AD Security Group name change not showing in Sharepoint 2010

Hi!
We have a Sharepoint 2010 Standard enviroment and are heading for a role-based identity-managment in our company. That's why we find it better to use AD Groups instead of Sharepoint Groups.
So we have over 1000 AD Security Groups groups that have been added to our Sharepoint Sites and our goal is to control every permission in Sharepoint from AD.
I have done all this with the combination of Excel and Powershell and it have worked great.
The problem i see in the long run is the name change of AD Security Groups. Sharepoint 2010 isn't showing the new name of the group.
Does anyone know of any workaround that can solve this problem. It's a bit of a disappointment that Microsoft haven't fixed this. The only information i think they should store in Sharepoint is the SID of the groups.
I was thinking of designing a powershell script that runs every night and updates the display name of the groups that do not match the AD display name.
Is there any other way?

As far as I know, and I'm not sure where to go from here without testing on my own...and I'm not sure when I'll be able to do that.  Perhaps a configuration issue.
Have you tried removing the incorrectly named group and adding in the correctly named one?

    Presence was showing while on Lync 2010 and Office 2010 but at some point we lost the jellybean presence.
    We recently upgraded to Lync 2013 and O365. Yet our SharePoint 2010 libraries are no longer showing the presence next to Modifiied By or Created By.
    I've checked CA and presence is enabled. AcriveX add-in ia as well.

    Did the Lync Server 2013 install On-Premises or online?
    If it is On-Premises deployment, Presence is displayed by using an ActiveX® control and Lync APIs.
    Please check if the Office to be the Latest version, if not, update it and test again.

    I needed to swap the location of two Airport Express units, and I renamed them accordingly. They show up properly within Airport Utility/OS X, but within iTunes they seem to be cached to their old names. How do I reset them, flush the cache, or simply get them to show properly within iTunes?

    I had the same problem and finally worked it out!
    Go to the _AirPort Utility_, click on the *Airport Express*, click the *Manual Setup* button and click on the Music icon at the top. You'll see the "iTunes Speaker Name", which relates to the name in iTunes...

    Use BCC.   That's blind carbon copy.   And copy paste the address into the BCC field.  It really depends what e-mail program you use how to enable BCC.

    We are about to migrate to a v11.1.2 Hyperion environment and would like to centralise our security management for our HFM\Planning\Essbase\etc applications to Hyperion Shared Services.
    We'd like to formulate the security group in a particular way so as to allow anyone to know exactly what Hyperion Product, application, role and entity access a security group grants access to ... just by looking at the security gorup name. Obviously, we'd like not to have too long\lengthy a security group name.
    As such, I would like to know if anyone has ever come across or knows of any limitations in the number of characters used to name security groups in HSS. If yes, what is the maximum number of characters which can be used to name a security group????

    * If you are using a DB2 database, the user name must contain at least 8 characters. User names should not exceed 256 characters (Oracle and SQL Serve databases), and 1000
    characters (DB2).
    * Group name should have a maximum 256 characters. Group names should contain a minimum of 8 characters if Native Directory is hosted on DB2 databases.

    I have a single ZESM IR8 server setup.
    All security throughout my environment, ZESM and otherwise, is based on group membership.
    If I change a user from one group to another group this change does not reflect in their policy assignment.
    Scenario: GroupA = standard user policy, GroupB = power user policy.
    UserA was first in Group A and therefore got the standard user policy.
    UserA now requires the power user policy.
    Remove UserA from GroupA and add UserA to GroupB (in iManager).
    UserA does NOT get the "power user" policy that is assigned to GroupB
    Am aware that I can assign the policy at a user level but this is NOT an option in my environment. All security assignments MUST happen at a group level.

    What you observed is the expected behavior.
    ZESM doesn't updates group membership in real time once a policy has been published. I've described this behavior on previous posts.
    What the MC does behind the scenes when you click "Publish" on a container or group object is to assign the policy individually to each member/user. For groups, it resolves membership at the time the policy is published then the MC iterates among each member assigning the policy to each of them. That's why you don't see updates once the policy is published.
    Try Updating the published policy to see if that works. From the docs:
    Updating a Published Policy
    Once a policy has been published to the user(s) or computer(s), simple updates can be maintained by editing the components in a policy, and re-publishing. For example, if the ZENworks Endpoint Security Management Administrator needs to change the WEP key for an access point, the adminstrator only needs to edit the key, save the policy, and click Publish. The affected end-users and computers receive the updated policy (and the new key) at their next check-in.

  • Artist names do not show up on my idpod

    When I sync my itunes to my ipod, some of the artist names do not show up in the Menu for artists. The music is on there, but the listing does not show.

    There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is incorrectly marked as part of a compilation (and you have Compilations enabled on the iPod) or 2) the song has no album name associated with it.
    if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation (as described in the link above), they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. If you are using iTunes 8, in the the multiple items info box the compilations setting is in the "Options" tab. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.
    Also if the tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title.     Try to restore your iphone via iTunes or update to ios6.1.2.
    If itunes gives an error with restoring (DFU/Recovery or just normal)
    try this:
    open your computer and search on windows; C://windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
    open up the hosts file in note pad you will see IP adresses and more add another line and put in this:
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    this is a by-pass to the cydia/saurik restore server, it has nothing to do with jailbreaking over voiding apple's warranty

    Been using the same template to send a weekly newsletter for a year or two but now with a recent update to Thunderbird the group name is rejected when I try to send the message:

    Although not ideal, these workarounds should let you use your mailing lists until a proper fix is implemented:
    * While composing an email open the address book and select the list you are trying to send to, highlight all the names in the list and drag them to the To: box. This uses your existing data without modifying it.
    * Replacing the blanks " " between the words in such lists' descriptions with an underscore "_". This requires modifying your mailing list(s) description(s).
    * Downgrade to a previous version and disable automatic updates (Windows)

    That is what I am trying to work through. I understand you are seeing it in Notifications, that was what I was trying to confirm. When you open the message, what is displaying on the phone, Juan? Is Notification the only place that you are seeing this name differently? And yes, if you have the name saved as John, it should display as John. How are you backing up/syncing your contacts? Are you using a supported application on the computer, or are you using a cloud service, such as iCloud? If you go into your contacts and look in the upper left corner of the application, does it list more than one source for your contacts? Do you have more than one person with the same phone number listed in contacts, similar to having two people that work at the same place? Is the Notification only displaying a first name and no last name? Do you have first names only in your contacts?

    I'm creating an app that uses APEX authentication and features self-registration (working) and forgot password (not working) forms.
    My forgot password is public (requires no authentication). The user provides username and secret answer, which are validated, then provides the new password. I attempt to use htmldb_util.reset_pw to reset the user's password, but it's not working.
    I have a process on the new password page calling a PL/SQL anonymous block that looks like this (see below), where P16_ITEM1 = username and P18_ITEM1 = new password.

    I also don't know how to send accurate success/failure messages from such PL/SQL block back to APEX, but that's a separate issue I guess.
