Adding moive clip

This is probably really simple but I can't seem to get it to
work. I purchased a flash website template which works just fine
but know I want to add a simple flash movie clip (it's a explosion)
to the site so right before my logo appear it explodes. When I add
it, it works but continues to keep exploding. How can I add this
and make it only explode once? I added a "stop" command to the
first frame of the clip but then it stops the entire timeline.
Please help.

I am in the process of preparing to test a sample from your brand and model camera in my Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7 64 bit. I will have the results probably tomorrow morning.
For now I just want to put you through the drill that I do for anyone who says he/she is using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1.
1. Are you working from the 8.0/8.0.1 Update of the program?

2. Do you have the automatic Background Rendering and AutoAnalyzer features turned OFF.
For Background Rendering option. See Edit Menu/Preferences/General.
For AutoAnalyzer option. Click on Organizer in the row below the blue active Organize header in order to open the Elements Organizer. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options and disable all the AutoAnalzyer options. To return to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer workspace, go to File Menu/Exit.
Is your computer optimized in spite of the fact that you have a high end laptop? I presumed so but always go to verify, no pile ups of preview files, conformed video and audio files et al.
Looking at the properties of your source media, I see:
video compression = MPEG1
audio compression = MPEG-Layer1 (.mp2)
Frame Size = 640 x 480 (4:3)
Pixel Aspect Ratio = 1.0
Frame Rate = 30 progressive frames per second
With properties like those you are sure to get a red line over that content since there is no project preset with that description.
But, your choice of the default NTSC DV Standard would have been mine also.
I am heading to try to get a quick look at the behavior of the sample video here in my Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1.

Crashing after adding audio clips

So I have had to rebuild my 50 minute vacation movie 3 times now due to the files become corrupt after adding audio clips. The audio clips are legit and not just downloaded from a random site. Happens with different songs not just particular ones.

Here is a good tutorial for how audio works. In your case, you want to drag and drop the music track on top of one of your video clips at the frame where you want the music to begin.

Clips splitting when adding more clips

i have one main movie in my project and then I'm adding more clips on top of it on other video tracks.
the only problem is, whenever i do that, my main clips splits into two, right in the place where i'm adding a new clip. is there any way to disable that?

sounds like you are insert editing the new clips and you want to do an overwrite edit.
if you are doing it by drag and drop, take note of an arrow that appears when you drag the clip to the timeline. if you hover the mouse in the top third of the clip you are editing to, the arrow will point right - meaning it will 'insert' the new clip, and therefore move everything to accommodate. If you hover the mouse in the bottom two thirds, you will see the arrow point down - this means it will be an overwrite edit, and it won't move the other clips..

Sequence Settings message when adding LT clip

I was one who took the plunge with QT 7.4.5.
I'm running FCP 6.0 on OS 10.5.2
I found upon importing a rendered Livetype clip that when adding to timeline it shows this message:
<Warning This clip does not match this sequence's settings or any of your sequence presets
For best performance your sequence and External Video should be set to the format of the clips you are editing.
Change sequence settings to match the clip settings.?>
If I say no, it needs to be rendered. If I say yes it adds to the timeline without needing rendering.
BUT...THen any other previous clips added from the project force the above message.
I am wondering what in my preferences are being affected and what is a good workaround?
Perhaps just adding and re-rendering in FCP?

IMovie crashes when adding audio clip

I am in the middle of creating a movie, everything has been going very smoothly and then suddenly iMovie started crashing whenever I try to add a sound clip to a slide.
The audio clip does initially appear to be added, but then iMovie hangs and I have to force quit.
Any ideas on why this would suddenly start occuring when everything was working fine up 'til now?

I hope you don't mind my jumping in and adding to the muddied waters, but I am also having trouble with iMovie transitions. I just bought the MacBook Pro - 200 gig hard drive with boosted RAM. I have experienced the following problems:
1. After reading Karl's caution about iMovie trash, I don't empty the trash until the project is completed, so that's not the issue.
2. And this is what's odd . . . I just put one movie together and had not a single glitch. I pulled stills in using Ken Burns, was able to go back and edit the clips, change transitions, etc.
3. I have another movie that I have been working on and it was going fine UNTIL I added the first transition. After that, whenever I select a clip I get a black screen and have to reimport the photo to see it.
4. When I try and add transitions, sometimes they work, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes the system crashes, and sometimes it looks like it is going to render, but the rendering line never progresses.
5. I have tried deleting the plist files for both iMovie and iPhoto, and repairing permissions, but it doesn't work.
6. No security features are turned on.
7. I do have slick transitions, but as I said, they worked fine in the first movie (where trash was never emptied.)
This is making me crazy and is far too time consuming. Karl, any thoughts?

Final cut Express HD sound splits when adding video clips

this have been happening recently. I set up my music and start add video and photos. Im new to FCE. Anway now when I add a clip the music bar splits seperating to the width of the clip.
Whats causeing this and what is the fix.

B. BUT it happens to me to and my strategy is
- to add new material beyond the end of all material in TimeLine
- then move it into place.
This also happens to me when adding Video to another track ==> all splits - but by first add it beyond the end and move it into place always works.
But to be able to put it (Video, Photos and Audio) into right place directly would have been great.

Is it possible to split an added audio clip (like you can with the video clips)?

I'm working in iMovie 9. I've recorded a audio voiceover that I added to my video clips.
I want to be able to split the voiceover audio so I can separate the different sentences and move them to where they are appropriate relative to the video.
With video, this is easily done with shift+command+S.
I tried selecting the audio track and doing shift+command+S but it doesn't work.
I can't figure out how to do this. Is it possible?

I now remember a few years ago having the same problem, and I contacted Apple and suggested they make this possible in future versions of iMovie. Guess they listened to me!

Adding audio clips

I am having trouble adding audio tracks to my iMovie. Three songs are already added to the movie. When I try to add additional songs to the background area, the clips go to the beginning of the movie, overlapping existing songs. Is there any easy way to get the clip to add at the end? I've tried grabbing and moving the song from the front, but it causes two problems: (1) it pins the music, and (2) it moves the existing music.

Adding multiple clips to a track

I read the manual and I know it`s possible to add more than one clip to a single track. I never done it before. I just want to add 3 clips one after the other.
I`d like to know if this works well, if there isn`t any known issues. Is this compatible with any dvd player? Is it really fluid from one clip to another?

It's a totally seamless move from clip to clip, just as if you have placed them in the final cut timeline and play through each one after the other. The way you have them edited might present a visual shock, of course, but the playback will be fine having them in one track.
In fact, I'd recommend it over having three tracks. You have got more flexibility over how you arrange playback (play one, play all, etc) and it is a simpler job to author one track instead of three.

Can I use imovie to make a movie by first making a soundtrack and then adding video clips to illustrate the sound track?

I want to make a movie using imovie 11.
I want to import still photos taken from the inet and import video clips of myself over the stills. I also want this movei to illustrate a soundtrack of my singing with a karaoke file.
Is this possible?
How would I get my voice singing with the itune song so my singing and the itune become one track?
Then could I use that soundtrack to build the movie, rather than start with video an add soundtrack?

This is a No and Yes question.
No You can not add Audio first in any iMovie from iMovie'08 (version 7.0.x) and onwards. You need to use FinalCut Pro X to do this - Where it's rather straight forward.
Yes - it is a bit tedious but can be faked in iMovie - by first creating a Black .jpg photo. Add this to TimeLine in iMovie as many times (and at max duration) to reserve the time the movie will use. Then add Your Audo track. Then add Your photo and videosequences. There are a function in iMovie that let's You replace the original video with the one You want to insert - "Cutaway" - Then continue till all Black parts are replaced. Movie done !
But really - take a look at FinalCut where this is much easier.

Adding audio clips in 30 second intervals

I'm new to Adobe Premiere Elements and I'm glad to have found a forum with folks who have such extensive experience and knowledge about Adobe! My situation...I would like to add audio clips ("beep") every 30 seconds to a video. (I want to collect data from the video.)
What is the best (and easiest) way to do this?

One can add a Marker by tapping the * key on the numeric keypad. You could do this every 30 sec. (you can drag any about, if you miss the cue). Then, I'd use a "beep" SFX file, and place one at each of these Markers. If you have an SFX file that has any pre-roll in it, first thing that I'd do is alter it in Audacity, or any sound editing program, so that the actual "beep" comes at the very beginning of the Clip, and do a Save_As, then Import that edited SFX file.

Adding a clip to same multitrack

I used to be able to do this in the older versions of Audition.
Basically I am editing a lot of clips from one long wave form and want to add each clip to just one single track in the multitrack view. So essentially each clip will line up one after the other and not bounce to several different tracks.
How can i do this without manually moving each clip after the last onto Track 1, lets say?

With Audition CS6, multiple clips dropped into a Multitrack session are currently placed on different tracks. We've heard from a lot of users that want the consecutively-positioned, single-track behavior and it has been submitted as a feature request.

Adding a Clip in the middle of the timeline

I know this is a dumb question, but I've been watching tutorials and reading about FCE; however, I cannot locate an explanation of how to insert a clip in the center of the timeline or a transition in the center of the timeline without messing everything else up.

I assume you want to insert a clip between 2 others?
Drag the clip to where the other 2 "join".
If you do it carefully, you will notice that the cursor arrow points right when you have it in the top half of the timeline and swivels to point down when you move it to the bottom half of the timeline.
To insert your new clip you must release it while the cursor is pointing right.
A bit more info:
When the arrow is pointing right, showing that you are about to insert the clip, the clip is displayed with a thick dark line around it.
If the arrow is pointing down, showing that it is going to over-write the underlying clip, the clip turns from blue to brown.
