Acrobat Reader 7.0 und ActiveX in Director

Acrobat Reader 7.0 verfügt nicht mehr über
"pdf.ocx". Leider funktioniert deshalb meine mit Macromedias Director programmierte Anwendung nicht mehr richtig.
Wie kann ich das ActiveX-Modul von Acrobat Reader 7.0 ansprechen?
Warum funktioniert die LoadFile Methode nicht mehr?
Kann ich pdf.ocx trotzdem auf dem System registrieren, auch wenn Acrobat Reader 7.0 installiert ist?

Unfortunately, I've had no response to my post as of yet.
Interestingly, I was playing around with it a little further. I was finally able to get acrobat reader 7 to start but only under the following conditions:
- I created a new user with no files in the home directory
- I logged in remotely via ssh and set my DISPLAY
- I was then able to bring up acrobat reader 7. v8 still hangs right after the GUI comes up.
I tried unset'ing all of the environment variables as my normal user and setting only the ones defined in the working environment above. v7 still would hang.
I tried 'su - newuser' but v7 would still hang.
I tried 'ssh newuser@localhost' and v7 would start.
I tried logging in via ssh as my normal user and v7 hangs.
Again, I'm stuck as to where to go from here.

wie ich aus der Doku entnehmen konnte, kann der Reader mit dem EWH PlugIn wenn er als Browser PlugIn laeuft Fundstellen markieren.
Kann man diese Moeglichkeit auch ohne Browser mit dem Reader als AktivX Control unter VC++ nutzen?
Ich suche dringend eine Moeglichkeit fuer die Anzeige einer PDF-Seite im Reader "on the fly" Fundstellen highlight zu benutzen. Notfalls muesste die PDF Datei mit einer C++ Library eingelesen und korrigiert wieder dem Reader uebergeben werden. Das ist aber zu Aufwendig. Das Acrobat Paket hat eine Fundstellen Schnittstelle ist aber fuer den Einsatz bei jedem Client zu aufwendig bzw. in den Kosten zu hoch.

If you like to print PDF documents, it's not recommended to use the pdf.ocx. This control is not supported by Adobe and doesn't support a real silent printing any more. Since version 5.05 it will always show a confirmation dialog.
If you like to use an ActiveX control for printing PDF documents, you might have a look at PDF PrintController. An online demonstration as well as a demo version is available at http://www.pdfprintcontroller.com.

AktivX Control Acrobat Reader 5.05 und VC++

Hallo,
die Integration des Readers als AktivX Control in ein VC++ Projekt geht mit der Version 5.05 nicht mehr ( 4.0 war noch ok).
Es kommt die Fehlermeldung, das die Datei pdf.ocx nicht goeffnet werden konnte, weil sie keine gueltige TypeBibliothek enthaelt.
Der Fehler ist unter NT4 SP6 und W2K mit
VC++ SP3 und SP5 gleich.
Was haelt eigentlich VB von diesem OCX,
funktioniert das etwas mit VB?
Kennt jemand das Problem?
Zusaetzlich ist der Installer buggy, in der Registry wird das Control mit Verzeichnisnamen, die auf 8.3 Konvention gekuerzt sind teilweise eingetragen. Das funktioniert aber unter NT4 SP6 nicht sauber.

Drucken mehrerer PDF-Dateien mit Acrobat Reader 6

Wenn ich mehrere PDF-Dateien im Windows-Explorer auswähle (z.B. 20 PDF-Dateien) und über das Kontext-Menü ausdrucke (Rechtsklick + Menüpunkt <Drucken>), dann werden nicht alle PDF-Dokumente ausgedruckt. Der Acrobat-Reader wird gestartet und es werden manchmal nur 10, manchmal auch 12 oder mehr PDF-Dateien ausgedruckt. Meistenens aber nie alle. Eine Fehlermeldung erscheint nicht! Das gleiche Problem tritt auf, wenn ich aus einer VB6-Anwendung mit der ShellExecute-Anweisung mehrere PDF-Dokumente hintereinander ausgeben will. Bei der ShellExecute-Anweisung verwende ich die "printto"-Aktion des Dateityps PDF. Das Problem ist bei uns auf mehreren Rechnern nachvollziehbar (WinXP, Acrobat Reader 6.0.2). Mit Acrobat 5 gab es dieses Problem noch nicht. Ich habe bereits geprueft, ob DDE hier eine Lösung bringt: Die DDE-Message <FilePrintToEx> hat aber den Nachteil, dass bei jedem PDF-Dokument, welches gedruckt werden soll ein Dialog vom Acrobat Reader angezeigt wird. Eine DDE-Message <FilePrintToSilentEx>, die den Dialog unterdrückt, existiert leider nicht. Und die DDE-Message <FilePrintSilent> gibt die Datei immer nur auf den Standarddrucker aus und ist damit auch nicht brauchbar. Ist dieses Problem bekannt ? Kann das vielleicht jemand nachvollziehen ? Adobe Acrobat Reader ActiveX Zoom Issue

I can't seem to figure out a way to calculate the current zoom percentage. When the document comes up it's auto sized for width. However I have no way of knowing what the zoom value is. How do I figure out what the current zoom is? I'm using the Adobe Acrobat Reader ActiveX control. I can't use the full version or anything that requires a royalty because this application will be distributed to thousands of clients. So to the vendors that want me to buy their product don't waste your time... Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Aandi,
I reckon that you might be right.
But as side note, maybe Adobe will lose me and others as contributers for her PDF oriented solutions for other formats.
In the long run experts can tell which approach is better: a .Net like approach (no limitations upon development issues for ) or this kind of an approach.

Acrobat Reader 9.1 ActiveX control problems

We have an application written in VB.NET 2005 which displays a PDF file using embedded ActiveX control from Acrobat Reader (using AcroPDF.dll).
The code to open the file is very simple:
Me.AxAcroPDF1.LoadFile(_path)
The application was compiled on the machine that had Acrobat Reader 8 installed and distributed. The users also had Acrobat 8 installed.
Some of the users upgraded to Acrobat 9.1. I understand that it shouldn't really matter as the ActiveX control from 9.1 should be backward compatible.
Yet some users cannot open the file and receive the following error message:
"Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component"
Some other users can open the file but have the following message when closing the application (which calls Me.AxAcroPDF1.Dispose() ):
"The instruction at "0x0700609c" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory could not be "read"."
What can cause those problems? How can I fix them?

OK, no one responsed to my questions but I found answers for them so I thought I might put them here for those interested.
As for "HRESULT E_FAIL" message, all that was wrong was the "Display PDF in browser" option in Adobe Reader preferences. It needs to be ticked. A bit weird but considering that it uses the same OCX in a web browser, it makes some sense.
As for the memory issues message, I need to unload libraries manually before exiting the application (as suggested in some other thread in this forum):

Acrobat Reader ActiveX Control printer selection

Hello,
I'm using the Acrobat Reader ActiveX control in a web page (IE8) to automatically print a PDF document. I don't want to show the preferences dialog box, so I use the "printAllFit" method. This method sends the document to the default printer of the OS.
The problem that I have is that the client uses more than one printer, so I need to change the default printer before the method invocation. But if I change the default printer (manually or programmatically by a custom ocx) the ActiveX is still sending the document to the initial default printer.
I have solved the problem for Acrobe Reader 8 (or lower) by killing the Windows process of the Acobat Reader ("AcroRd32.exe") before a new method invocation, but in Acrobat Reader 9 this process doesn't exist (I think that it is associated to the IE process, and I can't terminate it).
Any idea to solve this problem?

File browser crashes every time browsing directories within Thunderbird and Acrobat Reader

Hello,
I am experiencing a bug. Every time I try to browse directories within application (ex. adding an attachement in Thunderbird, or Savin As within Acrobat Reader), that file borwser crashes.
But for Microsoft Word, which seems to use other module for Saving (I am assuming that, becouse that "save as" window looks different), there is no such problem.
Anybody else is experiencing such crashes?

I would activate Markup tool when I use Acrobat reader Activex.

Is there a way to activate Markup in activex mode or in web browser mode?
I know I can activate Makup tool when i use the full application of Acrobat Reader. But has soon i try to use it has activex mode markup tool are disable.

I have been trying to do this with LabWindows also but the ActiveX Controller made by LabWindows does not seem to work. It works fine from within LabVIEW but this is not much use to me in the long run.

Exporteinstellungen waren aus AI oder ID einfach PDF-X3 oder -X4 oder einfach ”standard”, habe alles mögliche
ausprobiert. Ich habe auch eine .ps -Datei geschrieben und auf den Distiller gezogen = gleiches Problem.
Zu Ebenenpalette: hm, wüsste nicht, was da falsch eingestellt sein könnte...

Installation Acrobat Reader und Flash: Pakete zwischenspeichern

ich möchte die aktuellen Versionen von Acrobat Reader und Flash auf drei verschiedenen PC installieren:
ein PC läuft unter Windows 7 64bit, der zweite unter XP 64bit und der dritte unter XP 32 bit.
Bisher habe ich über einen Installer die Software geladen, z.B. install_reader10_de_mssd_aih.exe
Kann ich die Software auch auf Vorrat herunterladen, auf einen Stick übertragen und dann auf den
genannten PC installieren?

Bekomme beim Öffnen von PDF-Dateien auf bestimmten Webseiten die Meldung Es ist ein Problem mit Adobe Acrobat/Reader aufgetreten. Beenden Sie Adobe Acrobat/Reader und versuchen Sie es erneut. Haben schon den Adobe Reader deinstalliert und neu zu installiert, das Problem tritt aber weiterhin auf. Da Problem scheint aber nur im Browser aufzutreten. Gehe ich zu Adobe Reader > Bearbeiten > Voreinstellungen > PDF im Browser anzeigen und nehme dort das Häkchen raus, funktionierts zwar, aber eben nicht im Browserfenster. Eine Idee was das Problem sein könnte?

Internet Explorer. Das Problem tritt aber nicht immer auf, nur bei einzelnen Websites. Was soll ich an den Sicherheitseinstellungen ändern (habe diese bis jetzt nicht verändert seit ich den Computer habe)?

Aufruf des Acrobat Reader per Shell (VB6)

Hallo, ich möchte aus einem VB-Programm heraus den Acrobat Reader öffnen, um ein pdf-Dokument anzuzeigen, und zwar mit: shell <Acro-Pfad> <Dok-Pfad>, vbNormalFokus. Das funktioniert auch aus dem Visual Studio heraus einwandfrei! Wenn ich allerdings eine exe erstelle und die dann ausführe kommt folgende Fehlermeldung des Reader: 'Acrobat Reader x.y hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beendet werden'. Erweitert: AppName: acrord32.exe AppVer: 6.0.1.1091 ModName: acrord32.exe ModVer: 6.0.1.1091 Offset: 000264e5. Dabei ist es egal, welche Reader-Version ich verwende. Ansonsten kann ich den Reader öffnen, auch mit einem Dokument, welches ich ihm aus dem Programm heraus übergebe. Alles funktioniert, bis auf eben den Aufruf aus der exe heraus selbst! Ich habe es auch schon in allen erdenklichen Kombinationen mit Installation, Deinstallation, Neustart, etc probiert. Für Anregungen jeder Art bin ich sehr dankbar. mfg Axel
