ActiveX Viewer on IE displaying grey screen

We are running crystal enterprise XI rel2 with FP4.7. When running reports via infoview or the crystal management console, reports display. but when running the reports via a java app through the webcompadapter, the reports only return a grey screen. Reports are failing 100% in dev, 50% in test and never in Prod. I have thoroughly reviewed entrprise setup on our Windows 2003 server, and our AIX Weblogic env for the webcompadapter. the environments are the same across dev, test and prod.
Has anyone come across this before that can lend a hand?

I don't think it's exactly an incomplete installation brody, but most likely in-correct permissions somewhere along the line that either happened, or became magnified during the upgrade. Also, it could be corruption as well.
First thing to do, is boot up holding down Shift key to do a safe-boot so we an clean up any corrupted OS caches, after that do another reboot, but go to the Lion recovery, and scan the HD for errors, repair any if you find them, and then try to do a Repair Permissions job.
That should fix the issue, if not, we can start doing a PRAM reset and SMC for good measure.

Half of my monitor displays grey screen

while i was using my imac, the left hand side of the screen suddenly went grey and sumtimes it is in multiple colours( the kind u see when the tv gets no reception) and now, i can only use one side of the screen..is there any solution to it? i've tried the pram...the left side of the screen is totally not useable...

it is also killing me whenever a folder appear on the blank side and i can't move it to teh useable side

Hello,I have an issue that only happens to a handful users. When they view a crystal report online via the ActiveX viewer the text displays in a cryptic type language. It doesn't appear to be a specific language that I can tell. It also prints in the same cryptic language as well. I had them uninstall the viewer and reinstall it, which did not work. The one user that has the issue is running Windows XP SP2, and running IE 6, the same as my machine, but mine works. Has anyone else had this type of issue? Any ideas as to what could be causing it?Thanks,Vance

Customizing ActiveX Viewer for Crystal Reports 2008

Here's the scenario.
We have reports designed in Crystal Reports 2008, that are deployed on Business Objects 3.1 Infoview. All reports have Parameters for users to choose. All reports are expected to refresh on open.Some are dynamic some are standard static ones. There is an application developed in JAVA that is rendering these reports using the ActiveX viewer.
The users are not comfortable with the way reports look in JAVA viewer. Hence the choices are either HTML viewer or ActiveX viewer.
The application achieves this by making OpenDoc call to the report and using
sViewer=actx
as one of the parameters. Here's the issue that we run into. When users land on the parameter screen, the parameter screen alone Pops Up in a new window. Once all the parameter values are entered and the users clicks OK, the window vanishes and actual report is rendered in the original window.
If we use HTML viewer by setting
sViewer=html
The report Parameter screen is rendered in the main window without popping up. However we do not wish to use HTML viewer because, some of the reports are linked to other reports with OpenDoc calls. i. e. Parent report calls child report with a OpenDoc call. In the HTML viewer, when you click on the link to child report, it opens in same window despite setting
sWindow=new
in that opendoc call. Thereby losing parent report and no way to navigate back to it. This problem does not happen in ActivX viewer.There it seems to obey the command to open in new window.
Lastly you can recreate all this behavior by setting your viewer preferences in Info View settings.
So, here's my questions.
1. Should I use the .Net viewer instead of ActiveX Viewer ? If so, where can I find Syntax for the same ?
2. Can someone point me to documentation on the ActiveX Viewer ? Specifically making it not to Pop Up the Parameter Screen ?
3. Should the Java application use a different method other than Open Doc to cal the reports ? If so where can I get the details ?
Apologies for the long post. I tried to anticipate most of the questions that may arise in your mind. Thanks in advance for the time invested.

I already have the Open Document document you mentioned. Can't seem to search for the KB article in Marketplace. No results found.
Just to clarify, I do not want to avoid the Parameter screen. Its the fact that it Pops Up in ActiveX viewer is the issue. The only thing I want in ActiveX viewer is to make that screen appear in main window just like HTML viewer.
I understand that there is no difference as far as opendoc is concerned between .Net or JAVA. I am looking for the SDK behind the viewers themselves.
To my third question, your answer is what I was looking for. But need a bit clarification.

I am not 100 % sure about this but i think that you cannot use the Active X viewer using the Java SDK. You can give it a try
either using the .NET SDK.

Cannot display Crystal Report with ActiveX Viewer

I am using SmartViewerActivex.asp in a classic ASP website to display Crystal Reports and the report will not load.
I get a blank grey screen with only the toolbar showing but able to export out with data intact.
I am using CR9, running in Windows Server 2012 R2 IIS 8.5.
I've already spent about 2 weeks and have not found an answer. Please HELP!

Unfortunately, no help available. I suspect when CR 9 released in 2002, Win Server 2012 was not even a twinkle in Bill's eye. E.g.; you are looking for CR 9 to be 10+ years forward compatible. In other words, it is not supported on WIN server 2012.
Possible option is to upgrade to CR XI R2 (v. 11.5). There you have a weak prayer and hope. With luck it may work. Note that CR XI r2 was the last version of CR to include the AcitiveX viewer. And CR XI R2 has been out of support for over 2 years now.
Best bet: CR SDK for VS .NET or CR SDK for Java. This would mean a new app...

Grey Screen in iPad Content Viewer when swipe through the last slides of the articles

Some of co-workers and clients reported and issue with the presentations and the viewer: some times grey screens appear when swiping in an presentation from article to article (reproducible only for the last slide of the article).
Pre-conditions:
1. Folio with several articles (3-4 is good).
2. Articles should have different number of slides.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open folio on iPad and go to the last slide of each article.
2. Swipe from article to article (better from the first one article to the last one)..
Expected outcome: Last slide of the next article is displayed.
Actual outcome: Grey screen is displayed instead of the last article. Some times it's needed to swipe fast to reproduce the issue. Or at least on the last slide you'll see grey screen instead of the content.
Content will be displayed if you scroll up the page. Seems that new (additional) page is added after the last slide of an article and disappeared after scrolling the page.
Notes: Reproducible with the latest version of adobe viewer (i'm using v31(3.4.3.0.96281). NOT reproducible in iPad Content Viewer with version 3.2.1.3.85505.
Maybe somebody knows the root cause of this issue and how to fix it?

I can confirm that I've seen this happen but beyond that, I can't help.

URL reporting - suppress grouptree display in Activex viewer

Hi,
We are running BOXI R3, using URL reporting to launch reports after a user has logged into Business objects in our app using the Java SDK to select reports, set parameters, etc.
We have been using the Dhtml viewer as the default, but want to move to using the ActiveX viewer as the default instead.
How can the default behaviour of the Activex grouptree display be changed, in order to not show the grouptree when a report is opened?
We were able to modify the Dhtml viewer behavior to suppress the groupTree, but it is not clear how to do this with the Activex viewer, either by URL parameters or the htmlviewerbridge web.xml settings, or .jsp code.

Still haven't figured this one out, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it not possible to use the ActiveX viewer without CR Server or BOE? It appears to be a feature of Crystal Reports Developer Ed., but I can't figure out how to actually view a report using the viewer. All I can do is display in DHTML, but for 10+ MB reports, this doesn't work well because the report reloads at every click.
Also, what is up with the repository requiring BOE? Can I no longer share pre-built command objects without the server software?

I am planning on purchasing Premier Elements 13, would it be better if I bought a new program rather than download an upgrade, just in case the upgrade doesn't load properly due to the error with my existing program?
If I the deleted Premier Elements 9 on my PC would I lose all my existing videos that were produced using Premier Elements 9 or would they be saved so that they can still be worked on in Premier Elements 13?

Premiere Elements 13 absolutely works with Windows 7!
In fact, I'd highly recommend you download the free trial and give it a test run.
Meantime, go to Windows Update and make sure you have all of the latest Windows updates, including those that don't install automatically. Then go to the nVidia or ATI site and ensure you have the latest driver for your graphics card, and go to Apple.com and ensure you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements.

My MacBook Pro won't start - it just displays a grey screen with flashing icon of a folder with a question mark in the middle. Help.

It started while I was using Adobe InDesign, and that program froze, then crashed. When I tried to reopen the program, the error message I received was simply "Error: 16".
I tried to take a screen shot of the error message for reference, and it gave me a message saying I couldn't because I didn't have access to the files where it would normally store the shot.
Attached to my computer at the time was my Seagate Free Agent Go-Flex for Mac backup drive.
So, I closed any open applications, and restarted my computer. But it wouldn't restart. It only displays a grey screen with a flashing icon in the middle of a folder with a question mark on it.
I have no idea what happened - I wasn't using the machine any differently than usual, and it only had a few basic applicaitons open in addition to InDesign (like Preview, Text Edit, Microsoft Word, iCal).
I have MacKeeper on my MacBook, and I keep it clean.
Does anyone out there know what this flashing icon indicates, and if there is anything I can try on my own to fix it?

Seems a uninstall and reinstall of CS is in order.

May or may not be a contributing factor, may have kicked in at a wrong time or running root code.

Search the forums here for "MacKeeper" they will tell the whole story, crapware.
Disconnect all drives, follow the "Grey Screen" instructions and hold Shift key down while booting, if you get into OS X , immediatly backup your files to another drive and disconnect.
In my opinion you should first check to make sure you have a backup of your data, then just erase the entire internal drive (hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, use Disk Utility), reinstall OS X, same user name, update to 10.6.8, c boot off the 10.6 and Repair Disk (to fix a update error) install your programs and finally return files from backup into the same main user folders like before (Music, Docs, Pictures etc.)
A pain it is, but you've hosed your system and in the process you might as well rebuild everything and have a fast machine again. So happens to clear MacKrapper, uninstall CS5 and any other junk in your system at the same time. Fresh, clean, lean and mean.
Learn to Carbon Copy Cloner to a external drive that new pristine boot drive, you can hold the option key and boot from it (even update it), which is a real bacon saver when something like this happens. Also it's free to use, donations accepted.

Adobe content viewer grey screen after login on windows 8.1

we're on Windows 8.1, content viewer is not running, after login it shows a grey screen with just "Adobe content Viewer" on the upper left, but nothing working....

I'm sorry Neil, I'm working on a folio on Indesign, if I share the folio from Folio Builder (Indesign) to my account, and then I open adobe content viewer on my iPad, I can see the cover of the folio shared and I can download it.
Instead, with the same account on adobe content viewer (windows 8.1), I see nothing and I can not do any action.

Mac OS X Lion displays grey (No background) login screen before Apple boot screen

Macbook Pro 13" (2011) Upon startup, displays a grey screen, then after a few seconds, the logon screen, I would logon, then it would show the Apple White boot screen, then it would ask me to log on again (sometimes)

Try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. I have got the same behaviour after the last Safari Update to 5.1.3. It seems that Safari now handles some scripts in a new way. If you debug the Google Website, you will see, that there is some Javascript Error, that seems to prevent to write into local cache. After some searching I wasn't able to finde a solution for this problem, other then disabling Javascript while private browsing to prevent the script loading. You then are able to use Google with the old layout. The option to disable JavaScript can be found in the Menu "Developer", wich has to be enabled in Safari in the options first.
In my opinion this is a bug that is now occuring, because Apple changed something in private browsing and that has to be fixed by Google now, to run again. Or we will have to wait for 5.1.4, as you can read online Apple will change and bugfix the javascript engine in that version, perhaps this fixes the problem as well. I hope so!
If anyone is in the developer program perhaps you could test this with the beta of 5.1.4 and tell us if it works.

Grey screen is displayed when loading pdf file in Adobe 11

PDF file is not loaded in the adobe reader 11. Some time I am getting the grey screen instead of the pdf file. Some time my application is displaying the message saying that It is stopped working. its happening sporadically. But if I downgrade the Adobe reader to version 9, I am not getting the above said issue. Is this the known issue with Adobe reader 11. If it is known issue, any work around is available for it. Many persons using our product got affected because of this issue. pls help me to resolve the issue. I have attached the screen shot of the issue.

I am getting blank screen even If I try open the pdf file from local desktop in the browser. But when I open the local pdf file outside browser I was not able to recreate the issue. But from my application even if I open pdf file outside the browser also (meaning in the adobe reader), I am getting screen. I have attached the screenshot of error I am getting when I try to open the local pdf file. In my task manager I am able to see many process for adobe reader. Even I close the pdf file, the process is not closing.
Operating System: windows 7
IE version: 8
Adobe reader version: 11.0.3
