Adding / deleting loops - where Garageband is relevant....

All - this is a question involving Garageband, but only because I have heard Logic will "inherit" GB projects, so I'm assuming (not having bought it yet, pending this question possibly), that Logic operates its loops area the same way.
I stumbled on this (archived) thread....
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1896042
... trying to find out why I couldn't:
a) delete a loop folder that I added:
I know where the Library\Audio\Apple Loops\User Loops folders are, and have
- deleted a couple folders I dragged to the Loop Browser,
- deleted the index files, etc,
...but there is still one folder showing up in the "User Loops" menu section, and all its files, and this folder is NOT in the above Library\Audio\Apple Loops\User Loops folder path. Where is it, and its files?
Also, I thought I read that you could delete individual loop files just using the Delete key. That doesn't respond either, but it could be because I'm using a Windows keyboard.
b) see other loop folders show up that I tried to add:
After seeing two folders show up that I dragged to the L.B., no other folders dragged will show up, in the browser or in the Library\Audio\Apple Loops\User Loops folder/area. I tried
- copying a folder full of files (these are all .wav files by the way) to the
above ...\User Loops path, then
- dragging that to the L.B., which started a "Garageband is reindexing... "
message... but it never showed up in the L.B., nor did it make a new index
file.
All very odd and inconsistent. If Logic uses the same sort of loop add/delete browser functionality, it's doubtful if I'm going to buy it, if I can't even get this problem solved. I need to be able to use my own drum loop files, and see them. Thanks in advance for any help. It's GB '09 v5.1 by the way.

Typically I have had this happen when the loops I have tried to add, were not proper Apple Loops for some reason... I assume you have been using the ALU to create the Apple Loops yes? if so, did you enter info in all the fields needed?
There can be other reasons though...
For example,
Are the loops in other time sigs to 4/4 for example? If so make sure you select ANY in the Signature drop down menu in the Loop Browser to see them...otherwise you only see loops in 4/4 and they won't show up when you look for them. The same applies to to the scale filter in the browser too...Set that to ANY too...
Finally, to confirm it is an error of some kind, be it user or Logic...have you checked the actual Apple Loops Folder to make sure the missing ones do actually reside there?

  • What's the trick?  Can't delete loops from Garageband loop browser.

Am I missing something? I've tried to delete 3rd party loops directly from the Garageband loop browser, but could not. It wouldn't work in Garageband 08, and it won't work in '09.
These loops were all added to the library by drag and drop into the loops browser.
Is there something I need to do with file permissions?

I think you can only delete loops from the browser that you created yourself with GB.
Just delete the loops in the Finder and re-index everything.

  • Looping delete statement where table name is coming from another table

    Hi All,
We have to write code to delete records from active tables of WDSO.We have 5 DSO  so inspite of writing delete statement for each table we want to put all table names into one table and then loop through it .but we are getting error when we are refering that table field which has active table name.error is :
"dictionary structure or table is either not active or does not exist "
As per my understanding in a delete /select /insert /update statement we need to put table name (whose field we are refering ) it can't be replaced by a variable .
    ex: v_table = 'EMPLOYEE' .
    DELETE FROMv_table WHERE EMP_NAME = 'ABDC' .
is wrong and it must be like
ex : DELETE FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE EMP_NAME = 'ABDC' .
but we want to make our code dynamic .
Can you please suggest a way so that we can read the table names from another table and delete data based on some selection fom those tables .
I tried variants ,perform etc and even searched FM for the same but not found a solution .Your help will be greatly appreciated .
    Thanks in advance .

    Hi,
You can change your statement as follows:
    DELETE FROM (v_table) WHERE EMP_NAME = 'ABDC' .
However, I would not recommend this. There is a standard function module RSAN_ODS_DATA_DELETE which allows selective deletion - that should be a safer way to do this. You can

  • Installed Jam Pack but see no new loops in Garageband loop browser. Why not?

I successfully installed Jam Pack but don't see new loops in Garageband loop browser. Is there some extra step I'm supposed to do? Before, I had about 57 Rock/Blues loops, and I still have just that. I had 14 instruments under All Drums, and guess what? Still only 14.
I know the install completed successfully - it said so, anyway.
    Clues?

Have you filters set on the Loop Browser?  Make sure the GarageBand Preference "Loops > Keyword Browsing > Filter for more relevant content" is off.  Otherwise you will  see a fraction of the available loops.
To see, if the JamPack has been installed, set the pop-up meu at the top of the Loop Browser to "Rhythm Section". Is that available?
Did you reindex your Loops after installing the Jam Pack? And did you restart the Mac? In Mt. Lion only restarting a Mac will ensure, that an application is not resumed from a cache, when you launch it again.Restarting the Mac will terminate GarageBand for sure.
If restarting the Mac does not make the JamPack Loops show, rebuild the Loop index.  See:  Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand 6 or earlier - Apple Support

  • Greyed out loops in Garageband 11?

I installed GB11 from the Mountain Lion's Appstore and not from an iLife DVD. It required an update for the loops and most of them downloaded but there are still some greyed out buttons.
    Here's a pic: http://imgur.com/5OgugCL
All the support pages and discussions  gave me zero help thus far. I even tried downloading an update right from Apple's Garageband support pages for version 6.0.5, but that's apparently only for those who have installed via DVD. Solutions anyone? Please and thanks!

Contrary to the above response, it is NOT normal, and the grayed out loops are not supposed to be grayed out. It is not because you don't own Jam Packs and have them installed; the missing loops are not Jam Pack content.
The missing loops do belong in GarageBand '11, and have to be downloaded from Apple and installed into GB. The problem is, GB is broken in this respect, and it will not download the loops, and the App Store will also not update the loops. GarageBand will say it is downloading them in Software Update, but it will not do so.
I called AppleCare about this, and it took a couple tries, but we got it solved. It's complicated to do so.
It is, the support person said, the one thing broken in GB '11. Anyway, here's the procedure that worked to get them to install. (Hope I'm not giving up any state secrets here; they didn't swear me to secrecy and others do have the problem.)
First thing to do is go to GarageBand and make it go through its fakeout cycle telling you it's updating the loops. Click on any gray loop's download arrow, and tell it to download it now. It'll open App Store, and that won't download anything, and it'll all fail. Quit App Store and GarageBand.
Next, you need an administrator login user. I created one, called "apple" -- do this in the Users & Groups panel in System Preferences. (You do need admin privileges to do this; you may already have them in your own login, and thus not need to create an administrator login.) Gave it an easy password. Then, with Fast User Switching, I logged in as the administrator "apple."
It'll take a few minutes for your machine to set up this new user, so be patient until it's all logged in. (The mouse will be slow. You can change that in System Preferences Mouse panel if you want to.)
Now, open a Terminal window. Fastest way to do this: Spotlight (Cmd-Space), type in "terminal" and hit Return key once Terminal is highlighted in the Spotlight list.
Let Terminal get all set up, with a cursor available.
    You'll see something very like:
Last login: Sat Jun 29 18:55:22 on console
    ComputerName:~ apple$
    At the cursor prompt, type:
    sudo softwareupdate --list
    Hit Return. Now you'll see:
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.
    Password:
Type in the password you created, and hit Return. Now you should see:
    Software Update Tool

       * GBExtraContent-1.0
GarageBand Instruments and Apple Loops (1.0), 1170290K [recommended]
Select and then copy (cmd-C) the GBExtraContent-1.0
Now, type at the ComputerName:~ apple$ prompt:
    sudo softwareupdate --install GBExtraContent-1.0
Now, you'll see the update take place. It'll look like this:
    Software Update Tool
    Copyright 2002-2010 Apple
Downloading GarageBand Instruments and Apple Loops
       104 KB of 1.2 GB
       1 MB of 1.2 GB — About 14 minutes
       2.5 MB of 1.2 GB — About 10 minutes
       4.1 MB of 1.2 GB — About 8 minutes
       6.1 MB of 1.2 GB — About 7 minutes
[This will continue until it's all downloaded.]
What you're seeing in that counting of GB and minutes is the countdown of the download and the install time. Let it run until it completes.
Give it a couple minutes to complete installing, and then start GarageBand in the admin login. It will take some time for GB to start up, because it's the first startup for this user. Several minutes.
Once it has completed (it takes a while, as I said), go to the Loop Browser. They should all be there, no gray.
Quit GB and go to your normal User and start GB there. The loops should all be present. If not, quit it and restart it. Now they should all be there.
At least, this worked for me this way.

  • Deleting Loops

May someone please tell me how to delete the loops in Garageband that came with Soundtrack Pro? The the thing is, I uninstalled Soundtrack pro and it's loops. But Garageband still has SP's loops in the loop browser, but the loops are gone. Poof! Not in the hard drive. So the loops are still under GB, but you can't listen to them because I deleted them along with Soundtrack Pro. Which is worthless, so which is why I want to delete them.

    reindex them:

Are you looking in the library in your Home Folder

The loops should be installed in the System Library

  • Dynamic where clause in "delete itab where..." variant

Hi,  I need to be able to delete the contents of an internal table based on a dynamic where clause. I don't want to loop through the entire table to test each record.  Since the delete statement doesn't seem to allow a dynamic "where" clause I am trying to use a macro.  I can't get the macro to work either.
I get the following error in my syntax check:
Statement concluding with "...FINAL_STATEMENT" ended unexpectedly.
Is there any way to get this macro to pass the syntax text or accomplish the dynamic delete?

  • Adding/Deleting rows in a Table

I am trying to get a couple of buttons to work in a table to add/delete rows. I have followed the directions in the LiveCycle designer help and it isn't working.
In a test setup the only difference I can see from the help file is my Table is called Table1 and the subform containing the 2 buttons is called Subform1
I have therefore amended the script for the click event for the AddRow to
    "Table1.Row1.instanceManager.addInstance(1);"
Any ideas where I am going wrong?
    TIA

    Hi,
My usecase is that user enters a url with parameters for example in the text box--> http://host:port/employee/all?department=abc&location=india. Now i want to parse this url , get the parameters out and put it in the table so that it is convenient for users to modify these parameters. User has a option to add and delete the parameter in the table. So once all this is done and user clicks on say save i don't need to send this table to server. i just have to make sure that the values added/deleted from the table are in sync with the url. So in the server i get all the parameters from the url and continue.
Since this is only needed on the client side i wanted to know if we can create a table with no values and then say on tabbing out of the url text box call a javascript that takes value from it and adds new rows to the table.
    I am using JDEVADF_MAIN_GENERIC_140109.0434.S

  • Scripts for adding/deleting/modifying Open Directory accounts?

I think I have searched high and low for an answer to this question, but if I missed it please point me in the right direction. Where can I find information on scripts for adding/deleting/modifying open directory accounts? At the very least, a command line utility with some syntax guidelines! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I personally don't know if any scripts although you can use the command line to do pretty much anything you want with the Open Directory. Consult the manual: man dscl. If you launch terminal and issue dscl you should see something like this:
    my-Laptop:~ me$ dscl
    dscl (v20.4)
    usage: dscl [options] [<datasource> [<command>]]
    datasource:
    localhost (default) or
<hostname> (requires DS proxy support, >= DS-158) or
<nodename> (Directory Service style node name) or
    <domainname> (NetInfo style domain name)
    options:
-u <user> authenticate as user (required when using DS Proxy)
    -P <password> authentication password
    -p prompt for password
-raw don't strip off prefix from DS constants
-url print record attribute values in URL-style encoding
-q quiet - no interactive prompt
    commands:
    -read <path> [<key>...]
    -create <record path> [<key> [<val>...]]
    -delete <path> [<key> [<val>...]]
    -list <path> [<key>]
    -append <record path> <key> <val>...
    -merge <record path> <key> <val>...
    -change <record path> <key> <old value> <new value>
    -changei <record path> <key> <value index> <new value>
    -search <path> <key> <val>
    -auth [<user> [<password>]]
    -authonly [<user> [<password>]]
    -passwd <user path> [<new password> | <old password> <new password>]
    Entering interactive mode...
The above is for 10.4 and should server equally as well for 10.5.

  • Greyed out options on Apple loops on GarageBand ipod 5

i have some greyed out catagories for Apple loops in GarageBand, and I see that i can get some additional stuff free under in app purchases in the App Store, though I have no idea to get to it. How can I get the other loops?

I had a similar problem with songs greyed out and not syncing and apps not syncing either. I also tried multiple restarts and redownloading iOS5 etc. The one thing which seems to have sorted it out for me is buying a (free) app from the app store on my iphone and then syncing with itunes. Oddly enough this seems to have woken itunes up to the fact that stuff wasn't synced and started the process of a full sync.
A bit random and i read this on another thread, but it worked for me.

    Jonas,
I think what you want is a 3D plot of a cylinder. I have attached an example using a parametric 3D plot.
You will probably want to duplicate the points for the first theta value to close the cylinder. I'm not sure what properties of the graph can be manipulated to make it easier to see.
