Adding logos to footage - Title ? or direct to timeline ?

Good morning gentlemen,
I've got a good topic for discussion this morning.
I've got 2 logos which I wish to add to a series of videos.
I'm debating on what is proper technique here.
- Do I create a new Title and add both logos (.png) to the title, and then apply this to the timeline....
Or....
- Do I add each logo to the timeline individually, and go this route ?
Which technique do you usually use gentlemen ?
Dave.

@ david
I am full aware of that and forgetting nothing.
I SIMPLY suggested if you want the best quality apply the graphic in the timeline.
YOUR OWN CONCLUSSION WAS "One thing I must mention..... adding a logo ( png ) to a title, and applying a title, vs adding to the timeline gives a slightly different result... I find adding directly to the timeline results in a cleaner logo... ( the logo in the title doesn't look as clear )"
If you really need it same place everytime. Create it in Photoshop already positioned and scaled to your frame. Then drag it on to the timeline everytime you need it. (Tip: Make a Photoshop Canvas same as your frame size or work over a frame grab as a guide)
BTW: I prefer to use full size graphics and to scale and position them everytime. Allows more flexibilty and maximises quality. eg. If I have to go back to photoshop with it , I am working with a decent rez that I can scale down to suit.

  • Need Help with adding Logo to footage!!

I have been looking everywhere over the net the and cant seem to find anything!
I want to add a small picture (logo) to the bottom corner of my footage like TV stations have on their footage.
I am able to add the Image but not make the background of the logo transparent. (ex. if the logo is a red circle on a blue background I want to get rid of the blue so its just the red circle.)
Is there anyway to make part of the image transparent? (note: i have access to photoshop)

    Well...
I did leave out one VERY important step!!!
    Sorry-
Make sure your background in PS is transparent too.

  • Relinking logo imports in title designer.

I am working on premiere projects in more than one location, 2 different computers. I transfer file folders on a harddrive, I can relink all image/footage added but I cant relink images imported through the logo selection in title maker. Does anyone know of a way to relink title images? It would help greatly. Im using CS5 by the way.

When you migrate the Project on the external, is it being assigned the same drive letter in the OS of each (Windows)?
If not, go into the OS and assign it the same drive letter, for both computers.
I've not experienced this with logos, in Titler, but maybe just have not used that (usually work in PS for this sort of thing, most often), and just never noticed broken links - though I do migrate a ton of Projects, but all of my externals have unique drive letters, that are the same in the OS of all computers.
    Good luck,

  • How can I import/paste a corporate logo into a title?

I am new to working with FCP X and am trying to import a corporate logo into a title clip.  Can someone give me an idea of how to go about accomplishing this?  Thanks ever so much, in advance!
    - Austin

What you probably want is to create a compound clip. You can edit a FCP X title and an image or video into it (and just about anything else, for that matter). The compound clip will sit in your event and can be reused at will. This is ideal for a video introduction that is to be used over and over on different projects.
Keep in mind that since 10.0.6 the relationship between compound clips in the event browser and in the project timelines has changed. Now there is a parent-child relationship, meaning that any change you make in any copy of the compound clip will affect all of them (unless you make a new "parent" clip).

  • Titles stretched in the timeline in Premiere Pro CS6

I think it has something to do with the aspect ratio but this was never a problem before for me. I did check the aspect ratio and made sure it was the same, but when I bring the title in to the timeline it's stretched wide. When I'm editing the title it looks fine, but when I bring it in, it stretches. Somehow it worked for me on the last video in the series but when I bring it in for the next video in the series with all the same properties it stretches again. I'm up to date with my software. Is anyone else having this issue with titles?

Can you take some screen shots of the preview area with the title selected and with your sequence selected. Then we can have more info to troubleshoot.

  • Using hd footage in a 720/480 timeline

I am working on a project where I need to eventually export to 320x240. Most of my material is mini dv, however one piece is HD. I am having trouble exporting with the hd on the timeline so that the finished product is 4:3 and properly fills the screen. Right now there are black margins on both sides no matter what I do.
    thanks

Here's one way to do this:
In FCP, drop you HD footage into a separate HD timeline. You said, :03, this should encode very fast. Is your HD footage shot at 24p as well? If so the downconversion will be easy. If not it can be tricky. Mixed frame rates still give me headaches too. Take your HD timeline and export using Compressor. Once Compressor launches and your sequence is in there, select it and go to Target Menu, New Target with Setting under the Settings Tab: Apple/Other Workflows/Advanced Format Conversions/Standard Definition/DV NTSC. Then go to the Inspector and click on the Encoder Tab. Click settings under Video and this is where you set your frame rate. If your HD footage was 24p, select 24 under Motion: Frame Rate. If your footage was another frame rate, this is where you can get into trouble. Choose wisely.
Next under the Geometry Tab. Under Source Inset (Cropping) and the Crop To drop down menu, select 4x3. This crops the left and right sides of your video by 120 pixels so that your output is full frame, full screen 4x3. Then hit submit. Import your new footage into your FCP DV timeline and your good to go.
As for your final output for 320x240, there are many codecs and settings to use, but a good place to start is the Apple iPod setting. This will give you a good quality .m4v file at 320x240. Just snoop around in Compressor and you'll see many others as well as being able to modify your own.

  • Added logos look pixelated and how to add a watermark?

    Hey guys,
I'm having a bit of trouble. i'm trying to add a watermark with one half of the logo covering the footage and the other half the black bar. Because I need to crop the video the logo (ofcourse) gets cut in half. When I try importing the entire file as a .MOV file and then add the logo I have alot of loss in quality. Trying it in After Effects didn't help either.
Also, adding the logos and text in Premiere as a .PNG file looks pixelated even though the file is of a very high resolution. How can I fix this/

    Jim,
    Picture this...
You have 16:9 footage with really good stuff at the extreme right and the extreme left. SO you want to keep it that way. You also have 4:3 that you don't want to scale up. SO you use a 4:3 project. Now you have two choices. You can crop all of the 4:3 footage, or, when you get all done editing with both 16:9 and 4:3 you export the entire mixed clip as a 4:3 clip. Import that into Premiere Pro and crop the entire clip to look letterboxed. Now add a logo that happens to sit near the bottom right and some of it is over video, and some is over black letterbox.
Only none of this is relevant other than to explain that he has a problem with his logo in that it looks pixelated.
Solve the pixelation and the other explanation is not relevant.

  • When I insert my logo into a title, the colour changes. How do I stop this happening?

I have an EPS file of my logo. It is one solid colour, Upsdell Red. When I open it in Photoshop, the colour is correct. When I open it in Preview, the colour is correct. However, when I put it in Premiere Pro, it suddenly becomes a bright blood red? How can I fix this?!

Instead of dropping it into a title just drop it on the timeline.

  • Title Crawl Direction with Boris 3D

I must be going crazy! How do I change the direction so that I can make the text crawl from top to bottom or bottom to top (a vertical crawl). I know I have done this before several times but I can not seem to be able to change the direction from a horizontal crawl to a vertical crawl.
    Thanks.

Use Title Crawl. In the controls there is a popup that sets whether it's a roll or a crawl. The default roll is from bottom to top. In the controls there is a checkbox for reverse direction.

  • Adding logo or image to email signature

I have added my logo (a jpeg image) to my email signature. When I send an email to someone else who is using an Apple mail program it opens up fine. However, when I send an email to someone who is using, for example, a yahoo mail account, the logo does not show up on the actual email, it shows as an attachment that must be clicked on to open.
Does anyone know how to embed an actual logo/image onto an email signature so that it will be seen in an email regardless of what type of email program they are using without having to click on it? thanks

    Jessie,
I would love to help you (and anyone else in your situation), but it seems I can't duplicate your problem. I read your post before going to work this morning, and I sent myself an email (from Mail at home to Lotus Notes at work) with a signature containing a JPEG. Notes, arguable the worst email client out there, showed the JPEG in-line.
I don't have Outlook or Outlook Express, so I cannot test those, but I'd be happy to receive an email from you so I can see what comes across. You need to send it to my work email because that's the only place I have an email client other than Mail running. The address is dkiechle followed by an @-sign followed by amadeus.com.
We can do the opposite as well: I can try to send a test email to one of the addresses that you used to see if my signature shows up with the graphics element in-line. Would be pretty instructive, I think. I can do this if you provide an address; however, I can only do it in a few hours from home as I don't have Mail here at the office.
One interesting thing to check: in Mail, there's an option to "Always send Windows-friendly attachments". Can you check if it is enabled or disabled in your configuration of Mail?

  • ITunesU adding text to episode title and description

Apparently our iTunesU site started doing something odd over the weekend. It's started adding the short name as well as the tab name to the beginning of the podcast name.
    For example:
The tab name is "PHIL 2050 - Ethics and Values"
When you subscribe to the "PHIL - 2050 Ethics and Values" podcast the name of the podcast shows up in the Podcasts portion of iTunes as "Phil - Public - Phil 2050 - Ethics and Values"
I know that there is a setting in iTunesU to override album and artist information (those are currently set to "Use original", but I haven't seen anything related to the actual title of the podcast. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can get it to stop?

Thank you, I created a calculated column, using Microsoft's recommendations below, and Scott's!
    Calculated Field Formulas -
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb862071.aspx
The result shows below.  the 3rd column is the Server and Description, with the calculated column, "merging" the two text into one, with a space and a dash in the middle to separate them.  The list is below and the "look up".  The black section
is my new form or add new item, where I would select multiple servers based on their server name and their description.

  • Logo image in titles disappear when open project on other PC

    Hi You all!
Got a problem with Premiere Pro CS5 regarding titles. We´re a group of people who uses the same CS5-project file as a template (write protected) from a server out on different computers.
For each new project we open the template-project from the server and do a "save as" before we start editing on our own PC.
The problem occurs with our titles in this template-project. We have a pretty straightforward title with a background and text created in the title editor. Then we also  import a logo in png-format in the title editor. This works great when we open the project on the same computer as its made on. But when someone opens the project on another computer from the server the image is gone and there's a "Logo" text where the logoimage was. To get the image back we ned to open the title in the editor, klick on the "logo" and the smal square in the tools to the right and browse the image file.
This is hard unecessary work to do when we do changes etc in the template project.
Hope there is some way to get the logo image to stay in the title when the project is used on other PC:s.
Hope I have managed to explain the issue ok. Thanks for any help with this.

    You explained it well enough.
But in my experience, you will have to redo the logo every time you switch computers.  I don't know why PP keeps losing that link, but it does.
The better option would be to create the title in Photoshop, including the logo, and bring that into the template project instead of using a PP title.

  • Problems adding logo or custom type to video clips - the result is fuzzy

Greetings! I'm new to iMovie (using '11) and am attempting to add my logo to video clips before uploading them to VIMEO. I have watched two tutorials, so I know the mechanics. In Photoshop I put my logo on a transparent background, added my web address below it with the type tool, sized it to 175x85px @ 72ppi, and used PS's Save for Web option, saving it as a PNG file to my desktop. I dragged my black logo onto a video clip in iMovie, but what I see is a badly out-of-focus logo over the video. I've tried multiple times and get the same result. So how do I make it look crisp? I've got a screen shot if you need to see it. Please Help! thanks, tom

no such thing as dot-per-inch in video - video has same res on any sized screen.
your Project has 1920x1080 pixel ... try this res.
