Acrobat Updater

Hi. I have installed both Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat XI on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.4), but continue to get an Acrobat Updater pop up asking if I want to update to 8.3.1. How to I get rid of this updater? Thanks.

Hi aliday2 ,
Thank you for posting on the Adobe forums, please make sure that you have no left overs for Acrobat 8 in the system.
Kindly remove all the folders related to Acrobat 8 and it should not prompt you to update.
Thanks,

  • Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed

When I try to update my copy of Adobe Reader, I get
Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
This occurs even when I run the install program with "Run as Administrator".
And it occurs for release 11 and the older release 10.
How do I get around this problem?

  • Do I have to install acrobat updates in sequence?

I choose to disable Acrobat automatic updates and install them manually.  I find the end users don't install updates and usually ignore the acrobat updates icons.
The only issue is that I'm not able to install the latest updates unless I go through each previous update first.  For example I have Acrobat 11.0.0 from DVD and I want to update to 11.0.9 but it fails unless I install 11.0.1, 11.0.2, 11.0.3 and so on. This seems silly. To bring Adobe Acrobat up to date I will have to install over 900MB of patches.
Do the updates need to be applied in sequential order?
    Thanks

The way it works if you just did a normal installation from the default installation file is as follows:
    - The base installation 11.0.0
    - The latest Quarterly Update (11.0.09 at this time)
    * Note:  If there are Security Updates between the Quarterly Updates then you need to apply those but as soon as the next Quarterly Update comes out you are back to first and last.

  • Installed latest Acrobat Update to 8.2.1 and now I can't print PDFs

I recently installed the latest Acrobat update to go to Acrobat 8 Professional 8.2.1.  Now I can no longer print PDFs.  Also when I look at the list of printers it shows "AdobePDF (Copy1)" plus many more copies (see picture below).  I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.  How do I resolve this problem?

I was having the same issue. Supposedly, Acrobat 8 and Win 7 aren't compatible. I then tried the following steps and it seems to work.
    1. Right click on the Acrobat 8 icon and scroll down and select properties.
    2. A pop up box will appear. click on the compatibility tab.
    3. Check the box in compatibility mode and select windows XP (Service Pack 3), then at the bottom of the box, click on the box next to Run this program as administrator.
    4. Click apply then ok.
Let me know if this works for you. Good Luck!

  • Acrobat Updater plug-in fails to install

I'm running Mac OS 10.4.11 on Mac G5 Quad, 6.5GB RAM, and whenever I run the Adobe Updater for my CS3 programs, I get a dialog box that says, "A new version of the Adobe Updater is available for installation. Click OK to install it now.", so I do, and it downloads and starts to mount a dmg or something, then I get an error message, "Adobe Acrobat Updater plug-in failed to install.", so I never know if it updated the rest of the Suite or not, can't find any info about this. Has anyone found the answer to this? Thanks! :)

    Hi Meisha,
I have had the same problem for months now and cannot figure out how to solve this. I have seen another discussion with the same topic "Adobe Acrobat updater plug-in failed to install" but am unable to reply to the discussion for some reason. I'm new to using the forum.
Someone in that discussion (Donald Raymond) posted a command, but I don't understand how to effect the command nor how to reach him to ask him to clarify. The discussion link is here:
I wish that Adobe would address this issue and give a valid solution. Otherwise, I'm unable to update my CS3 products on Mac OS. I also tried to install a download of a new Adobe update manager, but that didn't solve the issue.
I hope someone can help us!

  • What is the Adobe Acrobat Updater PDF Repair Setup Computer Freeze Solution?

I'm using CS4 Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.
The Adobe Acrobat Updater keeps urging me to upgrade to Acrobat 9.3.3.  When I attempt to do so, I get a Repair Setup screen saying, "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair.  Select the optional components you would like to repair and click Continue.  Deselect a component to completely remove it.  Click Cancel to cancel the component repair process."  The Adobe PDF Printer is shown with a checkbox next to it.
At this point, the check box next to the Adobe PDF Printer, the Cancel button, and the Continue button are all not operable.  The whole update process becomes frozen.  Even a Force Quit will not remove the updater from the screen.  The only way to get rid of it is with a restart.
This keeps happening over and over again and is becoming annoying.
How can this problem be resolved?
    Please advise.
    Thanks!

    Mac OS 10.5.8

Look to see if something similar to:
Adobe PDF or Adobe quality PDF when you go to the print menu and click on PDF.
http://screencast.com/t/MWI0M2Q1M here is expample of what you see in OSX.4.11
5 and 6 should have a choice of adobe pdf or adobe quality PDF.
IF it does delete the AdobePDF Print driver from Printer Utility and use this.
    read this:
http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php although it has to do with Snow leopard it does alos mention X.5.8. as well.
Try repairing acrobat installation  then running the installer if it gets stuck 've run out of suggestions other than remove Acrobat all together evrything you can find anywhere on the computer (except your PDF and start from scratch. upgrading from 9.0 through each of upgradeds.

  • Can you help complete the Adobe Acrobat update installation?

The Adobe Acrobat Update Installation has been going on for hours. Can you please complete the installation?

My image is a screenshot saved to my desktop.
When the install fails, this is the message I get:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation.
Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again.
    Error: 1301"
When this happened once before your tech had me work with the root user on my computer.
Today I went to the Error 1301 site and followed the directions: (System Preferences, Account Login, Login Options, and Join for Network Account Server; when the Directory Utility opened, I unlocked the Directory Utility  window, chose Enable Root User from the Edit menu, but couldn't accomplish the next step in the directions: "Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields".

    Try the following:
uninstall any current Reader version using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
download and run the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Make sure you run both uninstaller & installer when logged in as an Administrator user.

  • Adobe Acrobat Update Service

    Hello,
we have a problem with the service "Adobe Acrobat Update" (AdobeARMservice). We observe that sometimes to open a PDF Document needs more time while the service is running, as the same Document needs while the servcie is disabled. for example 30 seconds while service is running to 2 seconds while its disabled.
Did you noticed the same issue, or have a solution?
Notic: It is not the Virusscan-issue (McAfee) this is fixed.
    Best regards.

It is highly unlikely that this Service can cause the delay.
Here is what we can do to rule it out-
    1. Please enable full verbose MSI logging on this system (Google for the instructions)
    2. Enable Adobe Reader Updater verbose logging -
In the registry below set iLogLevel   DWORD value to 1.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM (if you have 32bit OS)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM (if you have 64bit OS)
    3. Delete AdobeARM.log file from User %Temp% folder
    4. Open your PDF document, wait for ~40 seconds
If you confirm the delay in loading PDF, collect AdobeARM.log file and latest file called MSIxxxx.log (if exists) from User Temp folder, Zip them and e-mail to me - please do not post content here - they could be big.

  • I keep getting Adobe Acrobat Updater message. I am using 9.5.2. Keep getting this message(see below)

"Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe Web site."
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Alan

As Bill suggest, update Acrobat manually. Here are the settings to disable Auto Update.
    Lauch Acrobat.
Click on "Edit" -> "Preferences" -> Updates (on the right side of the panel).
Select the radio button "Do not download or install updates automatically".
    Click on "OK".

  • Acrobat Updater Error 1300

    Hi,
I have Adobe Acrobat Std 9.2 installed on an Acer tablet running Windows 8 Professional. When I attempt to install the 9.5.4 update, I receive the following message: "Cannot install the update. Please run Adobe Acrobat Repair. Error: 1300"
I have already tried installing the Adobe Acrobat Updater and removing and completely reinstalling Acrobat Standard on the tablet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can not typically update in one step, but by installing each update up to where you are going to end. It is not clear how you are trying to update. The typical was is from Help>Updates in Acrobat. If there are more than one, install them in order. I am not that sure what you will see since I typically download the updates separately. However, I think that what you are offered with this approach are typically cummulative sets that skip some of the downloads I indicate below.
You can also download the updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (similar for MAC). In the latter case you need to install each update in order unless the download indicates otherwise (you should be able to skip 9.3.1&4 and 9.4.1&3&4&7 - easy to check by starting at the top and checking prior versions required). After each update you can generally continue and only reboot after the last one.
I suspect this multiple update issue is the problem you are having.

The Acrobat updater keeps on asking me for a password, but it does not accept my Apple ID or my Adobe password. What password do you folks want?

I'm guessing it needs a password to update your system - that is, the administrator password. Most software needs this when you install it.
This is the password you (or someone) chose when you first switched on your computer.

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded...

This message pops up every 3 days and I don't know why. How do I get rid of it?
"Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? Safari downloaded this file on October 19, 2009."

There is a description of the solution on the Adobe website here:

In summary, open the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file and change
