Acrobat Pro 9 distiller no name in rule

I have on my desktop the distiller running. With controlledfolders (hotfolders).
But when I enter a new folder, in the list there will be a new folder but no name behind this.
So when I heve several folders I can't see wich folder it is. Becauese there are no name behind it.
Can someone help me with this.

this is where I convert all my PS to PDF in different folders for different clients.
There is a pitstop server conneted to it. For certified PDF .
But ones in a while, the distiller losses his foldrs and joboptions.
So then I whant to see wich foler is what in de controlled folder list in distiller 9.
But I can see the folder Icons, but not the name's .
I tried to load differend fonts in the system, maybe it is a font problem.
But nothing helped.

  • Acrobat pro 9 - save with name lost format of document.

    Hi all !!
When save with name a document after modify, it lost the format. A lot of words appear broken with a space between two letters:
    Example:
Before " Your instructions were excellent "
After save with name: " Yo ur instru  ctions were excell  ent"
    Why does this happen?
    Thank you for help.

Very likely you have it set to embed the substitute fonts when you do a save as. I just had an issue with one sent to me that if I did a font embed (they were not embedded), the same thing happened. Instead of doing this, I simply printed to a new PDF (lose any bookmarks and such) and got what I wanted with all of the fonts embedded. I suspect your original did not have the fonts embedded and you are seeing the result. You might also check to see if you have Use Local Fonts selected or not, then reverse that selection and see if that helps.

  • Compress tagged PDF from commandline w/ Acrobat Pro X or Distiller

    Hi,
I'd like to use acrobat pro or distiller from the commandline to open a tagged pdf, optimize/compress it, and then close it. It would be helpful to run the accessibility reports this way too, but is not essential. I've read through the distiller API and javascript API and can't find information on how to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated—thanks,
    Jack

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 distiller ICC profile error asks for reinstall

I have Windows XP professional, SP3.
My Systems Administrator recently upgraded my Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 to 9.1.0 and since then I keep getting an error that says: Distiller cannot find its standard ICC profiles. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat to correct this problem.
    This error happens when:
    1. I print to Adobe from a web page (IE 7.0.5730.11 or Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.20)
    2. I try to print to any printer from certain websites, such as the usps.com, where I print all our postage labels from.
    3. Occasionally when I start up the PC.
Sometimes I get the error but it still pdfs the page. Usually, though, it hangs and then Acrobat and the web browser close.
I seem to be able to pdf MS Office 2007 items (Word, Excel) and my Filemaker Pro Advanced 10 records. I guess it's when I'm "printing" to Adobe as opposed to "saving as pdf" that I have this problem.
Acrobat 8 worked fine. My Sys Admin has reinstalled the upgrade twice (after trying a repair which didn't work) to no avail. He can't find any documentation about this error at Adobe, so he's going to uninstall it and switch me back to Adobe 8.
I do all of the pdf'ing of our deliverable documents at my company and I would like to have the latest edition of Acrobat. If anyone knows of anything I can do, please let me know.
    Thanks!
    Stephie

Adobe Tech support was most helpful on this.  First download the updated
    Distiller ICC profile files at:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4075&fileID= 3790
Unzip the file and copy only the *.icc files (without regard to the subfolders that they are in - in other words, take the files out of each of the subfolders) to the followng folder in Windows 7:
    c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color
These new files will probably overwrite some old ones.
This solved the problem for me.
This is actually the best solution though I found that instead of copying all the .icc files to the windows\sys...  folder, all you need to do is copy the 3 Video files from the RGB folder (VideoHD.icc, VideoNTSC.icc, and VideoPAL.icc).  Once you add these three files to  c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color  you will be good to go.
It seems that this was an error on the part of Adobe in that there is no reason to include Video files for printing.  Nevertheless, the distiller will look for these and return the ICC profile error message if those files are not present.

    What is your operating system?
To install/update Adobe Reader or Acrobat you need to supply your computer's Administrator password.

  • .PS file generating a blank PDF after upgrade from Acrobat Pro 7 to 9

    Hi All,
I've searched for this in vain so I'm comming to you now in desperation. My boss has tasked me with tracking down this error and I have to be honest, I'm a little bit green with Acrobat Pro. So coming into the situation I know this. My department used to use a .ps file to build a publication into a PDF from other .ps files. We operate on a network share (the P: drive) on Windows XP SP3 machines with the latest updates.
In Acrobat Pro 7 we could double click the  .ps file which executed the below code through Adobe Distiller and a  finished PFD of the same file name would be output to the host  directory. But now, after upgrading to Adobe Acrobat 9, this process  only produces a PDF with all of the appropriate bookmarks and none of the content.

    An observation -
It looks like you are dealing with files that reflect someone's work with the pdfmark Reference (associated with Distiller).
As with Acrobat Security, JavaScript and the Acrobat SDK the 'how-to' from these all undergo changes with each new Acrobat release.
I suspect that the coding, while adequate for back when Acrobat 7 was new on the street, may have to be updated to comply with what the Distiller provided with Acrobat 9 supports.
Use the link for pdfmark Reference
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/wwdistiller.html
The Acrobat Developer Center ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat.html ) provides a hub to the myriad of "under-the-hood" aspects of Acrobat.

  • Change the .tiff extension to .tif as a default in Acrobat Pro 9?

I work in the legal industry and we use Acrobat all the time to convert PDFs to LZW compressed B&W Tiff for use in trial presentation software. Lately, we've noticed that Acrobat Pro 9 is saving the files with a .tiff extension rather than the .tif extension. The ".tiff" extension might be great for Mac, but we're in a Windows environment and we bought Acrobat Pro 9 for Windows - not Mac. This is a problem because the Windows software that we are using, TrialDirector 5.2, only accepts a .3 extension such as .tif, .jpg, etc.
I've experimented with this issue and can't resolve the matter on a permanent level. It appears to be a random occurrence and I can't tell if it's because some PDF files are optimized and others are not or what the secret formula to this is. Even in a batch process, some will be saved with a .tiff extension and others will have a .tif extension. If I change the extension to .tif in the file name during a "save as" the program will continue to save it that way as long as I don't exit the program. Once exited, you have to open Acrobat again, "save as" ".tif" - it may save it that way, it may save it as .tiff, but after deleting the .tiff files and doing a "save as" or batch process again, it will usually save the files with a ".tif" extension.
Is there a preferences file somewhere in Acrobat or Distiller that can be edited manually, that will keep the extension to ".tif" rather than ".tiff"?
I really want to avoid having to use a bulk rename utility for the thousands of documents we process considering Acrobat 8 didn't have this problem.

Bumping this thread up in hopes that someone will have an answer.
I absolutely hate the fact that Acrobat 9 insists upon using ".tiff" rather than ".tif" under Windows 7.
This creates problems when existing TIFF files are linked to other publications and all I want to do is change some information in the PDF file and re-export, and instead of overwriting the existing .tif file, it creates a .tiff file which is a distinctly different file, and is not the one being linked to.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 Document Properties glitch

    Hi,
When trying to view the document properties in Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 I get the below screenshot. The box is tiny and so small nothing can be viewed. I have to press ESC to close the window. I can only use ALT+SPACE to move  it also.
    PC config:
    Generic Dell Crap Vostro 200.
    Windows XP SP3
CS4 DP - only Acrobat, Distiller, Bridge, Illustrator and Photoshop, no InDesign.
CS5.5 DS - Everything but Acrobat X as it isn't compatible with our plugins and add-ons.
All Adobe software is updated, as is the windows OS. AV is AVG Business.

    Yes, I've tried multiple repairs.
Here is my sysinfo file if it helps. I noticved that some of the plugins were doubled up in their own folder and the plugin fodler, so I removed the apis from the plugin folder...

  • Acrobat Pro 9.3 freezes and locks up computer

Something has gone VERY wrong with Acrobat 9.3 - every time I try to save or print anything, it not only locks up and stops responding but also causes Windows 7 to come to a screeching halt. Sometimes I can recover the Windows 7 crash without rebooting while at other times, I cannot. Right now, I NEED to find out what is causing Acrobat Pro 9.3 to crash. I've tried running all of the updates and nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Help!

When I open Distiller, I go to file>open and then change the file type to "all" - as the file I'm trying to open is a .pdf (which doesn't show up under file name in Distiller). When I try to open the .pdf, it crashes.
Acrobat crashes when I try to save or print a .pdf. It also acts up (sometimes) when I try to change/edit the .pdf. Regardless, if I can't save or print .pdfs, Acrobat is now useless. By "freezing" I mean that Acrobat completely locks up - the title bar (at the top) will often state that it is "not responding" and the window becomes "grayed out." Even worse, is that Windows 7 also comes to a screeching halt - if the computer doesn't completely lock up (meaning that NOTHING WORKS and I have to do a hard reboot by turning off the power), everything becomes VERY slow - it's becomes impossible to change windows and, even if the task manager is already open, I often can't shut down Acrobat 9. In the event that I'm finally able to do that (which is not always possible), then most of the other programs seem to work again.
Another problem that appears to be related is when I try to open up a .pdf in Outlook - that also seems to cause Acrobat to crash/lock up.
Hope this helps as I've done everything I can think of.

  • Lost toolbar (Typewriter) when reinstall acrobat pro 7 (CS2) under Win 7

    Hi There,
Recently, my computer has beed updated to Win 7 from Windows XP. When I reinstalled Acrobat pro 7 (CS2),  toolbar "typewriter" did not show up.
Please help to find out the way to fix it. Thank you very much.

I don't have AA 7 available anymore. It may be that you have a selection of tools that can be made, I don't remember. Without finding a machine with AA 7 on it, I can't help much more on that. As far as the printer, you have to install a PS printer (either from Adobe or maybe a color HP PS printer). Then change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILES. Then, when you print you will be saving to file. The file created must be opened in Distiller to create the PDF. I have tried this on both 332 and 64-bit versions of Win7. There may be other features that vary and I did not do extensive testing. Maybe one of your systems is 32-bit and the other 64-bit and that might cause the problem. Keep in mind that AA 7 is a 32-bit process. You also need to install the updates that are at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/. Apparently you were successful with the installation, though the activation server is no longer available for AA7 -- there is an alternative in that case, but you don't seem to need it.

  • Error (150:30) for Acrobat Pro 9.3 and PS 3 & 4 CS

I just had a very nice call with a support person at the 800 number, but I thought that I would still post my problem in the hopes that it might still help move towards a solution.
I lost use of Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 back in early June when I updated my MAC OS to Lion (OS X 10.7.4). After I upgraded to Lion, Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 stopped working and started giving me a notice saying, "Suite Product Activation Needed".
I unistalled the program and then reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9.3.0 from the orginal Adobe CS 5 Design Standard disk. At that point I found that the reinstall still did not work and had created an additional set of problems. I stopped working on this because I was leaving my main office for the summer and figured that I would survive short term with Adobe Reader. I also figured a patch would present itself given enough time.
Now that I am back, I've found the time to revisit this. I am wondering if I somehow missed an opportunity to fix this because Lion upgraded to Mountain Lion and I upgraded the Mac OS before finding a fix for Acrobat.
I spent most of yesterday working on this and this is what I found:
    1) I cannot not upgrade Acrobat Pro at all. It is stuck on version 9.3.0. This is important because I saw 9.5.2 was released and, if it has a patch, I cannot use it because I can't get back to 9.5.1.
    2) I have been all over the boards looking for a solution. I did find the Support Document #51260 (which phone support directed me to as well). This document, "Error 'Licensing has stopped working'|MAC OS", outlines fixes up through Lion, but has not been updated to Mountion Lion.
    3) From document #51260, I went ahead and downloaded LicenseRecoveryLauncher to have it. The problem, however, is this is a PowerPC app and Mounton Lion no longer supports PowerPC apps.
    4) Because of document #51260, I tried opening my older Photoshop programs from CS 4 and CS 3. I get the same (150:30) notice with Photoshop CS4 ver 11.0.2 and just a notice saying that Licensing has topped working with Photoshop CS3 version 10.0.1.
    5) Since I'm writing this, I find that I am getting the same Licensing notice for Illustartor CS 3 & 4 and In Design CS 3 & $.
    6) The one program that I can use is Photoshop CS 5 Version 12.0.4
As I said earlier, I am wondering if I didn't miss a window of some sort to fix this by not seeing the fix for Lion as described in Document #51260. I am also wondering if the problems are related to the fact the Mac no longer supports PowerPC apps.
Regardless, the problem of not being able to run Acrobat Pro 9 still exists for me and the current fix document does not solve the issue for Mountain Lion. Is there an updated fix that does?
    I am running:
    Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X 10.8.1 (12B19))
PS - I tried downloading Acrobat 9.5.1 and when I click on the installer I get a warning message saying "AcroProUpd951_all" is an application froman unkown source and am I sure that I want to open it. I did open it, but it does not run a program. It takes me to Mac HD/users/My User Name/Documents/Acrobat User Data and then there is nothing to select. I can't even slect the Acrobat Pro Icon in the apps folder. My web browser is Firefow 15.0

  • My PDF presets/joboptions dont work in Acrobat Pro 9.0 - help!

    We just upgraded from CS2 & Acrobat Pro 7 -- to CS4 & Acrobat Pro 9 - Windows.
Previously I would  go here: C:/Documents  and Settings/All Users/Shared Documents/Adobe PDF/Settings to manage my  joboptions. But after my upgrade, when I go to create a PDF from Illustrator, none of my job options are in the pulldown menu.
In the past I could just paste my joboption files in this folder and wa-lah! Now they're in the folder, but I cant use them... Is there a different location I should put them? Are  my old joboptions incompatible with the upgrade? Im having  a hard time finding an answer online. Any advice would be so apprecaited.
    Thanks!

Since AA6, the job options had to be activated in Distiller. It was not a matter of just placing them in a folder. At least that was what I found when upgrading from AA5 to AA6 a long time back. In AA7, this is under the settings menu of Distiller. I have not checked AA8 lately, but as I remember I had to do the same thing there.
