  • Willo Shared apps Tier is suitable for apps tier failover

    Hi,
    i have doubt regarding Shared apps tier feature whether it can be used for application node failover?
    For example:
    i have two node EBS
    node1 (DB)
    node2 (Form,web,conc).
    if i i create node3 and shared the apps tier (node2) filesystem with node3.
    Questions:
    1. Incase of node2 failure for any hardware issue.Can i failover the apps tier to node3?
    2. Similarly if i create node4 and shared node1 database with node4. Can i failover the db node2 to node4
    Kindly explain.

    This is to update, as it may help others.
    I checked with Oracle and came to know that it is doable but not supported.
    Conclusion:
    I can create copy(STANDBY) of existing DB and APPS tier and manually do failover to STANDBY.
    Note: if i want to make failover automatic, i can use third party failover cluster like HP Service Guard.
    Hewlett-Packard's ServiceGuard
    IBM's High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing (HACMP)
    Sun's Sun Cluster
    Veritas's Cluster Server

  • ITunes password fails for app updates

    My itunes password works for new app downloads and on computer, but fails when I try to update all apps, have triple checked the password for all and it is the same, any ideas?

    Hello,
    I believe the reason for your problem is that the apps were originally bought by your husband(The app is registered with his account). He therefore needs to update them for you. Then if you sync your ipod you can get the most updated app. If it is a free app you could just download it using your own itunes account so you could update the app yourself.

  • RW-20004 no installs found for this host Error when installing Apps tier

    Hello:
    Trying to install 12.1.1 on a linux x64 OS. Following is my current OS Setup:
    1) Have 2 Instances or RHEL 5 Update 4 x64 each named as follows: oalin12db.apps.local & oalin12mt.apps.local
    2) Both have multi user setups as follows:
    a) user: oracle (501), group dba (503)
    b) user: applmgr (502), group dba (503)
    3) Installation of DB node successful for a Vision Instance with SID=VISN
    4) Getting error "RW-20004 no installs found for this host" on apps tier. Does not matter if I use host:SID:port or copy the actual config file over and point rapidwiz to it, I get the same error.
    5) checked everything as per metalink notes 605677.1 and 444870.1.
    6) SELinux on Permissive mode on both instances for now.
    7) Installation stage directory is local to the DB instance and is setup as an nfs mount onto the apps tier.

  • Rac for the Apps tier

    Hi Hussein,
    I am confused. Our client bought four (4) servers. 2 for Apps Teir and 2 for DB Tier which are required to be both in RAC setup. My question is Can the Appstier be setup as RAC? I thought RAC is for Database only.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    My question is, If you buy a generic EBS R12 license, can you install it on both RAC and Non-RAC servers?You will need a license to use Oracle RAC - In addition to the link below, please contact your Oracle Sales representative for details.
    Oracle Price Lists
    http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/pricelists.html
    I am in a panic mode now because I have no experience setting-up RAC :(It would be a new and nice experience ;)
    How do I validate that the servers are qualified to be RAC setup? what software/hardware should I audit first to check that RAC is possible to be setup in this servers?The links referenced above should be helpful. In addition, please refer to [Oracle Database Documentation|http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/database.html] and [Oracle RAC SIG Home|http://www.oracleracsig.org].
    Regards,
    Hussein

  • OAS 10gR2 and e-Biz app tier on same server

    I seem to have some sort of contention on my application server and I was wondering if anybody might have a suggestion on how to verify my setup or troubleshoot.
    I have a Red Hat ES 4 32-bit server that is running an 11.5.10.2 e-Biz application tier. This install was done by our e-Biz dba who has since left the company.
    I have since installed OAS 10gR2 for another application with the intent that we would share this server.
    This has been done successfully on our Test server with no issues but the app tier is not being shutdown every night like it is in Production.
    However I have had a couple of situations where after my e-Biz application was restarted over night it was found to not be working in the morning with this error:
    'JSP error: Request URI:/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp'
    I tired to stop/start the e-Biz app tier but no go. The fix was to stop my oracle OAS server and stop/start the 11i e-Biz applicaztion tier.
    CLARIFICATION:
    The port pool assigned on this server is 0 I guess (as it uses 8000) and that url always works (servername:8000), it is the E-Business Home Page that fails and generates that JSP error.
    I don't think it is HW related but more of a configuration issue. I know I can check my ports assigned in OAS via $OH/install/portlist but I'm not sure how to check the 'port pool' assigned by e-Biz.
    Just wondering what I should verify or double-check configuration wise. The e-Biz app stops/starts every night for backups and has worked in conjunction with the OAS for the past week until today. I likely do not need to shutdown the app tier every night for backups but that would just mask the underlying issue.
    We use a different userid for the financials configuration versus the OAS config and each env uses it's own oraInventory and directory structure etc.
    I was thinking of using netstat to see what ports are in use before and after restarts and look into the 'net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000' value set in the /etc/sysctl.conf file.
    Any other suggestions?
    Edited by: user6445925 on Jan 5, 2010 12:03 PM
    Added CLARIFICATION section.

    My understanding with Financials is when you setup the app tier you pick a port pool (0 corresponds to port pool starting with 8000 etc. and port pool 4 would be 8004 etc.).
    So in my case when I launch http://servername:8001 I get the Oracle Rapid Install Portal. So maybe that is port pool 1in my case (I'll research that).
    If I pick 'Apps Logon Links' and then E-Business Home Page it takes me to http://servername:8001/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp which normally works.
    It only fails sometimes and that seems to be in relation to my OAS install as it was added recently and shutting it down temporarily fixed the problem.
    They are both running successfully again now.

    Below is the solution provide by the SR Team its works perfectly our enviorment.
    Please perform the following steps:
    1. Stop all middle tier services including the concurrent managers. Make sure no FNDLIBR, FNDSM, or other dead processes are running.
        (restart application and database OS (i have done this step additionally))
    2. Stop and then restart the database.
    3. Connect to SQLPLUS as APPS user and run the following :
    EXEC FND_CONC_CLONE.SETUP_CLEAN;
    COMMIT;
    EXIT;
    4. Reference Note.260887.1 regarding the Steps to Clean Nonexistent Nodes or IP Addresses from FND_NODES.
    5.. Run AutoConfig on all tiers, firstly on the DB tier and then the APPS tiers and Web tiers to repopulate the required system tables.
    6. Connect to SQLPLUS as APPS user and run the following statement :
    select CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME
    from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES
    where CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME like 'FNDSM%';
    If the above SQL does not return any value please do the following:
    cd $FND_TOP/patch/115/sql
    Connect to SQLPLUS as APPS user and run the following script :
    SQL> @afdcm037.sql;
    Reference Note 218893.1 How to Create The Service Manager 'FNDSM' on Oracle Applications
    to create libraries for FNDSM and create managers for preexisting nodes.
    Check again that FNDSM entries now exist:
    select CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME
    from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES
    where CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME like 'FNDSM%';
    7. Please run the Concurrent Manager Recovery feature to address any Concurrent Manager / Concurrent Processing issues within the Oracle Application Manager.
    8. Start the middle tier services including your concurrent manager.
    9. Retest the issue.
    Regards
    Usman

  • 10.1.2: infra tier starts, app tier times out

    I'm running OCS 10g 10.1.1, patched with the 10.1.2 patchset, on SuSE 9. I can start all of the infra tier processes without error, but when I use opmnctl startall to start the app tier processes, I get a number of timeouts. opmnctl reports that it started 15 of 32 processes; I get timeout errors for the email housekeeper, virus scrubber, IMAP, POP, NNTP, and SMTP components. What's the best way to trace the root cause for this timeout?

    Yes. After that failed to resolve the problem, I removed and reinstalled OCS altogether. Solved that problem right away.
