Adding Events in Calendar

Is there a setting on iphone that will automatically set an alert when setting a new event within calendar (like it does in ical)?

I have the same problem.

  • Adding event deletes calendar

I have three calendars called Scripts (has repeating events that run scripts), Special and Reminders. I created these a few weeks ago. I just tried to add a repeating event to the Reminders calendar. I tried two different ways:
With all calendars showing - add the event
With only reminders showing - add the event
In both cases during the process of adding the event, all events for the Scripts calendar are deleted.
This is driving me crazy since when I created the three calendars a few weeks ago I was able to selectively add events to any calendar.
Running the latest iCal 5.0.1 on Lion 10.7.2.

Gave up on this and recreated all three calendars again. Changed the name on the calendar previously called "Reminders" too "Tweaks" in case that caused an issue (pure WAG).
While recreating I opened and quit the iCal app several times with no problems. Will post here if the problem reoccurs. In the meantime I'm saving the iCal data in my Library every day and also the Prefs.

  • Problem adding events to calendar - they don't show up

I have an intermittent and very strange problem which occurs when adding an event to the calendar on my iPhone 4 (Verizon - running latest iOS).
I will create an event, fill out time, date, name, etc and click done, and then the event will not show up in the calendar. Sometimes I can go through this process five or six times in a row before the event finally appears. None of the other attempts ever show up later, and they're not findable via search, so I know this isn't either me doing something dumb (like entering the wrong date) or a delay of some kind.
I am using MobileMe and the calendar in question is always a MobileMe calendar, simply because those are the only ones I use. I have not tested this with the iPhone local calendar.
Recently, I experienced the same issue when deleting an event. It took a few tries before the deletion did anything.
This occurs probably 80% of the time I create an event, and has always occurred. It NEVER happens when I create an event via a hyperlinked date/time shortcut suggestion in an email or the like.
    Has anyone experienced this?

If you only have one account, it, inherently will be the default.
On the iPhone, Settings >Mail, Contacts, Calendar
Scroll down. In each section there should be a 'Default Account'. So one form Mail, Contacts and Calendar. Check that the one account you have / use is set to the default.

  • Adding events in calendar from numbers or text file

    Hey guys,
Ive had a look around and it seems like theres a few similar requests, but I'm not great at scripting and the like.
Essentially we have our shifts in either .txt or .numbers format and am just wanting to import them into ical as events with a start time, end time, location and name.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
I've attached a copy of what i get, hopefully its helpful.
    Thnaks, Ben.

Had to guess about your Numbers table format. You mention start, end, location, and "name" but I can only see start and end.
If you have a source table in Numbers somewhat like this:
    start date
    end date
    location
    summary
    9/15/14 12:00:00 PM
    9/15/14 1:00:00 PM
    The office
    Event Title 1
    9/15/14 2:00:00 PM
    9/15/14 3:00:00 PM
    The office
    Event Title 2
Then a script like this should work (copy into AppleScript Editor, click anywhere in source table, and run):
property calendarName : "Test" -- name of target calendar -- must exist in Calendar App
property firstDataRow : 2 -- 2 if have a Header Row in table
-- map these to column numbers in your table:
    property sdtCol : 1 --  start date-time column number
    property edtCol : 2 --  end date-time column number
property locCol : 3 -- location column number
property summCol : 4 -- summary (title) column number
property localTimeAdj : (time to GMT) -- to convert back to local time
    tell application "Numbers"
set t to front document's active sheet's first table whose selection range's class is range
set vv to t's rows's cells's value -- place values in "list of lists"
repeat with r from firstDataRow to count vv
       tell vv's item r
        try
set startDT to (item sdtCol) - localTimeAdj
set endDT to (item edtCol) - localTimeAdj
         set locat to item locCol
         set summary to item summCol
       end try
if item 1 is not missing value then my createEvent(calendarName, summary, startDT, endDT, locat)
       end tell
      end repeat
    end tell
to createEvent(calName, cSumm, cStart, cEnd, cLoc)
      tell application "Calendar"
tell (first calendar whose name is calName)
make new event at end of events with properties ¬
      {summary:cSumm, start date:cStart, end date:cEnd, location:cLoc}
       end tell
      end tell
    end createEvent
    Usage notes:
Be sure to click somewhere in the table before running the script. Otherwise it won't know which table you mean.
This assumes you have Numbers 3.  Numbers 2 would require some adjustments.
Be sure to edit the calendarName property to match the name of your target calendar in the Calendar app, and the other properties to match your table.

  • Adding event on calendar

Hello I have noticed when you add an event on the iphone to your calendar and you need it to repeat there is no custom option to be able to select wich days of the week you need it to repeat. am I being forced to correct it on my computer or is this one of the wants we need to comunicate ti apple for the update.

*"Hello I have noticed when you add an event on the iphone to your calendar and you need it to repeat there is no custom option to be able to select wich days of the week you need it to repeat."*
Correct! There's no option for a "specific" day to repeat. The only options are the ones given (ex. Every Day, Every Week, etc.) unless you go to each specific day and manually add your event.

  • Is there a way to automatically update events in the Outlook 2010 calendar when adding events in the iCloud calendar in Outlook 2010?

I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. I have synced my Outlook calendar with my iPhone using the iCloud Control Panel. This is great, but when I add an event in the iCloud calendar in Outlook 2010 and subsequently send out invitations to the event, I get the following error:
"This meeting is not in the Calendar folder for this account. Responses to this meeting will not be tallied. Do you want to send anyway?"
I select "Yes" and the invite goes out. However, when invitees receive the email invitation, there should be 2 emails - one from Outlook and one from iCloud. The iCloud invite does not always come through. If the invitee responds to the Outlook email invite, it does not show up on the iCloud Calendar.
Is there a reason that the iCloud email is not always sent or is there a way to some how update the Windows Outlook Calendar when adding events in the iCloud Calendar through Outlook?

I have just discovered this problem as well.
    Very annoying!
Now all off my meetings entered in Outlook on my desktop PC are not syncing with my ipad and iphone.
If I had known this would have happened I would never have downloaded Version 2.0 of the icloud control panel.
Does anyone know how I can get the earlier version back?

  • How do I set 4 weekly events in calendar?

I want to add a 4 weekly event in calendar on my iPhone 4S. The only option close is either two weekly or monthly both of which are no good to me.

Roger make sure you have location services turned in in System Preferences / Privacy and make sure the Calendar is checked.
As a test, I turned mine off and then I saw the same problems on the Calendar as you described. Once your turn them on, you should be able to add locations and a map will appear at the bottom of the screen where you edit the event details. You can double click the map to open Maps and get directions.
    Stephen. In reply to this:
Some events give me the Travel Time option, but only from "Work" and not "Home".  My actual work events don't give me the Travel Time option, maybe because iCal thinks I am already there?
I played around for a bit and think I found an answer. If I have no events on a day and I schedule one for anytime until 6:00pm, it will give the travel time from Work. If I add an event or change the time to 6:01pm or later, it will give the travel time from home.
If there are other events with locations already on the calendar and I add a new event reasonably close to one of them, it will give the travel time from the location of the previous event.
I haven't found a way to change the "from" location without adding another event or just typing in a travel time manually, but overall the automated system works pretty good.

  • How to Set A Default Start Time For New Events In Calendar?

How to Set A Default Start Time For New Events In Calendar?

    John,
Thanks for that suggestion - could not get it to work. However, I did manage a different approach. I finally determined the sequence of events in terms of how the various events and listeners fire (I think).
Basically, the CalendarActivityListener fires, followed by the listener associated with the Calendar object's Create facet, followed finally by the CalendarEventListener - the final is where the TriggerEvent is available and then finally, control is passed to the popup/dialog in the Create facet. So, my approach of trying to set/get the TriggerDate in the user's HTTP session was doomed to failure because it was being get before it had been set :(
Anyway, I ended up adding a bit of code to the CalendarEvent listener - it grabs the current BindingContext, navigates through the DCBindingContainer to derive an Iterator for the ViewObject which drives the calendar and then grabs the currently active row. I then do a few tests to make sure we're working with a "new" row because I don't want to alter start & end dates associated with an existing calendar entry and then I define the Start and End dates to be the Trigger Date.
Works just fine. Snippet from the listener follows
    BindingContext bindingContext = BindingContext.getCurrent();+
    *if ( bindingContext != null )    {*+
    DCBindingContainer dcBindings = (DCBindingContainer) bindingContext.getCurrentBindingsEntry();+
    DCIteratorBinding iterator = dcBindings.findIteratorBinding("EventsView1Iterator");+
    Row currentRow = iterator.getCurrentRow();+
    if ( currentRow.getAttribute("StartDate") == null)+
    currentRow.setAttribute("StartDate", calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());+
    if (currentRow.getAttribute("EndDate")==null)+
    currentRow.setAttribute("EndDate", calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());+
    *}*

  • Single Event / Multiple Calendars. Share All iCal At Once.....

    Hi,
I would like to share my calendars with my partner - we are both iCal/iCloud users.
We would like a calendar that is for our own personal use, which is straight forward enough, but it would be great if single entries within that calendar can be added to multiple calendars, so an event could be added to 'personal' as well as 'projectX'. Is this possible?
Also, I use iCal for scheduling my work and individual projects - each project has it's own calendar. Is it possible for me to share all of those calenders wholesale without having to share each individual one?... essentially a single read only calender share so that my partner doesn't get the clutter of multiple calenders but get's the overall picture.
Thanks in advance for any help!

How about just inserting the URL's for multiple documents in
    an email?

  • Problem setting 2 alerts while saving an event in Calendar?

An incredibly annoying quirk that I have to believe is a software issue-pssst Apple, FIX IT!
Task: Saving a new event in Calendar with both First alert & Second alert. First Alert set (for example) to "30 min before" - Second Alert set to "At time of event."
Problem: Second alert will swap positions with first alert.
My Theory: Every instance where I enter the same time for "Start" time and "End" time for the event (my usual practice) I am forced to swap back the alert times  before selecting "Done."
Why I hate this problem: I have to ALWAYS enter my alert times TWICE. I almost always select the start and end times as the same because I am not concerned about when an event is ending. I only need to be notified when an appointment is coming up.
To clarify, my phone does this only when I select the same time for both "Start" and "End" of an event (again my usual).

    Hi Leonard,
Do you mean you added a valid value to the ComboBox which is "-" as the value so that in the UI the ComboBox displays an entry "- -"?
Please note that (if I recall that correctly) the "-" is always there - even, if value + description are set as "".
    Best regards,
    Frank
PS: Sorry, due to the horizontal scrolling I cleicked on "eMail" instead of "Reply".

  • Cannot enter an event on calendar

How can an event be added to a calendar?  Every time that I enter the info for an event and press "return" per the instructions, my event disappears.

    Hi mgdugas,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below will review how to add an event to your calendar.  There are several ways to do it, so possibly trying one of the alternatives will work for you.

  • "Create Quick Event" in Calendar - specify location

I'm adding a list of events from a spreadsheet into Calendar. I can copy the spreadsheet text then paste it into "Create Quick Event" in Calendar, which does a pretty good job of guessing what I'm talking about.
The problem I have is that it seems to be impossible to get the location to be specified - meaning I'll have to go into each event and manually edit Each attempt (see below) results in the locations text being added onto the Event's title.
    I've tried:
    In X
    At X
    Location X
    Location: X
    (X)
(X, followed by the postcode/ZIP code)
    Thanks !

I don't know that it can be turned off, and I don't even use Apple's Calendar much (as a BusyCal user), but you might find it's useful if you learn to use it as intended. That box is pretty smart if you mention the date and location in the box before hitting enter.
Just type the date, time, and place in that "title" box:
"Birthday party Friday 8:00 PM at Joe's Place"
That pops up an event with a start date of the next Friday (e.g., 10/05/2012 today in the US), start time of 8:00 PM, and "Joe's Place" in the location. It strips out the date and time before creating the event title that it pops up; it leaves the location in the title, but the title comes up selected so you can edit it before confirming the event with the "Done" button.
The event is entered in the default calendar, but you can select any calendar by holding down the "+" button a second or two. There may be a way to do it with the menu or the keyboard command-n shortcut, but I haven't found it; you can select another calendar on the popup before hitting the "Done" button.

  • Repeat events on calendar not syncing properly

I am trying to sync my calendar on mobileme with my iphone, I need to create individual events which repeat every 70 days, I can sucessfully do this on mobileme, however when syncing with the iphone it changes all events to repeat every 24 days ??
    Any help would be good

Items that I enter on my iphone also get added to a calendar that I subscribe to, which is supposed to be read only, even though I have chosen another calendar to add new items too. My read-only calendar does not appear in the select box in the itunes info sync page, but it is getting the events, no matter what calendar I do choose. Then when the calendar gets auto refreshed from its source, the events disappear. I cannot change the events to place them on a different calendar, once they are in iCal my, because the calendar is read-only -- to everything but iphone.

  • Calendar added in Google Calendar not updating in iCal

    Hi,
I added a new calendar (my hockey schedule from the leagues website) and it appeared in the 'other calendars' section in Google Calendar. I'm using Google Sync with iCal to keep them in sync. The problem is that this calendar didn't sync to my iCal calendar. When I add individual events in Google Calendar it updates automatically in my iCal application and vice versa.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Brandon
    I'm using:
    Google Calendar and Sync

Here is something to try to see if it is an account issue or a system wide issue.
If you create a new user account and try syncing just the calendar events, does it sync from the iphone to the computer.
To test this open system preferences and go to accounts.
Create a new account, call it test or something.
    Log into the new account.
Open ical ant put in at least one event. If you do not put at least one event into ical, itunes does not know to merge the data and could erase the events on the iphone.
Once the test event is in ical, open itunes and go through the initial setup.
Then connect the iphone and sync just the calendar events.
    Hope this helps.
