Adding 2nd iPhone on same computer

I want to sync my wife's iPhone on my computer to include certain iTunes and calenders but don't want to mix up our email, contacts, or bookmarks. I am currently pushing my mail, contacts, and bookmarks though MobileMe and syncing my calender and music through iTunes. She doesn't have a MobileMe or iTunes account. I have also stayed up w/ iPhone updates for my phone but not yet for her. Will I have to download updates for her iPhone also or can I accomplish that with what I have downloaded so far for my iPhone? We only have 1 computer w/ slow satellite internet. I have also heard about getting a family membership for MobileMe, but not very interested in that unless necessary. Would she need her iTunes account or could I manage through my account. How would creating a second user on my Macbook work into this??

In the info window under calenders it states:
Your calenders are being synced with your iPhone over the air from Microsoft Exchange.
Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone.
I don't want to mess or change the Microsoft Exchange option since it is for her work. Unfortunately, I don't have the options to do what you suggest. I don't want to change any Over-the-air sync settings on her iPhone b/c I feel they are correct for her work sync. Just can't figure out a way to accomplish this. If I were to add an email account to her iPhone, am I stuck w/ using my MobileMe account which would then Push our family calender instead of Sync it through iTunes?

Did you purchase the music through the iTunes Store?
The apps you have purchased can be downloaded for free from the App Store.

  • Connecting iPod and iPhone on same computer

    Hi all !
I have an iPhone which I sync with iTunes on my notebook.
My son has an iPod Touch, and he sync it on his own computer.
I want to upgrade his iPod to OS 3.1 but I'm not nuts, I didn't put my payment informations in his iTune.
How can I buy the update with my Apple ID (on my notebook), and give him for installation on his computer ?
I know, I can't compare, but in the past I had big troubles connecting 2 blackberries on the same computer at work. All the data were mixed on both devices, so I prefer not to connect a 2nd device on my notebook.
    Thank you for help

    The answer was simple :
I connected to my son's iTune with my AppleID and bought the update...
For information : Apple told me not to update but "restore and update" to reorganize the iPod

  • How to sync more than one iPhone on same computer?

I have multiple iphones under my family plan as well as iPad2.   I use one iMac mainly for my business & to update my iphone 4s, and the older intel imac  to update the other devices.
When we try to update/sync we get info from the last person who synced their iphone which is info that the other person may not want.
How does one set up two different 24" Imacs running Lion so that each person's iphone etc. is recognized and contains just their info when opening/syncing to iTunes.
I think I read somewhere that each person needs their own apple ID no./account?
If so, how does having each of us with their own account ID work if we all use the same computer?
Do we need to set up separate individual user accounts and when that person wants to sync to itunes they would log out of which account the computer is and log onto their own account before trying to sync to itunes?
    Thanks
    Bob

It's easier if each person has their own AppleID, that way when the connect they can login to iTunes as their Apple ID and their apps, music, etc.. will sync. The only other way I know how of doing it is create user accounts for each of the people logging into the computer and then they will be forced to used their own AppleID's. To create accounts for each person go to System Preferences - Users & Groups and add users by clicking the + at the bottom of the column.
BTW PLEASE complete your profile. We have a tough time helping if we don't even know what version of OS X you're running and what iMac you have. You can easily do this by clicking Your Stuff in the upper right then click Profile and add the pertinent information.

  • Adding another iPhone to a computer that already has one registered

My iphone was recently stolen, and I am getting another one to replace the stolen one. Since I will be registering another phone to a computer that has an iPhone registered to it that no longer exists, will I be able to register another one? Also, I am on a family plan with my parents and siblings, so will I be able to keep the same account and number? Currently, I have suspended service from the stolen ipod.

An iPhone is not registered to a particular computer. You can activate an iPhone with one computer, and sync it with another. You can sync iTunes content and transfer photos from one computer, but you can sync contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks with multiple computers - with two Windows PCs, with two Macs, or with a Mac and a Windows PC.
You will be able to activate and sync your replacement iPhone with at&t with iTunes on the same computer that you activated and synced your iPhone with that was stolen. You will be able to activate your iPhone with the same account and phone number, but if you contacted at&t to report that your iPhone was stolen, you need to contact at&t to inform them that you purchased a new iPhone and you want to activate your new iPhone with the same number before you do the activation process with at&t.
iTunes creates and maintains a backup for each iPhone that is synced with iTunes on the same computer. After activating your iPhone, select Restore instead of syncing, and select from the backup for your iPhone that was stolen. Your settings from your iPhone that was stolen will be restored to your new iPhone before the sync process.

  • Old & New iPhone on same computer

I will give my wife my current iphone and get the new 3G. Is there going to be a problem when we only have one computer. My concenrs are my iPhone settings, my songs, etc. on itunes and my wife logging in with her "new iPhone" into my computer and my itunes. Would itunes identify corretly both iPhones in my computer?

Itunes is setup to manage multiple phones on one computer so you should be OK. They have a unique identifier and will be treated as separate devices with their own remembered settings. You sync with your phone and disconnect and next time you connect to iTunes, your settings are the same, right? So when you wife connects her phone, any changes she makes will be saved with the phone she uses.
I believe you will be fine.

  • Iphone+itouch same computer

is possible to connect my iphone and ipod touch in same computer win xp itunes 7.7 instaled

Yes, but not at the same time. When you dock either to your PC, it will appear as a device. Select what you want to copy across to whichever is connected and then press sync. If your iTunes library is bigger than your iPhone/iTouch memory, select only sync selected items.

  • Two iPhones using same computer

My husband and I both have iPhones and we use the same computer to backup our phones. We have had the problem of our apps getting loaded onto each other's phones. Is there something we can do to avoid this?

Each of you should only check the apps you want installed on your individual devices. You should select your device, then click on the Apps tab in iTunes main window. Check only the apps you want on your device. Your husband does the same thing for his. When you each sync be sure you use your device's configuration. To do so you must be sure that you each assign a unique name to your device in iTunes.
Please get iPhone User Guide - iOS 6.pdf.

How to have 2 iPhones on the same Computer?

Give each iPhone a unique name.
If you want to separate contacts, backups, etc.,
create a new user account for the second iPhone on the computer.

  • Syncing 2 iphones on same computer

Husband and I both have new iphone 4s.  Syncing on a PC results in each of us having the other's contacts.  How can we stop this??

You can sync multiple iPods and/or iPhones with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer - there is no device limit, and each iPod and/or iPhone can have its own sync preferences with iTunes. IMO, it is best to disable automatic syncing when an iPod or iPhone is connected so you can confirm the sync settings for each iPhone when connected before syncing.

  • Second iPhone on same computer

Just bought my son an iPhone. We share the same computer at home. How should he sync his phone so that he doesn't get all my contacts and calender events. He has already enter a lot of contacts and doesn't want to lose them.

You can share the same iTunes library, Address Book and iCal if you don't mind having your son's contact information and calendar events in your Address Book and iCal.
You can create an Address Book Group for your son to use but all contact in the Group will be available in the Address Book "All" Group. You son can select this Group to be synced. The same for iCal - creating his own calendar and syncing with this calendar only. With iTunes, he can create an iTunes Playlist and transfer this Playlist to his iPhone.
If not and as EP provided, create a user login account for your son - depending on his age and your preference, you can create his account without admin privileges.
OS X is designed for having multiple user login accounts on the same Mac. Each login account has its own Home folder directory for storing data - with each user's Home folder/directory kept separate and protected from other login accounts. You can require a password to log in to your user account and Home folder/directory and enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between login accounts a fast and easy process.
When creating a user login account for your son, he can access his email account or accounts with the Mail application or with his email client of choice, his own contact information in the Address Book, his own calendar events in iCal, Safari bookmarks and iTunes music - kept completely separate and protected from the same with your login account.

  • Syncing 2 iphone on same computer...

    Hi
    I need you expertize
Someone nea to me say that he synced his iphone on the same computer than another friend who already had synced his own phone on this same computer.
The guy tell me that now when i send him text message the otther receive it too...
Question, do you think is lying or is in theory possible please ?

Both phones are tied to the same AppleID, both get same iMessage.  But if the text message is not an iMessage and got sent thru the carrier, then each phone is different cause of the phone #. iMessages get sent thru the Internet and the carrier doesn't handle them.  So clarify to see if leg pulling is occurring.

  • How to set up two iphones on same computer

I'm trying to set up a second Iphone on my computer.  When I try to download music, it has information from my first Iphone.  How do I set up a second Iphone?  I've created all the accounts I can think of but it's like it doesn't recognize my second phone.  Thanks

Your music tracks and other media are associated with your account.  If you have two phones associated with one account it thinks you want the media on both phones.
If this second phone really isn't for you, then create another account for this other person on your computer and run iTunes on that account.

  • SYNC 2ND IPHONE TO SAME ITUNE ACCOUNT

My husband and I both now have Iphones. He currently has an Itune account on our laptop. I would like to sync my new iphone to the same account on the same laptop. When I plug mine in am I going to uninstall his??

No, there is no install/uninstall with an iPhone.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When syncing iTunes content and transferring photos with another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
You can sync multiple iPhones and/or iPods with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on a single computer. There is no limit for the number of iPhones and/or iPods that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on a single computer.
