Add a "Tell a Friend" button to an iWeb page?

When you create a .mac web gallery page on the top toolbar there is a button to "tell a friend" with an envelope icon. Clicking the button brings up a window that allows you to enter your name and the email address of the person you want to share the page with.
Is it possible to add this same button or at least functionality to an iWeb page?
I know you can copy the link and email it, but I'm thinking more about family that doesn't know how to do stuff like that and that button would be very helpful for them to share our page.

IPhoto "Tell a Friend" button

For the last few days, my IPhoto "tell a friend" button does not work properly. When I click "tell a friend", an e-mail describing MobileMe pops up, instead of the e-mail which invites friends to view a album on the .Mac web gallery.
Any suggestions on how I might fix this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try again. This is what I was getting earlier today.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Tell a friend button produces hijacked link

Strange title and i am not sure this is the correct forum but can't find more suitable/obvious one.
When I click the 'Tell a friend' button to send a link to my photo albums, instead of the desired links and password details appearing in the message text there is an advert for a British Telecommunications Broadband facility known as BTFON!
Now I happen to have a BTFON account for use in UK and find it very convenient where standard wifi is not available or of poor quality so I know this to be a legitimate advert. However, I can't see why it should suddenly have started to appear in a link from iPhoto.
I have used the iPhoto facility to "tell a friend" in the past and not had this problem before. The last time i used the BTFON facility was in an airport hotel just before coming to the USA.
I do not have a problem when I open a new mail message directly in Mail. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
(Oh yes I have tried to get an answer from British Telecoms - but I am not going to hold my breath for it!)

The old method of emailing was fully restored with the 9.1.1 update. Just choose Mail or your preferred client in the preferences.

Two solutions:
The Easy One:
Create a Form (which will be the button) and add text to it or choose a picture from iphoto. Now give the form/picture a hyperlink to the same site. So now if you press the button, the site will refresh and start at the beginning/top
The advanced way:
1. Publish your site on the web (not just local). Copy the URL
2. Now create a Button like displained in the solution above. As Hyperlink you'll now have to set external site and paste the before copied link AND add the following at the end of the url: #widget0
3. Add a html widget to the top of the site.
4. The widget's content should be <a name="anchor"></a>
5. Publish your site again on the web and look wether it works.
This way won't work, if the created site is linked as an iframe.

You need to create a text link to the file...
On your page, type a word that you want to be the link... then select the word, and in the inspector pane, click the link tab (the arrow on the far right) and check "enable as hyperlink." Then choose "file" from the dropdown menu and a chooser box will open for you to locate the file on your hard drive.
Choose the file by clicking "open" once it's located. Then the next time you publish, the file will be uploaded and linked to!

"Tell a Friend" Button (Bookmark or Social Network Button)

I'm trying to add a popular social network button called "Tell A Friend". When I add the html snippet to my website it doesn't work. The URL that gets passed to to the pop up box is completely wrong. I believe it references the iFrame, but I'm not sure.
I've been to several websites that claim the solution is to add a text box then the html to the text box (via find/replace) but this doesn't work.
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Any suggestions would be super appreciated.

If the code for the button is a JavaScript, then iFrames (HTML snippet) is not the place to put it.
To have the button on your page :
1. create a Text box that is 2 pixels bigger than the actual button,
2. position the text box where you want the button to appear,
3. in this text box type something like AAAA,
4. publish to MobileMe,
5. mount iDisk in the finder,
6. this depends on the button code :
6.1 if the code is specific to 1 page : do it by hand...
6.2 if the code is valid for several pages : use TextWrangler http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/
7. search the HTML file for AAAA
8. replace AAAA with the button code
9. save
10. eject iDisk

Some times when I tell a friend about some pictures I have posted in my mobile me gallery it does not display the e-mail in english. See below:

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It's latin and is place card text which you are expected to replace with the message you want to send. Like the place card text in iPhoto cards and books.

How easy is it to add roll over mouse click buttons to my website, using iWeb 09.

iWeb only supports rollover text, not images.
To use images you have to create them first. One for the normal state and one for the hover or rollover state.
Then you must embed them in iWeb with the HTML Snippet.
Here's such a page :

Instead of two images it uses one that changes position when you hover the mouse over them :

Open the Activity window in Safari, Command-Opion-A, to see the other images. Option-double-click the image to save them.
Also save the webpage and study the code.

Tell-a-friend form shows up when page is printed

I created a web app that inlcudes the option to print and "tell a friend." The only problem is that when you do print, it shows the tell a friend form on the page. You can see what I mean by the attached. Why does this happen, and how can it be fixed!? Thanks.

I recommend checking to see if this form is inserted in the template specified as the 'Print View' template. If you still cannot figure out why this form is appearing, please either provide us with the URL to the site that this is occurring with or reach out to Support via your admin console > Help & Support.

Jump Buttons within one iWeb page

Good morning, I am wondering: Is there any way to create buttons in iWeb that give the viewer of the webpage the option, to jump from top to bottom, middle to top and bottom within the one chosen page? Reomoving the 'Download' button from the iweb page

"Tell a Friend" not working in Aperture 3

After publishing new galleries using MobileMe, the option to "Tell a Friend" does not work. It used to work fine in previous versions of Aperture, but now nothing happens. Using the email option to send a photo works fine.
Has anyone else come across this?

I´m having the same problem, but i've noticed that the same library works on snowleopard (10.6.4) and doesn't work on 10.5.8.
My main computer is a Mac Pro 2007 running 10.5.8, and in this machine, "tell a friend" button does not work.
Any ideas?

I've deleted Aperture preferences, bun in Mail preferences I only can select Mail 3.X.X (Mac OSX 10.5.8)

Imitate Tell-a-friend?

When a customer clicks on a tell-a-friend button, the whole page darkens and the info box pops up in the center of the screen,they fill ou the info then comes the confirmation page...
Any way to do that with the mailing list signup page?

The only workaround that I can see to this requirement is to create a custom web form for your mailing list signup. Within the new custom form details add the "refer-a-friend" feature to allow customers upon signup the ability to refer friends as well through the form within your signup page.

Tell a Friend not working!

My home computer "Tell a Friend" does not work. It does work on my computer at work though.
First, I make a MoblieMe gallery that contains a video, then I click Info, then Tell A Friend. I put in the email addresses that I want and press send. I get a message saying that the email was sent. But, no one gets the email! I even put myself in the addresses, and I do not get an email either. When I do this same thing from my iMac work computer, it works fine! What could be wrong with my iMac at home? It has worked in the past, but is now not working.
