Acrobat update from 8.0.0 to 8.1.4

I am doing an Enterprise update of our Adobe Acrobat 8.0.0 Standard and Professional installs to bring them up to the 8.1.4 vesion.  I have read elsewhere that it is possible to string the MSP's together on a single MSIEXEC command, but I have 5 patches to install.  The go from 810 up to the 814 patch.  Has anyone done this before and if so are there any gotchas in the process?  When I manually install the patches one by one the 810 patch asks if I want to reboot now or later and the other patches don't.  Do you know if a reboot is needed before continueing on to the next patch or can they all be bundled together like this.
msiexed /p 810.msp;811.msp;812.msp;813.msp;814.msp REINSTALLMODE=omus REINSTALL=all REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS /qn
This is basically the command line that I am using to do the update.
Thanks for the help

1. What version of iPhoto do you have? (iPhoto Menu -> About iPhoto)
2. Where is iPhoto? For an updater to find it the app must be in the default location, that is the HD/Applications folder and no where else - including not in a sub-folder in applications.
3. The Application must not be renamed in any way.

  • Updating from Acrobat 6.0.2

I would like to update from Acrobat 6.0.2, and just downloaded Acrobat Pro 9.
I don't seem to be able to access it, and wonder if I have to go numerically through
all the updates that I never did to get to 9?  Thanks for your help!

What version of of OSX do you have?
6.0.2 works on up to X.3.9.
Version 9.0 works only on X.4.11 and up.
You don't update to Acrobat 9.
    You must Purchase Acrobat 9.
Adobe might give you a discount if you give them your current serial number to verify you own a previous version.

  • Adobe Updater overloads data line while updating from Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 to 8.1.3

    Hello
I'm from germany but I'm doing my best to get you understanding me.
I'm experiencing some problems updating Adobe Reader from version 8.1.2 to 8.1.3 in our company. Our users have no administrative rights on their PCs and therefore are not able to install any update manually. That's why I want to use the Adobe Updater.
We're also using a proxy which doesn't allow our users to download any *.exe files. I configured Adobe Updater to search for Adobe Reader updates once a month.
But then from time to time our data line was fully overloaded. When I checked the logfiles of our proxy I mentioned that Adobe Updater tried to reach ardownload.adobe.com for more than 1500 times in only 3 hours from only 1 PC. This means that nearly every 7 seconds ardownload.adobe.com has been contacted by one PC. When I deactivated Adobe Updater the problem was solved. So it seems to me, that Adobe Updater is the reason why our data line get's more and more loaded by this update function.
What is happing during the discovery of available updates and wherefore does Adobe Updater tries to download the same file for more than 1500 times? Does anyone have an answer to this? If you have any proposal to solve this problem I would be glad if you answer me. And let me add that I don't want to grant our users access for downloading .exe files :-)
    Thanks so much
    Macke

The latest release of the Adobe Updater has fixes for networking with proxy servers. If you aren't running the latest (because it can't connect), you can manually download and then install the Adobe Updater for Reader & Acrobat 8 from the URLs below.

Acrobat Pro won't update from 10.1.6 to 10.1.7, any tips, on Mac…?

    One of two things:
    1.  Go to the Terminal App and type the word "sudo" and hit the Enter/Return key.  If it comes back with a permissions error then seek from Apple to correct it.
    2.  If there is no permissions error in the Terminal app then go to the installation log at "/var/log/install.log" or "/private/var/log/install.log".  Open it up and see if you find an error about failing to write to the file:
./postinstall: Error in converting the plist /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.PDFAdminSettings.plist to xml1 format
If you get the error above then delete the file at the location and try updating again

  • Updated from Acrobat 5 to 7, seems to do far less. Need help.

I just "updated" from Acrobat Standard 5 to 7, but I guess I wasted my money. It doesn't seem to do half of what 5 did! Some upgrade!
Ok, now that I've vented, please tell me there's a way to select objects to delete them. I've tried the "Object Data Tool" and the "Select Object Tool," one of which you'd think would do the trick, but no. I tried clicking on the objects, I tried drawing a box around them, it acts as if there's nothing there. It won't select anything.
v7 apparently doesn't allow you to create or edit forms either, which 5 did! How is going backwards an update???

I have Acrobat Standard 7,  not pro. But my v5 was not pro, and it did forms.
It also had no problem working with objects, the way this one seems to.
I've uploaded the file to a place where you can have access to it, it's a publication called the Humor Times:
    http://www.humortimes.com/images/1010.pdf
    Thanks for taking a look.

Running into the same issue over here. It seems like it has to do with applying a transform to the installation, so it could be related with a particular setting put in place using the Adobe Customization Wizard.
It's really kind of hit or miss, because it appears to affect those with previous versions of Acrobat or Reader installed, but that isn't always the case.
Had this happen to systems that haven't had any sort of Adobe product installed prior.
It's always the same thing too. Error 1603 is spit out after it can't remove select files in C:\Windows\Installer
After digging through the system, the files that it's looking to delete aren't even there to begin with.

  • Do I have to install acrobat updates in sequence?

I choose to disable Acrobat automatic updates and install them manually.  I find the end users don't install updates and usually ignore the acrobat updates icons.
The only issue is that I'm not able to install the latest updates unless I go through each previous update first.  For example I have Acrobat 11.0.0 from DVD and I want to update to 11.0.9 but it fails unless I install 11.0.1, 11.0.2, 11.0.3 and so on. This seems silly. To bring Adobe Acrobat up to date I will have to install over 900MB of patches.
Do the updates need to be applied in sequential order?
    Thanks

The way it works if you just did a normal installation from the default installation file is as follows:
    - The base installation 11.0.0
    - The latest Quarterly Update (11.0.09 at this time)
    * Note:  If there are Security Updates between the Quarterly Updates then you need to apply those but as soon as the next Quarterly Update comes out you are back to first and last.

  • Associating my current PDF files to Acrobat 10 from Acrobat 9

I am here in the forum because the stinkers at Adobe Tech Support said they could only help with CURRENT products. That's poor customer service.  I'm needing to point all my PDF files to my new Acrobat X Standard that I installed.  I removed the Acrobat 9.0 but when I go to Control Panel --> Default Programs --> Set Associations, and I choose .pdf and then click Change Program -- I do not see Acrobat X as an option to point my files to.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Update:  I finally got it done by searching on google.  You can open the Acrobat program, go to Edit --> Preferences --> General and click the Select Default PDF Handler button and designate it that way.

    Hi orrery66 ,
Thank you for posting on the Adobe forums. Yes, the way you chose it is also a way to select the file association for it.
However, you can also set the file association by, choose the file>Right click>Open with>choose default program>select Acrobat from the list.
If, Acrobat is not in the list, click browse and select Acrobat.ex from the install directory (E.G.C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat)
    Thanks,
    Vikrantt Singh

  • Pdf displayed as unknown filetype after acrobat update

I have installed 2 updates for Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional today, and after the first one my pdf files have become unknown file types. When I try opening My Computer - Tools - Folder options - File types, locate pdf and try connecting Adobe Acrobat 8 as the default program, nothing happens. That is, I am able to locate acrobat.exe, but when I press 'OK' it doesn't appear in the list of programs as it should.
If I open Acrobat and from there open a pdf file, it works fine. But it still won't recognize the pdf file type the other way around.
The updates I installed were 8.1.3 and 8.1.4, although the problem started after the 8.1.3 update. Actually, after restarting the PC and being almost finished with this update, I got an error message saying that the install was unsuccessful, but no error code or any indication as to what had gone wrong. I then opened Acrobat and searched for updates from the Help menu, and I was told that it found the 8.1.4 update. I installed it, this time without any errors, but the problem still persists.
Any ideas? I have of course restarted my computer.

Yes, and the same thing happens as if I go to My Computer: I have to browse for the program, as it does not appear in the standard programs list. I browse to Program Files - Adobe - Acrobat 8.0 - Acrobat, and locate the file acrobat.exe. When I press 'OK', Acrobat is still not displayed in the "Programs" list, and nothing happens, the file is still unknown.
I did some checking in the Event Viewer, and found that right before my first update displayed the failed-error, there were 4 errors from some old Acrobat 6 updates that for some reason was still installed in the system (although Acrobat 6 itself has been removed). So I uninstalled the Acrobat 6 updates, restarted the computer, searched for additional updates for Acrobat 8, found 8.1.5, installed this and restarted the PC once more. No luck this time either..

  • What is the Adobe Acrobat Updater PDF Repair Setup Computer Freeze Solution?

I'm using CS4 Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.
The Adobe Acrobat Updater keeps urging me to upgrade to Acrobat 9.3.3.  When I attempt to do so, I get a Repair Setup screen saying, "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair.  Select the optional components you would like to repair and click Continue.  Deselect a component to completely remove it.  Click Cancel to cancel the component repair process."  The Adobe PDF Printer is shown with a checkbox next to it.
At this point, the check box next to the Adobe PDF Printer, the Cancel button, and the Continue button are all not operable.  The whole update process becomes frozen.  Even a Force Quit will not remove the updater from the screen.  The only way to get rid of it is with a restart.
This keeps happening over and over again and is becoming annoying.
How can this problem be resolved?
    Please advise.
    Thanks!
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Mac OS 10.5.8

Look to see if something similar to:
Adobe PDF or Adobe quality PDF when you go to the print menu and click on PDF.
http://screencast.com/t/MWI0M2Q1M here is expample of what you see in OSX.4.11
5 and 6 should have a choice of adobe pdf or adobe quality PDF.
IF it does delete the AdobePDF Print driver from Printer Utility and use this.
    read this:
http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php although it has to do with Snow leopard it does alos mention X.5.8. as well.
Try repairing acrobat installation  then running the installer if it gets stuck 've run out of suggestions other than remove Acrobat all together evrything you can find anywhere on the computer (except your PDF and start from scratch. upgrading from 9.0 through each of upgradeds.

  • Can you help complete the Adobe Acrobat update installation?

The Adobe Acrobat Update Installation has been going on for hours. Can you please complete the installation?

My image is a screenshot saved to my desktop.
When the install fails, this is the message I get:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation.
Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again.
    Error: 1301"
When this happened once before your tech had me work with the root user on my computer.
Today I went to the Error 1301 site and followed the directions: (System Preferences, Account Login, Login Options, and Join for Network Account Server; when the Directory Utility opened, I unlocked the Directory Utility  window, chose Enable Root User from the Edit menu, but couldn't accomplish the next step in the directions: "Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields".

  • Armsvc.exe (Adobe Acrobat Update Service) breaks Internet Connection

I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI. Whenever the process "armsvc.exe" running, my Internet Connection became "Limited", then after a few seconds, my Internet Modem restart automatically, then "Limited" again then Restart again...
I have to end this process via the Task Manager and my Internet Connection now works normally.
I cannot find out the reason . Please tell me how to fix it. Thanks!

Disable to updates service and simply download the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. For XI, you can jump right to 07 update.

    Try the following:
uninstall any current Reader version using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
download and run the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Make sure you run both uninstaller & installer when logged in as an Administrator user.
