Acrobat Pro X crushes just after opening (Mac OS 10.7.5)

Hi! I just bought Adobe Creative Suite 6, everything is fine but Adobe Acrobat Pro X that crushes immediately after opening. It is updated to the last update and I have Mac OS 10.7.5. Does this problem disappear moving to Maverics?
I had problems from the beginning with Acrobat because it it didn't installed automatically, I had to search for its own .dmg in folders, and as you can see from the attached image I cannot uninstall it either because it is not in the list, is it normal??
Hope you can help me since it is a software I really need!
Thank you, all bests

I think you should ask in the Acrobat forum. This is the Reader one.

  • Acrobat Pro 8 crashes just after launch

I apologize if this has been asked before, I looked and couldn't find it listed anywhere.
Two weeks ago the hard drive in my Intel iMac crashed hard, and now I've had to reinstall all of my software on a new drive. Everything is working fine, except Acrobat Pro 8. I had the program installed on my hard drive before the crash, and it has worked flawlessly for a couple of years, however now, when I boot Acrobat up I get the standard "Getting Started with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional" window, but after a few seconds the program crashes. I've used the "Acrobat Uninstaller" software to uninstall the software, then done a complete reinstall of it, but each time it still crashes- I've completed this procedure 4-5 times at this point, and I still cannot solve it. It does it whether I install it on the startup disk, or the clean empty external hard drive. The Apple Disk Utility gives both drives a clean bill of health when I run "disk repair" and "repair permissions."
I hope someone can help me with this problem. The error report window does not allow the "copy" command to be used, and it would take 10 screen shots or so to be able to include the contents of it. I'm sure hoping someone has the magic answer for me, I NEED my Acrobat to be working right now, in the middle of a design deadline.
Thanks so much for any help.

So, I tried the Licensing Repair Tool and it doesn't do the job. I've used Acrobat Uninstall to uninstall the program several times now, then I re-install Acrobat again. Now when I launch it for the first time it takes me straight to the "Getting Started with Acrobat 8 Professional" screen, bypassing the serial number installation process altogether. For the life of me I cannot figure this out, but it is driving me crazy, not to mention bringing my workflow to a standstill.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • I am trying to re-instal Acrobat Pro on my computer after changing OS and resetting everything. I am using the CC panel for intallation. It shows it installed and won't let me install it.

I am trying to re-instal Acrobat Pro on my computer after changing OS and resetting everything. I am using the CC panel for installation. It shows it installed and won't let me install it. I doubled check everything on my computer and it is not installed. Even more, all my PDF files now show an HTML extension rather that PDF and only opens in my browser, which means the program is not here.
How to re-install it, please, when the CC panel installer won't let me do it? Thanks!

    Try "Pacifist"!
Pacifist is an application for Mac OS X that opens up .pkg installer packages, .dmg disk images, .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .pax, and .xar archives, and more, and lets you install individual files out of them. This is useful if you need to install just one file out of a package instead of the entire package

  • Acrobat Pro 9.3 Crashes when opening multiple files

Acrobat Pro 9.3 Crashes when opening multiple files. I have not seen any solutions in forums that solves this problem. I have just done the most recent update and it still crashes.

Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 (CS5) is doing the same thing on my Windows XP SP3 with 3.5 GB of ram and 206 GB of my brand new 300 GB hard drive free.
It starting doing this at the end of last year before my hard drive died.  Then after rebuilding the entire system on this new drive it worked fine, until I downloaded all the updates and now it is broken again.  Anytime I open more than one PDF, Acrobat crashes.  I send the error report every time.

  • I installed CS6, including Acrobat Pro, now I can't open Acrobat or PDF documents.

I installed CS6, including Acrobat Pro, now I can't open Acrobat or PDF documents. All other CS6 applications are available. The icon for Acrobat just shows the internet explorer icon.

There is a special procedure for Acrobat as part of CS. It goes something like opening one of the other applications and activating, then opening Acrobat (I think the others need to stay open) and activating it. It seems like a strange procedure and is likely documented in your info -- but I can't say for sure.

    Hi davadlaw,
You can install Acrobat on the new PC and use your Adobe ID to activate the software.
The purchased subscription is linked to your Adobe ID.

Hi Spirax, if your new profile works after a restart or two, you may want to start back up in your old profile and use the Reset feature. This is a lot easier than manually copying data to your new profile, although that is another option.

Installed acrobat pro but upon trying to open the program I am directed to a window to purchase on-line version of creative cloud.  What to do?

    Hi Susan,
    Please try the following:
The path listed below points to the Library folder at the root of your startup disk, not the Library folder in your user home folder.
Delete all the files from following folders:
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SL Store/
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SL cache/
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/
Then launch Acrobat, Accept EULA and enter the serial number again and check.

my account is active and paying per month for Acrobat Pro. Why I cannot open files and the screen asks for serial number?

I don't work for Adobe but it seems to me you might be signing in to Acrobat with the wrong Adobe ID.
Check the Adobe ID you use in Acrobat.
Check this Adobe ID on Adobe's to make sure that it has an active subscription.

  • After updating to Acrobat PRO 9.5.2 PDFs open VERY Slowly

I am using Acrobat PRO on a workstation (Windows 7 Ultimate - Service Pack 1)
After updating to Acrobat PRO 9.5.2, all pdf files open VERY slowly (30-60 secs). It does not appear to matter if the file is local to the workstation or on the network. Also the size of the file does not seem to matter or whether this is the first file opened or a subsequent file.
In addition just opening Adobe Acrobat is equally slow.
I have tried turning off the anti-virus software. No impact.
    Any suggestions appreciated...

Have you tried "Repair Acrobat Installation" to see if it makes any difference?  To do this try this:
    Help >> Repair Acrobat Installation.
Another option is to press the shift key while clicking or double clicking on the PDF file to open.  this stops loading all the useless fonts in the document and other useless plugins in acrobat.
The third option is to delete the registry key that appears to be corrupted . However, if you nothing about registry keys, then you can't do it unless your company systems people can help you.  The registry entries are:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Adobe \ Acrobat Reader
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Adobe \ Adobe Acrobat
It is a question of renaming them while you have exited from acrobat.  Once this is done, restart the system and start/launch the acrobat and the fresh keys will be generated.  PLEASE NOTE: DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE HELP OF YOUR SYSTEMS PEOPLE IN YOUR COMPANY.
    Hope this helps.

  • After recent Acrobat Pro ver. 10 & 11 updates:  Mac nor PC "create from scanner" crashes

After installing the most recent Acrobat Pro 11 update to My Mac (running OSX 10.9.1) AND after installing the most recent Acrobat 10 update to my PC (running Win 8.1)- Acrobat Pro now crashes when I attempt to scan.
However, my older desktop, running Acro Pro 9, does not experience this problem.
I have three scanner/ printers and have confirmed they are using the most recent driver and firmware updates.
Have tried scanning with firewall off.
This happens regardless of whether I am connected via WiFi, Lan, or USB.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hi,

    > Go to Acrobat Icon on Finder and then Select the Preferences Option.
    > Under Categories : Go to Accessibility : And then under "Other Accessibility Options" -

    > Also under categories go to > Convert to Pdf > Used TWAIN first > Hit ok > Then close the Acrobat XI Pro and then relaunch the acrobat.
    > Again go to Preferences and under categories go to > Convert to Pdf then select the Image Capture and then hit Ok button.
    > Close acrobat and then relaunch it and see if it Helps you while you do scanning.
    > Would recommend you to check to Scan the pdf when the scanner is connected through wire.
