Adding an e-mail account with no password

I used to have my work e-mail address (not an enterprise account) linked to my blackberry. I have no idea how it happened. When I tried to set it up it asked for a password and I didn't have one for it. I closed the e-mail set-up thinking it had not worked.  However, despite the blackberry saying it could not set-up the account, lo and behold a few minutes later I got the e-mail account activation message and everything was working. This was before I downloaded the new OS.
Fast forward to today: the e-mail account accidently was deleted. Now when I try to set it up I get more or less the same messages but it does not work magically as it did before.
I have contacted our IT administrator to ask if there is ac password for my specific e-mail.  We use Microsoft Exchange Server.  He told me there are no other passwords than the one I use to access my e-mail through the internet.  However, I have tried that password and it does not work.
Any help about this issue is appreciated.

It will need the password. Have you by chance reset the password and re-tried?
failing that, try loging into your BIS account here
rogers.blackberry.com
and then setting up your email once logged into BIS account.
If you have forgotten your BIS login credentials. you can contact Rogers to have them reset it.

    I have this requirement. Client uses exchange server. Two people will have the same email account with different passwords.
    To open the mail account, both of them together have to provide the password in 2 steps. Can 2 static passwords can be supported in this scenario or it has to be like 2 step validation with one static password and one dynamic code received through a phone.

    You seem to be interested in something like 2-factor or
    Multi-factor authentication (MFA), however 2 passwords for single
    AD account is not supported by Active Directory.

  • Unable to add a mail account, with Invalid Password error message, yet can log into mail system OK through a browser. Mail technicians can't find the problem.

    When I try to add a newly-created Bigpond account to Thunderbird, I get an error message "User Name or Password Invalid", yet I can log in to this account OK through a browser. When adding the account, Thunderbird says "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database". I have previously successfully added Bigpond, Yahoo, Outlook and Hotmail accounts to Thunderbird and they are working fine. The Bigpond Technical Support staff have looked into this and cannot see what is wrong but they say they do not support Thunderbird. Any ideas appreciated...

    Thanks. I had tried the auto and manual setups with the same result. IN addition, the Bigpond Support sent me the following which I also tried and got the same result.
    For the settings that needs to be configured for your new mailbox, kindly follow the steps listed below:
    (**Note: Please be advised that BigPond technical support team is only trained for Microsoft mail clients like Outlook Express, windows Live mail and the like. Having said this, we can only provide limited assistance in setting up your email account for your Thunderbird mail client by providing the correct settings that need to be configured.)
    For IMAP server settings:
    Account Type: IMAP
    Incoming IMAP server: imap-mail.outlook.com
    Incoming IMAP mail: port 993
    Outgoing SMTP server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
    Outgoing SMTP port: 587 (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
    Incoming uses SSL: On (this is required)
    Outgoing uses SSL: On (this is required) (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
    Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Same as incoming mail server
    For POP server settings:

    - From the drop down list, click on 'Options'.

    In looking at the Thunderbird error message, it seems to consistently refer to the User Name and Password. I know they are correct, as I can log in from a browser using them. Is there something in the validation rules that might be the problem? Also, you may be aware that Bigpond is migrating their old Webmail system across to the Outlook platform. Registering new e-mail accounts in Bigpond get created on the Outlook platform, whereas older accounts are still on the Bigpond Webmail system. Is this causing a problem somewhere in validation?

    There is no full or partial password protection that is really more than an inconvenience.
    You could however use the operating system permissions, but again whole application would be the result.
    I have heard of updates occasionally reverting to English, an install will set it back. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all.html as data and program are separate reinstalling will not be an issue.

    Good Day...
    Seems to be the Issue is Syncing emails, now I would recommend you to Remove and Add the Account and try and check if the emails are getting synced automatically.
    Hope this is with Single User. If it is with Multiple Users then we need to check the permissions assigned.

    If the old ID ("email address) is yours, and is an ealier version of your current iCloud ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

    I have an initial account established at work. I receive all my personal email there. I am also part of a team that monitors a shared account. I've seen various how-to's around the web that speak to shared accounts in Mail. Unfortunately those articles are fairly old now. I am running Mail v7.0 on Maverick. When I try to set up this extra account I'm always prompted for a password... which the shared account does not have. Any thoughts?

    Can you set it up manually and either not set the password, or set a fake one, then remove it after creating the account.
    To manually set up, hold the option key on the screen where you set the email address and password; the Create button will change to Next.

    Have you logged on to the webmail account using a browser and enabled either Pop or Imap forwarding for that email address?
    Have you created a mail account in Thunderbird that uses the chosen webmail forwarding option?
    Password - make sure caps lock is not switched - it must be the same password you use to access the webmail account.
