Hi,
You can find the XI content for an SAP application in export files on SAP Service Marketplace at <b>service.sap.com/swdc</b> under Download u00AE Support Packages' and Patches u00AE Entry by Application Group u00AE SAP content u00AE Process Integration Content (XI Content) u00AE <XI CONTENT software component u00AE <XI CONTENT software component version> (you can find the name of the software component and the version in the master guide of your application).
You import the XI content by first copying the provided export files into an import directory on the host of the Integration Builder and then importing the files into the Integration Repository. In the following steps, <systemDir> denotes the path for the system directory of the host (generally, <systemDir> corresponds to \usr\sap\<SAPSID>\SYS\global).
       1.      Obtain the export files for the XI content of the cross-system application.
The files are generally stored as a ZIP file on SAP Service Marketplace (see above). You can use the naming convention of these ZIP files to find their SPS (support package stack):
<software component version><SPS>_<patch level>
The files SCM4003_00.ZIP and SCMBASIS4003_00.ZIPrefer to support package stack 03 with patch level 0 of the XI content.
Importing XI content with a later version does not overwrite the content that you have already imported into the Integration Repository. Support packages for XI content always contain both previous objects and the changes and enhancements delivered in the support package.
       2.      Copy the export files into the import directory for the Integration Repository (<systemDir>\xi\repository_server\import).
If the files are packed, you must unpack them before importing. (It is advisable to retain the ZIP files, see also the remarks for the last step.)
The actual export files have the extension .tpz. You must not unpack these files. The import directory is created the first time you call the Integration Builder.
       3.      Start the Integration Builder and call the Integration Repository.
To do this, perform the following steps:
                            a.      Log on to the SAP system on which your Integration Builder has been installed.
                            b.      Open the Integration Builder start page by calling it either from your user menu or with Transaction SXMB_IFR.
                            c.      Choose Integration Repository.
       4.      Choose Tools u00AE Import design objects to import the XI content.
Only the files from the import directory (see above) are offered to be imported. The sequence in which you import the export files is not important.

Have you done a fresh installation? If so, you need to import the SWCV SAP BASIS in your IR. To do this, you need to download the component corresponding to your SP from service.sap.com.
You can find the components here
    https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=SEARCH&HIDE=&SEARCH_SPAT=X&SEARCH_BPAT=X&SEARCH_CD=X&SEARCH_P=X&SEARCH_PV=X&SEARCH_C=X&SEARCH_CV=X&SEARCH_TA=&SEARCH_V=&HIDE_EXPERT_SEARCH=X&SEARCH_MAX_RESULT=20
Make sure, you downloading the component for your corresponding SP.
This has to placed in import directory and you can download it in IR after this...

  • Not able to see the adapter types in ID

    Hi Friends-
    I recently installed PI 7.0 .
When i try to select the adapter type in ID it says that object not found.
I am not able see any adapter list. Can you figure out this problem.
Your help in this is highly appreciated.

    Hi.
You haven't the adapter types because you haven't import the SWCV SAP BASIS 7.0
Try to import it from integration repository. If you still havn't the adapter types, talk with basis people and tell them that they have to apply oss note number 836200.
This note says that they must copy a file into a folder. From integration repository you will import this file and you will have SWCV SAP BASIS 7.00 with all the adapters definitions. They will be visible from Integration Directory.
    Bye,
    Inigo.

  • SAP PI 7.0 - Integration Directory No Adapter Types

I have recently installed ECC 6.0 with usage type PI. I am trying to create a simple scenario in PI, but when i go to the Integration Directory to create a communication channel i do not get any Adapter Types, clicking on the input help shows no objects found for the adapter metadata.

    Hi,
There is no Precofiguration step available in PI 70 but it is available in PI 71.
    Manual Loading
You will obtain SAP BASIS 70 tpz (XI Content) in SAP Service Market place.
service Maket place->SAP Patches -> Entry by Application component -> SAP Content -> ESR(XI Content) -> SAP BASIS 70
This file is available in SAP PI DVD software just search with *.tpz
In PI 710 when you do intial Netweave step Configuration using template based configuration this meta data automatically downloaded to Enterprise Service Repository.

  • Determine the adapter type in adapter module

    Hi All,
How can I determine with in a adapter module (custom developed) which adapter type the message is currently being processed? I was planning to use the method Message.getProtocol() and according to the documentation this returns
"Returns the protocol of this message (i.e. message format)"
The result of this method is always "XI".
I want to have a generic module for file and soap adapters. With in the module, I want to perform a different set of operations depending on the adapter type.
    Any inputs are highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jai

Thanks Stefan. I am able to get the adapter type now.
    I am using
                  CPAFactory factory = CPAFactory.getInstance();
                  CPALookupManager lookup = factory.getLookupManager();
                  String strChannelId = moduleContext.getChannelID();

  • PI 7.1: Adapter Type 'Basis 7.0' Vs Adapter Type 'Basis 7.1'

    Hi All,
In PI 7.1 we have two versions of each adapter type 'Basis 7.0' and Basis 7.1'.
Could you let me know the difference between these two? and which one should be used
    Regards,
    XIer

It is an upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1.
Does that mean all existing objects which are configured as Basis 7.0 should now be changed as Basis 7.1   or   only any new developemnt should use PI 7.1 going forward.
Also we did not see any changes in adapter configuration parameters by changing from Basis 7.0 to Basis 7.1. What is the new functionality being provided by Basis 7.1
Also we have noticied that if we change any existing object to Basis 7.1 from 7.0 and transport it to QA system, all configuration parameters for that channel already in QA are wiped out and we have to rekey in all the parameters. Looks like it treats it as a new object going(new transport) going into QA for the first time. This is causuing concern to us as we will have to rekey production parameters for even existing channels in Prod if a config change is sent for these objects from dev after we have changed 7.0 to Basis 7.1 in channel. I hope you got my point.

  • Adapter Type For R/3 Receiver

    Hi All,
I have created a Communication Channel that represents the communication between a Thrid Party System and R/3, where R/3 is receiver.
Now the parameters I had entered initially for the Commnication Channel were:
    Adapter Type : RFC
    Transport Protocol : RFC
    Message Protocol : RFC (XML)
Adapter Engine : Central Adapter Engine
Then I had entered the Target Details As:
RFC Server Type : SAP System
& Below I had mentioned the application server, the system number, authentication mode, and login details.
Now the client has requested me to remove all the hard coding (i.e. all the application server id, system number and login details) and instead use an RFC Destination, so that the interfaces will have no dependency and maintenance would be low, while the configuration is being transported from the development right upto production.
Now can anyone help me as to which Adapter Type am I to select for this, or how to go about it, so that I can enter the RFC Destination instead of entering system details. I guess it is possible if you select the Adapter Type as IDOC but I cannot select IDOC, for the simple reason, the receiver system is non SAP and is not sending the data in form of an IDOC.
    Kindly Advise...
    Thanks & Regards
    Pablo

    Hi There,
Thanks for pointing out the mistake, the Receiver is Definitely the R/3 System and the Sender is Non SAP Third Party System.
So as per your suggestion, if I set the Adapter Type to be XI, then what kind of RFC Connection would have to be created in SM59, can it be of the type ABAP Connection(SM59), or anything specific.
    Kindly Advise...
    Thanks & Regards

  • No Adapter Types in Comm. Channels -- Urgent Pls

    Guyz,
I'm a newbie and when i'm trying to follow a 'how to sample idoc' scenario doc, i tried creating a communication channel...even i tried using creating comm. channels with wizard, but i got a wierd error as follows :
"com.sap.aii.ib.core.roa.RoaObjectAccessException: Attempt to read object Adapter Metadata IDoc .......from application REPOSITORY failed......." ...and a very huge java exception.....
later after i did a bit of searching over this forum and sap help, i found a document on marketplace detailing the tests to check our XI system is ready or not (doc name is Readiness_Check_Version3.pdf)... as suspected one of the test for adapters failed....In Adapter Monitoring section of Runtime Workbench, i'm not able to see any adapters other than JPR ...... which is why i suppose no F4 is turning up for adapter type in communication channel....
further more searching on this forum, showed me some hints for downloading XI Content from marketplace to update IR.....Firstly i'm not sure this is the solution, if it is, what all components needs to be downloaded.... can i just download SAP_BASIS 7.00 ? in my system i even have 'SAP BASIS 7.10'.... 'm in utter confusion....
appreciate a quick reply on this with details (pls let me know how to check which SP level is my XI system is installed ? , if i have to download XI Content from mkt place).
    thanks a ton in advance

    Hi,
Can you please check this steps:
    a) Reimport the latest version of the SAP Basis Software Component into the Integration Repository. The adapter metadata is contained in that SWC, under the namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System
    b) Just try with Visual Administrator to check the services for the adapter engine are running or not. All services starts with SAP XI..
    SAP XI AF Core
    SAP XI AF CPA Cache
    SAP XI AF Messaging
    SAP XI Adapter XI
    SAP XI AF Security
    c) Just go thru following link from service.sap.com
    https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700002757652005E/HowtoMintorAF.pdf
    d) In the last Refresh the cache of the Adapter Engine.
    1) sxi_cache->goto-->AE Cache
    2) check for CPA Cache also

  • Adapter type for inbound xml message XI3.0 SP10

    Hi,
We are using XI3.0 SP10 and are about to set up a scenario where we will receive an xml to process. Up until now we have only received simple flatfiles  to process.
My question is, can I use adapter type "File" to process this inbound xml file? And are there any special considerations I should be aware of, that is different from processing an textfile?
At the moment I have started to set it up as follows:
    Adapter Type: File
    Transport Protocol: FTP
    Message Protocol: File Content Conversion
    Adapter Engine: Integration Server
    Transfer Mode: Binary
    File type: Binary
    Thanks,
    Fredrik

    Hello,
Yes you can but you don't need "File Content Conversion".
    Choose "File" and well done.
