Add photo to contact

today was the first time I tried to add a photo to one of my contact. I clicked on the contact and edit then I clicked on the add photo button and it told me to take a photo. I took a photo of my friend and then I clicked on use photo button. Nothing happended afterwards. Does anyone else have the same problem

Have you tried locating and deleting this preference/plist file:
~(yourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
You may want to rebuild the iPhoto database as well.
Hold down the option & command keys, then run iPhoto and follow the prompts - it can take a while with a large photo library, so be prepared to take a break in that case.

I am unable to add photos to contacts. Pressing the add photo icon produces nothing. This is happening both on my iPhone 5 and iPad 2. Both devices uses iCloud for synchronization.

You use iCloud for synchronization, but is iCloud the actual source of your contacts?
In other words, are you importing your contacts from somewhere else (like Facebook)?

Photos and Contacts

I've pretty much given up trying to add friends pictures to their contact info because as far as I can see, the only way to do this, is to have them in front of you, and take a picture of them with the iPhone itself. Considering I dont see 90% of the people in my contacts list, I have no way to add their photo.
Is there some way to add photos to contacts, aside from actually taking their picture in real-time?

You can add any photo that is on your iPhone, whether you took it with the iPhone camera or imported it from your PC. To import photos from your PC you simply import them into iTunes, then sync them with the iPhone.
You can also attach photos to contacts in Outlook and they will sync to your iPhone.

Not able to add photo/image to an contact. while croping an image during addtion the contacts app reports "unable to save photo edits.
Tried clearing data/cache/reboot.. tried even with file manager, google photos app etc...
Any solutions....??

Add photo to Notes section of Contact Record

When I try to add a photo to the Notes section of a contact record - it will not save. Error message is "Unknown Error".
This used to work fine. How can I fix it?

Which type of email account are you using? Please note that inserting photos into contacts Notes section is not supported in an Outlook.com/Hotmail account connected via Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) in Outlook 2013.
If this is not the case, please try to run a repair of your Outlook data file and then test again. To do this, please refer:

Add or change Contact Photos with Maverick

Add or change contact pictures is not working in Contacts with Maverick! Editing or Changing Contact Photos by double clicking on the photo box opens a menu with the options of: Defaults, iCloud, Faces, and Camera. However if I try and use Faces, the only thing that comes up is a message: "Find and organise photos of people in iPhoto or Aperture using Faces" No Photos load! And yes I do have Faces set up in iPhoto.

So you don't get anything when editing the photo? No window of any kind?
Do you have any other editing issues with those contacts? You could have a corrupt index file that is not letting you edit them.
If it is not a corrupt index, a workaround for putting in photos is you can drop images into the photo frame.

When you have iPhoto and Contacts open and try to drag a picture for iPhoto to the Contacts photo frame do you get a + symbol? if not you should! from there the the pop menu should appear and then you can select the picture and click on done

I currently have 30,000 photos in my i photo library in300 events. Ientally ad. I add photos each day to different events over many years. Currently I download my photos on one of my 6 MacBooks , and eventually I synch the photos to my phone

i have to manually add the photos into one of my 5 MacBooks , synch to my phone and then synch each device to have all my photos be up to date with each event
is there now a way to add photos to my 30,000 photo library on just one device anfd have all my devices synched perfectly through the cloud into events exactly as it appears on my first device ...like our contacts or other synched items on the cloud?
it is critical that the events are maintained and the photos go exactly into place?

Essentially my events become albums...I still have the separation ..correct?
Why would this be a problem?
This was a response from an earlier post from Vanoord that concerned me: quote..see next-
Events has been removed from Photos - it's replaced by 'Moments'.

This response implies that all my 300 events will become separated into thousands of moments. What does this mean? Is this true?
Won't my Events just become albums as you suggested?
I have years of events that have accumulated and collated photos. They must stay separated.
****the other thing I was unclear about was the synching part..
Example:
I have 300 albums with 30K photos distributed in various numbers in each album ( used to be events according to your response)
I add some photos in each album each day
I set all my devices to the cloud etc...
the cloud synchs from my designated "source" Macbook...
the cloud sees this and uploads
then the confusing part...the other devices ( MacBooks, I pad, i phone) all will see the synch and can then be designated to download to each device in the original form as we view it on a Macbook or i phone? What does "full resolution" or optimized previews mean as Leonie replied above?
I need my JPEG images for my education keynote presentations and e mailing images as required from each event as needed ( soon to be albums)

Dont know if you solved your issue since ur question was posted in february and i am replying in july...but i had same issue and couldnt get pics to upload magically from contact list to find friend....but i figured it out....
Go to me tab.
Click on each follower.
Click add to existing contact.
Your contact list should pull up.
Click on contact with pic already on that person.
That should do the trick.

Crash when saving photo when contact edit screen open - anyone else?

On two separate iPhones I have experienced a crash when saving a photo taken from "inside" the contacts edit screen. In both cases the photo app would capture the image and attempt to save. The screen goes black for about 5 seconds then returns to the home screen. The photo is not in the camera roll and the image container on the contact editor screen is empty.
iPhone G3, 16GB, v2.2 <--both phones tested
Sequence: Open Contacts, locate existing entry, tap "edit", tap "add photo", tap "take photo", shoot picture, tap "set photo", system shows "saving photo" pinwheel, then screen goes black.
Doesn't happen every time. One instance corrupted the mail application and applied a false name in the "from" field for many of my emails. Remedy: Reload v2.2 software and restore from backup.
Anyone else see this behavior?

I have had this same problem. As best I can recall, I have the problem every time. I've certainly updated software, reset software and reinstalled 2.2 for my phone, for other reasons. And, I've gotten another friend to duplicate the problem. My workaround is to save the contact info and then take the picture from the camera and then reopen and edit the contact and add the picture. It's just that, sometimes, I make a leap of faith and try to take a save a picture from within the contacts. It's a teeny, minor embarassment when I then have to ask a person for their info again, as the contact crashes before it's been saved.
Mostly, I'd enjoy the elegance of being able to add contacts and their photo at the same time. I know that's what is intended by Apple.
I don't intend to newly install 2.2 software, etc. with my iPhone to try and solve this problem. Just seems like a waste of time at the moment. I just want to state that it's a problem and it would be meaningful for Apple to correct this in 3.0
Life with the iPhone hasn't been perfect, but it has been awesome!

Apparent Bug: Adding photo to Contacts

I was editing a contact and noticed an apparent bug:
Go to Contacts --> Select a Contact (one without an assigned picture) --> Click "edit" --> Click add photo --> Select the option "Take photo" --> Take a photo.
Even after selecting use photo, it will not be added to your contacts. The contact will still show no photo. Additionally, the photo will not be added to your photos album or anything. New bug?

I have noticed this issue and and off throughout the history of my various iPhones. In iOS 4 it is certainly there, but I am honestly unsure if this is a bug with the OS, or something that is in my backups that just continues to manifest as I update/transfer my iPhone to new ones each year.
While I applaud that I have been able to do that and the relative stability, it would be GREAT if I could carry forward application data, yet delete other settings. I'd really like to start my iPhone over (as in, set it up as new and just transfer my apps and their data back to the phone,) but it is really an all or nothing proposition.
Have any of you had this issue after a reset of the iPhone? Are we all people who have carried our phone images forward? Would be curious to know...

I do not think the sample code mentioned addresses the poster's question, which incidentally is also my question also. (apologies if I'm missing some part of the sample.)
To clarify, look at the screenshot he linked to. It appears that the cell is split into two columns- one with text and one with a thumbnail. If you just add an imageview to a single cell beside some text, you won't get this effect. It will look like one continuous cell with two things inside.
I've seen other 3rd party apps (like Splash ID) do this so I know it is possible. But what is the trick?

OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this.

Lenevo K900: Problem with display of photos of contacts

I bought a new K900. Initially it showed the photos in my contacts (after syncing with gmail, what'sapp etc). But, a friend of mine by mistake did some setting change, and it is no more displayed. I've tried to look at all possible manueverings with the settings options in 'Contacts' but I am not able to display the photos of contacts.

Sorry, but Address Book does not allow you to select more than one email address to send to in a group. There's really no reason why people need multiple copies of a message, anyway; they have the option of forwarding email to another email address of theirs.
