Acrobat X Pro: "mobile link" only on Reader?

I have Acrobat X Pro and don't see the feature for "mobile link"
same as unanswered similar discussion
How can I use Adobe "mobile link" from within Acrobat X Pro?
but for eventually linking the files from browser
Is this feature only avaiable on Reader?
Is it on Acrobat XI Pro?
Can one set the file synchronization on mobile equipment only when on WIFI?
thanks
stefano

After beating the bushes it appears the Mobile Link is exclusive to the "XI" product family.

• How to setup a four page PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to print only one of four pages?

Hello,
I have a request from a end-user to setup a four page PDF in Adobe Acroat 9 PDF to only allow printing of one specific page of the four page PDF.
The end-user will abe able to view the four pages in the PDF - however - the PDF would only allow printing of one page.  The PDF would need to be pre-set for the end-user.  Is there a setting Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to allow this type of specific pre-set printing.
I appreciate your help.  I hope to hear from you soon.

No, Acrobat can't do that.

• Form Creation in Acrobat X Pro - unable to save as Reader Extended PDF

I am using Acrobat X Pro on the Windows 7 OS. I have created a document in Word (Office 2010), saved it as a PDF and added form fields. When I try to Save As Reader Extended PDF, the options are grayed out. How do I create a form from a Word document that allows all end users to be able to type in the fields, use a digital signature, save a copy and print the PDF with the completed fields?

In create the document in MS Word and save the file. Then I select print, and choose Adobe PDF as my printer to save it as a PDF. I then open the PDF file and select Tools, Forms, to create the form and add fields as needed. After I'm finished, I attempt to "Save As" and try to select Reader Enabled PDF, but the options are grayed out and unavailable.

• Tried to upgrade Acrobat 9 Pro, somehow got saddled with Reader X

Just what is says on the tin: I've been schtucked by the updater. Grrrr.
So what I need to know is:
Whom do I notify that they have a bad routine in the updater
How do get back to Acrobat Pro, of whatever version I'm entilted to as a CS5 owner.
I'm sorry if that's terse, but bushwackings like this torque my nuts. Nevermind all the laps I ran around the support sight looking for help, and getting very little; Can't even figure out how to open a ticket, when I can see I've done so before.
Not good customer servince, I dare say.
[coughs] Thanks in advance.

Very much the response I feared.
Where should I look for said logs, and where do I upload them to?
It's worth noteing I "fixed" the issue myself by going to a Restore Point made about an hour prior to this malfunction; While I now have my Acrobat 9(.4.6) back, Reader X is still be on the system, and wants the file associations.
I've since patched manually to 9.4.7, and wonder if there's a "higher" version I could go to … Without, you know, breaking Pro again.
Thanks again.

• Acrobat 9 Pro: Extended features in Abobe Reader and users can't resave form

Hi all,
I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in order to be able to convert existing Word docs into "type-able" PDF forms. After sending one of the forms to a coworker, we discovered a big issue. She was able to input data and save the form - once. She is unable to edit any of the data she saved or add to any of the fields she didn't fill out. (FYI, she is using Adobe Reader 8)
When I view the security settings for the form Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 it states "filling of form fields - allowed". When you initially open the form in Reader it states the same. If you input data and save the form, and then reopen it, a popup message appears:
This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.
Additionally, the security now states "filling of form fields - NOT allowed". Users completing these forms won't always have all of the data they need at their disposal, so the form is quite simply useless if you can only enter and save it once. We can't even save it with a different file name.
Is there anything I can do so that users who are viewing / adding to the forms I create can go back to edit form fields after they've saved the form?
Thank you,
Colleen Caldwell

Same thing happened to me.
A form that used to work fine, wont let me input any data anymore.
I just received the following message:
"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
I reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader again, deleted temporary files, restart the computer and even downloaded again the form, which I saved with different name and continues saying same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

• Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro  - URL Links

When links in a document wrap due to column width, how does one prevent the link to only use the first line? Specifically, in the following the link is actually "http://www.myscacc.org/Newsletters/0806News.pdf"
But only the first line of this is active.
http://www.myscacc.org/
Newsletters/0806News.pdf

I have been successfully adding links using the link tool in the newsletter for several months. I have posted the main problem at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5fdc2
I had this same problem many months back when I first updated to Acrobat Pro 8. Someone responded with the setting that needed to be changed so that the "invisible" lines were truly invisible.

• I have connected an external hard drive to my new macbook pro.  I only have read access.  How do I copy folders to the external hard drive?

I have a new Macbook pro retina.  I have connected a WD external hard drive, but have only read access.  I want to back up my computer, and have the ability to archaive files.  Any suggestions?

I have connected a WD external hard drive, but have only read access.
As ds store already pointed out, if the drive is formatted as NTFS, you can't write to it. Fortunately, the fix is easy, just erase the hard drive using Disk Utility as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
I want to back up my computer, and have the ability to archaive files.  Any suggestions?
Backups and archival backups are not necessarily the same thing. An archival backup is to be kept indefinitely far into the future, and should never be changed after it is created. That does not mesh well with being on the same drive as a backup maintained day-to-day. Ideally, archival backups should be written to one drive - possibly multiple backups, but each one should never be touched after it is written - and other backups should be maintained with greater frequency on one or more other drives.
You can get a bit of compromise with an incremental backup, like what Time Machine does. That will keep old data as long as there's still free space on the drive, then will start removing the oldest copies of files to make space for newer stuff when necessary. Another alternative is the way Carbon Copy Cloner does incremental backups, where the data keeps piling up until the drive is full and then the backups fail until you remedy the situation. (This could allow you to fill up a drive and then put it on a shelf as an archival backup and start a new backup on a new drive.)
If you can specify more what you want to do, we can advise you better.

• Creating PDFs using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and can only see the first 10 pages in PDF even when the page numbers on bottom state 10 of 13 (or any number greater than 10).

PDFs create great, unless they should be over 10 pages and then it appears the data was converted to PDF by viewing the page numbers at the bottom of the PDF but you can only view the first 10 pages in the pdf file.

Hi stephaniec0103,
Could you please let me know what exact dot version of Acrobat 9 and OS you are using.
Have you tried repairing Acrobat from the Help menu?
Acrobat 9 is an older version and incompatible with new OS versions, so I would suggest you to try using Acrobat XI (latest version) and check for the same.
You may download a 30-day free trial version of Acrobat from the below mentioned link:

Let me know how it goes.

• I can't open documents in Acrobat 5.0 anymore, but only in Reader.

It is not a question of newer PDFs not being supported by 5.0, as I could open the same documents yesterday in 5.0.  Am I paranoid to suspect Adobe has put something in my system to force me to upgrade?  Acrobat 5.0 has been fine for my rather simple needs.

That is one of the many problems that folks who install both Reader and Acrobat have (it's not recommended or suported by Adobe).
You need to quite out of Reader in Task Manager first.

• How secure is redaction in adobe acrobat x pro? Can text be read once redacted?

Your experience in this field will be much appreciated.

• Acrobat 9 Pro: Links to Word TOC and cross references are lost

I'm testing Acrobat 9 Pro and while it successfully creates a PDF from Word 2003 with bookmarks, all my TOC and internal page reference links are lost.
I have triple checked the conversion settings from the Adobe PDF menu option in Word, and the "Convert cross-references and table of contents to links" check box is definitely selected.
I used the same Word document on another machine with Acrobat 6 Pro installed - and the TOC and cross ref links were created successfully. As far as I can see the Adobe PDF settings in Word 2003 on both machines are the same - the only difference is that one uses Acrobat 6 Pro and the other uses Acrobat 9 Pro.
The only setting in 9 Pro I turned off was the 'enable accessibility tagging' one; it's also turned off in 6 Pro. The remaining settings are the default.
A clickable TOC and internal links is essential for my clients who often have 400+ page documents.
Anybody have any suggestions? Or can anybody confirm that they do/don't get the same behavior in Acrobat 9 Pro?

Thanks Abhigyan - your test PDF worked fine for me.
This is what I've done today:
1. Checked for all instances of pdfm*.dot files and removed any that were lurking in old Application Data and Microsoft Office folders.
2. Deleted all Acrobat 5 and 6 folders and subfolders still lurking in Program Files.
3. Used Add/Remove to delete Adobe Reader 8 and its updates. I figure I can always install Reader 9 if I need it as a separate app.
4. Checked that everything was gone using the Windows Installer CleanUp utility (it was).
5. Restarted my machine.
6. Turned off my anti-virus software.
7. Did a search for any pdfm*.dot files - found one only in the current Microsoft Office folder and left it there.
8. Reinstalled Acrobat 9 Professional.
9. Opened my test Word 2003 document.
10. Checked all the Acrobat conversion settings and left them as the defaults.
11. Converted the doc to PDF and checked for internal links. Yes! The TOC links worked! But my joy was short-lived as the page link didn't work...
12. Tried various other conversion settings based on some suggestions from Lance in first level Adobe Support yesterday - still no page link. And I also lost the TOC links when I cleared the Enable Accessibility check box on the Settings tab of the conversion settings.
13. Checked the Edit > Preferences > Convert To PDF settings for Word in Acrobat 9 - add bookmarks and add links are both selected (default).
14. Used Acrobat 9 to create the PDF (File > Create > From File) hoping that this might might a difference. Nope. No TOC or page links.
15. Changed conversion settings back to default via Word 2003, and created a PDF from a longer document. Again the TOC links worked, the URLs worked (they always did), the bookmarks worked (they always did too), but the none of the internal page cross-reference links worked.
So my summary is this:
* I can only create TOC links *if* Enable Accessibility is turned on, but I have always turned this off in earlier versions of Acrobat as I don't need it and it made the process of creating a PDF from a long document incredibly slow - I'm wary of using it!
* I cannot get internal page links to work at all, no matter which method I use to create the PDF (from within Word or within Acrobat), and no matter which conversion settings I select.
I really don't know what to try next. Manually creating links for what could be hundreds of cross-references in a single document is NOT an option, especially as I have many of these long documents.
Any further suggestions?

Why can I not use mobile link in reader on window Vista?

Hi sze wing,
Please tell us a bit more--what do you mean by "cannot use"? Do you get an error message? Or are files not syncing as you expect?
Have you double-checked to make sure that Mobile Link is on? Please see Acrobat Help | Mobile Link: open once, read anywhere for instructions on enabling Mobile Link, if it isn't already enabled.
If it is enabled, and things still aren't working as expected, please let us know what issue you're facing, including any error messages.

• Pdf form created in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not function properly when viewed by Reader

Hello all-
I have created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have an issue because when others view the form in Adobe Reader some of the functions do not work- such as the attach a file button I created, or the save, print buttons (all are execute a menu item). These work on my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended but not on Reader.
I have tried saving many different versions- with security (password) and made sure to allow printing and commenting, editing, digital signatures etc...
Without any security...
Even tried extending features in Adobe Reader!
The response from others is that it all works, except the ATTACH A FILE button- when they click on it it compresses, but, nothing happens!
I don't know what else to do! (I guess people could just attach things to the e-mail that is generated from the submit button, but worried people might forget at that step once they are past that section on the form and they jump to email to submit).
Help please!
A.

I've already extended the rights and made sure to save to activate that... as well as password protected the docs etc... still nothing...
I am aware that those with Basic Adobe Reader need rights extended to be able to use functions available to Adobe Pro.
