyone else having a problem with Acrobat Pro XI installing with the CC packager?
We had it originally with a larger install package but there's no .exe for it anywhere.
It shows up in the Add/Remove but can't run it.
Tried creating a separate package with just Acrobat Pro XI and that didn't work either.
We're thinking it might have to do with the existing Adobe Pro 9? Or Adobe Reader?
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks,
    Jeff
