Adapter covered by AppleCare?

The adapter to my 14-month-old macbook seems to be going a little crazy lately - sometimes it doesn't charge when the battery is in, or the light flips from red to green over and over. If I bring it in, is it covered under AppleCare? Or does its warranty end when the first year is over? Does anyone know?

The AC adapter is covered with either the original warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan if you bought it with the MacBook.

  • HT5234 Is my MagSafe L-style adapter covered by AppleCare?

I noticed that the wire covering has been torn, exposing the wiring inside. Obviously my first question is whether or not it can be replaced through AppleCare?
    Any ideas?

As CT said, take it in to your friendly Apple store genius bar and see...they will inspect to see the cause of the damage...two weeks ago a user was asking about replacement parts since his cat had chewed the cable, which is not likely to be covered

  • HT1941 is the power adapter covered under apple care?

mine seems to have frayed over time. The computer is still under apple care.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If it came with your Mac, it's covered by AppleCare, so Apple will replace it for free if the power adapter is broken

  • Adapter covered by Apple Care

The plastic casing on my Power Adapter cable broke right where it connects to the computer pug end. It had been working fine, but yesterday it stopped charghing unless it was in exactly the right position, and seemed to be overheating at the end the connects to the computer (much hotter than before it broke). Is the power adapter covered by Apple Care or am I going to have to shell out the money for a new adapter? The adapter is not even a year old.

Mine stopped charging some time ago and AppleCare replaced it.
But your case depends on how Apple Supports sees the situation. How did the casing break, did you drop it or what?
    Give them a call.

  • I recently managed to get the whole casing of my 13" Macbook Pro (Mid-2009) replaced due to a missing foot and dodgy spacebar. The lid is dented and scratched so would like to know how much it would cost to replace? I know its not covered by AppleCare.

So i took my Macbook Pro 13'' (Mid-2009) into Apple because the spacebar was jammed and I had one of the feet of the bottom casing missing which was unusual (black circles). The unibody and bottom plate had a fair few dents and nicks and under AppleCare I was able to get the whole unibody and bottom case fixed for free. Saved myself a good £181!
This now leaves my lid which has one or two noticeable dents and the bottom right part is suffering from several scratches. I was wondering how much a new lid would cost if I took it into Apple? I know it won't be covered under AppleCare as its accidental damage but want to know whether its worth paying for to have a once again dent free Macbook Pro .
As a side note, do Apple upgrade your hardware at all, such as the hard drive or memory? I know it would be cheaper to do it at an independant computer shop or by myself but would like to explore my options first.

  • I have blue and green vertical lines on my iMac which is no longer covered by Applecare. Is it fixable?

I have blue and green vertical lines on my iMac which is no longer covered by Applecare. Is it fixable?

What model iMac? Could be a failing video card but maybe not. Is it that way on every screen, startup to shutdown, any time the screen is lit?
Do you have an AASP nearby? Time to have an estimate made. Fixing it will likely be very expensive.

  • 30 pin connector covered by applecare

is the ipod 30 pin touch connector covered by applecare that you buy for two years of coverage

Just note that not infrequently damage to the dock connector is caused by misuse like trying to force the plug into the iPod dock connector with the plug reversed. Misuse is not covered by the warrant/Applecare.

  • If my iphone screen is cracked but it also has water damage will it be covered under applecare?

If my Iphone screen is cracked but it also has water damage will it be covered under applecare since i need the screen replaced?

Neither of those is covered by the standard one-year warranty.
If you purchased AppleCare+, you may be able to get it replaced for $79+ tax; otherwise, you will most likely be paying $269+ tax to replace the phone.

Basically only for the first year and only if Apple deems it defective. It is seen as a consumable item and not covered under Applecare.

  • "Service Battery"-service covered under AppleCare?

    I have a mid-2010 13" Macbook, covered under AppleCare until August 7th, 2013.
My battery has recently started acting strangely, or to be more specific it doesn't act as it did previously.
I thought my charger might be broken, and I replaced it, but the problems are still present.
    - The total charge my battery holds has been strongly reduced in a relatively short period of time.
    - The battery will NEVER become 100% charged. It stops at 98 or 99%.
    - The cycle count seems a little high considering I rarely use the macbook without being connected to a power source.

A year and a half ago I moved to China, and I have continued using my macbook as normal after the move. Could the change in battery performance have anything to do with the electric currents being different over here? My macbook was originally bought in Europe.
    I'm wondering:
    - Will my battery have to be replaced?
    - Will it damage my computer if I don't replace my battery?
    - Does AppleCare cover service/repair in this situation?
My closest Apple Store is in San Li Tun, Beijing.
    - Could I go there directly and inquire about service, or would I have to contact them online first/make an appointment?
    - How much would a new battery cost if my battery ends up needing replacement?
Thank you very much for reading!

Since you have Apple Care I would call and make an appointment for the Apple Techs to evaluate the battery. Your battery has less than the 1000 cycle life considered normal.

  • Keyboard not covered by Applecare??

    Hi all,
I apologize if this topic is repeated, but I couldn't find an answer in previous posts.
Two keys fell from my Macbook and even though I've managed to put them back, they would fall again from time to time and also often stop working.
I took the macbook to an authorized service provider in Bangkok, Thailand [I'm living here for a year], but they refused to fix it, alleging it was a "cosmetic problem".
I've read terms and conditions of Apple Care and it says clearly that cosmetic problems are those that do not affect functionality and that do not apply to my case.
Should I try to bring this matter to Apple International?
    cheers

So long as your keyboard problems are not the result of accidental damage, they are covered under AppleCare.

  • Charger cord is split is this covered by applecare?

My charger cord for my Macbook has a split in the casing and was wondering if this would be covered by Applecare?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
This charger has got the same warranty as the computer if it came with your MacBook Pro, so it's covered by warranty always that you didn't cause the problem. Contact with Apple or take your charger to an Apple Store or reseller to receive a different charger for free

  • Is express return service covered under applecare?

Is express return service covered under Applecare for my 6+? Is there any fees for this service?

The standard $29 shipping fee for Express Replacement Service is waived if you have AppleCare.  However, you'll still be required to put a hold on a credit card for the full retail purchase price of your device, that remains until you return your original device to Apple.
