Add a Print button to a Report Page

I'm trying to add a Print button to a report page to render the page in printer-friendly mode and then give the user the option to send to a printer. I started with just trying to add a print button. I added a button to the region and added to the button request value javascript:window.print();. When I click on the print button, nothing happens. So I tried to add some html code:

as a condition in Expression 1 when I selected "Current page is NOT in Printer Friendly mode". Nothing happens when I click on the print button. Can anyone offer some steps to create this functionality or point me to documentation on how to do this? I have tried the help documentation within APEX and isn't clear to me.

The documentation wasn't very clear to me. I did try one suggestion to create a region on the report page and call it Print. The suggestion is then to add the following code to the Source Region section:

<input type='BUTTON' value="Print this page" onClick="window.print()">
<form>
The example however leaves out some significant information however. What is the region created as e.g. HTML, Report, Form, URL, etc?

Print button on Web report.

We were trying to add a print button on Web report for printing the result area on the Web report.
We followed the steps which has given in the How-to-guide How To Web Printing with Microsoft
Excel document.
In the document it has mentioned that
1. Support package should be above 19 for BW 3.5 version
2. Add HTML code in the WAD Template
3. Import Transport file into the System.
4. Apply OSS notes 736568 and 737082 to BW
We upgraded the support package to 22, added the html code in the WAD template, imported the transport file into the BW system and applied the OSS notes as per the mentioned in the document.
The transport file contains the Package u201CZPK_WEB_PRINTING_WITH_EXCELu201D and ABAP Classes u201CZCL_RSR_XLS_GRIDu201D,

After import the transport file into BW, some of the objects in the ABAP Classes were not activated. I was trying to activate manually but those were not activating.
Please guide me how to resolve the above issue or is there any way to get the printing the web report?

If you want to print the web page directly then you can define a button using Java script and you can do it.
Define java script code to print the page
for ex define a button and call function for print.
i cannot attach the code. but you can solve with java script

While Printing using Print Button on Crysal Report Loses focus.

Hi all,
I am using CR XI along with VS2003 for developing my application.
My application uses a Treeview to list all the available reports, once user select one of the report. I am using another dll, which contain all the rpt files as Embedded Resource, for showing the report in Crystal report viewer.
Once report get loaded, I am using Print Button from Crystal report viewer to print the report.
report get printed properly..
However a strange behavior occurring, Form with Crystal report viewer control placed loses focus and immediate below window coming into focus (some other opened window get activated and bring to front and hiding my application).
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I think I am not creating a separate process,
From my application, I am creating an instance of form (which is in another DLL) which is hosting Crystal report viewer.
If click "Print" button on the Crystal report viewer, I am getting a Printer selection form.
If I cancel from there ,my Crystal report viewer form get focus back.
If select a printer and click "OK". my Crystal report viewer form lost focus and some of the other window opened (word, ie, etc) before get focus.
My assumption is Crystal Report viewer's "Print" button may be using a separate thread for Printing.
that may creating this focus issue.

Adding print button to interactive report

For now I have the downloaded to PDF option checked so the user can print an interactive report via the widget.
I would like to have a print button on the report also.
Has anyone got any of the java script stuff working off of a button?

All you should have to do is call the 'PDF' request to download the same report the drop down will create.

Print Button of SSRS report is not display report in IE11

We are running on SSRS 11.0.0.0, .net framework 4.5, SQL server 2012.
Everything is working fine in IE9, IE10, now our client has updated their browser to IE11. In IE11 the print button in SSRS report is not showing. We have tried browser file,
it will show print button in IE11 but it is not functional. we have also tried to change browser mode to IE 10 or IE 9 (using <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />) but it didn't work in IE 11.
Some forum suggested to change framework to 4.5.1 but i
cant change framework now. so please suggest some alternatives to achieves the functionality.

Can you add a Print Button to one page?

I have a form with 15 or so pages of information. I do not want the submitter to get a printout of the entire thing. However, they are given a chance to pay via PayPal or pay by mailing a check.
If they chose PayPal, no big deal. If they chose to mail a check - I would like them to either GET a print out of the last page, or have a button they press to get a print out of the last page. This page would be required to be sent along with the check so I can tie it back to the record.
Is this possible?

What is it you need to accomplish?
If you just want work to be saved as people move through the form, you could prompt them to hit the save link, if you've enabled it. This would allow them to come back to the form and finish it later, and preserves all selections and filled-in information. When they then hit the "Submit" button at the end of the form, all of their info deposits into the data set.
If you don't mind the data being split across multiple data sets, you could create multiple small single-page forms, and when the respondent hits the "Submit" button, they could be automatically redirected to the next form. You would set this up in the form Options tab and select the Redirect URL panel.
Otherwise, follow Josh's suggestion for a PDF.

Help on print button for interactive report

Hi,
I have created an interactive report and have also added a print button on the button of the report (unfortunately forgot how I did it). Say my column on the reports was Col_No, Col_First_name, Col_Last_name and a print button when I pressed a would get to choose open or save a pdf file, if I opened or saved it, I would had the same info on my pdf report as above.
Since I have changed the column order meaning I have Col_No, Col_Last_name, Col_Start_Date, Col_First_name and that is working fine but when I click on the print button I will get the pervious columns.
I noticed I have created a branches to print the report, basically after processing, when button was pressed an action with f?p=&APP_ID.:0:&SESSION.:PRINT_REPORT=6259824360775969936:&DEBUG.::: is present.
I need help to fix this and I do very much appreciate any help or suggestions

A print button in a Report

I have a displayed version and a printing version of a report. I want the end-user to print the "printing version". Therefore, I cannot use print window and also because the entire report does not show in the window. I want to create a button or hyperlink in the report that enables the end-user to execute the run link for the printing version of the report in a different window and print it using the browser's print function. What objects do I need to create to achieve this?

I managed to do this in the following way:
1. Create two reports - Your_report and Your_printable_report
2. Put this in the additional PL/SQL section of "Your_report".
htp.p('<a target="_blank" href="<URL of Your_printable_report.show>">View printable version</a>');
3. In the additional PL/SQL section of "Your_printable_report"
htp.p('<form><input type="button" value="Print" onClick="window.print()"></form>');
This creates the first report with a hyperlink to the printable version, which has a button to print it.

When I open the menu there is not a "print" button to add to the tool bar. Even under customize there is not a "print" button. How do I print from mozilla?

The Print button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list opens the Print Preview window.
You can click the Print button in the Print Preview window or use the Print item in the File menu (File > Print) or use the Ctrl+P shortcut to have access to the print selection item and other print setup options.

There are other things that need attention.
Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.

How do I add a print button that would print out pdf or different version than what is on the site?

I see this example on NY Times. If you pick any of their articles and click print or do the short cut (Command-P) ... (Control-P for windows), the layout of their article is completely customized and cleaner. It seems like they've edited the print look to be different than what you see on the website.
I find that very cool and something I've bent dying to achieve. My guess is that I could make a pdf to what I want the print look to be and have a print button read that instead of the website but I don't know, I need help with this.

I have but it's not what I'm looking for. I want to edit what the printer will actually print when a reader clicks print. So if the page has a puzzle, for example, and the reader clicks print. The printer will print the puzzle in a different location on the page without some of the clutter that's on the site or have some message that's not originally present on the website.

Printing a HTML DB REPORT page.

I am new to using HTML DB. I am using version 2.0. I created a simple report page (Theme 10) that displays fine on the screen. I've searched every where, but can not determine how to apply the Printer Friendly attribute to this 'Report' page. I don't see a checkbox to invoke it as I create the report page or how to invoke it after the report page is created. The user needs to be able print the report that they are viewing on the screen. I don't know how that is accomplished. Thanks.

I'm making some progress. I created the navigation bar and now Print appears on the bar along with Logout. I used the &APP_PAGE_ID. However, when I click on the Print link I get an ie message The page cannot be found. HTTP 400 - Bad Request.
The Report page I am trying to print has the following syntax in the HTML 'Body'
<td class"t10NavBar">&APP_USER.#NAVIGATION_BAR#</td>
Does this satisfy your request to put #NAVIGATION# as a substitution string in the page template?
Also, based on the screen shot link (tinypic) you sent me, it appears to be an earlier version of HTML DB because it is not exactly what I'm seeing.

How do I add a print button in the 'Additional tools and Features'? My print button has disappered.

After the recent upgrade my print button disappeared from the Menu Bar. I tried to customize the menu bar by adding back the print button but the button does not appear in the list of 'Additional Tools and Features' in the left hand window. I cant locate the print button anywhere.

I cannot print from firefox. I can print from open office. It seems to have something to do with when frames open because in IE, I can print a whole page, but when I try to use a print button embeded in a page or frame it does not work.

In Internet Explorer, I was able to print by pushing the print button, but when opening a frame, like in mapquest, the embedded print button brings up an options window that has print frames options in it, but when hit OK in this box, a second error box comes up with a yellow exclamation point and nothing prints. I have a feeling that it is the same problem with both browsers, but would prefer using firefox. Can you help with this?

Yes, I tried that.   The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size.   I opened that destination folder from quick time from where it said select image sequence.   I clicked on the first one and opened it.   The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go.   When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie.   The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
    To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation? Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.

How do i add a "More" button to my longgg page, like Twitter has

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to shorten a long webpage by adding the "more" button. I realize i can add a button - hyperlink it to a new page, but how do i keep it nice like twitter's pages. By keeping all the articles i have on the same page. I viewed the source on one of my followers twitter pages and they had this code, i am assuming it has something to do with the button, not sure if it helps at all.

Regarding your buttons.
Move the textbox into view. I said that earlier.
And remove the elem.style.left = '0'; code.
The reason it's not showing in FF and MSIE is probably that they do not know how to display it.
In such cases you have to find an alternatve.
And the sites you mention have great feats.
What I do is to study the code to see how it's done and then try to use it on my own pages.
With iWeb it's a bit more challenging.
But it can be done, as I showed.
