Activating Update Rules in BW Production Systems? How

How do we activate Update rules in Production systems?
As we dont have the activate button high lighted in update rules.
Urgent.

Hi,
Since the production system is not chnagable you will will not get the activate button. you can only see the updaterules in display mode.
You should activate the update rule in the Dev environment and capture the same in a transportable request and transport the same to Production environment.
If it is very urgent and the transport from Dev would take time. You can as the basis to open the productyion client from tcode scc4, once the procuction client is open you will be able to activate the update rules in production system itself.

Hi Gurus,
I have problem when transporting in productive system an existing ODS & the update rule linked. The message is : "Error when activating update rule".
This is when i move one field from the key to a simple field of the ODS.
Before transporting requests, i deleted data in the ODS by right-click on ODS --> Request tab --> select the request --> click on delete....
I don't understand because i did the same in Qual environment and everything is OK : transport request & ODS loading...

Please try to check/perform the following steps:
1- You must ensure for the update rule have mapping between infosources
   and ODS/CUBEs correct, this means that also these objects need
   to be of the same version in the source system of the transport as in
   target system.
2- Please ensure all infoobjects in the cube are active.Please
   reactivate all the objects again in source system.
3- Ensure all infoobjects are found in the communication structure.
4- Please try to collect the update rule via BW transport connection
   with the grouping option "only necessary objects" and then transport
   those objects again.
Could you please reactivate the infocube and its update rules again
and then create a new transport for this infocube and transport it
again.

Error when activating update rule

HI BI Expert,
The original transfer rule for 2LIS_11_VAITM was deleted accidently and I created new one and mapped with the existing infosource. The system always generates the following error at the time of transport to another client.
Error when activating update rule D1GOAPD9O0P9CFOY8KBSOUDFA
Activation of the update rules for ZO_SOP_1 ZT_SOP_SALO_ITM
IC=ZO_SOP_1 IS=ZT_SOP_SALO_ITM error when checking the update rules.
Would you kindly be able to suggest me what steps I need to take so as to correct this issue?

Hi,
When you say that update rule was accidently deleted, was that attached to transport request and transported to your QA & PRD at that time.
Because it may happen that, your old rules are still there in QA & PRD and the new rules are failing to overwrite that.
If it is the case, then you may have to open the client for QA & PRD and delete the existing update rule (doesnt sound good practice though), and then create a fresh update rule and transport.

Error when activating update rule after transporting to QA

Hi,
When we transport Info cubes and update rules along with Process chains. There are the following errors in Transport request(XXXXXXXX).
1. Error when activating update rule 22HSFD3ZMALU46LS0R8PRF2MW
IC=ZSDPCXY2 IS=2LIS_11_VAITM error when checking the update rules
2. Error when activating update rule 7NT4WIDPDCN2ERFDRXIGH95PM
IC=ZSDPCXY2 IS=2LIS_12_VCHDR error when checking the update rules
and etc.
Then we activated and saved all the erroneous update rules in another tranport request(YYYYYYYY) and again we transported alongwith the previous transport request(XXXXXXXX).
The last request(YYYYYYYY)was successfully tranported and still there are same errors in TR(XXXXXXXX).
Quick answers will be highly appreciated.

Hi Vijay,
Next time you would have transport only (YYYYYYYY). Transport Request (XXXXXXX) was not required to be moved.
Normally Update Rule gets deactivated in QA when any changes to the CUbe/ODS are moved.
Thus either you can transport transport request for only active update rule to QA or activate your UR directly in QA system in case you have authorization to do that.

Error while activating update rule in Inventory

I was working with migration of datasource 2LIS_03_BF from 3.x to 7.0 in MM module.
Recieved an error while activating update rule 0RT_C17 2LIS_03_BF in Inventory module.
When I checked the routine ,it shows the following error.
Errror:E:The Dictionary structure or table "/BI0/PMAT_SALES" is either not active or does not exist.
I am not usre how to resolve this.
Kindly reply asap.

1. Activate the master data infoobject for 0MAT_SALES at info object level of RSA1
2. Replicate and Activate the data source once again by using the program > SE38 : RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL
3. Then try to migrate you datasource and activate you update rules.

'L_CHAVL_IN' Error while Activating Update Rules.

 when i am tring to activate my update rules, it is giving error, field "L_CHAVL_IN' in unknown. I dont have that field in my objects.
 i found that field in 'Progarm' for the update rules. that field is used in the exit of one of the feild in the update rules.
 Please give me a solution how to solve this.

Transport of update rules from one BW system to another

Hello all,
SAP BW 7.0. Two systems: acceptance, development.
We adjusted 4 old update rules between DSOs and InfoCubes in development system. Trying to transport it to acceptance system (transactions se01, STMS).
Two update rules were transferred succesfully as executable. Other two were transferred as inactive. Overall transfer error code 8.
Strange that when I select some of these update rule and push "check" button it says no errors. But in transport log errors exactly in checking and activating of these rules. Please if someone faced with such strange things suggest a solution.
Want to add that rules are consistent, they are transported fully to acceptance. Proble just two are inective. In development they are active, of course.
Activate after transport not an option. They must be transported as active, all 4.

My friend , kindly follow the steps
Step1
Analyze the transfer rules in development , check for any start routines if any , and also field routines , and also some Tables which are associated with the start routines.
Step2
In case if you find those , first transport those and collect it in a separate request and transport it
Step3
later collect a transfer rule request and go with Over write option ( please tell your BASIS guys )

Hi,
The objects you are mapping in the update rule is deleted by you or someone else while you were creating update rule.
Start RSA1 again so that data targets will be refreshed, check the mapping and try to activate again.

Error while Activating update rule in BW

Hi,
I am getting an ABAP dump while activating an update rule. The rule is from DSO to cube.
"MESSAGE_TYPE_X" " "
"%_T020N1" or "%_T020N1"
"INSTANTIATE"
I have added some new fields in a DSO. The rule is from DSO to cube. While activating it, I am getting this ABAP dump. There are few other rules from this DSO to other DSO which got activated but this one is causing dump.
Any ideas/suggestions on this would be really helpful.

Hi
Check if your Cube , DSO and UR's are active. If not reactivate them. Ideally you could recreate the UR's and check the status by running the extraction.
I would also recommend to use elimination method to check if any particular field is creating an issue. While recreating the UR's , create them for a few fields - active - check extraction - this will also let you know if the issue is within any oif the rules.

ABAP Runtime error while activating Update rules.

Hi Gurus,
Actually we are in NW 2004's SP9.
While activating the update rules of cube "0PY_PPC01" it is going to ABAP runtime error. It is giving the key words like "MESSAGE_TYPE_X"
"%_T005K2" or "INSTANTIATE". And i apply NOTEs also i am unable to fix it.
Can any one give correct NOTE number that can fix it or any suggestions.

Error when activating update rules

0RT_C36 cube shows --- stock per weeek (ocalweek)
My requirement is on daily wise .
So i copy the standard one 0RT_C36 and add the 0cal day.In update rule 0calweek has the reference feild posting date For 0calday i mapped with the same feild posting date . Error has occured when activating the update rule . Error is' No component exists whith the feild sid_calweek_f.

Hi,
The Automatic conversion in the update rules helps us map 0CALDAY of Info source to 0CALWEEK of the cube. So it is not a problem with this mapping.
These type of problem occurs especially when we copied update rules. So what we have to do is checking all mappings for corectness in the mapping.

Data Targets does not show up despite having Active Update Rule

I have an Info Cube of which I have created an Update Rule from a Active Info Source.
However, when I created the Info Package, the 'Data Targets' tab does NOT seem to show the Info Cube as part of the Data Target
Please advice

check if this is a Basic cube or Transactional cube. If for some reasons this has been created as a transactional cube then you won't be able to see the cube on the InfoPackage because you theoritically you won't be loading data into the transactional cubes.

RSAU461, problem with activating update rules for cube 0csrv_c01

Hello,
I have added new fields to data source 0CRM_SRV_PROCESS_H, then changed transfer rules, added characteristics to ODS 0crm_proh, and reactivated update rules 80crm_proh. But now I have problem with second update rules for this cube named 80crm_cnfh. It is not active and all fields in it have red status, error RSAU461, and I cannot activate it.
What I should do? Should I change somehow that second source for data to my cube (change infosource, ods, rule?)

As said by the Mti u have just changed the info objects in the ods and u need to map them with the specific info objects from the ods.
double click on the Update rules of the cube and go to the characteristic tab there map the newly added info objects with the IO in the ods.
