Acrobat pro trial will not install in my vista, why? help!

hi. i'm a vista user and downloaded acrobat trial pro 8.0 today to see if my company needs it, we already have another version in xp. trouble is the installation will not even start. i click the start icon, vista asks me to confirm adminstrator rights, i agree, and then: nothing! in task manager i see that acroPro80_efg.exe freezes at 1520 kt. will not budge. ever. i have a new laptop, 2x512 ram, 2ghz.
tried turning off firewall, tried right clicking (...as adminstrator...): no success. i'm using wacom pen tablet. tried turning that off also, just a random thought. i've not had any problems installing any other programs. my system is clean from viruses and running otherwise perfectly.
please help! i need this trial version to function asap: agreed on a dead line next week... i'm panicking!
anyone smart there awake?

  • Acrobat Pro 10 will not install keeps rolling back

I am attempting to install Adobe Acrobat X on a Windows 7 64 Bit machine, it will not install, gets all the way to the end and then just starts rolling back says the installation was interrupted and that no changes were made to the system.
I ran the msi from the command line with verbose logging on to see if I could figure out where it fails but couldn't find the error (towards the end it lists many errors but it seems to just be a list of possible errors, not sure but I definately have admin right and ran the msi as an admin so at least those two don't make sense).
I don't understand why its not installing but I'm really ticked its not at least telling me why its not installing. I had adobe reader and flash on the computer and I was afraid they might be newer versions than just straight Pro X so I uninstalled everything adobe on the computer and it still won't install the Pro X.
Can someone take a look at my log file and see if they can tell what I'm doing wrong? It would be very appreciated.
    Thanks, SW.

One thought. Have you tried downloading the updates (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows) and installing directly, rather than doing updates through the help menu?

  • Acrobat Pro XI will not install.  Error says: Setup has determined you have a more functional product.

I have Standard XI installed and Pro will not install.  Says Setup has determined you have more functional product.  Setup will now terminate.

It may be that it is seeing the version number and not the product itself. All I can suggest is for you to deactivate and uninstall Std, then install Pro.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended Will Not Install

I have the Adobe Master Collection CS5 installed, but needed to use some Acrobat features which I understood were only available in the Pro Extended version, so am trying now to install Extended onto the PC.
The installation however keeps stopping saying I "already have a more functional product installed" ... Acrobat on this PC is the Pro version, but is not Extended ... is there a way to get it to install without removing the current version and all its settings?

Since you have CS5 master collection installed- it comes with Acrobat 9.3 and Acrobat Pro Extended,
that you are trying to install is version no. 9.0. So when you launch the installer, you get the message that you have
    more recent product already installed.
For installing Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0, you'll have to deactivate and uninstall Acrobat 9.3 and then install Acrobat Pro Extended.

I've tried this process over a half-a-dozen times now and each time the Adobe AIR Installer hangs with a blank window.

IT would appear that the AIR Installer has some significant problems.
Perhaps someone can advise me of a workaround?
Thus far, I am not happy I am looking for other professional PDF products that might actually work

    Hey simong,
Could you please tell me from where have you tried downloading the trial version.
You might try downloading Acrobat XI from the following link:

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro XI will not install.

I bought and paid for it. I was taken to the page with a download now button. It downloaded the installed. I opened it and hit all the OK and Yes buttons. It loads very slowly to about 70% and then stops and gives an Error code# of 1321 which says the installer has insufficient privileges for files that, when I check, don't even exist.

    Hi there xylem,
I'm sorry that you haven't been able to run your new copy of Acrobat. It sounds like you're running into a permissions issue. Please see this document: Error 1321 or 1309 | Install | CS4, CS5, CS5.5 | Windows
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X will not open PDFs

    Hello,
My Adobe Acrobat Pro X will not open PDFs.  This happens twice a month and is becoming extremely irritating.  I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing and a system restore.  What can I do to make this problem go away?
    Thank you.

To check that it is an Acrobat problem, open Acrobat from the programs list and try to open a PDF from the file menu. I suspect this will work fine from what I read into your post. I suspect that somehow your OS is changing file associations. In that case, right click on a PDF and select Open With>Select Default Program and then select Acrobat. Be sure the check box for default program has been checked.

I have paid my subscription for Adobe Acrobat Pro but can not install it… I always get an error message …also I did not receive any instalation code...

With the subscription you sign in with your Adobe ID that you used to order the subscription. By installation code, I assume you mean serial number. You do not get one with the subscription, but use your Adobe ID.

    Q. Contribute  6.5 trial will not install, Mac 10.6.8 ASAdvisor indicates no issues

    Hi Dominic,
My problem is essentially as stated.
I down loaded a trial copy of Contribute 6.5 to my Mac which has 10.5.8
As this will not support Contribute 6.5 I transferred to download, to
    my laptop which has 10.6
It would not install. I wass advised to download Adobe Advisor, which
I did and it reported "no issues"
    How should I proceed?
    Thanks

Scrappy1 what do you mean exactly by doing a scan?
Under Windows 7 you will want to use the Programs and Features Control Panel to remove your installation.  I would recommend verifying that Photoshop Lightroom is removed from the list of installed applications.
